Abortion access focus while OB units close in Texas and nationwide

Posted in Texas abortion clinics with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on April 1, 2016 by saynsumthn

While we await the decision from the Supreme Court in a case that challenged a pro-life law which forced the closure of several substandard abortion clinics in Texas, hundreds of Texas women have learned that they will have to travel further for obstetrical care after the closing of an OB unit in the state. The news will affect workers who are now slated to lose their jobs, and yet the media is relatively silent. Texas Health Presbyterian has announced that it will close its labor and delivery unit at its Kaufman hospital and even though it will negatively affect women’s health in the state, there is little outrage.

Flashback only a few years ago after when closing of several abortion facilities in Texas following sweeping pro-life legislation, caused an uproar and constant drum beat of outrage from pro-abortion women’s groups and the news media. But, alas, this unit is helping babies be born and not taking their lives.

Texas Presbyterian claims that there has been a decline in the number of women seeking their services and that is what has prompted their decision to close the Kaufman OB unit in May. But, less than a year after an Obstetrics Unit in another Texas city, Denton closed, a neighboring hospital said they noticed a huge increase in deliveries.

“It happened literally overnight,” nurse manager Dena Shapley told the Denton Record Chronicle in March. “We were delivering around 150 to 160 babies per month, and then literally that next month we were delivering around 240 babies per month.”

In Kaufman, the closure will force pregnant women to drive potentially long distances. The limited remaining options for care are at least 40 miles away, putting women and their babies at greater risk. The closure is also ending the practice of the city’s only OB doctor.

Despite hospital officials claiming this long distance will give women ample time to arrive at another obstetrics unit, a hospital nurse who spoke to Fox4 in Dallas said this will not help the women who have typically walked through the doors to deliver within minutes of their arrival. Even though the hospital says it will accept women into their Emergency Room, the nurse, who pointed out that the closure will affect mostly “lower socio-economic” women, claimed that no one will be available to do an emergency C-section. The hospital responded by noting that in cases of emergencies, the women would have to be transported by ambulance the 40 miles to Dallas.

Contrast this with the reaction that the closure of an abortion clinic has had in the state. When HB2 was passed, it did the unthinkable, so says the abortion lobby. The legislation sought to improve women’s safety by doing things like….requiring doctors who work at abortion clinics to have hospital privileges and also required abortion clinics to meet the standards of ambulatory surgical centers. (Oh…the horror!) Following the passage of the pro-life legislation, now being challenged before the US Supreme Court, the nation was exposed to a constant drum beat of criticism portraying images of women forced to drive for miles in order to obtain an abortion. This image (below) is a capture from Whole Women’s Health abortion chain blog who challenged the Texas pro-life law:

Whole Womens Health Abortion CLinic Statement

Since HB2’s passage, abortion enthusiasts have crawled out of the woodwork to decry the closures as a direct attack on their “right to abortion.” The media has been swift to measure the distance a woman might have to travel if their otherwise unfit abortion clinic were to close down. They predicted dire health consequences from the closures, none of which have materialized in the state.

Headline and screen grab from Slate Magazine article online

Yet, in light of the Texas OB unit closing, I hear only crickets when it comes to – oh- say “A woman’s right to a safe and simple delivery.” And, believe it or not, this is not a new phenomenon women are facing in the state or the nation for that matter [still hearing crickets?].

According to ACOG, “Rural America” is home to 22.8% of U.S. women aged 18 years and older. Each year, about 500,000 women in the United States give birth in rural hospitals, yet easy access to labor and delivery units has been declining.

Rural Obstetrics

A spokesperson for the Texas Presbyterian Hospital told Fox4 that many rural hospitals have closed their OB Unites in past years. This includes Ennis Regional Medical Center which discontinued obstetrics services in 2016.

According to a report, published in 2007 by the The Walsh Center for Rural Health Analysis, entitled Why Are Fewer Hospitals in the Delivery Business?, from 1985 to 2000, the number of hospitals that provided obstetric services dropped by 23%. As a result, more than one-third of counties in the US lacked hospital-based obstetric services in 2000, significantly more than the one-fifth of counties without hospital-based obstetric services in 1985.

