UPDATE: Since publishing this blog, Jessica’s mom has contacted Saynsumthn, she has stated that she has not changed her opinions on abortion as stated originally. Saynsumthn reported what Jessica said in her public interview but in fairness is adding this disclaimer along with the mother’s comments (below) to the post.

A woman whose abortion at 23 weeks landed her in the hospital spoke out recently about her regret and the harm her decision has cost her.

Jessica D. was interviewed by Al Kresta along with pro-life advocate Lynn Mills. Jessica met Mills after she saw a comment Mills posted on this blog.

The hour long interview was emotional and full of details which may disturb some readers, be warned.

BACKGROUND

Jessica was married and had a disabled child when, in February of 2014 she and her husband made the decision to have an abortion. She said that when she found out she was pregnant- she was panicked.

“When you’re in panic mode you don’t think – you don’t have emotions to fix things,” she told Al Kresta.

Jessica recounted how her mom had worked for Planned Parenthood years before she decided to have her abortion.

She thought her mom, who remained relatively silent when she contemplated the decision to have an abortion, was supportive.

But after she had the second trimester procedure Jessica said that her mom shocked her by asking why she did not place the child for adoption instead.

“I grew up in a very pro-choice home. We were not very religious and pro-lifers were crazy – that lie and nothing is the truth and they stretch the truth and you can’t trust it
,” Jessica said.

Although Jessica mentioned her pregnancy to her mom who was not employed by Planned Parenthood at the time, she was not involved in her ultimate decision to have the abortion.

“After I had the procedure and she knew all along, she said to me on the phone: Why didn’t you just give it up for adoption? And, to hear my mom say that was the most heartbreaking thing she said because my mom was always for abortion and women’s rights.”

THE ABORTION

In February of 2014, Jessica went to the offices of abortionist Jacob Kalo who set up an appointment for her to see another abortionist, in Lathrup Village, his name was Reginald Sharpe.

ReginaldSharpe-SummitMedicalCenter03082013-120x160

Jessica was 23 weeks and 5 days along just under the 24 week limit in Michigan.

Jessica told Kresta that she was not given any counseling by the abortion clinic.

It was just a price given,” she stated.

“He said right then it would be $4000.00 the week before the 27th. And we didn’t have the full amount and he said it goes up- the longer you wait the higher it is.”

Jessica said the abortionist then gave her advice on how to get a second mortgage on her house or car.

“He said if I get past 24 weeks he would refer me to go to New York.”

babyat20weeks

Jessica said she was not shown any fetal development pictures as well.

Michigan state law requires an informed consent before an abortion can be performed. In most cases abortion minded women would be able to review informed consent documents online prior to the procedure. But in Jessica’s case, even though Planned Parenthood did not perform the abortion, she was able to go to them to review the informed consent package.

“When I went for my 24 hour consent form at Planned Parenthood, they said ‘now you don’t have to open this packet. This is for the pro-lifers and this isn’t accurate.’ And so, even looking at that I didn’t know what to trust.”

According to Michigan law, the following documents are required to be given to a woman seeking an abortion at least 24 hours prior to the abortion procedure:

A written summary of the abortion procedure she will undergo.
Depictions, illustrations or photographs of fetal development corresponding to the gestational age nearest the probable gestational age of the woman’s fetus.
    Prenatal care information
    Parenting information

THE PROCEDURE

Jessica said the abortion procedure was unlike anything the clinics advertise online. She called the treatment “poor at best.”

“Its like you’re not even human,” she stated.

“It’s so bad I was put into the room and into stirrups and no clothes and nothing covering and I waited for about an hour and a half. There is no dignity in it and it’s painful. It’s like you’re not even there.”

The abortion was a two day procedure.

DAY ONE:

The first day, Jessica said that she received an injection of digoxin and her overall visit to the clinic lasted about twenty minutes.

Digoxin is a drug injected into an unborn baby to cause his or her heart to stop in preparation for what amounts to a stillborn birth.

It was very painful, Jessica reiterated.

“The first day I was told there would be mild cramping. And, you actually go into labor. When they send you home…I had my son natural and this was much worse.”

Because the pain was so acute, Jessica’s husband called the abortion clinic’s emergency number and they told her under no circumstances to go to the emergency room.

