How can the pro-life community help victims of sex trafficking?

pro-life, abuse, trafficking

One possible indicator, or red flag, of sex trafficked victims includes numerous abortions, pregnancies and miscarriages. Other red flags can include the frequent use of emergency contraception, as well as a teen being accompanied by older boyfriend or an adult that is not a family member. Therefore, medical staff must be vigilant to report suspicion of abuse. But there are also things that the general pro-life community can do to help. The pro-life message is one of human rights, compassion, and love for mother and child, and pro-life people on the front lines — outside abortion facilities, working at pregnancy centers, etc. — are ideally positioned to identify these victims.

Live Action’s new docuseries exposes how sex trafficking and abuse victims often go to Planned Parenthood for help — and Planned Parenthood simply returns them back to their dangerous situations. Live Action founder and president Lila Rose stated in a press release:

Despite Planned Parenthood’s public rhetoric as well as laws requiring it to report suspected abuse, its failure to report has been deliberate and widespread. Time and again, rather than reporting abuse to authorities, Planned Parenthood has repeatedly looked the other way and performed abortions on victims as young as 12 years old. These girls deserved advocacy but instead Planned Parenthood staff ignored their abuse and returned them to the waiting arms of their abusers.

Because of flagrant violations like these, the proposed Title X rule tightening on reporting abuse is absolutely necessary. Planned Parenthood has proven that its priority is selling abortions, not caring for the most vulnerable of girls. Planned Parenthood’s culture of cover-up must end, the cycle of abuse of innocent children must end, and Planned Parenthood’s half a billion dollars in annual federal funding must end. Taxpayers cannot be forced to subsidize these abuses of children.

Cindy Collins, a long time pro-life advocate who is educating the pro-life community about human trafficking, is the founder of SpeakHope.net and has served on Louisiana Governor’s Human Trafficking Commission. She has provided testimony for Louisiana legislation requiring human trafficking awareness signage to be placed inside abortion facilities. She also provided information and resources for help regarding the state’s informed consent literature for women seeking abortion.

In addition, Collins has participated in training and workshops on predatory relationships, human trafficking, and forced abortions. She has presented her findings both nationally and internationally at the National Right to Life Conference, Heartbeat International Conference, Texas Pregnancy Care Network, as well as the United Nations Conference on the Status of Women, Israel Be’ad Chaim (Pro-Life) Conference and Cherish Life Australia Conference. She currently serves as a global advisor for Operation Outcry and as a board advisor of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), Reproductive Loss and Sexual Trauma Division.

Collins told Live Action News that she is post-abortive and has tragically experienced abortion several times. Later, she helped to found a pregnancy center in her home state of Louisiana where she ministered to abortion-minded women on a regular basis.

“Those abortions led me into a lot of destruction,” Collins said, adding that she came to understand that her destructive behavior leading to her abortion kept her in emotional captivity. The freedom and insights she learned in dealing with her past led to her compassion for the victims of human trafficking. “There but for the grace of God go I, that I could have been held captive because of the destruction in my life. This has given me awareness for what I do now,” she said.

After years of pro-life ministry, Collins said the Lord led her to women who were working in the commercial sex industry:

I was invited to go on a team to minister to strip clubs down town understanding that many years ago, I could have been one of them. After 30 years of working in the pro-life movement and abortion recovery, I asked the Lord why I was going there now. Then, after a few years, I began to realize that the single moms working in the clubs were hurting like I had been. Soon, I was having encounters with women in dressing rooms inside strip clubs and discovered that many had been forced to have abortions.

The Lord showed me there are captives that need help through pregnancy centers and the pro-life movement, but He also showed me that children held outside the womb through sex trafficking also deserve life, love, and to fulfill their destiny.”

Collins sees her focus as reaching women and children inside as well as outside the womb. As such,  she sees a real need for the pro-life community to become better educated to work to free victims caught up in the commercial sex trafficked industry, both physically as well as spiritually and emotionally.

“What the pro-life movement is missing,” Collins shared, “is first, how we are looking at the women forced to work in these areas? I began to discover that the pro-life community was looking at these women in the wrong way. Were we valuing these women and their babies the same as the college student who might come into our center?”

She added, “The pro-life movement has to get involved. We have to understand and change our mindsets, and see the victims who potentially are being forced to submit to abortion through new eyes. They’re being told if they don’t have that abortion their pimps will kill them. He threatens to kill their family or children.”

In her research on human trafficking, Collins discovered that women and children trapped in sex trafficking usually have some form of sexual abuse in their past. One study showed that 70 percent of women interviewed that were sex trafficked became pregnant and about 55 percent of these victims say they will be forced into an abortion during their captivity.

A 1999 report by the Center for the Study of Intelligence found that sex trafficked victims endure “threats of physical abuse against themselves and/or their families are also common in order to force cooperation. Traffickers also play upon the women’s fears of arrest and deportation. In additional cases, trafficking victims suffer extreme physical and mental abuse, including rape, imprisonment, forced abortions, and physical brutality.”

In 2002, according to a report by the New York Times, police raided a house, expecting to find an underground brothel. What they found instead was horrific. Inside were victims of sex trafficking between the ages of 14 and 17, all Mexican nationals without documentation. The girls were forced to live in squalid conditions, described by the paper as a “land-based equivalent of a 19th-century slave ship.” Police also uncovered a “stash of penicillin” along with abortion-inducing drugs.

One victim of sex trafficking told Facing Life Now TV that women and girls are also taken to abortion clinics by their pimps or by people working for the pimp. “Marlene,” who had become “trusted” by her pimp, told the interviewer that she was responsible for booking abortions when a woman became pregnant, saying, “The pimps and the traffickers would get fake I.D.’s for the girls and we would take them to have abortions.”

When asked if abortion facilities like Planned Parenthood would turn down the abortions for the girls, she replied, “Oh, no, absolutely not…. Honestly they had to know that these were teenagers; they were not adult women.”

Marlene said that participating in these abortions traumatized her. She recalled a 14-year-old sex trafficked victim who became pregnant and was being forced to have an abortion: “So, I had the whole house raided — she was rescued,” she said.

A study published by the Annals of Health Law in 2014, Health Consequences of Sex Trafficking, supports Marlene’s claims. Authors Laura Lederer and Christopher Wetzel interviewed several women victimized by sex trafficking and found that survivors had  “significant contact with clinical treatment facilities, most notably Planned Parenthood.”

As Live Action News previously reported, roughly two-thirds of survivors who specified a location for their abortions identified an abortion facility as the site of their abortions, indicating ongoing systemic problems inside the abortion industry. One survivor told the researchers, “I was under serious pressure from my pimps to abort the babies.” And one sex trafficking victim told researchers she was taken to Planned Parenthood because “Planned Parenthood didn’t ask any questions.”

Planned Parenthood doesn’t ask questions about sex trafficking victims

Tragically, one of the victims interviewed said she had as many as 17 forced abortions.

“There has to be laws that make it clear that these abortion facilities are required to report,” Collins said.

Study author Laura Lederer testified to lawmakers that 55 percent of the women she interviewed reported having at least one abortion, and about half of those said they had been coerced.

Sadly, sex trafficked victims, rather than abortion workers who failed to report the abuse, are often the ones facing prosecution. Last year, the Texas Tribune reported on a case in which “a pimp… had sold a 16-year-old girl for sex over two years. The girl suffered horrific abuse at his hands — she was raped, impregnated and forced to have an abortion. When she tried to run away, the pimp carved his initials into her forearm.” Tragically, rather than receiving treatment upon her eventual arrest at the age of 19, the victim was sent to prison.

