State serves subpoenas on several Planned Parenthood centers

Members of the Texas Office of the Inspector General made unannounced visits at Planned Parenthood centers in Houston, Dallas and San Antonio, staying in some cases for several hours and giving Planned Parenthood 24 hours to deliver thousands of pages of documents stored at its facilities across the state, the organization told Reuters.

The Inspector General Office declined to comment, as did health officials. Inspector General agents were seen on local news reports entering a Planned Parenthood facility in San Antonio.

State #3 yanks Planned Parenthood Medicaid contract over gruesome baby parts vids

Posted in Medicaid Billing Practices, Planned Parenthood Medicaid Contract with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on August 6, 2015 by saynsumthn

Saynsumthn has been blogging about Planned Parenthood’s Medicaid Fraud for a while, so when they claim these states (below) are conducting a war on women, set the record straight.

From Life Dynamics:

A third state has terminated the Medicaid contract they held with Planned Parenthood following videos exposing their baby parts operation.

Earlier this week, New Hampshire’s Executive Council voted, 3 to 2, to reject contracts that would have provided Planned Parenthood centers in the state with about $638,000 over two years, roughly one-third of the public funding for the centers, which is primarily federal.

A report from WMUR reads in part:

In rejecting the contract, Republican councilors cited recently released videos by anti-abortion activists showing the organization’s officials discussing providing medical researchers with tissue from aborted fetuses. Conservatives are alleging that the organization is profiting from selling fetal tissue, a charge it denies. Planned Parenthood of Northern New England does not engage in the voluntary tissue donation program, but the Republican councilors told Gov. Maggie Hassan the state should launch a state-based investigation.

“You can’t divorce what’s going on nationally from Planned Parenthood of Northern New England and we need a real investigation,” said GOP Councilor David Wheeler.

Chris SUnunu

Republican councilor Chris Sununu who previously voted to support Planned Parenthood contracts said that he is pro-choice on abortion but he received more than 1,000 messages from constituents who overwhelmingly urged him to reject the contract.

Things are different now. We have to take a step back and just take a pause and say ‘Is this a company and a business that we should be actively engaging (with)?'” he asked.

Also pulling funding was Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal who announced that his state cut off Planned Parenthood from Medicaid funding August 3rd.

According to the announcement, the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals informed Planned Parenthood it was exercising its right to terminate Planned Parenthood’s Medicaid provider agreement, the press release stated.

Bobby Jindal

Governor Jindal said that, because of the videos, he directed DHH to investigate Planned Parenthood’s activities in Louisiana and also sent a letter to both the Louisiana Inspector General and the F.B.I. asking them to assist in the investigation.

“In recent weeks, it has been shocking to see reports of the alleged activities taking place at Planned Parenthood facilities across the country. Planned Parenthood does not represent the values of the people of Louisiana and shows a fundamental disrespect for human life. It has become clear that this is not an organization that is worthy of receiving public assistance from the state,” the 2016 presidential candidate said.

In addition to Louisiana and New Hampshire, today republican Alabama Governor Robert Bentley has announced that the state has terminated their Medicaid contract with Planned Parenthood.

Yellowhammer obtained a copy of the letter sent to Planned Parenthood CEO Staci Fox.

Alabama cuts off medicaid Planned Parenthood

“The nation is shocked by videos depicting Planned Parenthood employees callously discussing the dismemberment of babies and the sale of baby body parts for profit. This is like a story out of Nazi Germany,” said Sen. Bill Hightower (R-Mobile) during the committee hearing.

The federal authorities may allow this type of thing, but Alabama won’t – and upon final passage, Alabama will have a law that reflects Alabama’s values.”

Bill Heightower Ala Planned Parenthood

Sen Hightower also introduced legislation in the state that will make it a felony to offer or accept money for aborted babies, “Because if the feds don’t deal with it, we will,” he added.

An Alabama Senate committee approved the bill today which will now move to the full Senate.

“The deplorable practices at Planned Parenthood have been exposed to Americans, and I have decided to stop any association with the organization in Alabama,” said Governor Bentley. “As a doctor and Alabama’s Governor, the issue of human life, from conception to birth and beyond, is extremely important to me. I respect human life, and I do not want Alabama to be associated with an organization that does not.”