A 2015 story published by NPR reported that 17 of 54 of Alabama’s rural counties have hospitals that offer obstetrics services, calling it, “one of the state’s greatest healthcare challenges.” Even more shocking, a 2016 study of rural hospitals nationwide found that 7.2 percent of rural hospitals in the study had closed their obstetric units. The authors who published their findings in the January issue of Health Services Research also found that:

These units were smaller in size, more likely to be privately owned, and located in communities with lower family income, fewer obstetricians, and fewer family physicians. Prenatal care was still available in 17 of 19 communities, but local women would need to travel an average of 29 additional miles to access intrapartum care.

“The fact that closures continue happening — over time that means the nearest hospital gets farther and farther away,” Katy Kozhimannil, who co-authored the analysis told Kaiser Health News.

The disconnect between accessing obstetric services versus abortion services for women in the state Texas as well nationwide is glaring. It reveals that the majority of abortion defenders are more concerned about whether low-income and/or rural women access abortion rather than having access to a place where they can safely give birth. This displaced focus also reveals that the media is lax in reporting the full story of what is happening in Texas. And, while we await the Supreme Court’s decision on the Texas pro-life law, one thing is certain, the circus around abortion will continue while more obstetrics units close down.

Media focus is Planned Parenthood shooting while ignoring violence at other medical centers

Posted in Planned Parenthood media mouthpieces with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on November 29, 2015 by saynsumthn

“Shots fired at clinic,” those are words we have all heard over and over again this weekend after a deranged man, Robert Lewis Dear, went to a Planned Parenthood and shot and killed three people including officer Garrett Swasey, unrelated to the abortion clinic, injuring five officers and four civilians.

Shots fired Planned Parenthood

But, I am not talking about Planned Parenthood, I am talking about an October shooting at a VA Clinic that the national media has not reported about. I wonder why? It’s a clinic, involves a gun, and police right? All ingredients for a sensational story- one would think.

The pro-abortion media tries to paint Planned Parenthood as a regular “health center” yet, when there is a shooting at a Planned Parenthood it becomes headline story for days, weeks, months on end while other medical facility shootings take back stage or get no reporting at all.

One example is this one in Rockford, Illinois, September 28,2015.

From ABC7Chicago:

Steven Dummer W=315&MaxH=315

A gunman who held police at bay for hours inside a medical clinic in Rockford after firing shots inside the building is now in custody, police say. Police said Steven Dummer, of Rochelle, opened fire on the second floor of the Crusader Community Health Clinic in the 1100-block of Broadway around 2:30 p.m. Monday. Anywhere from two to five shots were fired, police said. Police responded quickly and all patients and staff made it out of the building safely. No one was injured in the incident.

According to the Rockford Register Star:

After a four-hour standoff with Rockford police, Steven A. Dummer, 36, of Rochelle, surrendered without incident and was arrested on charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon. He is being held in the Winnebago County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 29. It was not clear Tuesday why Dummer was at the clinic or what prompted him to shoot. However, police did say he had threatened suicide. While Dummer negotiated with police from a second-floor lobby, Eggers said the staff went above and beyond evacuating the clinic. “We had pediatricians carrying children out,” he said. “We had physicians caring for people in the parking lot. We had staff driving people home who couldn’t get to their cars in the parking lot. We have a pharmacy in the clinic, but patients weren’t able to use it. So we had staff picking up prescriptions at other locations.

In June of this year a doctor was shot and killed at a Texas medical clinic, reports India West:

Indian American cardiologist Suresh Gadasalli, who performed the world’s first simultaneous hybrid revascularization, was shot dead by his friend and business associate who then committed suicide in Odessa, Texas, police said. Gadasalli, 53, was shot dead by 60-year-old patient and business associate Ayyasamy Thangam at the Healthy Heart Center June 11, according to a release issued by the Odessa Police Department.

