Abortion facilities closing at unprecedented rate, says new report

Good news for pro-life advocates can be found in a recently released report from an abortion organization claiming that “independent [abortion] clinics are closing at an unprecedented rate.” The report was published by Abortion Care Network (ACN), whose stated mission is to “ensure access” to abortion.

The 2018 report, “Communities Need Clinics: Independent Abortion Care Providers and the Future of Abortion Access in the United States,” says:

  • When Abortion Care Network started tracking clinic closures in 2012, there were 510 independent abortion clinics open in the U.S. As of November 2018, 370 independent clinics remain open. Since 2013, 148 independent abortion clinics have closed. Forty of those clinics closed in 2013; 23 closed in 2014; 33 closed in 2015; 22 closed in 2016; 17 closed in 2017. As of November, 11 independent clinics have closed in 2018.

ACN was founded in 2008 and is led by executive director, Nikki Madsen, and governed by Board members from a litany of abortion facilities and organizations. The organization claims to be the “national association for independent community-based, abortion care providers and their allies.”

Abortion Care Network report on independent abortion providers

Under methodology, the report says:

Abortion Care Network collects data annually on every abortion clinic in the United States that makes abortion care services publicly available or otherwise discloses that they provide abortion care. Using publicly available search engines to identify providers, each clinic is contacted annually for operational status and information on the scope of services provided. Data gathered are presented throughout this report.

While it wasn’t clearly stated how ACN determined which facilities were independent providers, many of ACN’s reported stats sounded encouraging:

  • Independent clinics are closing at an unprecedented rate: the number of independent clinics has been reduced by nearly 28 percent since 2012.

  • Currently, six states have only one abortion care provider.

  • While there have also been a handful of clinic openings, the total number of independent clinics in this country has decreased by 2 percent since 2012.
  • Over the last three years, 50 independent clinics have been forced to close in the United States.

The report then states:

… Currently, six states have only one abortion care provider. Independent abortion care providers operate the only remaining clinic in four of those states: Kentucky, Mississippi, North Dakota, West Virginia (Missouri and South Dakota each rely on a single Planned Parenthood). Though there are three remaining clinics in Louisiana and two in Wyoming — those states rely entirely on independent clinics for abortion care.

Although the largest provider of abortions in the nation is Planned Parenthood, and ACN shows that Planned Parenthood is included in its membership, Planned Parenthood isn’t included in the state by state abortion facilities listed under ACN’s “Abortion Care Providers” list.

ACN seems to make a distinction between independent abortion facilities and physicians’ offices, hospitals, and Planned Parenthood’s massive chain of facilities. The report acknowledges what Live Action News has reported numerous times — that despite decreasing health services, Planned Parenthood — one organization — has a monopoly on abortions in the US. While figures indicate that while profitable abortions are on a steady decline nationally, Planned Parenthood’s marketshare has climbed to nearly 35 percent nationwide. And ACN’s report shows the same.

ACN claims, “Although independent abortion care providers represent about 25 percent of the facilities offering abortion care nationwide, they perform about 60 percent of the abortion procedures,” while hospitals and physician’s offices are only five percent.

What distinguishes an abortion facility from a doctor’s office is not specifically defined in the report.

Image: Abortion Care Network graph on abortion percentage by provider type

ACN seems to boast that, as they claim in the report, independent abortion providers commit 94 percent of later term abortions in the nation.

  • Across the country, 66 percent of clinics that provide abortion after the first trimester are independent. Independent clinics represent 75 percent of all clinics that provide care after 16 weeks of pregnancy, 83 percent of clinics providing care after 19 weeks, and 94 percent of clinics that provide care at or after the 22nd week of pregnancy.

Tragically, research published by Live Action News reveals that 100,000 later term abortions are reported annually in the United States, despite polls that indicate the American public is uncomfortable with second and third trimester abortions.

For more than 20 years, Gallup has found that abortion support plummets after the first trimester. According to a June 2018 Gallup Poll, out of 60 percent of adults who believe abortion should be legal in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy, “support drops by about half, to 28%, for abortions conducted in the second three months, and by half again, to 13%, in the final three months.”

ACN released the report along with a planned Tweetfest using the hashtag  to draw attention to independent abortion providers and the role they play in committing abortion.

The ACN report seems to confirm what advocates opposed to abortion have stressed for a long time: that the work of pro-life sidewalk counselors, prayer events, investigations, legislative efforts, and pregnancy resource centers may actually be having an impact on the number of abortions and abortion facilities in the United States.

Abortion clinic protects male escort who sexually harasses pro-life woman by falsely accusing her husband

A pro-life man in Alabama, who stepped in to defend his wife from a possible assault, has been found not guilty after an abortion facility escort manager had him arrested, claiming that he was responsible for breaking a $25 umbrella. Daniel French was represented by Thomas More Society attorneys against the City of Montgomery who prosecuted French for alleged destruction of property. Daniel and his wife Valarie regularly offer life-affirming alternatives outside the Reproductive Health Services abortion clinic in Montgomery where the incident took place.