Robert Bentley ALAa_o-e1434479146404

Alabama Congressman Bradley Byrne is now calling on the Department of Justice to investigate Planned Parenthood.

Last month, Life Dynamics reported that a Wisconsin lawmaker introduced a bill that could eliminate at least half of the funding Planned Parenthood gets in the state by reducing over-billing through Medicaid by the abortion giant.

The legislation came following calls from 24 lawmakers asking for a Planned Parenthood audit.

The state of Texas has sued Planned Parenthood for Medicaid fraud, a point Governor Greg Abbot bragged about recently on twitter announcing his call for an investigation:

Gov Gregg Abbott Planned Parenthood

“I already sued Planned Parenthood for Medicaid Fraud. Now Texas will look into these organ harvesting claims,” the Governor tweeted.

In 2013, Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, the very affiliate operating the Houston abortion clinic now exposed by the Center for Medical Progress, settled for $4.3 million with the state of Texas after an audit revealed that the agency charged for “fraudulently over billing the taxpayer-funded Medicaid program.”

According to the Houston Chronicle, on July 30,2013, Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast settled fraudulent Medicaid billing lawsuit with the state to the tune of $4.3 million – nearly $3 million more than was originally announced by then Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott.

Americans United for Life has also documented alleged abuses by Planned Parenthood.

In a published entitled, The Case for Investigating Planned Parenthood, they list the misuse of federal health care and family planning funds and admissions by former employees as detailing a pattern of misuse by some Planned Parenthood affiliates. (read here)

A 2014 report by the legal group, Alliance Defending Freedom, entitled, “Profit No Matter What,” makes similar claims.

In 2002, Life Dynamics, Inc. contacted over 800 Planned Parenthood and abortion facilities nationwide. Their caller portrayed a 14 year old child impregnated by an adult male. In this transcript of the call which you can listen to here, an Alabama abortion clinic told the “14 year old” that her adult boyfriend who is obviously having sex with the minor can come to the abortion clinic with the child for a pregnancy test- no effort was made to contact authorities about the statutory rape !

CLINIC: Reproductive Health Service. May I help you?

CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was calling to see if you guys do abortions there.

CLINIC: Yes, we do.

CALLER: How much does it cost for that?

CLINIC: Six to ten weeks, it’s $400. And it goes up $75 each week after the 10th week.

CALLER: Well, how do you know how far along you are?

CLINIC: From your last period.

CALLER: Well, that was January 3rd.

CLINIC: January 3rd? Okay. I have you at about five weeks.

CALLER: Okay. So how much would it be then?

CLINIC: Four hundred dollars.

CALLER: The thing is, I’m going to be 14 later on this month. And my friend told me that you guys would have to tell my parents. But my boyfriend’s 22. Is he old enough to take care of it, and you wouldn’t have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: Okay. You’re 14 years old?

CALLER: Well, I’ll be 14 on the 19th of this month.

CLINIC: You’ll be how old?

CALLER: Fourteen years old.

CLINIC: Okay. Yeah. You would have to have your legal guardian come in here and sign for you, and they’d have to bring a birth certificate.

CALLER: Oh. Well, I can’t tell my parents at all. If they found out that me and my boyfriend were having sex, I don’t know what they would do.

CLINIC: I’m sorry, ma’am. Anywhere you go, they’re — yeah, you have to have your parents sign for you since you’re under age. And that’s anywhere.

CALLER: Well, there’s no way to not have to tell my parents?

CLINIC: No, uh-uh. You have to — it has to be — you have to come in here with your legal guardian, with your birth certificate, and that’s everywhere.

CALLER: Well, could I come in there for a pregnancy test just to make sure?

CLINIC: Yeah, uh-huh. You can come in here for a pregnancy test.

CALLER: But will my parents have to be there for that?

CLINIC: No, not for a pregnancy test they don’t

CALLER: Okay. It’s just me and my boyfriend were talking about all this. He said that he would pay for everything, but we don’t want anyone to know about us. Would he have to sign anything if he was paying for it all?

CLINIC: Yeah. I mean, he could pay for it, but your parents still have to come in here and sign for you.

CALLER: For a pregnancy test?

CLINIC: No, no, no, not for a pregnancy test, for a procedure.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: A pregnancy test, you can come on in and get the pregnancy test without your parents.