His patients reacted in shock as NewsWest9 reported:

A day after Dr. Suresh Gadasalli was shot to death at the Healthy Heart Clinic, his patients are remembering their caretaker and friend.
“I was shocked,” said Cathy Connally. “I couldn’t believe it. I said, ‘No, that can’t be true. He was so nice.’ I thought, ‘who would hurt him?'” ….Thursday afternoon, tragedy struck when one of Dr. Gadasalli’s patients and business partners, Ayyasamy Thangam, shot Gadasalli multiple times before ending his own life. “It said Doctor Shot at Healthy Heart Center and I thought, ‘wait.’ I looked at my friend and I said it’s the Healthy Heart Center. I said it’s Dr. Gadasalli,”

A Boston cardiologist was shot and killed on his way into his offices this past January, reports the Wall Street Journal:

Police said they believe the apparent gunman, 55-year-old Stephen Pasceri of Millbury, Mass., was targeting Dr. Davidson when the gunman entered the Carl J. and Ruth Shapiro Cardiovascular Center about 11 a.m. Mr. Pasceri went to the surgeon’s second-floor office and asked to speak to him, police said. After an altercation in a foyer between the waiting room and an examination room, the assailant shot Dr. Davidson twice, police said. Mr. Pasceri was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in an examination room, they said.

In September, an Ohio man had planned to take several weapons to a clinic before police apprehended him, according to this Fox8 report:

Charles R. Shaw, 76, killed his own son during an argument on Sherwin Drive in Twinsburg Tuesday evening, police said. According to the preliminary report from the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office, Charles Shaw was angry about his medications from Cleveland Clinic. “Charles got two weapons, a rifle and a 38 caliber, and was going to Cleveland Clinic to do some damage,” the report said. “Scott Shaw attempted to stop his father and was then shot by his father.” When officers arrived, Charles Shaw was reloading his gun near the body of 55-year-old Scott R. Shaw. Police said Charles Shaw refused to put down his weapon and pointed it at police. That’s when an officer fatally shot him.

And this month, a man killed his step-daughter and himself at a Florida hospital. November 23, 2015 WTSP reported:

A man killed a woman visiting a hospital Monday then turned the gun on himself Monday morning, authorities said. Alonna Tedesco, 41, was shot on the third floor of Florida Hospital, north of downtown Tampa, then was rushed to the emergency room, where she later died, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Col. Donna Lusczynski said. The shooter, who also died, has been identified as Tedesco’s step-father, 70-year-old Steven Reynolds.

And there were more:

Security camera captures disgruntled patient shooting marbles at clinic (here).

In March, a man and a woman were found dead after the man stormed a medical office building in downtown Fresno and shot the mother of his five children at close range. (more here)

In January, VA psychologist Timothy Fjordbak, was allegedly shot and killed by Jerry Serrato, on the fourth floor of an El Paso Veteran Affairs Clinic (read here).

In January, a California man, Vincent Heard, was arrested on suspicion of shooting a nurse inside a mental health urgent care facility. The nurse, a 24-year-old man whose name was not released, was taken to the hospital after he suffered a gunshot wound. (more here).

MEDIA MISLEADS

Robert Lewis Dear EefUYAAkYmH

The media would lead you to believe that shootings at medical facilities happen only to abortion clinics, but this is misleading. While there have been 8 other people killed in the past 40 years at abortion clinics, there are numerous incidents at medical facilities across the nation that do not involve abortion.

According to a study in Annals of Emergency Medicine, in 2000-2011 the United States had 154 hospital-related shootings.