“It’s a great example of the cyclical nature of trafficking and how devastating it is, and how if you do not intervene it will indeed continue, and just continue to breed itself both victims and defendants,” Kirsta Melton, who leads the Texas Attorney General’s Office’s sex-trafficking unit, told the Tribune.

Live Action News has documented the way that Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry fail to report child sexual abuse, often returning victims of abuse into the hands of the predators that force them into the abortion to begin with. Several of these tragic cases have been highlighted in the video below from Live Action’s Aiding Abusers project:

In 2011, Live Action investigators tested how Planned Parenthood would respond to sex trafficked victims by sending undercover actors posing as sex industry profiteers into their facilities.

Collins said that about the time God was leading her to become more involved in outreach to victims of trafficking, Live Action released its undercover investigation. The results of the investigation shocked her. In one instance, a Planned Parenthood staffer even coached the actors posing as sex traffickers on how to secure secret abortions, STD testing, and contraception for their underage female sex slaves, and how to make their whole operation “look as legit as possible.”

The good news is that, according to Collins, when a women becomes pregnant while being trafficked, it can trigger her to find the resolve to flee her trafficker in an attempt to give her child a better life. Collins has found that many times, trafficked victims are also lovingly placing born children with adoptive families. “That woman may not escape that lifestyle for herself, but when she has the baby, she gets the courage to escape because she doesn’t want that life for her child.”

Sex trafficking survivor Julia Walsh recently recounted her heart wrenching story to the Waco Tribune about how her pimp, David Ronald Mims, refused to allow her to seek medical care while pregnant. Four men trafficked Walsh for almost three years, often keeping her in the trunk of a car until they found an abandoned apartment to traffic her from. Walsh eventually escaped and ended up on the streets where she met Mims, who regularly beat her.

“When I was pregnant, I was still using drugs and kept using drugs at first,” she told the paper. “I stopped using the drugs, and at that point, I still had to work and make a quota. He said all that means is that the baby is his property, too. At that point, the safety of my child was pretty much my number one priority.”

Tragically, when she went into labor, Mims refused to take her to the hospital and her little girl was delivered stillborn. Soon after, Walsh and Mims were arrested, and Walsh was able to receive the help she needed from a caring Waco police detective and others dedicated to fight against human trafficking.

Cassie Hammett, executive director of the Shreveport-based nonprofit Purchased, which offers a one-year residential recovery program for women coming out of the sex industry, told the Shreveport Times that sex trafficked victims often do not use protection, therefore STD’s are rampant and victims may seek abortions later in pregnancy.

“The equation in their mind is, ‘I have to use my body to make money, and so I better just get rid of this problem or I won’t be able to do it for much longer,’” Hammett said.

Such was the case for Arien Pauls, who also escaped her trafficker, according to the Fresno Bee. Pauls “became pregnant with her trafficker’s baby [and] he forced her into an illegal, late-term abortion.”

For this reason, Collins notes that abortion becomes a deep trauma — “not only the abortion experience, but the deep feelings of regret because this is a life she never intended to live, and now it’s taken the life of herself and her child, a second victim,” Collins said.

Collins points out that the pro-life community is poised to help in this area because it is already largely organized, “we know how to help- rescue people and set them on their true destiny”:

I have a training that I do for communities, schools, and individuals. And I also have a training for those in the pro-life movement specifically. How to become aware, identify and help. How to connect with law enforcement, agencies and ministries not only on the rescuing side but the restoration side.

Sidewalk counselors need to be trained as well as pregnancy centers. These victims can be difficult to identify. A trafficker could appear to be a parent or friend. They might be escorted by an older boyfriend or older adult, even an older woman. If there is any question look at age difference, and if she looks beaten or drugged, call 911.

In addition, Collins said that law enforcement must be continually trained on human trafficking, “Police need to be made aware. They need to thoroughly investigate each suspected case. 55 percent of women trafficked said they were forced to have an abortion. 70 percent said they had become pregnant. We must encourage local law enforcement to have a new mind also.”

One of the ways Collins has worked to reach these victims in her state is to develop legislation mandating “Point of Rescue” pamphlets or signage be placed inside strip clubs, hotels and abortion facilities. These documents describe what human trafficking is and explain where a victim can go for help. According to the Shreveport Times, Louisiana lawmakers now require a “Point of Rescue” pamphlet to be available to girls seeking abortion. The program is overseen by the state’s Department of Health.

“The department has focused past efforts on another state law ensuring that every woman who seeks an abortion in the state of Louisiana receives robust information about human trafficking,” Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals spokeswoman Samantha Faulkner told the paper. “Abortion clinics are required to provide each clinic with a brochure.”

Images of poster and pamplet

Women’s right to know and Point of Rescue pamphlet for abortion clinics

In addition to the pamphlet, girls seeking abortions in the state are required to be informed that they cannot be coerced or forced into abortion. “It is unlawful for any individual to coerce a minor or adult woman to undergo an abortion. Any physician who performs an abortion upon a woman without her informed consent may be liable to her for damages in a civil action at law,” the website reads in part. The booklet, which abortion-minded women can access, also gives accurate information about the development of the baby and what the abortion entails.

Collins said that she founded SpeakHope.net and SpeakHope media to provide outreach, advocacy, and restorative care to women and youth vulnerable for sexual exploitation, sex trafficking, abuse, and forced abortion. Through outreach and missions, she has become an advocate for women and children here in the US and abroad.

Former National Abortion Federation employees say NAF ignores sexual harassment

women, woman, abortion

A dozen former and current employees of the National Abortion Federation (NAF) have turned whistleblower, accusing the organization of failing to protect employees against alleged sexual harassment. The information was published by the pro-abortion blog RewireNews, which gives detailed descriptions of repeated accusations of sexual harassment charging NAF management with a slow response. NAF calls itself a defender of women’s rights, but it appears that in this case, they may be protecting an aggressor.

The organization prides itself as a professional membership organization dedicated “exclusively to abortion care,” which trains and publishes “guidelines” for abortionists. NAF members, which include Planned Parenthood facilities, are repeatedly quoted by the media as experts, despite the fact that NAF members and NAF-accredited abortion facilities are routinely being exposed as far from stellar.

Online, NAF claims they have a “longstanding policy prohibiting sexual and other illegal harassment, and all employees are expected to abide by this policy.”

But reviews left anonymously by unverified “employees” on the website, Glassdoor, say otherwise and paint a picture of a systemic environment of sexual harassment, racism, and lack of respect from management toward rank and file staffers at NAF.

review left in April of 2018, claimed, “Workplace sexual harassment and racism both go unchecked. Both of these have been perpetrated by people in positions of power at NAF.” The same reviewer alleges that NAF’s only focus is on “safe and legal abortions for white women.”

Another reviewer claimed the morale at NAF was “poor” and that the work environment was a “lawsuit waiting to happen.” The reviewer also suggests that NAF “needs a union” — something abortion industry partner Planned Parenthood is reportedly fighting against.

review from December 2017 claimed management doesn’t care about the rank in file and also claims NAF allows racism and sexual harassment. It states in part:

Despite being told that we don’t have it in the budget to raise our salaries, somehow NAF was able to build a multi-million dollar office space and fill it with unnecessary conveniences like fancy coffeemakers. Meanwhile, our CEO takes lavish vacations on her yacht while the rest of us work two jobs just to pay rent and bills.

In terms of work-place culture, some employees at NAF are blatantly disrespectful and downright abusive. NAF claims to be a feminist organization that wants to fight gender oppression, yet NAF continues to defend and protect sexual harassers and racists who work here. Despite multitudes of complaints to HR, these people still work at NAF and some even continue to take on more powerful positions….