Reproductive Health Services is known for controversial activity after deploying a squadron of volunteers as escorts who carry umbrellas. They deliberately place themselves between abortion-bound women and the pro-life sidewalk counselors who offer support and information on alternatives to abortion and pray with those women who are willing to talk.

One particular abortion clinic escort, Travis Jackson was well-known to pro-lifers for as their attorney’s described it, “problematic misbehavior” and “virulent hatred for the pro-life movement.” His actions have been well-documented on social media,  attorneys stated.

The video below is one example of the escort’s sexually obscene behavior which occurred in February and was uploaded by pro-lifer David Day who wrote this description, “Outside Reproductive Health Services in Montgomery Al, my friend Daniel was pleading for the pro-aborts to turn from their sin and turn to Jesus when Travis who has been joining them for a short while begins to rant and turn to Valarie, grabs his testicles, and shakes them three times at her yelling.”

According to witnesses, Jackson often hurled vulgar and sexually harassing communication at Valarie French and other pro-life advocates, and he did the same on May 18. But, despite the sexually vulgar comments, in the day of #MeToo, the abortion clinic and their escorts sided with Travis, opening up a legal defense fund for the abusive man.

Listen to Travis defend abortion below:

On the day in question (May 2018), attorney’s for the accused pro-life counselor state that Jackson was again making vulgar sexual gestures towards Valarie French when, according to witnesses, he became enraged at her suggestion that his obscenities negated his claim of “championing women’s rights.” Witnesses state that the clinic escort then charged toward Valerie waving the umbrella as a weapon, apparently intent on physical assault. Daniel French, who was recording the incident on his phone, stepped toward Jackson, deflecting the umbrella with his hand, shouting, “Don’t you do that to my wife!” With Daniel’s phone still recording, Jackson quickly raised the umbrella and brought it crashing down on Daniel’s head, destroying the umbrella.

Attorney’s representing French said that after the angry abortion clinic volunteer assaulted Valarie, and as her husband came to her rescue, the man turned his attack on Daniel. Then the woman who coordinates the abortion clinic escorts had the police arrest Daniel. Later that day, the coordinator of the abortion clinic escorts signed a warrant for the arrest of Daniel French for destruction of property – the umbrella that Jackson smashed over Daniel’s head.

The City of Montgomery began its prosecution of Daniel French for criminal mischief on the afternoon of September 20, 2018. The prosecution’s first witness was the abortion clinic escort coordinator, who testified that she did not actually see the event – but she pressed for charges because the $25 umbrella belonged to her pro-abortion group.

Daniel French’s clear video evidence showed that he held the phone throughout the incident and was the victim of assault with the umbrella, and successfully negated the testimony of abortion escorts that he used both hands to smash the umbrella over Jackson’s head.

The Thomas More Society was able to demonstrate that accusation to be false, and that the umbrella was ruined as an angry abortion clinic escort smashed it over Daniel’s head.

Earlier this year, the abortion facility failed to report a patient who was 13 years old to the Department of Human Resources, according to a report from the Alabama Department of Public Health.

According to Operation Rescue, an inspection report dated January 26, 2018, “described the citations involved failing to report a pregnant girl who received two abortions at Reproductive Health Services within 15 months.”

According to charts requested by health inspectors reviewed by OR:

  • One of the charts revealed that in January 2016, a pregnant girl, in the 9th grade and said her date of birth was July 3, 2000, came to the abortion facility for informed consent information.
  • On the date of the abortion, the girl returned with her birth certificate, which documented that her actual birth date was July 3, 2002, making her only 13 years old.
  • Despite this new information, the facility made no report of suspected child abuse as required by law.
  • The same girl returned to Reproductive Health Services for a second abortion in April 2017, at the age of fourteen. Again, there was no mention of the age of the baby’s father in the citation narrative, which would have been important information to determine compliance with mandatory reporting laws.
  • And once again, the abortion facility made no report of suspected child sexual abuse for the 2017 incident.

“Once the failure to report was discovered by the state health inspector, the facility’s “Director/Owner” hurriedly placed a phone call in the presence of the inspector to the Department of Human Services and reported information for possible sex abuse — two years after the fact, ” OR reported.

Patient review accuses abortion doc of pelvic exam with “ungloved hand”

Michigan abortion facility open since the 1970s shuts down

A long standing abortion facility in Michigan, the Eastern Women’s Center/Women’s Center of Michigan has suddenly closed its doors with no apparent warning. Pro-life activist Lynn Mills came upon the announcement when looking at Google maps. Mills followed up by calling the abortion facility, located in Warren, where she was told by a staffer that the facility was closed and they were diverting patients to their Sterling Heights location. No other details about the closure were given to Mills.

The facility was owned by Jacob Kalo, who at one time operated five facilities in the state. After selling his Lathrup Village facility this past summer, the number now stands at three. In 2o14, that facility, the Women’s Center of Southfield, had its license suspended for several health and safety violations, according to officials.

The following year, an abortion patient from the Lathrup Village facility went public about her gruesome late term botched procedure and perforated uterus. According to a 911 transcript obtained by Mills, the abortion was committed by Kalo’s contracted late trimester abortion doctor, Reginald Sharpe.