91 (59%) inside the hospital and 63 (41%) outside on hospital grounds.
    235 injured or dead victims.
The Emergency Department environs were the most common site (29%), followed by the parking lot (23%), and patient rooms (19%).
Most events involved a determined shooter with a strong motive defined by a grudge (27%), suicide (21%), “euthanizing” an ill relative (14%), and prisoner escape (11%).
Ambient society violence (9%) and mentally unstable patients (4%) were comparatively infrequent.
The most common victim was the perpetrator (45%).
Hospital employees composed of 20% of victims.
-Physicians (3%) and nurses (5%) victims were relatively infrequent.
In 23% of shootings with the Emergency Department, the weapon was a security officer’s gun that was taken by the perpetrator.

According to stats collected by the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries, homicides involving shootings occurred at Dentist offices, Chiropractor, Outpatient Care Centers, Kidney Dialysis centers, hospital and surgical centers as well as psychological and mental health clinics.

Fatal occupation workplace health shootings'

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), in 2013, healthcare workers reported an estimated 9,200 workplace violence incidents, with the majority of these perpetrated by patients or their family members. This represents 67% of all nonfatal violence-related injuries from an industry that only represents 11.5% of all workers.

A 2013 report released by the Federal Bureau of Investigations indicated an increasing trend in workplace active shooter incidents from an average of 6.4 incidents per year for the first 7 years of the study to an average of 16.4 per year in the last 7 years of the study. Some recent studies have indicated that the healthcare environment is not excluded from the increase in this particular type of violence. One recent study on hospital-based shootings reported an increase from 9 active shooter incidents per year during the 2000 to 2005 time period to almost 17 per year during the 2006 to 2011 time period.

Workplace homicide shootings

The Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI) conducted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) provides an annual count of fatal work injuries in the United States, including homicides. From 2006 to 2010, an average of 551 workers per year were killed as a result of work-related homicides. In 2010 (the last year for which final data are available), CFOI reported a total of 518 workplace homicides, or 11 percent of all fatal work injuries that occurred that year. A total of 77 of those were multiple-fatality homicide incidents in which two or more workers were killed, including 69 homicides and 8 assailant suicides, all of whom were in work status at the time of the incident.

Shootings accounted for 78 percent of all workplace homicides in 2010 (405 fatal injuries). More than four-fifths (83 percent) of these workplace homicides from shootings occurred in the private sector, while only 17 percent of such shootings occurred in government.

While I strongly condemn any violence, I find the way the media reports on abortion clinic violence to be slanted in favor of the abortion agenda. Otherwise, every health clinic or medical facility shooting would be national news, and it is not. This, of course, does not mitigate any outrage nor condemnation of what Dear did whatever his motives end up being.

But, if you are to look honestly you can see that the national media sensationalizes violence at abortion or Planned Parenthood clinics while not reporting shootings at all other medical centers the same way. They censor the acts of violence against Christians, churches, and pro-life people. In addition, while the topic is Planned Parenthood, the media will resurrect the murder of late term abortion doctor George Tiller while continuing to censor the fact that women die from abortion including a Black women who was left bleeding INSIDE Planned Parenthood. For a look at that, just do a search on this site for Tonya Reaves.

Although speculations that Dear was motivated by recent Center for Medical Progress videos which documented how Planned Parenthood engaged in a baby parts harvesting operation, his neighbors in North Carolina say they never heard him discuss abortion or religion. According to reports, many considered him strange and even delusional, while some also assumed he might be dangerous and kept their kids indoors when they saw him. Others called Dear weird and said they kept an eye on him because he seemed paranoid, telling people that he was a government agent and knew important secrets as a result.

Whatever authorities or the media claim Dear’s motive is, one thing is for certain, he is not pro-life!

Abortion patient sees her baby during procedure “I saw this red bucket on the floor…”

UPDATE: Since publishing this blog, Jessica’s mom has contacted Saynsumthn, she has stated that she has not changed her opinions on abortion as stated originally. Saynsumthn reported what Jessica said in her public interview but in fairness is adding this disclaimer along with the mother’s comments (below) to the post.

A woman whose abortion at 23 weeks landed her in the hospital spoke out recently about her regret and the harm her decision has cost her.

Jessica D. was interviewed by Al Kresta along with pro-life advocate Lynn Mills. Jessica met Mills after she saw a comment Mills posted on this blog.