The review goes on to advise NAF management, “Practice what you preach! Don’t tell your employees to believe your patients, when you don’t even believe your employees. If you’re protecting verbally abusive, racists, and sexual harassers at a “feminist organization”…”

The sentiment was backed up by a June 2018 RewireNews article which cited claims by several NAF staffers that they were frustrated with the lack of response from NAF over repeated sexual harassment allegations against the organization’s security head, Mark Mellor.

Mellor, according to his affidavit in the lawsuit surrounding NAF and the Center for Medical Progress, joined NAF in 2013, as “Security Consultant,” and directed the “security program at the National Abortion Federation.” Mellor provided “specialized security services” at many NAF events as well as “24/7 emergency assistance to NAF members.” Mellor indicated his focus was to “ensure a safe, secure and intimidation-free environment” for annual NAF members attending meetings — the same meetings caught in undercover footage by CMP showing NAF members and Planned Parenthood staffers discussing the abhorrent practice of selling of aborted baby body parts, among other topics.

Reportedly, “intimidation-free” didn’t quite apply to NAF staffers.

Former NAF staffer Katherine O’Connell told Rewire that Mellor would “leer at hotline staff and other staff members—many of them young women recently out of college—as they would walk by his office…”

What made O’Connell most uncomfortable, she said, were the unwanted glances and touches she received from Mellor on a regular basis. She said he would routinely look her up and down, and occasionally run his hands down her back or place them on her waist.

After O’Connell allegedly went to NAF’s general counsel about her concerns, she said, “I felt like after that—after she told me that I should come to her office and report it—I felt like I was in her office every week noting something that had happened, where he had put his hands on my waist or made other comments to me.” Rewire notes that though told “the matter was being handled internally,” nothing “concrete” was ever done, to the employee’s knowledge.

The NAF worker claimed the “unaddressed issues with Mellor’s behavior” contributed to her leaving NAF in 2014. In her exit letter to management, the NAF worker allegedly wrote, “This is not an issue I ever thought I would face at a women’s organization.”

Another NAF staffer claimed Mellor would openly display disrespectful images of women on his computer screen and when a male NAF co-worker suggested Mellor change the image from the screen, NAF staffers witnessed the “two men laughing about the situation.”

“It was changed, but it was seen as this giant joke,” a staffer told RewireNews, while describing the environment at NAF as “a hostile work environment.”

READ: Planned Parenthood taught workers to prevent ‘being recorded’ rather than help abuse victims

Despite the fact that some staffers felt pressure not to speak out publicly — because, as one staffer admitted, it “hurts the movement” — several others did. They described Mellor’s behavior as “somewhat creepy,” “extremely inappropriate,” “extremely unprofessional,” and “deeply inappropriate.”

NAF staffer Kathleen Heckert blasted NAF’s handling of the repeated harassment she claims to have witnessed, calling it “a very uncomfortable environment” where “multiple people feel… harassed,” giving them a “very uncomfortable, inappropriate, and kind of frustrating feeling.”

RewireNews reported that another staffer bemoaned the way that “management at NAF has willfully ignored some of the charges that have been brought to their attention.”

After virtually dismissing serious allegations of the decades-long cover-up of child sexual abuse by Planned Parenthood, it is more than a little surprising for pro-abortion RewireNews to go public about these allegations of sexual harassment at NAF. Unsurprisingly, NAF itself has been silent after Live Action’s Aiding Abusers report and docuseries was published (while Rewire unprofessionally came out against it) even though the report documents serious allegations of a failure of Planned Parenthood to follow mandatory reporting laws. This information was gleaned from court cases, civil lawsuits, health report documents, former staffers, and undercover investigations.

It’s more than a little hypocritical for Rewire and its friends in the abortion industry to dismiss former Planned Parenthood staffers speaking about what they witnessed inside Planned Parenthood.

NAF members have also had their share of scandals and pro-lifers have repeatedly documented the careless way some NAF members treated abortion patients, including sexual abuse. Live Action News previously published not-so-flattering reviews by alleged patients of abortionist Warren Hern, one of the founding members of NAF, now serving on its Board of Directors.

One reviewer claimed Hern “speaks aggressively and it made me feel uncomfortable and slightly scared.”

Image: Warren Hern NAF member (Image: edited screen from NAF website)

Warren Hern NAF member (Image: edited screen from NAF website)

Abortionist Curtis Boyd brags online that he helped establish “the National Abortion Federation and is a founding member of the Federation’s Board of Directors.” However, reviews left on Google (previously reported by Live Action News) indicate a lack of trust by his patients.

Another example of NAF’s lax standards can be seen in the case of Kermit Gosnell. According to the Grand Jury Report, Gosnell was allowed to work at a NAF clinic in Delaware. Though NAF’s President and CEO Vicki Saporta, who recently announced her plans to retire in June 2019, claims NAF denied Gosnell’s House of Horrors abortion facility membership after it was observed that “no one was monitoring or taking vital signs of patients who were sedated during procedures,” among other serious violations, prosecutors noted that NAF failed to report the violations to authorities.

Image: Gosnell grand jury report says NAF failed to report the abortionist to authorities

Gosnell grand jury report says NAF failed to report the abortionist to authorities

In a follow-up to its article, RewireNews claims NAF sent an e-mail stating they have suspended Mellor. NAF then published a statement to their website, which reads in part:

NAF is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment in which all individuals are treated with dignity and respect…. We take any claim of harassment very seriously. We have looked into all complaints of sexual harassment that have been brought to HR or to the General Counsel and have taken appropriate steps to address any and all violations of NAF’s policy. We are confident that we have dealt appropriately, and consistently with the law and our policies, in handling personnel matters….

While the media is quick to quote NAF as the authority on “anti-abortion violence,” they have remained silent about  RewireNews’ report. Even more troubling are the words of a former NAF staffer currently working in the reproductive justice field: “NAF is not the only national reproductive rights organization with workplace issues.”

Why is Planned Parenthood ignoring these red flags of sexual abuse?

Posted in Abortion and Sex Trafficking, Abortion and Sexual Assault, Planned Parenthood fails to report rape, Planned Parenthood sex ed, Planned Parenthood Teens, Rape and Abortion, Red Flags of Sexual ABuse, Teen Pregnancy, Title X with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on June 23, 2018 by saynsumthn

Girl, sad, Planned Parenthood

Live Action has just released stunning evidence in its Aiding Abusers docuseries, showing how Planned Parenthood has systematically and repeatedly aided abusers. There is a horrific, growing list of criminal cases against adult sexual predators who preyed on children as young as 12 years of age, taking them to Planned Parenthood for abortions to cover their crimes. Undercover investigations and testimony from former Planned Parenthood staffers proves that the taxpayer-funded organization is fast becoming the nation’s largest complicity machine in the cover-up of child sexual abuse.

Adolescents and teen girls are being sexually abused and taken to Planned Parenthood for a variety of reasons, including abortions. And, as Live Action’s investigative report and docuseries, along with Live Action News articles demonstrate, Planned Parenthood continues to turn a blind eye to victims of sexual abuse and rape, often returning them back to the arms of their abusers. Despite the data — which shows that younger sexually active girls are likely involved with partners three to six years older — Planned Parenthood views these girls as sexually promiscuous and in need of its “services” instead of suspecting abuse.

According to data researched by Mike Males, senior researcher at the Center on Juvenile and Criminal Justice, San Francisco, and published in Yes Magazine in 2016:

[T]he Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that two-thirds of all marital births and 44 percent of unwed births among mothers age 18 and younger were fathered by adult men 20 years of age and older. Some 10,000 of those cases involved men older than 24. And these are just births; total sexual encounters would be many times higher…

Research published in 2006 on the website of Planned Parenthood’s own former special affiliate, the Guttmacher Institute, states, “… [A]mong sexually experienced teenagers, the youngest are the most likely to report having had an older first sexual partner.”