CALLER: And my boyfriend can come with me for that?

CLINIC: Yeah, he can.

CALLER: How much does it cost for a pregnancy test?

CLINIC: One test is $2. You have to be at least two weeks for your period. One test is $15. That’s the day you’re suppose to start your period. And one is $20. That’s a blood test. That’s two weeks before your period.

CALLER: Well, which one’s the best one?

CLINIC: When did you say your last period was?

CALLER: January 3rd.

CLINIC: You could take the $2 test, and that should pick up.

CALLER: Really?

CLINIC: Yeah. If not, I’d run the $15 test on you.

CALLER: Okay. Well, it turned out that I wasn’t pregnant, could I get birth control from you guys?

CLINIC: Uh-huh. You’d have to have a pap. A pap is $80.

CALLER: But would you have to tell anybody if I was getting birth control though?

CLINIC: No, uh-uh, not birth control, only the procedure.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Okay. How much should I bring for the pregnancy test and birth control then?

CLINIC: Okay. Can you hold, please?

CALLER: Okay.

(Pause)

CLINIC: Okay, ma’am. I’m sorry about that.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: What was I saying?

CALLER: Well, how much does it cost? Would I get the pregnancy test and the birth control pills on the same day?

CLINIC: If you would like to, if you got the pap the same day you took the pregnancy test.

CALLER: Well, how much should I bring for all that?

CLINIC: Well, the pap is $80. And then it just depends what pregnancy test you want to take. We’ll just say 15 just in case. So bring about $100 with you.

CALLER: And he can pay in cash?

CLINIC: Uh-huh. We don’t take personal checks. Cash, Master Card, Visa, American Express.

CALLER: Okay. So you just don’t take personal checks?

CLINIC: Um-hmm.

CALLER: If I had any other questions, could I call and talk to you? What was your name?

CLINIC: Yeah. My name’s Amber.

CALLER: Okay. All right. Thanks.

CLINIC: Okay. You’re welcome.

Houston abortion clinic shut down due to pro-life legislation

Posted in Abortion Clinic Closed, Abortion clinic closed by state, Texas Abortion with tags , , , , , , on February 17, 2014 by saynsumthn

Texas officials have shut down a Houston abortion clinic and suspended the license of its doctor under a new state law requiring physicians who perform the procedure to hold admitting privileges at a nearby hospital.

The Department of State Health Services has revoked the abortion license of A Affordable Women’s Medical Center and the Texas Medical Board has temporarily suspended the medical license of Dr. Theodore M. Herring Jr., the facility’s medical director and sole provider of abortions, the agencies announced Friday.

Theodore Herring TX

Herring unlawfully performed 268 abortions between Nov. 6 and Feb. 7, according to the two agencies.

The disciplinary actions against the north Houston clinic and doctor were the first taken by state authorities since the law went into effect Nov. 1. The law requires abortion clinic doctors to have privileges at a hospital that provides obstetrical or gynecological services and is within 30 miles of the facility where they provide the procedure.

The state health department Friday indefinitely revoked the facility’s license. A medical board disciplinary panel Thursday temporarily suspended Herring’s license. Both actions took effect immediately.

According to TMB documents, Herring failed to even apply for hospital privileges after the passage of highly publicized abortion clinic safety law that was passed last year. The violation was discovered during an inspection at Herring’s A Affordable Women’s Medical Center abortion clinic on December 11, 2013.

“The clinic regulations in Texas are successfully working to shut down seedy abortion operations that are operating illegally and posing a danger to the public. When abortion clinics close, lives are saved. It couldn’t be clearer how much this law is necessary in order to protect women and babies from predatory and dangerous abortionists,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “We continue to urge the passage of similar laws in every state.”

Herring submitted an application to obtain hospital privileges on January 15, 2014 and submitted a plan of correction to the Department of State Health Services, which notified him that a correction plan was insufficient and that he remained in violation of state law.

Yet, Herring continued to supply abortions and was inspected again on February 7, 2014, where he once again admitted that he was in non-compliance.

Herring’s license was temporarily suspended on February 13 after the TMB found that he “has engaged in ongoing violations of the law that make his continued practice of medicine a continuing threat to the public health and safety,” according to the suspension order.