The hour long interview was emotional and full of details which may disturb some readers, be warned.

BACKGROUND

Jessica was married and had a disabled child when, in February of 2014 she and her husband made the decision to have an abortion. She said that when she found out she was pregnant- she was panicked.

“When you’re in panic mode you don’t think – you don’t have emotions to fix things,” she told Al Kresta.

Jessica recounted how her mom had worked for Planned Parenthood years before she decided to have her abortion.

She thought her mom, who remained relatively silent when she contemplated the decision to have an abortion, was supportive.

But after she had the second trimester procedure Jessica said that her mom shocked her by asking why she did not place the child for adoption instead.

“I grew up in a very pro-choice home. We were not very religious and pro-lifers were crazy – that lie and nothing is the truth and they stretch the truth and you can’t trust it
,” Jessica said.

Although Jessica mentioned her pregnancy to her mom who was not employed by Planned Parenthood at the time, she was not involved in her ultimate decision to have the abortion.

“After I had the procedure and she knew all along, she said to me on the phone: Why didn’t you just give it up for adoption? And, to hear my mom say that was the most heartbreaking thing she said because my mom was always for abortion and women’s rights.”

THE ABORTION

In February of 2014, Jessica went to the offices of abortionist Jacob Kalo who set up an appointment for her to see another abortionist, in Lathrup Village, his name was Reginald Sharpe.

ReginaldSharpe-SummitMedicalCenter03082013-120x160

Jessica was 23 weeks and 5 days along just under the 24 week limit in Michigan.

Jessica told Kresta that she was not given any counseling by the abortion clinic.

It was just a price given,” she stated.

“He said right then it would be $4000.00 the week before the 27th. And we didn’t have the full amount and he said it goes up- the longer you wait the higher it is.”

Jessica said the abortionist then gave her advice on how to get a second mortgage on her house or car.

“He said if I get past 24 weeks he would refer me to go to New York.”

babyat20weeks

Jessica said she was not shown any fetal development pictures as well.

Michigan state law requires an informed consent before an abortion can be performed. In most cases abortion minded women would be able to review informed consent documents online prior to the procedure. But in Jessica’s case, even though Planned Parenthood did not perform the abortion, she was able to go to them to review the informed consent package.

“When I went for my 24 hour consent form at Planned Parenthood, they said ‘now you don’t have to open this packet. This is for the pro-lifers and this isn’t accurate.’ And so, even looking at that I didn’t know what to trust.”

According to Michigan law, the following documents are required to be given to a woman seeking an abortion at least 24 hours prior to the abortion procedure:

A written summary of the abortion procedure she will undergo.
Depictions, illustrations or photographs of fetal development corresponding to the gestational age nearest the probable gestational age of the woman’s fetus.
    Prenatal care information
    Parenting information

THE PROCEDURE

Jessica said the abortion procedure was unlike anything the clinics advertise online. She called the treatment “poor at best.”

“Its like you’re not even human,” she stated.

“It’s so bad I was put into the room and into stirrups and no clothes and nothing covering and I waited for about an hour and a half. There is no dignity in it and it’s painful. It’s like you’re not even there.”

The abortion was a two day procedure.

DAY ONE:

The first day, Jessica said that she received an injection of digoxin and her overall visit to the clinic lasted about twenty minutes.

Digoxin is a drug injected into an unborn baby to cause his or her heart to stop in preparation for what amounts to a stillborn birth.

It was very painful, Jessica reiterated.

“The first day I was told there would be mild cramping. And, you actually go into labor. When they send you home…I had my son natural and this was much worse.”

Because the pain was so acute, Jessica’s husband called the abortion clinic’s emergency number and they told her under no circumstances to go to the emergency room.

DAY TWO

Jessica said that on day two she was not given any pain medication for the procedure.

I was told I would have medications and fluids…I was expecting sedation and medication,” she said.