The woman reached out to Mills and detailed during a national radio interview, how parts of her almost 24-week preborn child had been pushed through the uterine perforation, and the abortionist was having difficulty removing them. Mills told Live Action News that the woman recounted how the abortionist had been training another doctor to do the later term procedure that day.

While the patient waited for the emergency responders, she said the doctor changed his clothes and “Swiffered and cleaned up. Then, they placed an IV for the EMS people and kind of scrambled around.”

The woman stated in a radio interview, “And I saw this red bucket on the floor and – uh – what I saw was just….” The woman, unable to continue, had seen her dismembered baby, explained Mills.

Mills told Live Action News that the Warren facility building had been up for sale for several years. Pro-lifers outside Kalo’s facilities have had interesting interactions with the abortionist.

Mills regularly warns patients outside the facility about the abortionist, and according to the abortionist himself, numerous women have come forward with complaints about him since pro-lifers began warning patients with signs (shown above). In the video below, Kalo claims the accusations are false.

A July 25, 2018 review written by an alleged patient and  published on Vitals.com accuses the abortionist of conducting a pelvic exam with an “ungloved hand” as well as other inappropriate conduct:

… During my last visit when I was being brought into the exam, I wasn’t told to undress from the waist down. When Dr. Kalo and the two nurses/nursing assistants came into the room, that’s when he told me to undress. So, I had to undress in front of three people with zero privacy. He didn’t use stirrups on me and just had me lay on the exam table with my legs up. He didn’t wash his hands prior to my exam, only put one glove on, and did my entire pelvic exam with his ungloved hand. Additionally, I had the paper cloth over my waist, and this doctor literally cupped my butt after he was finished with the pelvic exam. I’m talking about the grabbing of one’s butt that your significant other does to you too. He also conducts his breast exams in a peculiar manner. Not your normal breast exam… He did not wash his hands after the pelvic and breast exams, and neither did the nurses/nursing assistants who were in the room with him. I wished I would have send [sic] something, but I was so dumbfounded that he would forget to put a glove on and grabbed my butt that I froze…

Mills said Kalo’s facilities were recently licensed by the state, which enacted regulations only a few years ago. But Kalo has been able to operate his facilities regardless, while awaiting inspections.

“He’s most likely cutting his losses now,” Mills said.

Shortly after the state passed clinic licensure regulations, Mills claims over a dozen abortion facilities closed rather than face the occasional (every three year) inspection by regulatory officials.

“This is just another victory for pro-lifers and babies,” Mills stated.

Human-animal hybrid research combine to make Chimeras

Chimeras become a reality in disturbing new human-animal hybrid research

chimeras

Recently, scientists have made breakthroughs in the creation of human-animal hybrids known as chimeras(ky-MEER’-ehz), or a mix of human cells with an animal host. Nature.com explained, “To create chimeras, scientists generally inject pluripotent stem cells — which can become any type of organ — from one species into the early embryo of a second species.”

According to Science Alert, the term comes from “a legend in Greek mythology, describing a monster which was often depicted as a lion with a goat’s head sticking from the side of its neck, and a snake for a tail.”  A 2011 report from UK’s Academy of Medical Sciences notes that “human cells used to create chimeras can be taken with appropriate consent directly from early embryos (e.g. surplus from IVF treatments), aborted fetuses, or a live-born person (e.g. human liver cells, or a cancer biopsy) or from cultured human cell lines.”

Recently, Live Action News reported on how the FDA is contracting with Advanced Bioscience Resources to obtain fetal parts for experiments involving “humanized mice”. The contract states, “ABR is the only company that can provide the human fetal tissue needed to continue the ongoing research being led by the FDA. Fresh human tissues are required for implantation into severely immune-compromised mice to create chimeric animals that have a human immune system.”

Image: FDA Chimeric fetal tissue research

FDA Chimeric fetal tissue research

Live Action News consistently reports on the ethics of using aborted fetal parts for ghoulish experiments:

  • Videos from the Center for Medical Progress showed Planned Parenthood staffers haggling over the price of aborted baby body parts.
  • In the 1970s, aborted babies were being used for medical research funded by taxpayers at the EPA.
  • Experiments on aborted children date back to the 1930’s, including a number of experiments on living abortion survivors.
  • The National Research Act established the National Commission for the Protection of Human Subjects of Biomedical and Behavioral Research, was chaired by Kenneth John Ryan, MD, who taught abortions.
  • Taxpayers have funded millions of dollars for human fetal tissue experiments for years through the National Institutes of Health (NIH), estimated to spend $103 million in FY2018 and $95 million in FY2019. It is unclear which of those studies include more ethical sources of tissue other than tissue from aborted fetuses.

In 2016, NIH announced plans to rescind their moratorium forbidding federal funding of human/animal chimera embryo research. Alan Moy, M.D., CEO of Cellular Engineering Technologies and scientific director of the John Paul II Medical Research Institute, opposes the mixing of species.

Image: Objection to animal human chimera research

Objection to animal human chimera research

And, although it is unclear whether the controversial research uses human adult or embryonic tissue or cell lines, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops objected to the “problem of exploiting human embryos as cell factories for research”.