In 2013, Planned Parenthood claimed in a report that 6.7% of teens between the ages of 15 and 17 “have partners six or more years older than they are.” That means that nearly seven percent of girls who are just 15 years old, could be having sex (willingly or unwillingly) with an adult male who is 21 or older. Census estimates show that there were roughly 6.3 million females between 15 and 17 in the US in 2016. Within that age group, less than half are reported to be sexually active. Knowing this, and if Planned Parenthood’s claim is correct, that would indicate that there are potentially 210,000 15- to 17-year-old girls who may be at risk for statutory rape. Some states set the age of consent at 16 years old, while some set it at 17 or 18.

Planned Parenthood’s own glossary of terms describes statutory rape as “[l]egally, sexual contact between an adult and anyone who is below the age of consent, whether or not the contact is voluntary.”

Planned Parenthood

2016 Census data females ages 15 to 17

But the problem is even more magnified when the victim is not “consenting” or is much younger. Studies show that younger girls are less likely to engage in sex, yet when a sexually active adolescent or teen girl presents at Planned Parenthood, she fails to invoke suspicion of abuse. Why?

According to research published on Guttmacher’s website, “On average, young people in the United States have sex for the first time at about age 17… ” Of those who are sexually active at a young age, additional data shows that young girls with a much older “romantic partner” are more likely to engage in sex.

Yet, Planned Parenthood continues to miss all these red flags.

A study published by the Journal of Women’s Health in 2011 found that “[i]n national surveys, nearly 50% of sexually active adolescent females reported having a sex partner ≥2 years older, and 36% reported a partner ≥3 years older.” Participant demographic from the study “were, on average, 14.6 years old at first vaginal intercourse. Their first vaginal intercourse partners were, on average, 17.5 years old. Sixty percent of the sample had a first sex partner who was ≥2 years older, and 41% of the sample had a first sex partner who was ≥3 years older.”

Planned Parenthood

Journal of Women’s Health study of older sexual partners of teens

The report goes on to state that “[f]or adolescent females, having sex with an older male partner correlates with a variety of negative health outcomes… adolescent females who had a sex partner who was ≥6 years older had a pregnancy rate almost four times that of adolescent females with a similar-aged sex partner.”

report from 2014 found that “[n]early 36 percent of girls who first got pregnant before age 15 had sex for the first time with a partner at least six years older, compared to 17 percent of girls who got pregnant between 15 and 19.”

In Planned Parenthood’s previously mentioned 2013 report, the abortion corporation states:

  • Forty-six percent of teenage girls and 22 percent of teenage boys who engage in their first sexual experience before the age of 15 have been involved in a pregnancy.

2002 review of 1,975 female participants from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health found that substantial age gaps play a large role in whether a young girl will engage in sex:

Adolescent females involved with an older partner have higher odds of having intercourse with that partner than females with partners their own age, after adjustment for demographic covariates. The magnitude of this association is most dramatic among the youngest females—for example, the odds of intercourse among 13-year-old females with a partner six years older are more than six times the odds among 13-year-old females with a same-age partner (odds ratio, 6.4), while 17-year-old females with partners six years older have about twice the odds of intercourse when compared with those who have a same-age partner (2.1).

The report also noted that “[f]emales aged 13 or younger with a partner at least four years their senior were more likely to have had sex than were those with a partner of the same age or younger (41% vs. 9%)… It thus seems that while sexual intercourse is less common for females who are 13 or younger at the onset of their relationships, substantial age gaps between partners may play a larger role in the progression to intercourse in this age-group than in others.”

In other words, if a child at this young age is showing signs of sexual activity, it is likely they are engaging in a sexual relationship with an older partner. Therefore, when a young girl at the age of 12, 13, or 14 shows up at Planned Parenthood pregnant or in need of birth control or seeking an abortion, it should automatically trigger a suspicion of abuse. Yet, this red flag is being deliberately overlooked by Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood

Report: Age difference between adolescent females and their romantic partners

Demographic information of participants in the report, shown in Table 2, indicate that of participants who were younger than 13:

  • 23.3% had a sexual partner that was one to three years older.
  • 40.8% had a sexual relationship [most likely with men] who were four years or more older.

In addition, out of participants who were between the ages of 14 and 15:

  • 42.9% engaged in sex with partners that were one to three years older.
  • 67.4% had sex with men who were four years older or more.

2008 study found that young females who admitted to authors that they had an older sexual partner were more likely to also claim that the sexual encounter was non-consensual. The report, entitled, “Older Sexual Partners During Adolescence,” found that “[y]oung females with older sexual partners are less likely than other sexually experienced teenage women to report that the relationship is ‘steady,’ and are more likely to report that their first sexual intercourse was nonvoluntary or unwanted.”

In addition, a 2015 review of available data, published by the non-profit group Child Trends, found that younger teens are more likely to report first sexual experiences as “statutory rape”:

Among those whose first sexual experience was before age 16, the youngest sexually experienced teens were most likely to report their sexual experience as “statutory rape.” Overall, in 2011-13, 17 percent of males and 33 percent of females who had sexual intercourse before age 16 reported that their first time was with someone who was at least three years older than them. Males who were 15 at first sex were less likely than males ages 14 or 13 or younger at first sex to have reported this experience as “statutory rape” (7 percent, compared with 22, and 24 percent, respectively). Females who were 15 at first sex were also less likely to have experienced “statutory rape” than females ages 14 or 13 or younger at first sex (21 percent, compared with 45, and 48 percent, respectively).

Planned Parenthood

Report by Child Trends shows younger teens are victims of statutory rape

In the table from the report shown below, 47.8% of 13-year-old-, 44.5% of 14-year-old-, and 20.8% of 15-year-old female adolescents from the data Child Trends reviewed had a first sexual relationship with someone three years or older. The report does not indicate whether the partners were adults, necessarily, but it does show a pattern that is troubling and should cause concern when sexually active teens present to a medical facility or clinic.

Planned Parenthood

Child Trends shows younger teens are often victims of statutory rape

A report published in June 2017 by Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health, which looked at partner age gaps among females and males who first had intercourse before age 18, found that out of those who first had sex before age 15:

  • 19% had a partner who was 5+ years older than them and
  • 30% had a partner who was 3-4 years older.

What this reveals is that very early sexual experiences are more likely to happen with an older partner.

This information was found in Table 2, from the report entitled, “Associations of Partner Age Gap at Sexual Debut with Teenage Parenthood and Lifetime Number of Partners. The table of data also revealed that even though the percentages of older partners was reported as lower among females in the study who first had sex at ages 15-17, they are still alarming and demonstrate that the possibility of substantial incidents of statutory rape may be occurring:

  • 11% had a partner who was 5+ years older than them and
  • 13% had a partner who was 3-4 years older.
Planned Parenthood

2017 report shows early sexual experiences of girls are most common with older partners

As Live Action’s “Aiding Abusers” series has documented, when a young girl is taken to Planned Parenthood, the abortion corporation’s solution is not to view them as potential victims of sexual abuse but to hook them on contraceptives or sell them abortions, which fuel Planned Parenthood’s bottom line. This negligent attitude traps these victims of sexual abuse and grants aid to the abusers, by giving them a way to avoid getting caught.

In the #MeToo and #TimesUp era of intolerance against sexual abusers and those who are complicit in aiding the abuse, it is past time to open up investigations in every state to see just how prevalent the failure to report sexual abuse is within the largest taxpayer-funded abortion chain in the United States. Anything short of a full-on investigation and removal of tax funds through federal programs like Title X and Medicaid would be to diminish the agonizing suffering endured by victims of sexual abuse routinely ignored by Planned Parenthood, often in violation of state and federal law.