“The closure of this illicit abortion operation and the suspension of Herring’s medical license further exposes the systemic ‘above the law’ attitude so common among abortionists who routinely defy safety regulations at the expense of the health and safety of their patients,” said Newman.

The new law, known as HB 1, was passed last year during a second special legislative session was called by Gov. Rick Perry after a filibuster by pro-abortion Democrat Wendy Davis caused a near riot in the statehouse that delayed a vote on the measure until after a previous special session had expired. The law went into effect on November 1, 2013. HB 1 was challenged in court and initially enjoined by a lower court, but the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the law could indeed go into effect while the case is litigated. That led to the closure of nearly a dozen abortion clinics, seven of which were permanent.

Hearings on the suspension and clinic closure are expected later this month.

Dangerous “Ugly Black Babies” abortion clinic re-opens in Charlotte

A Preferred WomenA Charlotte abortion clinic, which was forced to shut its doors after an investigation and whose abortion doctor once called the children he aborted “Ugly black babies” has reopened after agreeing to make changes.

Officials from North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services told WBTV that A Preferred Women’s Health Center, LLC will be allowed to reopen as early as Wednesday morning, which it did. The clinic reopened at 9:30 a.m.

WBTV learned the clinic chose not to appeal state’s decision and has agreed to a quality improvement plan. The plan requires the clinic to stop using a drug that was being administered incorrectly.

The clinic, located on Latrobe Drive, has proven they are safe to open, according to a state spokesman. The clinic closed at the end of the day on Friday at the request of the DHHS.

WBTV ON YOUR SIDE uncovered a 12 page report detailing what State health inspectors found in April after someone complained. It says the clinic was administering the cancer drug Methotrexate, for abortions.

The report also says the clinic gave patients the drug orally, but state regulations require the drug to be injected.

Debbie Lang, who owns a dog boarding business across the street from the clinic, told WBTV on Monday night that she was happy the clinic had been shut down. Lang is openly pro choice, but says the clinic brings problems to the office park.

“A couple of the girls would come up here asking us to use the telephone, or they didn’t have a ride home,” Lang said. “One girl looked kind of ill.”

In Texas, another abortion clinic has re-opened after they could not get a doctor with hospital privileges to perform abortions under state law. (more here)

BACK STORY:

A Preferred Ab Clinic051313-latrobe-closed

The abortion facility on Latrobe Drive was closed after state officials revoked its license to operate on May 10, calling it “an imminent threat to the health and safety of patients.”

A Preferred Women’s Health Center, located at 3320 Latrobe Drive, offers chemical abortions up to nine weeks’ gestation and surgical abortions up to 20 weeks. It is one of three abortion clinics in Charlotte.

A Preferred Order to Close

WHAT INSPECTORS FOUND
Inspectors from the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services conducted a surprise visit to Latrobe April 19-20 and did additional investigation work in late April and early May.

They found “that conditions at A Preferred Women’s Health Center, LLC, present an imminent danger to the health, safety and welfare of the clients and that emergency action is required to protect the clients.”

They found that the facility was improperly administering chemical abortions and improperly examining post-abortive women before they were discharged from surgery. The same day they issued their report, May, 10, state regulators ordered A Preferred Women’s Health Center shut down “no later than 5 o’clock p.m.” that day, saying the decision was “emergency action … required to protect the clients.”

A Preferred Women’s Health Center is a chain of three abortion facilities, with locations also in Raleigh and in Augusta, Ga. Its website estimates that its staff has performed abortions on more than 100,000 women over the past 20 years.

An abortionist at A Preferred Women’s Health Center in Charlotte, Dr. Ashutosh Ron Virmani, OB/GYN, has received several reprimands during his medical career in North Carolina, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte suspended his privileges there in 1995. Virmani has a license to practice medicine in North Carolina.

There are three abortion facilities in Charlotte, among at least seven located within the area of the Diocese of Charlotte. Besides the facility at 3220 Latrobe Drive, there is Family Reproductive Health at 700 E. Hebron St. and Carolina Center for Women at 421 N. Wendover Road.