She recalls that after forty-five minutes the abortionist had to stop to call 911 due to a perforated uterus and massive blood loss.

When he did perforate my uterus, I had sat up,” she said.

What happened next will remain ingrained in Jessica’s mind forever.

She continues, “And I saw this red bucket on the floor and – uh – what I saw was just…” at that point in the interview Jessica could not say it, but Mills explained that what Jessica saw was her dismembered baby.

It was so painful,” she said.

“It was pulling- he was pulling.”

Jessica told Kresta that while she lay there bleeding she felt that it would be better if she would just die.

According to Jessica, parts of her almost 24 week unborn child had gone outside the perforation and the abortionist was having difficulty removing them. She told Mills earlier that the abortionist had been training another doctor to do the later term procedure that day.

While Jessica waited for the emergency responders, she said the doctor changed his clothes and “Swiffered and cleaned up. Then, they placed an IV for the EMS people and kind of scrambled around.” She remained unclothed during this time, she stated.

WOmanCare 911

Mills sent Saynsumthn a transcript of the February 28, 2014 911 call were abortionists Reginald Sharpe tells the dispatcher they need to come right away because, “she has a hole and she’s bleeding.”

You can read that here.

According to Mills, after the EMS techs arrived, the abortionist would not allow them to take her out the front door. She was removed out the back door which made the transfer more excruciating for Jessica who was already in pain.

Jessica said that prior to making the decision to have the abortion, she had no expectation that anything would go wrong because everything she read online said it was a simple and safe procedure.

As a result of the botched abortion, Jessica had to remain hospitalized for several days.

REGRET

Jessica said that days after she was released from the hospital she began to realize just what she had done in having the abortion.

She said she began to look up information online to try and discover why her experience was so unlike what she had read about regarding abortions generally.

“I had a big conflict in my heart about my procedure and why everything I read online was not what happened to me.”

Over ten months my life was just devastated,” Jessica emotionally stated, “I lost over eighty pounds.”

Jessica said the abortion put incredible strain on the marriage.

“I don’t think he realized how, like I didn’t realize how fully formed and what we had done.It was terrible.”

“I had actually had a suicide plan at that time things were so low,” she said.

According to Jessica, meeting Lynn Mills was her last effort to make sense of what had happened.

Lynn Mills 162752_000_GI89G63UR.1-0Mills said that Jessica found her online after reading a post at Saynsumthn’s blog (here) and got Mills’ e-mail address from the comment she had left for another abortion patient.

She then contacted Mills.

Mills is helping Jessica work through the pain and regret of the abortion.

Jessica said that she is planning to get counseling for the abortion as well as her marriage. She is working on forgiving herself.

WomensCenterSouthfield SuspendedMill

According to Mills, the state of Michigan has since suspended the license of the abortion clinic.

CONCLUSION

Jessica and Mills have become friends and Jessica said Mills is someone she can tell everything about this experience to without judgement.

I want pro-lifers out there to really be kind and loving to my friend Jessica…All I want to do is love her- just love her and get her healthy. Jessica doesn’t want this to happen to anyone else,” Mills said in closing.

Jessica said that her mother has actually changed her position on abortion as a result of what she experienced.

UPDATED AFTER THIS BLOG WAS PUBLISHED: However, Jessica’s mother says she has not changed her mind by writing this in the comments, “I am Jessica’s mother. I was never interviewed by anyone, nor did I change my “position” about abortion. This blog is not factual in many areas. Please keep this in mind when reading.”

Mills encourages pro-lifers to go out to abortion clinics as often as possible to try and reach the Jessicas who might be considering ending their child’s life.

Jessica knows that telling her story will anger some people. She said she came forward because she wanted others to know they do not have to go through what she did and to seek help not abortion if you are a women in a crisis pregnancy.

Hospital accused of stealing Black babies from poor women years ago

Posted in Black Babies with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 13, 2015 by saynsumthn

After a woman found the daughter she thought had died at birth, an attorney now says other poor young black women may have had their babies taken from them.