NPR report also expressed ethical concerns. “One issue is that scientists might inadvertently create animals that have partly human brains, endowing them with some semblance of human consciousness or human thinking abilities,” the report read. “Another is that they could develop into animals with human sperm and eggs and breed, producing human embryos or fetuses inside animals or hybrid creatures.”

George DaleyDirector of Stem Cell Transplantation at Samuel E. Lux Children’s Hospital Boston, who presented at a 2015 NIH workshop on “animals containing human cells,” argued that, “Humanized mice have been essential for cancer research.”

Image: Humanized Mice Chimeras

Humanized Mice Chimeras

But Daley also admitted that even scientists had concerns about “the chimerizing of human cells with non-human primates over mice.” “[W]hat is the plausibility, with which a human cell would fundamentally change the nature of the animal host?” he asked.

Image: NIH Workshop concerns over chimerizing embryos

David Resnik from the Netherlands Institute of Health Sciences (NIHES) (6:06:16) pointed out that the “potential to humanize an animal’s brain” may cause the public to become uncomfortable, because “science moves fast… the specter of an intelligent mouse being stuck in a laboratory somewhere screaming ‘I want to get out’ can be very troubling to people… ”

“The public can change it’s mind just like that as we saw; the videos of… the abortion clinics… can have a tremendous impact on the public… “

In a January 2017 paper published in the journal Cell, scientists at the Salk Institute reported a breakthrough in “generating human cells and tissues in early-stage pig and cattle embryos” where they “[S]uccessfully implanted sows with those embryos”. Nature detailed how scientists “allowed the pig–human chimaeras to develop for three to four weeks before destroying them, according to ethics regulations”.

Image: Human Pig Chimeras

In 2011, media in the UK blew the lid on a secret program that created 150 human-animal hybrid embryos in British laboratories. According to a report in the Daily Mail, which explained, “This legalised the creation of a variety of hybrids, including an animal egg fertilised by a human sperm; ‘cybrids’, in which a human nucleus is implanted into an animal cell; and ‘chimeras’, in which human cells are mixed with animal embryos.”

In 2018, National Geographic reported the second successful human-animal hybrids: sheep embryos that are are 0.01-percent human by cell count.

Image: Human-pig Chimera

In 2016, Congressman Chris Smith introduced legislation to prohibit human/animal chimeras. The bill has essentially gone nowhere. In 2017, pro-life leaders asked the secretary of HHS for NIH to “withdraw the proposed changes to NIH guidelines which would allow funding for research which attempts to create human-animal chimeras… ”

To date, that has not happened.

How can the pro-life community help victims of sex trafficking?

pro-life, abuse, trafficking

One possible indicator, or red flag, of sex trafficked victims includes numerous abortions, pregnancies and miscarriages. Other red flags can include the frequent use of emergency contraception, as well as a teen being accompanied by older boyfriend or an adult that is not a family member. Therefore, medical staff must be vigilant to report suspicion of abuse. But there are also things that the general pro-life community can do to help. The pro-life message is one of human rights, compassion, and love for mother and child, and pro-life people on the front lines — outside abortion facilities, working at pregnancy centers, etc. — are ideally positioned to identify these victims.

Live Action’s new docuseries exposes how sex trafficking and abuse victims often go to Planned Parenthood for help — and Planned Parenthood simply returns them back to their dangerous situations. Live Action founder and president Lila Rose stated in a press release:

Despite Planned Parenthood’s public rhetoric as well as laws requiring it to report suspected abuse, its failure to report has been deliberate and widespread. Time and again, rather than reporting abuse to authorities, Planned Parenthood has repeatedly looked the other way and performed abortions on victims as young as 12 years old. These girls deserved advocacy but instead Planned Parenthood staff ignored their abuse and returned them to the waiting arms of their abusers.

Because of flagrant violations like these, the proposed Title X rule tightening on reporting abuse is absolutely necessary. Planned Parenthood has proven that its priority is selling abortions, not caring for the most vulnerable of girls. Planned Parenthood’s culture of cover-up must end, the cycle of abuse of innocent children must end, and Planned Parenthood’s half a billion dollars in annual federal funding must end. Taxpayers cannot be forced to subsidize these abuses of children.

Cindy Collins, a long time pro-life advocate who is educating the pro-life community about human trafficking, is the founder of SpeakHope.net and has served on Louisiana Governor’s Human Trafficking Commission. She has provided testimony for Louisiana legislation requiring human trafficking awareness signage to be placed inside abortion facilities. She also provided information and resources for help regarding the state’s informed consent literature for women seeking abortion.

In addition, Collins has participated in training and workshops on predatory relationships, human trafficking, and forced abortions. She has presented her findings both nationally and internationally at the National Right to Life Conference, Heartbeat International Conference, Texas Pregnancy Care Network, as well as the United Nations Conference on the Status of Women, Israel Be’ad Chaim (Pro-Life) Conference and Cherish Life Australia Conference. She currently serves as a global advisor for Operation Outcry and as a board advisor of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), Reproductive Loss and Sexual Trauma Division.

