In an exchange with South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy Tuesday, Planned Parenthood’s president was asked about partial birth abortion.

The questioning was tied to a Congressional hearing determining whether Planned Parenthood should continue to receive the over $500 million dollars they receive each year from the tax payer. Planned Parenthood’s head, Cecile Richards answered questions relating to under cover videos recently released from the Center for Medical Progress which showed the abortion business engaged in the harvesting and selling of baby parts.

In the first video released by CMP, Planned Parenthood Federation of America Senior Director of Medical Services, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, appears to admit to using the illegal partial-birth abortion procedure (PBA) to get higher-quality fetal body parts to sell.

In the partial birth abortion procedure, an almost fully developed unborn baby is delivered from it’s mother, feet first, with only the head remaining inside the birth canal. The abortionist then punctures the child in the back of the neck with a pair of sharp scissors. The abortion doctor then sucks out the baby’s brain tissue to collapse the skull and deliver a dead baby.

In that shocking admission, Nucatola tells CMP investigators that the “Federal [partial birth] abortion ban is a law, and laws are up to interpretation” describing how their doctors bring the unborn baby into a breech position sounding eerily similar to the technique used in a partial borth abortion. She later tells the under cover “buyers of fetal tissue” that she will “crush below” and “crush above” the desired organ of the unborn child saying, “I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact.”

In Tuesday’s Congressional hearings, Rep. Gowdy asked Richards if she could understand how some lawmakers would support a ban on Partial Birth Abortion.

I’m not trying to be argumentative,” Richards begins her reply, “But that was a political formulation not a medical formulation. But I certainly understand that it was passed and is the law of the land and Planned Parenthood certainly meets the requirements of that law,” she stated.

Rep. Gowdy them specified that he was not asking if Planned Parenthood followed the law but whether she could understand how some people opposed the gruesome procedure.

“I understand how people can disagree based on their religious beliefs, their background their own personal experiences. And, I also understand that people sometimes change over time and that’s the human condition
,” Richards said.

This statement by Richards appeared to agitate Rep. Gowdy who quickly pointed out that there have been numerous Planned Parenthood and abortion clinic staffers who have “changed over time” and left the abortion industry because of what they saw or were required to take part in.

Richards ended the questioning by stating, “I think fundamentally at Planned Parenthood we take the position that we trust women to make their decisions about their pregnancy. I’ve made my own decisions as well so I fell that I can kind of walk in their shoes.

A 1995 letter to Members of Congress, Planned Parenthood, Alan Guttmacher Institute and others stated that partial birth abortions were only performed about 500 times a year on the most extreme health cases. This figure was challenged by an abortion advocate, when Ron Fitzsimmons the director of the National Coalition of Abortion Providers (NCAP) admitted that there were thousands of these gruesome abortion procedures done annually on healthy fetuses.