Dr. Ashutosh Ron Virmani

Abortionist Ashutosh Ron Virmani kills children at A Preferred Women’s Health Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

On July 26 pro-life activists paid a visit to Virmani’s home asking him to repent. The rant that followed was shocking, revealing at least in part what motivates Virmani: overt racism – culminating with his accusation, “Why don’t you adopt those ugly black babies?”

According to NEWSMEAT, this RACIST Abortion doctor is a HUGE democrat Contributor:

Virmani was born in India. He came to the United States in 1976 and attended medical school in New Jersey between 1981 and 1985. It is strange that Virami was so racist about the black babies he loves to abort, because RACISM was his exact claim against a hospital that removed his clinical privileges. According to the AMA news, Presbyterian Hospital and Presbyterian Hospital Matthews, part of Novant Health Inc., summarily suspended Dr. Virmani’s staff membership and clinical privileges after the hospital reviewed a case in which the ob-gyn punctured a patient’s iliac artery during a laparoscopic procedure in 1994.

Dr. Virmani said that that is a known possible complication, according to the documents. Dr. Virmani says his privileges were taken away because of his race and national origin. He was born in India. He came to the United States in 1976 and attended medical school in New Jersey between 1981 and 1985.

He said the hospital treated non-Indian physicians differently and disciplined them less harshly. Dr. Virmani noted that the state medical board did not take action against him and that independent reviewers found that he met the standard of care in the cases the hospital said were problematic.

The hospital defended its action and said that the court shouldn’t open up the peer review records.

A portion of the lawsuit that followed reads:

Dr. Virmani is an obstetrician-gynecologist who was granted medical staff membership and clinical privileges at Presbyterian Hospital and Presbyterian Hospital Matthews (collectively,”Presbyterian”).1 During a laparoscopic procedure in 1994 at Presbyterian Hospital, Virmani inadvertently punctured the iliac artery of a patient, creating a life-threatening emergency…Based on the Committee’s report, Novant suspended Virmani’s privileges, pending a review by Presbyterian’s Medical Board. At Virmani’s request, the Hearing Committee of the Medical Board, which is composed of three physicians, conducted a full hearing on November 21, 1995. Following that hearing, the Medical Board voted to terminate Virmani’s medical staff privileges. Presbyterian’s Board of Trustee’s upheld that decision on January 19, 1996.

Virmani’s medical license was “reprimanded” in this case. Read lawsuit here

In 2005, The North Carolina Medical Board reprimanded Virmani’s license after he was found to have presigned prescription pads and the staff at the clinic was using them for non-patients.

Is Virmani a racist? We will ask that in the same manner he asked this about Presbyterian Hospital, in a protest letter written by abortionist Virmani and entitled: “DID PRESBYTERIAN HOSPITAL DISCRIMINATE? YOU DECIDE!”, the abortionists writes, “Those in control at Presbyterian hospital used their enormous resources and power to squash me like a gnat. They have done so not because of the quality of my care but because of where I came from. They are thriving while I am starving. I hope these people sleep well at night knowing that they have destroyed the professional and personal life of a young physician beyond repair because of his national origin.”

“Ugly Black Babies?” Seriously- you do not want you taxes to go to allowing Ugly Black Babies to be born- I’d call that pretty darn Racist, and I hope You do not Sleep Well for that !

Racism from abortion is no secret – watch the documentary film Maafa21 for more racist connections to abortion.

Government regulates rain water collection? Ridiculous !

Posted in Big Brother with tags , , , , , , , on November 30, 2010 by saynsumthn

(NaturalNews Reports) Many of the freedoms we enjoy here in the U.S. are quickly eroding as the nation transforms from the land of the free into the land of the enslaved, but what I’m about to share with you takes the assault on our freedoms to a whole new level. You may not be aware of this, but many Western states, including Utah, Washington and Colorado, have long outlawed individuals from collecting rainwater on their own properties because, according to officials, that rain belongs to someone else.

As bizarre as it sounds, laws restricting property owners from “diverting” water that falls on their own homes and land have been on the books for quite some time in many Western states. Only recently, as droughts and renewed interest in water conservation methods have become more common, have individuals and business owners started butting heads with law enforcement over the practice of collecting rainwater for personal use.

In Colorado, two new laws were recently passed that exempt certain small-scale rainwater collection systems, like the kind people might install on their homes, from collection restrictions.