New cases show child sexual abusers use Planned Parenthood to cover crimes

Planned Parenthood covers for child sexual predators by failing to report suspicion of sexual abuse when a minor is taken to them for birth control services or abortions. This can be seen in Live Action’s newest docuseries, Aiding Abusers:

In January of 2017, Live Action News published a state by state list of criminal cases where Planned Parenthood failed to report these abuses. Part one demonstrated Planned Parenthood’s failure to report child sexual abuse in Alabama, Arizona, and California. Part two added Colorado, Connecticut, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington. Another egregious case was found in Washington State. Below are more cases:

Alaska – Dana Ray Thompson

Image: Dana Ray Thompson

Dana Ray Thompson

In Alaska, where Planned Parenthood abortionists have stated that they believe all abortions are “medically necessary,” Dana Ray Thompson was convicted of multiple counts of first and second degree sexual abuse of a minor, plus multiple counts of exploitation of a minor and possession of child pornography following his sexual abuse of a teen victim — which included at least one trip to Planned Parenthood for birth control pills.

According to the court document, Thompson was in his mid-forties when he began a sexual relationship with his victim, referred to as “J.C.” The victim was 13 years old when Thompson began grooming her, telling her that “she had grown up,” asking about her bra size, and mentioning to J.C. that he wanted a sex slave.

According to the report, when J.C. turned 14, Thompson began talking to his victim about pornography and master-slave relationships, he then showed J.C. adult pornography. In 2005, Thompson began his sexual encounters with J.C. She was just 14 years old. Thompson then began engaging in more sexual activity with J.C., such as taking nude and sexually suggestive photographs of the young victim.

The court document states that when J.C. turned 15 years old, Thompson took her to Planned Parenthood “so that J.C. could obtain birth control,” after which, the predator and victim engaged in “multiple types of sexual intercourse.”

Given this timeline, it seems obvious from the court record that Planned Parenthood did not report suspicion of abuse. The abuse did not become public until the summer of 2008, three years after Thompson began his sexual assaults on the victim and at least two years after he took her to Planned Parenthood. According to the court document, the abuse became public when “J.C. spoke with a childhood friend who described being molested by an older man.” J.C. eventually told her mother who called the police. By this time, J.C. was 18, and had suffered additional abuse due to Planned Parenthood’s neglect.

Thompson is now registered with the state as a child sex offender and child kidnapper.

Arizona – Mark Joseph Tovar

Image: Mark Tovar

Mark Tovar

According to the Puma County Attorney’s Office, Mark Joseph Tovar began his deviant molestation and sexual assault against his step-daughter when she was about seven years old. He intentionally and maliciously abused her for her entire childhood, grooming her by his gradual sexual advances over a period of about 14 years. According to a court document, when the victim, referred to as “M.G.,” was just 15 years old, Tovar impregnated her. As a result, M.G.’s mother arranged for an abortion in July of 2004, and the documents states that “Tovar knew about M.G.’s pregnancy and abortion.”

Image: Sexual abuse victim taken for abortion

The court record indicates that a total of two abortions took place and they both occurred at Planned Parenthood. The second abortion took place after the victim had turned nineteen. In total, the documents indicates that, after Planned Parenthood obviously failed to report suspicion of abuse in the first instance, the victim became pregnant two other times, and kept the baby in one of the instances.

Image: Sexual abuse victim taken for abortion at Planned Parenthood

The sexual abuse wasn’t revealed to police until the victim was 22, nearly seven years after she was taken to Planned Parenthood at the age of 15.

Tovar was convicted of two counts of child molestation, three counts of sexual conduct with a minor under the age of fifteen, and four counts of sexual conduct with a minor. In March of 2014, the trial court imposed two life sentences and multiple presumptive terms totaling seventy-four years’ imprisonment, all to be served consecutively.

Illinois – Kenneth Mitchell

Image: Kenneth Mitchell

Kenneth Mitchell

Kenneth Mitchell was arrested by the Chicago Police Department on January 14, 2016, and was charged with sexual assault of a minor less than 13 years of age and sexual assault of a family member under 18. According to the Chicago Tribune, Mitchell sexually assaulted one of his victims from 1999 to 2002. The girl was eight years old when the attacks started, according to Assistant State’s Attorney April Gonzales. The report states, “The victim told a Planned Parenthood counselor of the assaults at some point in 2006 or 2007, Gonzales said. Prosecutors and court record information did not indicate whether the counselor reported the incidents to authorities.” However, the allegations were not reported to police until the fall of 2015, many years after the victim claims she told Planned Parenthood, leaving questions as to whether Planned Parenthood filed a report.

Indiana – Christopher Jewell

Christopher Jewell was the stepfather to a young victim who is referred to as “T.S.” in court documents.

According to the court record, he engaged in a sexual relationship with T.S. from March 25, 2004, through June 30, 2007, while she was between the ages of thirteen and sixteen. The activity included fondling, oral sex, and sexual intercourse. While only six counts were filed against Jewell by the State in this case, the victim testified that he sexually assaulted her over thirty times and maybe as many as fifty times over the three-year period.

The court document states that during the course of the abuse, Jewell took the victim to Planned Parenthood to get her birth control pills without her mother’s knowledge. No other details were mentioned, but this shows that young teens are being taken to Planned Parenthood by their abusers to cover their crimes.

Image: Christopher Jewell took sexual abuse victim to Planned Parenthood

Jewell was not arrested as a result of his visit to Planned Parenthood.

Instead, Jewell was arrested in August 2008, after taking the minor for a tattoo. It was while he was in jail for the charge of aiding or abetting the tattooing of a minor that the victim finally went public about the sexual abuse and revealed to her boyfriend and mother that Jewell sexually abused her. The disclosures were then relayed to authorities.

The State charged Jewell with two counts of Class B felony sexual misconduct with a minor, one count of Class C felony child molesting, one count of Class C felony sexual misconduct with a minor, and two counts of Class D felony child seduction. A jury found Jewell guilty on all six counts, and he was sentenced to an aggregate 40-year term for six counts of sexual misconduct and child molesting.

Texas – James Aaron Lenox

James Aaron Lenox (Image credit: Lone Star Fugitive Task Force)

51-year-old James Aaron Lenox took his victim to Planned Parenthood in Austin because she had never been to a doctor. He was arrested in early 2017 by the Texas’ Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, according to a report by KXAN. The article states that Lenox is accused of sex trafficking the 16-year-old.

According to reports, Lenox allegedly “gained guardianship over the girl, removed her from school, vowed to marry her and at one point threatened to kill her family.”

At the time of his arrest, police found nude pictures of the victim, with documents saying Lenox was the victim’s “uncle.” According to MySanAntonio.com:

After Lenox consented to a vehicle search, deputies found a briefcase containing separate folders. In one folder with a girl’s name on it, the deputies found several nude photos, documents state…. Lenox also allegedly took the girl to Planned Parenthood to get an IUD implanted, the documents said… the girl… was sexually assaulted by him…. Lenox is a registered sex offender who was convicted of indecency with a child via sexual contact in January 1989. The girl he molested was 8 years old.

KXAN reported Lenox told police that “he took the victim to Planned Parenthood in Austin because she had never been to a doctor. He told investigators the victim was worried about having some kind of disease. In an interview, the victim told police she had sexual encounters with Lenox.”

There was no indication in the article that Planned Parenthood contacted police. But whether they did or they did not, this tragic story illustrates how predators use Planned Parenthood, boldly taking their victims to the organization.

The article also notes that Lenox has been charged with trafficking a child — causing the child to engage in sexual conduct, a first degree felony.

