NOW Prez: Abortion is Essential Medical care

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , on May 13, 2014 by saynsumthn

In a HUFFPO article NOW President Terry O’Neill callas abortion “Essential Medical Care”

Terry ONeill abortion is essential health

O’Neill writes, “When we talk about procedures and treatments that prevent heart attacks, we call it cardiac care. Children receive pediatric care, and anyone who takes ibuprofen is dealing with pain care.

So why would anyone object to calling a legal medical procedure that one in three women will utilize in their lifetime abortion care?

After all, that’s what it is — essential, effective medical care. Let’s take a break from the political side of the discussion about choice and look at it from a different point of view. How do birth control and abortion care improve the public health?

It gets more bizzare:
Now Prez Terry ONeill

“From a public health point of view, abortion care, no less than contraception, is an essential measure to prevent the heartbreak of infant mortality, and to prevent another tragedy as well — maternal death,” the pro-abortion advocate claims, “I’ll continue to fight for reproductive rights and choice — but when I talk about abortion, I’ll call it abortion care. And so should you,” O’Neill concludes.

NOW PREZ: ROE DID NOT GIVE WOMEN RIGHT TO MAKE DECISION ON ABORTION

Recently the National Organization for [Some] Women president, agreed with MSNBC’s Chris Hayes that Roe did not give the woman a RIGHT to make a decision on abortion- it gave the “right” to the “doctor” !

NOW Prez Chris Hayes

MSNBC’s Chris Hayes tells his guests that Roe was “about the right of privacy – of the doctor.”

Hayes continues, “I mean the people don’t realize this The finding in Roe, I’m going to read this is – this is the controlling opinion in Roe, Harry Blackmun…

Roe Abortion is Docs DecisionRoe Abortion is Docs Decision 2

Prior to approximately the end of the first trimester, the abortion decision and it’s effectuation must be left to the medical judgment of the pregnant woman’s attending physician. The decision vindicates the right of the physician to administer medical treatment according to his professional judgment…

Hayes points out, “So even Roe was shot through with this perspective.”

National Organization for [Some] Women president, Terry O’Neill agrees and replies, “Even Roe and Chris, it gets worse. The case after Roe, Planned Parenthood V. Casey, Sandra Day O’Connor talking about how women aren’t necessarily the right people to make this decision, that the state should have the right to proselytize her, to pressure her to encourage her to make the decision that that the state wants her to make. Later on in Carhart, in the Carhart case, that upheld the criminalization of a safe abortion procedure, a late-term procedure, Justice Kennedy specifically said it’s okay to criminalize this safe procedure for women because women regret the choice they make. So the law is riddled with distrust of women’s ability to make their decisions.”

The rest of the segment is about placing a Birthing Center where unborn children are delivered alive inside an abortion clinic which murders unborn children. I have already blogged about that Oxymoron here !

NOW president: Ann Romney lacks “life experience” and “imagination” to relate to most Americans

H/T Hot Air

Via Newsbusters, NOW President Terry O’Neill ignores the First Rule of Holes (stop digging!) and provides another cycle for Republicans to defend Ann Romney and stay-at-home moms. Instead of leaving bad enough alone, O’Neill appeared on Ed Schultz’ MSNBC show last night and attempted to rewrite Hilary Rosen’s faceplant and keep the attack on Ann Romney for not having a salaried job in the workforce as a means to paint the Romneys as out of touch. Say, remember when feminism meant supporting the choices of women and defending them from being marginalized and demeaned? Good times, good times:

NOW president: Ann Romney lacks “life experienc…, posted with vodpod

TERRY O’NEILL: What would we be saying if Hillary Clinton had said this: that Ann Romney has never, has not worked for pay outside the home a day in her life? That’s my understanding that’s an accurate statement, and that raises the exact issue that Hilary Rosen was trying to get to, which is do Mr. & Mrs. Romney have the kind of life experience and if not, the imagination, to really understand what most American families are going through right now? I think that that was what Hilary was getting out, and so she left out the words “for pay outside the home.”
