Footage from the Toronto Globe and Mail show a hail of bullets being fired inside the Canadian parliament building

According to the BBC, a series of shootings have taken place in and around Canada’s parliament, leaving one soldier wounded.

It is unclear how many gunmen there are but one shooter is believed dead.

An assailant fired at the National War Memorial and then ran into parliament nearby, continuing the attack. More shots were fired at a shopping mall.

The incident came hours after Canada raised its terror threat level following a fatal hit-and-run attack on two soldiers on Monday.

The latest incident began when soldiers guarding the memorial came under fire on Wednesday morning.

“Shots fired at War Memorial at 9:52am today; one person injured,” Ottawa Police tweeted.

ISLAMIC RADICALIZED SUSPECT

A man shot to death after running down and killing a Canadian soldier with his car was “radicalized” and classified as a “potential important threat” to the country, Canadian authorities said Tuesday at a press conference.

Police arrested Martin Rouleau Couture, who reportedly converted to Islam about a year ago, last July and confiscated his passport, but lacked enough evidence to keep him in custody, said Martine Fontaine of the RCMP.

“When he was arrested, he was about to go to Turkey,” Fontaine said. “We stopped him as he was about to leave Canada for terrorist actions. He was questioned when he was arrested. We have not been able to determine any real threat at this time.”

On Monday, a man driving a car hit two members of the Canadian Armed Forces who were walking in a strip mall parking lot in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, said David Falls, spokesman for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.. Read more !

ISIS Sympathizer

CBC news reports that as Public Safety Minister Steve Blaney asserted at a morning news conference, Couture-Rouleau, who waited in a parking lot for at least two hours before driving his car into two Canadian soldiers, was “clearly linked to terrorist ideology.”

The RCMP revealed that officials had been monitoring Couture-Rouleau closely, concerned that “he had become radicalized.” On Tuesday, RCMP Commissioner Bob Paulson confirmed that Couture-Rouleau’s passport had been seized and that he was one of the 90 suspected extremists who the RCMP believed intended to join militants fighting abroad.

CBC News spoke with Faisal, a Facebook friend of Couture-Rouleau’s in Saudi Arabia, who described Couture-Rouleau as a “really kind person.”

He said he befriended Couture-Rouleau on Facebook and began messaging him in June.

“I was actually looking over some posts on Facebook … and I saw all these people, they were for some reason dissing Islam, making fun of us, so I saw him actually replying in a really calm, modest, humble way,” Faisal told CBC News.

But Faisal added that this was before he found out Couture-Rouleau was a supporter of ISIS.

Faisal, who spoke on the condition CBC News not publish his last name, said he changed the topic of conversation in the few instances Couture-Rouleau mentioned ISIS to him.

Soldiers told evangelical Christians and Tea Party are threat to nation

With in weeks of the Pentagon admitted that information used in an Army briefing labeled the American Family Association (AFA) as a domestic hate group but claimed it was not acquired from official sources and does not reflect Army doctrine, soldiers at Ft Hood were told similar things.

According to Todd Starnes, Soldiers attending a pre-deployment briefing at Fort Hood say they were told that evangelical Christians and members of the Tea Party were a threat to the nation and that any soldier donating to those groups would be subjected to punishment under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

A soldier who attended the Oct. 17th briefing told me the counter-intelligence agent in charge of the meeting spent nearly a half hour discussing how evangelical Christians and groups like the American Family Association were “tearing the country apart.”

Michael Berry, an attorney with the Liberty Institute, is advising the soldier and has launched an investigation into the incident.

Another soldier who attended the briefing alerted the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty. That individual’s recollections of the briefing matched the soldier who reached out to me.

“I was very shocked and couldn’t believe what I was hearing,” the soldier said. “I felt like my religious liberties, that I risk my life and sacrifice time away from family to fight for, were being taken away.”

And while a large portion of the briefing dealt with the threat evangelicals and the Tea Party pose to the nation, barely a word was said about Islamic extremism, the soldier said.

Violent Muslims protest UK returning soldiers

AP reports

Protesters have heckled soldiers and brandished placards opposing the war in Afghanistan during a homecoming parade for troops.

A group of predominantly Muslim protesters gathered in Barking town centre, in east London, as members of the 1st Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment marched through the streets.

One witness said: “There were about 25 to 50 Muslim protesters carrying placards with things like ‘Muslims Against Crusades’ and ‘British Soldiers Go To Hell’.

“Then there was a counter-protest of about 100 guys barracking them.”

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said two people had been arrested for public order offences.

Barking and Dagenham councillor Liam Smith said the march was unaffected by the protest.
He said: “I’m glad the actions of a vocal minority failed to spoil what was a proud day in the borough’s history and one we will remember for all the right reasons in years to come.

“The Royal Anglians are our local regiment. We are proud of them and the difficult and dangerous job they do, and as today’s turnout for the parade showed, so are the people of Barking and Dagenham.”