Utah – Jose Cazares-Montalvo

Image: Utah sex predator takes teen to Planned Parenthood

Utah sex predator takes teen to Planned Parenthood

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, a 34-year-old man has been charged with 12 counts of rape, after sexually abusing a 15-year-old teen and allegedly taking the child to three Planned Parenthood facilities to attempt to obtain an abortion after he impregnated her.

The only roadblock this male sex predator received from Planned Parenthood was that it was required by state law to obtain parental consent for the abortion. When the predator was told that a parent or guardian must sign for the procedure, he took matters into his own hands, by allegedly giving the teen “a drink to induce a miscarriage.”

The paper did not name the perpetrator (though a second media outlet published the name as Jose Casares-Montalvo), but indicated that the call to police originated not from Planned Parenthood, but from the victim’s mother after she “found a plastic bottle of the liquid mixture in the teen’s room,” telling police that “she suspected her daughter had been raped, according to court documents.”

According to the media report, the predator admitted to police that he took the victim to Planned Parenthood, and “other documents accuse the man of trying to get the abortion ‘to hide what he had done.’”

Live Action News has previously documented cases in which Planned Parenthood staffers were accused of sexual abuse or harassment, as well as cases documenting what happens when sex trafficking victims are taken to abortion and Planned Parenthood facilities. A 2014 report from the Annals of Health Law, “Health Consequences of Sex Trafficking,” quotes one victim claiming that the reason she was taken to Planned Parenthood was because “Planned Parenthood didn’t ask any questions.”

Live Action previously released its own child sexual abuse investigation, which found that eight Planned Parenthood facilities in six different states were willing to cover up sexual abuse, including disregarding mandatory reporting laws of suspected statutory rape.

In addition, another undercover investigation by Live Action caught Planned Parenthood staffers willing to aid undercover investigators, posing as sex traffickers. Below is a compilation reel of that investigation:

Today, Planned Parenthood receives half a billion in tax dollars annually, thanks to Congress, which continues to fund the organization despite its known abuses and despite regulations showing that government dollars can be removed when providers of Title X Family Planning funds fail to report child abuse. And, just like the Harvey Weinsteins of the world, Planned Parenthood has its own complicity machine made up in part by the media and politicians who give them cover while they aid in the continued abuse of children.

Former Planned Parenthood staff: We were told not to report sexual abuse

Live Action’s Aiding Abusers docuseries, exposing how Planned Parenthood aids sexual abusers by failing to report child sexual abuse, makes it clear that the taxpayer-funded organization views children not as potential victims but more as “animals” who are unable to control their sexual appetites. In the latest release from the the Aiding Abusers docuseries, former Planned Parenthood workers reveal how the organization treated victims of sexual abuse:

In her introductions of the Former Workers video, Live Action president and founder Lila Rose points out:

When it comes to reports of sexual assault and sexual harassment, Planned Parenthood has used the slogan that we should ‘trust women,’ so lets’s follow that advice and listen to the testimonies of these four women who are former Planned Parenthood workers and managers who all say the same thing, that Planned Parenthood routinely covers-up child sexual abuse.

Image: Aiding Abusers Planned Parenthood Former Workers Testify

Aiding Abusers Planned Parenthood Former Workers Testify

In the video, former Planned Parenthood employee Catherine Adair observed how the organization routinely allowed sexual abusers into the counseling rooms with their victims. When Adair objected, she was scolded and told that the victims were better off with abortions.

“There’d be girls coming in with their abusers…. Even if I went to the manager and I said, look, there’s something going on here, she would say, ‘She’s better off with the abortions. We can’t do anything about what’s going on at home but at least we can give her the abortion.’”

Monica Cline, a former HIV health educator and Title X training manager, observed Planned Parenthood’s work first hand:

I was teaching on human trafficking and statutory rape, and was telling Planned Parenthood staff of Corpus Christi and the Gulf Coast, basically, you’ve got to report when you see a girl coming in with an older man that you can tell is not her father. You know something’s wrong, you’ve got to report that; it’s considered human trafficking. It is also considered statutory rape; you’ve got to report this. And they started laughing.

Image: Aiding Abusers Planned Parenthood laughs Former Worker Monica Cline

Aiding Abusers: Planned Parenthood laughs Former Worker Monica Cline

She went on to state, “And I said, ‘I don’t think there was anything I said that was funny. What’s going on here?’ And the response was, ‘Honey, if she’s not having sex with this man this week she’ll have another one next week.’”

Think about that response for a moment. If what Cline is saying is correct, victims of sexual abuse are seen by this abortion corporation as simply promiscuous and in need of abortions and birth control, rather than protection from sexual predators. And that is exactly what Cline went on to describe, noting that, in her opinion, Planned Parenthood sees potential victims of child sexual abuse in a “distorted” way (emphasis added):

And so their view of our children is distorted. It’s dehumanized. I don’t know why their hearts are hardened, but they are. And so when a girl or a young man goes there for an abortion, or condoms or testing, they don’t see them with compassion anymore, if they ever did. Um, they see them as just, almost like an animal who can’t control themselves; they’re always gonna have sex so we’re just going to give them enough lube and condoms and hope they come in to get tested before they get some kind of cancer. They’re not gonna stop statutory rape.

Um, one of the things that they even mentioned was, they adopted [a] don’t ask, don’t tell [policy]…. If we don’t ask how old her partner is, we don’t have to tell. And so, Planned Parenthood actually allows victims of human trafficking to continue to be victims of human trafficking. And they’re okay with that. I went back to my office and I told my supervisor, like — listen, I’m trying to teach them about key concepts on Title X; they’re admitting that they’re not gonna report cases of statutory rape.

The response from my supervisor was, “Your job is to teach them key concepts, and that’s it.” She was really upset with me that I challenged that.

Former Planned Parenthood manager Sue Thayer stated that Planned Parenthood was more concerned about potential “trouble” from the victim’s family or boyfriend than they were about the victim. Thayer told Live Action, “We were all required to be mandatory reporters, but if we saw a case… uh… questionable abuse, or even for sure — I mean, this kid is being abused – um, we really were discouraged from calling it in, just because, uh, they didn’t want to have the trouble, the angry parent, uh, the angry boyfriend, whatever it was. So, more than once I was told, ‘No, that is not reportable – you don’t need to call it in.’”

Former Planned Parenthood employee Marianne Anderson also testified to a systemic cover-up of sexual abuse at the abortion corporation. She described an Asian girl who came to Planned Parenthood with a very controlling man who even talked for the girl. The girl described living in a place with many other young women, little food, and little clothing. Perhaps you and I can read between the lines here, but for Planned Parenthood, no alarm bells were raised and all they saw were dollar signs for the abortion.

Image: Aiding Abusers Planned Parenthood former employee Marianne Anderson says PP covers child sexual abuse

Aiding Abusers: Planned Parenthood former employee Marianne Anderson says PP covers child sexual abuse

When Marianne was asked how she felt about the lack of concern Planned Parenthood had for this potential victim, she responded, “Degraded, like women don’t really matter.”

“Like men — some men can be very controlling — but I think Planned Parenthood even added to that,” the former Planned Parenthood employee said.

These former staffers are not alone. Victims themselves have pointed out Planned Parenthood’s willingness to be complicit in sexual abuse.

One victim’s story, published anonymously by Feminists for Life, claims that when she was abused at the age of 12 by both an older brother and a college-age friend of the family, Planned Parenthood’s only concern was how often she was having intercourse, not who may have impregnated her:

[M]y older brother took me to Planned Parenthood…. The whole visit was terrifying. No one explained anything. I was examined, gave urine and blood samples, and shown a chart of an egg going around a big circle marked by days of the month. I was asked questions like, “frequency of intercourse?” and “method of birth control preferred?” I did not know what intercourse meant, so I just said “a lot,” and I had no idea what methods of birth control existed. No one asked who my “partner” was; no one expressed any dismay, concern, or even interest that a 12-year-old girl needed a pregnancy test. I heard a lot about “being responsible” and “taking control of my body.