Collins told Live Action News that she is post-abortive and has tragically experienced abortion several times. Later, she helped to found a pregnancy center in her home state of Louisiana where she ministered to abortion-minded women on a regular basis.

Image of Cindy Collins

“Those abortions led me into a lot of destruction,” Collins said, adding that she came to understand that her destructive behavior leading to her abortion kept her in emotional captivity. The freedom and insights she learned in dealing with her past led to her compassion for the victims of human trafficking. “There but for the grace of God go I, that I could have been held captive because of the destruction in my life. This has given me awareness for what I do now,” she said.

After years of pro-life ministry, Collins said the Lord led her to women who were working in the commercial sex industry:

I was invited to go on a team to minister to strip clubs down town understanding that many years ago, I could have been one of them. After 30 years of working in the pro-life movement and abortion recovery, I asked the Lord why I was going there now. Then, after a few years, I began to realize that the single moms working in the clubs were hurting like I had been. Soon, I was having encounters with women in dressing rooms inside strip clubs and discovered that many had been forced to have abortions.

The Lord showed me there are captives that need help through pregnancy centers and the pro-life movement, but He also showed me that children held outside the womb through sex trafficking also deserve life, love, and to fulfill their destiny.”

Collins sees her focus as reaching women and children inside as well as outside the womb. As such,  she sees a real need for the pro-life community to become better educated to work to free victims caught up in the commercial sex trafficked industry, both physically as well as spiritually and emotionally.

“What the pro-life movement is missing,” Collins shared, “is first, how we are looking at the women forced to work in these areas? I began to discover that the pro-life community was looking at these women in the wrong way. Were we valuing these women and their babies the same as the college student who might come into our center?”

She added, “The pro-life movement has to get involved. We have to understand and change our mindsets, and see the victims who potentially are being forced to submit to abortion through new eyes. They’re being told if they don’t have that abortion their pimps will kill them. He threatens to kill their family or children.”

In her research on human trafficking, Collins discovered that women and children trapped in sex trafficking usually have some form of sexual abuse in their past. One study showed that 70 percent of women interviewed that were sex trafficked became pregnant and about 55 percent of these victims say they will be forced into an abortion during their captivity.

A 1999 report by the Center for the Study of Intelligence found that sex trafficked victims endure “threats of physical abuse against themselves and/or their families are also common in order to force cooperation. Traffickers also play upon the women’s fears of arrest and deportation. In additional cases, trafficking victims suffer extreme physical and mental abuse, including rape, imprisonment, forced abortions, and physical brutality.”

In 2002, according to a report by the New York Times, police raided a house, expecting to find an underground brothel. What they found instead was horrific. Inside were victims of sex trafficking between the ages of 14 and 17, all Mexican nationals without documentation. The girls were forced to live in squalid conditions, described by the paper as a “land-based equivalent of a 19th-century slave ship.” Police also uncovered a “stash of penicillin” along with abortion-inducing drugs.

One victim of sex trafficking told Facing Life Now TV that women and girls are also taken to abortion clinics by their pimps or by people working for the pimp. “Marlene,” who had become “trusted” by her pimp, told the interviewer that she was responsible for booking abortions when a woman became pregnant, saying, “The pimps and the traffickers would get fake I.D.’s for the girls and we would take them to have abortions.”

When asked if abortion facilities like Planned Parenthood would turn down the abortions for the girls, she replied, “Oh, no, absolutely not…. Honestly they had to know that these were teenagers; they were not adult women.”

Marlene said that participating in these abortions traumatized her. She recalled a 14-year-old sex trafficked victim who became pregnant and was being forced to have an abortion: “So, I had the whole house raided — she was rescued,” she said.

A study published by the Annals of Health Law in 2014, Health Consequences of Sex Trafficking, supports Marlene’s claims. Authors Laura Lederer and Christopher Wetzel interviewed several women victimized by sex trafficking and found that survivors had  “significant contact with clinical treatment facilities, most notably Planned Parenthood.”

As Live Action News previously reported, roughly two-thirds of survivors who specified a location for their abortions identified an abortion facility as the site of their abortions, indicating ongoing systemic problems inside the abortion industry. One survivor told the researchers, “I was under serious pressure from my pimps to abort the babies.” And one sex trafficking victim told researchers she was taken to Planned Parenthood because “Planned Parenthood didn’t ask any questions.”

Planned Parenthood doesn’t ask questions about sex trafficking victims

Tragically, one of the victims interviewed said she had as many as 17 forced abortions.

“There has to be laws that make it clear that these abortion facilities are required to report,” Collins said.

Study author Laura Lederer testified to lawmakers that 55 percent of the women she interviewed reported having at least one abortion, and about half of those said they had been coerced.

Sadly, sex trafficked victims, rather than abortion workers who failed to report the abuse, are often the ones facing prosecution. Last year, the Texas Tribune reported on a case in which “a pimp… had sold a 16-year-old girl for sex over two years. The girl suffered horrific abuse at his hands — she was raped, impregnated and forced to have an abortion. When she tried to run away, the pimp carved his initials into her forearm.” Tragically, rather than receiving treatment upon her eventual arrest at the age of 19, the victim was sent to prison.