Zella Price hostital stole black babies

In the emotional video below Zella Price was reunited with her daughter 49 years after the hospital told her that her daughter had died.

Attorney Al Watkins says he is questioning the practices at the old Homer G. Phillips Hospital which was built for African Americans in St. Louis.

Homer G Wells Hospital

“This was a well thought out scheme and artifice,” Watkins.

Watkins feels strongly that babies were taken from young mothers and then sold in the 50’s and 60’s.

He said, “There was absolutely available on the market infant black children, pay for play cash on delivery you want a baby get some money.

Jessie Ferguson was born at the hospital and claims that he has a twin which was taken at birth.

Joyce McKinley

His mother, Joyce McKinley, was 15 years old when she delivered twins at the hospital. She claims that the doctor told her the baby was dead, and he ran out of the room.

She never received a birth or death certificate for Jessie’s brother and was not allowed to bury the child.

Watkins believes dozens of women may have had their babies stolen from the hospital.

This blog has covered the eugenics attitude toward Blacks at this time.

The St. Louis County Council has now passed a resolution calling on “complete disclosure” of all public health records from the hospital.

Did Planned Parenthood use bully tactics to get transfer agreement ? (Hail Satan)

Posted in Abortion Sacred, Planned Parenthood Hospital Transfer with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on March 17, 2015 by saynsumthn

Did Planned Parenthood’s threat to sue lead to hospital transfer agreement paving way for abortions?

I have been blogging on the community outrage that the city of El Centro, California has allowed a Hospital transfer agreement to go through which will allow Planned Parenthood to begin providing abortions. El Centro is the seat of Imperial County, which borders Mexico.

David Gibbs addreses prolifers 876_818491719871650855_o

Now it has been revealed by Alliance Defending Freedom, that Planned Parenthood reportedly threatened to sue El Centro Regional Medical Center trustees in their personal capacity and falsely claimed the city-run hospital could lose public funding if it refused to sign an agreement that paves the way for Planned Parenthood to begin performing abortions in the city.

The threat apparently led the hospital’s board of trustees to break several provisions of California’s open meetings law in a rush to make a decision on the agreement, according to a letter Alliance Defending Freedom sent Monday to the medical center on behalf of Imperial Valley Coalition for Life. The letter asks the board of trustees to take action to rectify their violations of state law.

Over 2,000 abortion opponents showed up at a El Centro City Council meeting to protest a transfer agreement to Planned Parenthood.

Marcus Shapior asked to leave Planned Parenthood meeting

As I blogged the other day, one of Planned Parenthood’s supporters was kicked out of the meeting, and as he left he could be heard yelling, “Hail Satan.”

Marcus Hail Satan Planned Parenthood

Read that account here.

The ADF letter sent Monday outlines numerous other problems with how the board conducted its vote and closed-door meeting, including that state law does not allow the board to conduct or debate such a vote in private (regardless of whether the vote was final), that the board did not properly announce the closed-door meeting, and that the board allowed unauthorized persons into the meeting.

A March 2 letter from ADF and the coalition requested related documents, which must be disclosed according to California’s open records law. A March 12 letter from the city clerk, which ADF received Tuesday, denied the records request and refused to provide any information other than a copy of the signed transfer agreement.

The chief duty of public officials is to the public, not Planned Parenthood,” said ADF Legal Counsel Natalie Decker. “We regret that Planned Parenthood placed the board into a position it should never have been placed into, but the board has a public duty to abide by state law, and it still has the opportunity to rectify that.”

Chris Nunn, a leader of the Imperial Valley Coalition for Life, is scheduled to speak at a public El Centro City Council meeting Tuesday regarding the matter. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. PDT at El Centro City Hall.

Imperial Valley Coalition for Choice Planned Parenthood

In retaliation to the removal of the Planned Parenthood man who yelled, “Hail Satan”, Imperial Valley Coalition for Choice which supports abortion and Planned Parenthood has posted these instructions to their members about the meeting, “If you come tomorrow night please make sure you have a camera or your cell phone ready to record, if you are approached by lifers record them…. they will use you threatened them first call ELPD and try to have you removed… be aware that these people want us removed so there is no one for Choice there.”

