Two former employees of Philadelphia abortion doctor, Kermit Gosnell, serving life in prison for killing babies who were born alive have been sentenced for their roles in the case.
Forty-five-year-old phlebotomist Lynda Williams was sentenced Thursday to 5 to 10 years in prison on two counts of third-degree murder.

Forty-eight-year-old receptionist Tina Baldwin was sentenced to 30 months of probation for her guilty plea to sustaining a corrupt organization and other offenses.

Both women testified against Dr. Kermit Gosnell, who was convicted last year in the killing of babies born alive and viable during illegal late-term abortions and in the overdose death of a patient.
In another case involving Gosnell, Phoenixville resident Eileen O’Neill, 56, was sentenced last summer to house arrest.
O’Neill, an unlicensed doctor who worked for Gosnell, was sentenced in July 2013 to 6 to 23 months of house arrest by Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey P. Minehart.
According to the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, O’Neill will be on probation for two years after she completes her house arrest and has to complete 100 hours of community service.

Both women were typical of those Gosnell hired: poorly educated, with serious personal problems, and willing to work for cash “under the table.”
Williams was a widow with three children who met Gosnell at a Wilmington abortion clinic where he also worked. Gosnell began treating her for bipolar illness and hired her.
Baldwin began working for Gosnell after her internship at the clinic when she was at Germantown High School.
Baldwin’s lawyer, Colin R. Hueston, asked Lerner for probation, noting that she reports to a federal prison July 7 to begin an 18-month term on her guilty plea to drug conspiracy charges involving the sale of narcotic prescriptions at Gosnell’s clinic.
“I wish I never got involved,” Baldwin told Lerner. “I’m sorry for the things I did.”

• Tina Baldwin testified that Gosnell treated women differently, based on their race.
• White women “with money” were taken to an “immaculate” upstairs room where Gosnell treated them personally.
• Poor black, Latino and other women were kept in the clinic’s dingy, dirty downstairs rooms, and were usually treated by medically unqualified staff.
• Tina Baldwin said she asked Gosnell about why he treated white women differently from the others. She recalled him saying, “Sorry, but that’s how it is.”
According to the Kermit Gosnell Grand Jury Report, “Lynda Williams was hired to work full-time in 2008. She had previously worked with Gosnell at Atlantic Women’s Medical Services in Delaware, and had filled in from time to time at 3801 Lancaster Avenue. Gosnell originally hired Williams to clean instruments, but very soon had her anesthetizing abortion patients, performing ultrasounds, administering Cytotec vaginally, and dealing with babies born alive while he was not at the clinic. The way Williams dealt with the babies was the way the doctor showed her – she cut their spinal cords with scissors. She was not certified or licensed to perform any of these duties. Williams commuted to work with Sherry West and kept the same hours. She and West were supposedly attending to Karnamaya Mongar in the recovery room throughout the afternoon of November 19, 2009. It was Williams who actually administered the lethal mixes of Demerol, promethazine, and diazepam that killed Karnamaya Mongar. When the clinic was raided in February 2010, she was still employed and still administering anesthetics to patients.“