“It’s a great example of the cyclical nature of trafficking and how devastating it is, and how if you do not intervene it will indeed continue, and just continue to breed itself both victims and defendants,” Kirsta Melton, who leads the Texas Attorney General’s Office’s sex-trafficking unit, told the Tribune.

Live Action News has documented the way that Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry fail to report child sexual abuse, often returning victims of abuse into the hands of the predators that force them into the abortion to begin with. Several of these tragic cases have been highlighted in the video below from Live Action’s Aiding Abusers project:

In 2011, Live Action investigators tested how Planned Parenthood would respond to sex trafficked victims by sending undercover actors posing as sex industry profiteers into their facilities.

Collins said that about the time God was leading her to become more involved in outreach to victims of trafficking, Live Action released its undercover investigation. The results of the investigation shocked her. In one instance, a Planned Parenthood staffer even coached the actors posing as sex traffickers on how to secure secret abortions, STD testing, and contraception for their underage female sex slaves, and how to make their whole operation “look as legit as possible.”

The good news is that, according to Collins, when a women becomes pregnant while being trafficked, it can trigger her to find the resolve to flee her trafficker in an attempt to give her child a better life. Collins has found that many times, trafficked victims are also lovingly placing born children with adoptive families. “That woman may not escape that lifestyle for herself, but when she has the baby, she gets the courage to escape because she doesn’t want that life for her child.”

Sex trafficking survivor Julia Walsh recently recounted her heart wrenching story to the Waco Tribune about how her pimp, David Ronald Mims, refused to allow her to seek medical care while pregnant. Four men trafficked Walsh for almost three years, often keeping her in the trunk of a car until they found an abandoned apartment to traffic her from. Walsh eventually escaped and ended up on the streets where she met Mims, who regularly beat her.

“When I was pregnant, I was still using drugs and kept using drugs at first,” she told the paper. “I stopped using the drugs, and at that point, I still had to work and make a quota. He said all that means is that the baby is his property, too. At that point, the safety of my child was pretty much my number one priority.”

Tragically, when she went into labor, Mims refused to take her to the hospital and her little girl was delivered stillborn. Soon after, Walsh and Mims were arrested, and Walsh was able to receive the help she needed from a caring Waco police detective and others dedicated to fight against human trafficking.

Cassie Hammett, executive director of the Shreveport-based nonprofit Purchased, which offers a one-year residential recovery program for women coming out of the sex industry, told the Shreveport Times that sex trafficked victims often do not use protection, therefore STD’s are rampant and victims may seek abortions later in pregnancy.

“The equation in their mind is, ‘I have to use my body to make money, and so I better just get rid of this problem or I won’t be able to do it for much longer,’” Hammett said.

Such was the case for Arien Pauls, who also escaped her trafficker, according to the Fresno Bee. Pauls “became pregnant with her trafficker’s baby [and] he forced her into an illegal, late-term abortion.”

For this reason, Collins notes that abortion becomes a deep trauma — “not only the abortion experience, but the deep feelings of regret because this is a life she never intended to live, and now it’s taken the life of herself and her child, a second victim,” Collins said.

Collins points out that the pro-life community is poised to help in this area because it is already largely organized, “we know how to help- rescue people and set them on their true destiny”:

I have a training that I do for communities, schools, and individuals. And I also have a training for those in the pro-life movement specifically. How to become aware, identify and help. How to connect with law enforcement, agencies and ministries not only on the rescuing side but the restoration side.

Sidewalk counselors need to be trained as well as pregnancy centers. These victims can be difficult to identify. A trafficker could appear to be a parent or friend. They might be escorted by an older boyfriend or older adult, even an older woman. If there is any question look at age difference, and if she looks beaten or drugged, call 911.

In addition, Collins said that law enforcement must be continually trained on human trafficking, “Police need to be made aware. They need to thoroughly investigate each suspected case. 55 percent of women trafficked said they were forced to have an abortion. 70 percent said they had become pregnant. We must encourage local law enforcement to have a new mind also.”

One of the ways Collins has worked to reach these victims in her state is to develop legislation mandating “Point of Rescue” pamphlets or signage be placed inside strip clubs, hotels and abortion facilities. These documents describe what human trafficking is and explain where a victim can go for help. According to the Shreveport Times, Louisiana lawmakers now require a “Point of Rescue” pamphlet to be available to girls seeking abortion. The program is overseen by the state’s Department of Health.

“The department has focused past efforts on another state law ensuring that every woman who seeks an abortion in the state of Louisiana receives robust information about human trafficking,” Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals spokeswoman Samantha Faulkner told the paper. “Abortion clinics are required to provide each clinic with a brochure.”

Women’s right to know and Point of Rescue pamphlet for abortion clinics

In addition to the pamphlet, girls seeking abortions in the state are required to be informed that they cannot be coerced or forced into abortion. “It is unlawful for any individual to coerce a minor or adult woman to undergo an abortion. Any physician who performs an abortion upon a woman without her informed consent may be liable to her for damages in a civil action at law,” the website reads in part. The booklet, which abortion-minded women can access, also gives accurate information about the development of the baby and what the abortion entails.