Someone gave me a handful of condoms on the way out and made a joke about it being an assortment — red, blue, and yellow. The yellow ones were called Tinglers. I stuffed them in my purse and threw them away later.

My older brother maintained a strong silence throughout the entire time — no one asked him a single question.

The victim claims that she ended up starting her period and did not keep the abortion appointment. In addition, she states that the sexual abuse ended only after one predator moved away and the older brother set his sights on other victims from the neighborhood.

Sadly, this girl’s abuse — and many other victims’ abuse — may have been prevented if Planned Parenthood had bothered to ask about potential abuse.

Live Action’s Lila Rose stated in a press release:

Live Action is releasing this report as the Time’s Up movement is exposing both sexual abusers and those who help them cover up their crimes — the people who knew about the abuse but stayed silent. While Planned Parenthood has attached itself to the Time’s Up movement, the movement should be calling out Planned Parenthood for decades of enabling sexual abusers.

‘Aiding Abusers’ series exposes Planned Parenthood’s complicity in covering sexual abuse

As Hollywood, the media, and others are being exposed for their complicity in covering up the sexual abuse and harassment of women, another organization has flown silently under the radar and remained hidden from the public’s scrutiny for decades, thanks also to the complicity of… you guessed it… Hollywood, the media, and others (like politicians). To this day, despite continually turning a blind eye to victims of abuse, there is an organization which receives cover from these abortion supporters, and it is time for it to end. This organization is Planned Parenthood.

Part one of Live Action’s seven part Aiding Abusers docuseries exposing a systemic, decades long cover-up of child sexual abuse at Planned Parenthood includes an overview of what you will view in each video Live Action is about to release.

The series is introduced by Live Action president and founder, Lila Rose, who says, “Through the TimesUP and MeToo movements, America is calling for an end to sexual abuse in every institution. Whether it’s Hollywood, sports, politics or big media; we’ve heard the names of perpetrators and their enablers — people who knew about the abuse, but did nothing to stop it.”

Image: Lila Rose introduces Live Action's Planned Parenthood Aiding Abusers series

Rose continues, “But few are calling out one of America’s biggest accomplices to sexual abuse even though there is widespread documentation of systemic sexual abuse cover-up behind its doors. The group is called Planned Parenthood, and they are tax funded.”

Image: Live Action's Planned Parenthood Aiding Abusers series

Live Action’s Planned Parenthood Aiding Abusers series

“Through Live Action’s seven part video series,” Rose states, “We will show you how Planned Parenthood consistently and deliberately fails to report instances of child sexual abuse to law enforcement. Our series includes many cases documented in the public record, including lawsuits and news reports of Planned Parenthood’s sexual abuse cover-up.”

Image: Live Action's Aiding Abusers series on Planned Parenthood sexual abuse cover up

Live Action’s Aiding Abusers series on Planned Parenthood sexual abuse cover up

In the Recorded Cases video, you will learn how children as young as 12 years old have been repeatedly and mercilessly abused by adult sexual predators due to the same “don’t ask/don’t tell” policies that existed during the Harvey Weinstein, Matt Lauer, Charlie Rose, Al Franken, and Kevin Spacey abuse scandals. And, yet, despite the rise of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements, Planned Parenthood has yet to be called out for its scandalous cover-ups of sexual abuse.

On the heels of Hollywood’s Golden Globe awakening regarding sexual abuse scandals, celebrities and reporters alike continue to turn a blind eye where Planned Parenthood is concerned. As a result, victims of abuse are often returned to the hands of their abusers by this organization to be raped and sexually assaulted for days, weeks, months and even years to follow. These victims have been silenced, there are no marches for them — and because of the power that this so-called “women’s health provider” wields, few are willing to step forward to be their voice.

Then, states Rose, “We then hear the testimony of former employees and managers that witness Planned Parenthood’s enabling of abuse, first hand.”

Image: Live Action's Aiding Abusers former staffers on Planned Parenthood sexual abuse cover up

Live Action’s Aiding Abusers former staffers on Planned Parenthood sexual abuse cover up

In the Former Workers video, interviews with former Planned Parenthood staffers will reveal that these cover-ups are systematic throughout the organization. Sue Thayer, former manager of a Planned Parenthood facility, claims that the organization discouraged mandatory reporting of child sexual abuse. In the era of #MeToo and #TimesUP, why has this organization, funded with half a billion tax dollars annually, been immune from the fallout of complicity in covering sexual abuse?

Catherine Adair, a former Planned Parenthood staffer, recounts how girls would come into her facility with their abusers, but she testified that the abortion facility staff’s attitude was that the girl “was better off with the abortion” rather than reporting the abuse.

Image: Catherine Adair in Aiding series about Planned Parenthood child sexual abuse cover up

Catherine Adair in Aiding series about Planned Parenthood child sexual abuse cover up

Monica Cline, an HIV health educator and Title X training manager, also testified to witnessing this cover-up of abuse. Cline claims that Planned Parenthood’s view of children is distorted and dehumanizing and stems from a false ideology that young people are “like and animals that cannot control themselves” where sex is concerned. She claims the organization has adopted a “don’t ask/don’t tell” policy on sexual abuse, in other words, “if we don’t ask how old her partner is, we don’t have to tell.”

Former Planned Parenthood employee Marianne Anderson also testified to a systemic cover-up of child sexual abuse at the abortion corporation. She described an Asian girl who came to her center with a very controlling man who even talked for the girl. The girl described living in a place with many other young women, little food, and little clothing. Perhaps you and I can read between the lines here, but for Planned Parenthood, no alarm bells were raised and all they saw was the dollar signs for the abortion.

Live Action Aiding Abusers series shows statutory rape investigation into Planned Parenthood

According to Rose, the Aiding Abusers series will also include “two of Live Action’s national undercover investigations into Planned Parenthood.”

The Statutory Rape video will recap when Live Action’s investigators went undercover to see first hand just how Planned Parenthood would respond when faced with alleged child sexual abuse. This systematic cover-up of abuse happening at Planned Parenthood can be seen with new eyes against the backdrop of the Harvey Weinstein scandal and others like it. Since Live Action’s investigation first aired, politicians, celebrities, and reporters have all failed to hold Planned Parenthood to account; rather, they have granted the organization cover.

Live Action’s Sex Trafficking video recaps another Live Action undercover investigation, this time revealing how Planned Parenthood staffers aided and abetted child sex traffickers. Since the first time this investigation was published, Live Action has learned how, rather than investigate the troubling accusations, members of the media simply published the abortion profiteer’s public relations talking points. This type of complicity machinearound Planned Parenthood not only keeps the organization in an unaccountable position of power, but also helps to aid in the continued abuse of child victims.

Next, Live Action will republish an interview with a former staffer who can testify that after Live Action’s investigation into the way Planned Parenthood aided and abetted sex traffickers, the abortion organization lied to the media when it claimed to be “retraining staff” regarding the reporting of these types of horrific abuses. Tragically, just as in many other instances of complicity in sexual abuse, the media has failed to hold this organization accountable and instead has been a willing pawn in its web of lies.

Planned Parenthood lied about retraining staffers on sexual abuse

“Our interview with former Planned Parenthood manager, Ramona Treviño,” Rose says in the Aiding Abusers overview video, “reveals that, in the wake of Live Action’s sex trafficking investigation, Planned Parenthood lied to the American people about retraining thousands of staff members to report suspected sexual abuse and human trafficking.”