Marcus Shapario Coalition for Choice

Interestingly, Mr. “Hail Satan” himself, Marcus Shapiro, tweeted a link to the pro-choice group, and said, “Join our coalition for choice… they are trying to stop a Planned Parenthood from being built down here.”

On their Facebook page, Imperial Valley Coalition for Life posted this message, “The pro “choice” community are gearing up to try to trap us while we are standing together before the City Council. They are hoping to provoke a camera-worthy response that they can use to undermine our righteous cause. They have proven by their postings on this page that they have no qualms with being vulgar, obscene, malicious, threatening, obnoxious, or slanderous. Do not engage them in debate. Remember, we are gathering for a PRAYER vigil! This is the time for prayer and fasting. Let’s stand united and silent even in the face of their offenses.

An estimated 2,000 abortion opponents showed up Tuesday night at the El Centro City Council meeting to protest a transfer agreement to Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood has been building a health center on Fourth Street in El Centro.

El Centro Regional Medical Center, a city-owned hospital, signed a key transfer agreement needed for Planned Parenthood to operate a clinic where abortions, among other surgical procedures, will be performed.

We were a powerful presence at the ECRMC Board of Trustees meeting! Nearly 2000 people crowded into the parking lot outside of the Education Center singing praises and praying as Attorney David Gibbs III, Pastor Walter Colace, Pastor Chris Nunn, Marty Ellett, and Kori Peterson spoke on our behalf.

Mr. Gibbs was able to explain to the board their right to refuse to sign the transfer agreement and reassure them that if Planned Parenthood were to sue that he and the full weight of the NCLL (National Center for Life and Liberty) ncll.org/ would be available to defend against Planned Parenthood. As Mr. Gibbs expressed, if Planned Parenthood were to sue, “…they would lose!” Despite the board’s closed session vote that ignored the will of the people, we must continue our prayerful protest. We must not back down or go away. We must educate ourselves in the issue of abortion and be ready to answer the debate with loving but factual information that will educate but also heal. As much as we know that abortion is wrong, let us not forget the many many people who have been victims of the misinformation campaign led by Planned Parenthood.

Angel Wings Memory Gowns was created to help families during the devastating loss of a baby. The group of volunteers repurposes wedding dresses into burial gowns for infants who don’t come home from the hospitals.

On their Facebook page they write, “Our talented seamstresses re-purpose wedding and formal dresses into complimentary burial gowns for babies who earn their angel wings.”

Founder, Jennifer Jones said that each gown is different, she told a Tennessee news station that, “On the back of each gown we cut out a heart and then place it on a tag for the mother to see. It’s got scripture on it that tells about us and what we do. We take several gowns of each size to various hospitals in the area,” she states.

It’s hard to find clothes for babies who are before forty weeks gestation. So when parents lose a child that young, they don’t have anything to put them in….every child no matter how small should get something that they are able to wear,” Jones said.

In Texas, tiny Gracelynn Rae is being rocked by her father as he reads her scriptures. She died shortly after being born.

A Dallas TV station reports that Gracelynn Rae will forever be wrapped in a very special gown made from his sister-in-law’s wedding dress.

It’s a little part of me that gets to go with her,” Gracelynn’s aunt, Jenny Leon tells the news station, “It was just the best gift that I could think of at the time.”

The dress will be made by NICU Helping Hands, a Fort Worth non-profit organization founded in 2013 which turns wedding gowns into tiny angel gowns.

The non-profit has 900 seamstresses nationwide and says that they have mailed over 3,000 gowns and have an additional 5,000 that they are currently processing.

Founder Lisa Grubbs thanks the volunteers for the dress donations, “This is what it meant to have somebody honor our baby and their life, no matter how short it was. Thank you for understanding that a child matters, even in death.”