Collins said that she founded SpeakHope.net and SpeakHope media to provide outreach, advocacy, and restorative care to women and youth vulnerable for sexual exploitation, sex trafficking, abuse, and forced abortion. Through outreach and missions, she has become an advocate for women and children here in the US and abroad.

Abortion patients leave poor reviews of late-term abortion facility in Dallas

Southwestern Women's Options late-term abortion facility Dallas.

There appears to be a bad run for late-term abortion facilities receiving poor reviews online from clients. Live Action News recently highlighted comments published against Warren Hern’s Colorado facility with alleged clients claiming the abortionist “speaks aggressively” and was “very condescending and suspicious”. Alleged patients who sought abortions at a late-term facility located in the nation’s capital, operated by abortionist Cesare Santangelo, called his Washington Surgi-Clinic the “Worst place ever” describing it as “a meat market”.

Now, reviews published about a later term abortion facility in Dallas, Texas is also receiving poor reviews from alleged clients. Southwestern Women’s Options (SWO) is one of a handful of abortion facilities in the nation which commits late-term abortions. It is owned and operated by Curtis Wayne Boyd, which has facilities in both Albuquerque, New Mexico where they commit abortions through 28 weeks of pregnancy as well as Dallas where they end the lives of preborn children up to 21 weeks.

Boyd employs a number of abortion doctors, some who were mentioned in reviews Live Action News uncovered.

Boyd’s Dallas facility received several critical Google reviews, with many comments alleging long wait times at SWO. But, some were complimentary, like this one which began, “I called planned parenthood first, the lady who answered was very short with me when I asked prices and said ‘thank you for calling’ and hung up right away.  When I called here, I spoke to Melinda and she was so nice to me and answered all my questions and more.”

Many published reviews of the Dallas abortion facility were very critical.

Two months ago, alleged SWO patient, Gabriel, wrote, “Do not recommend! Southwestern Women’s Surgery just care about money.”

Another woman wrote, “The staff was evil.”

Still, others called SWO’s staff, “rude and inconsiderate.”

Alleged patient Princess claimed the staff’s slowness was costing her extra money:

Although Boyd brags online that he is, “recognized for his expertise in pain management and minimizing surgery risk” and also claims that he helped establish “the National Abortion Federation (NAF) and is a founding member of the Federation’s Board of Directors” reviews left on Google indicate his facility’s ability to manage pain may not be as good as he claims.

One alleged patient complained that, “The part that i dont like is that I see, heard, and feel everything….i feel a lot a pain…”

In 2006, a patient at Boyd’s New Mexico facility filed a lawsuit against him after she suffered severe pain which “caused her to move about on the table, forcing the doctor to stop the procedure several times,” and because the clinic could not find an anesthesiologist they suggested the abortion patient go to a hospital to finish the procedure. According to the lawsuit, “Dr. [Thomas] Hall advised Plaintiff that one option was to find a doctor at a hospital who would perform the procedure.  Although no hospital in New Mexico takes patients directly for elective abortions, Dr. Hall informed Plaintiff that the University of New Mexico Hospital allows for exceptions, such as referral of patients with complications.” As a result, in an attempt to finish what SWO started, that physician, “unknowingly extracted Plaintiff’s right ureter, the tube connecting the kidney to the bladder.”

Pain during abortion is not uncommon and neither are complications.

In fact, nine months ago, another alleged patient at the Dallas SWO abortion facility, also accused the abortion facility of leaving her with an incomplete abortion, she wrote in part, “At southwestern, I felt it. It hurt. Briefly, it only lasted two minutes and they had me out the door. A few weeks later I go to the hospital for unrelated reasons and they tell me I’m pregnant. I said it was a mistake, I had a surgical abortion. They did a sonó and there is still tissue in me causing me to read as pregnant even though I’ve had my menstral. This is potentially life threatening and I will be contacting an attorney. Please make sure you get an experienced doctor. This could potentially leave me barren.”

Around that same timeframe, Lauren claims the staff tried to pressure her into an abortion. She gave this scathing review, “Disgusting place pushes abortion on anyone regardless of whether we think our pregnancy is a gift or not. This is a person. That is so sick that for basic screenings they would push a political viewpoint on me. I am glad I am having a baby and even if I did not want her I would give her to someone else.”

Alleged patient Anil warned, “Please avoid this clinic. Long wait and not at all helpful.”

In 2013, Live Action released undercover video from their, Inhuman investigative series which exposed abortion doctors at Southwestern Women’s Options in Albuquerque revealing disturbing aspects of the facility’s protocol, including the practice of leaving women alone in hotel rooms to deliver their dead children.

An unnamed counselor at the facility advises Live Action’s 27-week-pregnant investigator:

If we can’t catch it [delivery of the dead baby – the final stage of the abortion procedure] early enough, which has happened … then you’ll want to unlock the door to the hotel room, get your cell phone, and just sit on the toilet.  You don’t have to look at anything … you can stay on the phone with us until the doctor and nurse get there[.]

SWO abortion doctor Carmen Landau echoed this advice, telling the Live Action investigator to “sit on the toilet” and “unlock the hotel room.”