In the final video of the series, “Prosecution,” Live Action will air a shocking interview with an attorney who, in addition to bringing charges against the Catholic Church for its role in covering up the sexual abuse of young boys, also brought two cases against Planned Parenthood for covering up the rape of teenage girls.

Attorney Brian Hurley discusses how Planned Parenthood covers child sexual abuse

Planned Parenthood’s ongoing history in failing to report suspected child abuse should, at the very least, result in the organization losing millions of taxpayer dollars under the federal Title X Family Planning Program. According to a March 2016 report by the Congressional Research Services, reporting suspicion of child sexual abuse is expected of Title X providers. The report stated that “although minors are to receive confidential services, Title X providers are not exempt from state notification and reporting laws on child abuse, child molestation, sexual abuse, rape, or incest.”

Planned Parenthood has violated this requirement time and time again, yet they continue to be funded. After Live Action’s investigations showed the organization potentially covering for sex traffickers, the deputy secretary for the Office of Population Affairs simply reiterated the expectation to report abuse instead of defunding the abortion giant.

A new rule, recently proposed by HHS, does require reporting of sexual abuse. This docuseries is further evidence as to why this is needed.

In total, Planned Parenthood receives half a billion dollars in federal and state tax monies, despite covering for child sexual predators. A state by state summary of the cases can be viewed at Live Action News, here and here. Additional stories can be read here. More examples will be published in upcoming articles of the Aiding Abusers docuseries. The summaries are tragic and show that time and again, young girls continued to be victimized by their abusers after receiving “services” at the abortion corporation.

Live Action’s Lila Rose stated in a press release:

Call upon Congress to investigate and defund this corrupt organization and demand that the media hold Planned Parenthood to account.

Planned Parenthood awards journalists who ignore their sexual abuse scandals

Past Live Action investigations and court cases have demonstrated Planned Parenthood‘s willingness to cover for child sexual predators and abusers, even returning victims to their abusers and failing to report underage pregnancies or suspected sexual abuse to authorities. This taxpayer-funded organization, receiving half a billion dollars in these funds annually, should be called to account, especially in a society so aware of sexual assault. So, why is Planned Parenthood’s corruption in this area being silenced by politicians, media and Hollywood alike?

It is possible that these Planned Parenthood-friendly groups know but choose to say nothing, because, like the New York Times recently discovered with Harvey Weinstein, Planned Parenthood has a network of complicit “bodyguards,” so to speak, protecting the organization from damaging scrutiny.

And yet, grueling testimonies and police reports of actual criminal cases in which Planned Parenthood patients, victimized by sexual abuse and rape and then taken for abortions, are available to read at Live Action News (herehere, and here).

Planned Parenthood-covers child sexual abuse

The media has repeatedly been caught in Planned Parenthood’s web of lies — though willingly, it seems, as many pro-choice “journalists” allow their support of abortion to keep them from doing real investigative reporting. Even in the face of proof, Planned Parenthood’s media complicity machine remains quiet, resulting in sexual abuse victims being forgotten.

In one example, physician and HLN host Dr. Drew Pinsky, a former employee of Planned Parenthood, came to Planned Parenthood’s defense when pro-lifers made allegations that the abortion corporation covered up child sexual abuse. Rather than do his own investigation, Dr. Drew lashed out at Alliance Defending Freedom’s (ADF) Director of Alliance Relations. Watch the exchange in the video below, where ADF includes the very “evidence” Dr. Drew failed to find on his own:

Dr. Drew admitted on his show that he worked for Planned Parenthood… hardly a non-biased reporting source. He said, “I was there. We were working for Planned Parenthood to create an environment where young women could feel safe….”

Safe? I don’t think so, Dr. Drew!

The complicit media machine

Planned Parenthood regularly rewards the media complicity machine by “honoring” them with the “Media Excellence” and “Maggie Awards.”

1. Irin Carmon – national reporter and Planned Parenthood awardee

Carmon is one of Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in Media and was a national reporter at MSNBC and NBC News. Yet, this “journalist” was recently highlighted at a Planned Parenthood event and has been awarded by the abortion corporation. To date, she has failed to report the way Planned Parenthood covers for child sexual predators.

2015 Planned Parenthood Maggie Award to media

And she is not alone.

The Planned Parenthood Federation of America bestowed Media Excellence Awards to 13 journalists during its 2016 National Conference Gala. Such as…

2. Amy Goodman – executive producer and Planned Parenthood awardee

Goodman, executive producer of Democracy NOW, received the “highest honor” from Planned Parenthood, according to Katie Yoder at NewsBusters.

Goodman, who regularly defends Planned Parenthood, has never spoken out about the organization’s covering of sexual assault crimes.

3. Michelle Goldberg – columnist and Planned Parenthood board member

Michelle Goldberg became an Op-Ed columnist for The New York Times in 2017. Previously, she was a columnist at Slate, and a radio and TV commentator appearing in The New Yorker, Newsweek, The Nation, The New Republic, The Guardian and other publications. She was also a keynote speaker for Planned Parenthood, attended several other Planned Parenthood events, and sat on the board of Southwest & Central Florida Planned Parenthood. No bias here, huh?

Rather than stand with sexual assault victims and expose Planned Parenthood, Goldberg defends them.

4. Linda Greenhouse – Pulitzer prize winner and Planned Parenthood keynote speaker

Greenhouse is a New York Times journalist who has also keynoted for Planned Parenthood Houston.

Linda Greenhouse keynote for Planned Parenthood

According to a report by the Washington Post, Greenhouse wrote in her book “Just a Journalist: On the Press, Life and the Spaces Between,” that she regularly donates to Planned Parenthood and wasn’t content to just allow Planned Parenthood to deduct a monthly contribution from her bank account:

It was important to me to write a check every month and sign my name. It was the signature of a citizen. The stories that appeared under my byline, on abortion and all other subjects, were the work of a journalist. If anyone ever thought those failed to measure up to professional standards, they never told me or anyone else.

One look at Greenhouse’s writings should tell you all you need to know about whether her pro-abortion ideology informs her journalism.

5. Anna Quindlen – Pulitzer prize winner and Planned Parenthood Federation of America board member

Quindlen is a former columnist at The New York Times who won the Pulitzer Prize for journalism. She recently attended PP’s 100th gala and sits on the Planned Parenthood Federation of America Board. Need I say more?

To date, Ross and Markstrom have yet to call out Planned Parenthood’s real naughty deeds.

9. Dee Dee Myers – political analyst, editor, and Planned Parenthood keynote speaker

Myers was the keynote speaker at a Florida Planned Parenthood event. According to HuffPo, Myers is a political analyst, commentator and contributing editor to Vanity Fair, and lecturer on politics. After leaving her position as White House Press Secretary under President Clinton, Myers took a spot on CNBC political talk show, “Equal Time.” She brags that her work has appeared in numerous publications including The New York Times, Time Magazine, O, the Oprah Magazine, the Washington Post, Politico and the Los Angeles Times.

Interestingly, none of that “work” includes any real serious investigations into Planned Parenthood.

10. Cynthia Tucker – Pulitzer prize winner, editor, and Planned Parenthood awardee

Tucker describes herself as a “veteran newspaper journalist, Pulitzer Prize winner and a highly-regarded commentator on TV and radio news shows.” Tucker was also editorial page editor of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper for 17 years and is a Planned Parenthood Maggie Award recipient. In 2014, Tucker, along with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and Glamour Magazine, was “honored” by Planned Parenthood.

And none of them have spoken out about any of Planned Parenthood’s scandals other than to defend them.

The list goes on and on.

Media elites are more eager to prop up Planned Parenthood than courageously take the side of young sexual abuse victims to expose Planned Parenthood. We can only hope that one day, light will shine on Planned Parenthood and the media complicity machine that protects them.
