Gates’ claim of not funding abortion undermined by billions

While the Gates Foundation works to reduce Africa’s populations, an expert suggests that money could be better spent in another way.
Bill and Melinda Gates recently reemphasized that their foundation does not fund abortion. But their web site points out that they have given $4 billion in 900 grants to International Planned Parenthood, United Nations Population Fund, Planned Parenthood of America and Marie Stokes International.
Dr. Brian Clowes of Human Life International tells OneNewsNow that all those groups promote and perform abortions.
“For them to say, ‘We don’t support abortion,’ is like somebody saying, ‘We don’t support racism,’ while they give billions of dollars to Aryan Nations and Ku Klux Klan,” Clowes remarks. “The Gates Foundation is doing more than any other foundation to push abortion all over the world. It’s definitely taken a pro-abortion position with $4 billion going to organizations that promote it.”
The U.S. has spent $102 billion on contraception and abortion in Africa and Latin America since 1995, without the added help of the Gates’ $4 billion.
“And if you took that $102 billion and put it into stuff like rural electrification, good schools, good roads, health care clinics and so on, you could have raised the standards of 25 million of the world’s poorest people to U.S. or European standards,” he explains. “That’s what’s called authentic economic development.”
Clowes says instead what has been accomplished is to “make large, poor families into small, poor families.”

Kudos to One News Now for clarifying the bogus claim that Gates Foundation does not support abortion. Saynsumthn has documented their pro-abortion stand for years.
In fact a look at the most recently published 990 from the Gates Foundation shows their financial support of Planned Parenthood and pro-choice organizations:
This 2013 990 clearly shows their support for abortion giant Planned Parenthood and IPPF.

A 2002 report by The Interim reveals that in 2000, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, named after Microsoft’s head and his wife, dispersed $212 million, or 15 per cent of its total grants, to “reproductive and child health” causes.
“‘Reproductive health care’ is the primary health need of women, yet limited resources in developing countries, combined with women’s economic and social position, often deprive women of access to the care they need and want,” says the foundation. “Increasing access to voluntary family planning services … are examples of the kinds of work supported by the foundation.”
Grants in the year 2000 alone included:
$8.8 million for five years to strengthen “the quality of reproductive healthcare” through the notorious International Planned Parenthood Federation in London, England.
$7.3 million for five years to PATH in Seattle, Wash. to support “family planning programs” in, of all places, China.
$1 million to Population Action International in Washington, D.C. to develop a comprehensive global strategy for ensuring “reproductive health commodity security.”
$243,000 to the United States Committee for the UNFPA, Inc. in New York to support “contraceptive logistics and management information systems” in Myanmar (Burma).
$1 million for three years to Vaestoliitto ry, the Family Federation of Finland in Helsinki, Finland to support “international reproductive health services.”
$1 million to the World Population Foundation in Hilversum, the Netherlands, to support “reproductive health and family planning services” in Asia.
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is on record donating to The Guttmacher Institute as well – a research arm of Planned Parenthood ( 2013 report here).

Bill GATES: When I was growing up, my parents were almost involved in various volunteer things. My dad was head of Planned Parenthood. And it was very controversial to be involved with that. And so it’s fascinating. At the dinner table my parents are very good at sharing the things that they were doing. And almost treating us like adults, talking about that. My mom was on the United Way group that decides how to allocate the money and looks at all the different charities and makes the very hard decisions about where that pool of funds is going to go. So I always knew there was something about really educating people and giving them choices in terms of family size.