“Just sit there,” Landau says, “and you would not move until we come and get you.”

Staff at the New Mexico facility have been recorded expressing a willingness to abort a child at 30 weeks because of the mother’s “stress,” and were recorded offering to abort a 37-week-old preborn baby for $17,000. In addition, the New Mexico facility was recently in the news after the death of one of their abortion patients was blamed on pregnancy complications.

Live Action News published a report detailing how Boyd and his late-term abortion facility have been mired in controversy on a national level since coming under fire by a congressional committee for his work with the University of New Mexico, where the abortionist serves as adjunct faculty. In 2016, Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives, issued a subpoena against SWO in NM, relating to charges that abortion and Planned Parenthood facilities are selling aborted baby body parts for research. Late last year, a patient of SWO filed a lawsuit against owner Curtis Boyd and abortionists Carmen Landau and Shelley Sella, for failing to detail the clinic’s collaboration with the University of New Mexico, the sole recipient of fetal parts where Boyd works.

Whether abortion facilities receive good or poor reviews, all abortions take the lives of innocent preborn children and sometimes their mothers as well. This is something Southwester’s founder Boyd is well aware of having admitted once that, “Yes, I am” killing.

GOP tax plan recognizes baby in the womb as a human being

Posted in Republican with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on November 20, 2017 by saynsumthn

| (From Live Action News)

The co-chair of the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus has labeled a 529 college savings plan for an “unborn child” in the GOP tax plan a “back-door attempt to establish personhood from the moment of conception.” Congresswoman Diana DeGette (D-Colo.) criticized the wording in a November 2 press release, issued shortly after the plan was released by the House. The move follows a change by the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to define human life as ‘beginning at conception.’

According to Politico, the GOP tax bill “would allow expectant parents to start putting away money for college and private school tuition, wading into the battle over when human life begins.”

The proposal defines the ‘child in utero’ as, “a member of the species homo sapiens, at any stage of development” and reads:

UNBORN CHILDREN ALLOWED AS ACCOUNT BENEFICIARIES.—Section 529(e) is amended by adding at the end the following new paragraph:
‘‘(6) TREATMENT OF UNBORN CHILDREN.—
‘‘(A) IN GENERAL.—Nothing shall prevent an unborn child from being treated as a designated beneficiary or an individual under this section.
‘‘(B) UNBORN CHILD.—For purposes of this paragraph—
‘‘(i) IN GENERAL.—The term ‘unborn child’ means a child in utero.
‘‘(ii) CHILD IN UTERO.—The term ‘child in utero’ means a member of the species homo sapiens, at any stage of development, who is carried in the womb.’’

NBC pointed out that the bill’s terminology “mirrors a section of the 2004 Unborn Victims of Violence Act, which was enacted after the murder of Laci Peterson, who was pregnant.”

In response to the news, Paul McLeod, BuzzFeed reporter for Capitol Hill, tweeted, “I’m reading this as anti-abortion wedge. If an unborn child can be a beneficiary, that makes them a legal person, so how can they be killed?”

Following release of the bill, abortion advocates went ballistic.

Their fear is that if it can be established that the preborn child in the womb is a person, it could lead to overturning the infamous Roe v. Wade decision, which forced abortion on the nation.

NARAL on GOP Tax Bill Tweet

“On its own, I find it a despicable play to lay the groundwork for “personhood” bills and ending abortion rights,” Calla Hales, manager of A Preferred Woman abortion clinic in Charlotte, North Carolina told Bustle.

“Naturally, you’d expect me to say that as an abortion provider. As a tax paying citizen, I’ll frame it this way: Frankly, it’s fraud. A potential life cannot have assets. It cannot work, earn money, or open a bank account (or have one opened for it). … I find it logically impossible and incredibly unethical to fiscally account for a fetus,” Hales added.

Planned Parenthood, which gets over half a billion dollars a year from taxpayers, expressed its opposition to the move as well, telling CNN that defining a preborn child in the tax code would end up restricting access to abortion.

“It is absurd that House Republican leaders would use a tax bill to try to advance their agenda to undermine access to safe, legal abortion,” Dana Singiser, Vice President for Public Policy and Government Affairs at Planned Parenthood Action Fund told CNN.

Planned Parenthood, whose CEO was hired for her political organizing skills (not her health care experience, because she had none), has a record of Medicaid fraud, covering for child sexual predators, selling aborted baby parts, and chose Halloween to tweet an outrageous and eugenics-style message to the Black community that abortion is safer for women of color than childbirth. (Incidentally, Planned Parenthood’s founder was a known eugenicist who once gave a speech before the Ku Klux Klan.)

“Even in the tax reform debate, Republicans could not resist including offensive provisions to appease an extremist minority, ” Rep. DeGette wrote, “The tax code is no place to define what constitutes an ‘unborn child.’ What’s next, giving a Social Security number to a zygote?”

But Mallory Quigley, communications director for the pro-life Susan B. Anthony List, disagreed, telling NBC News that the measure is “a small increment in the momentum that we’re building to ensure that one day every child is welcomed and protected under the law. We hope that it stays in the House bill and that it stays in anything the Senate puts out.”