DAY TWO

Jessica said that on day two she was not given any pain medication for the procedure.

I was told I would have medications and fluids…I was expecting sedation and medication,” she said.

She recalls that after forty-five minutes the abortionist had to stop to call 911 due to a perforated uterus and massive blood loss.

When he did perforate my uterus, I had sat up,” she said.

What happened next will remain ingrained in Jessica’s mind forever.

She continues, “And I saw this red bucket on the floor and – uh – what I saw was just…” at that point in the interview Jessica could not say it, but Mills explained that what Jessica saw was her dismembered baby.

It was so painful,” she said.

“It was pulling- he was pulling.”

Jessica told Kresta that while she lay there bleeding she felt that it would be better if she would just die.

According to Jessica, parts of her almost 24 week unborn child had gone outside the perforation and the abortionist was having difficulty removing them. She told Mills earlier that the abortionist had been training another doctor to do the later term procedure that day.

While Jessica waited for the emergency responders, she said the doctor changed his clothes and “Swiffered and cleaned up. Then, they placed an IV for the EMS people and kind of scrambled around.” She remained unclothed during this time, she stated.

WOmanCare 911

Mills sent Saynsumthn a transcript of the February 28, 2014 911 call were abortionists Reginald Sharpe tells the dispatcher they need to come right away because, “she has a hole and she’s bleeding.”

You can read that here.

According to Mills, after the EMS techs arrived, the abortionist would not allow them to take her out the front door. She was removed out the back door which made the transfer more excruciating for Jessica who was already in pain.

Jessica said that prior to making the decision to have the abortion, she had no expectation that anything would go wrong because everything she read online said it was a simple and safe procedure.

As a result of the botched abortion, Jessica had to remain hospitalized for several days.

REGRET

Jessica said that days after she was released from the hospital she began to realize just what she had done in having the abortion.

She said she began to look up information online to try and discover why her experience was so unlike what she had read about regarding abortions generally.

“I had a big conflict in my heart about my procedure and why everything I read online was not what happened to me.”

Over ten months my life was just devastated,” Jessica emotionally stated, “I lost over eighty pounds.”

Jessica said the abortion put incredible strain on the marriage.

“I don’t think he realized how, like I didn’t realize how fully formed and what we had done.It was terrible.”

“I had actually had a suicide plan at that time things were so low,” she said.

According to Jessica, meeting Lynn Mills was her last effort to make sense of what had happened.

Lynn Mills 162752_000_GI89G63UR.1-0Mills said that Jessica found her online after reading a post at Saynsumthn’s blog (here) and got Mills’ e-mail address from the comment she had left for another abortion patient.

She then contacted Mills.

Mills is helping Jessica work through the pain and regret of the abortion.

Jessica said that she is planning to get counseling for the abortion as well as her marriage. She is working on forgiving herself.

WomensCenterSouthfield SuspendedMill

According to Mills, the state of Michigan has since suspended the license of the abortion clinic.

CONCLUSION

Jessica and Mills have become friends and Jessica said Mills is someone she can tell everything about this experience to without judgement.

I want pro-lifers out there to really be kind and loving to my friend Jessica…All I want to do is love her- just love her and get her healthy. Jessica doesn’t want this to happen to anyone else,” Mills said in closing.

Jessica said that her mother has actually changed her position on abortion as a result of what she experienced.

UPDATED AFTER THIS BLOG WAS PUBLISHED: However, Jessica’s mother says she has not changed her mind by writing this in the comments, “I am Jessica’s mother. I was never interviewed by anyone, nor did I change my “position” about abortion. This blog is not factual in many areas. Please keep this in mind when reading.”

Mills encourages pro-lifers to go out to abortion clinics as often as possible to try and reach the Jessicas who might be considering ending their child’s life.

Jessica knows that telling her story will anger some people. She said she came forward because she wanted others to know they do not have to go through what she did and to seek help not abortion if you are a women in a crisis pregnancy.

BACK STORY

In 2013, this blogger posted this story: Ambulance removes woman from Michigan abortion clinic, detailing an ambulance being summoned to the Summit Medical Services abortion clinic in Detroit, where Reginald Sharpe worked at the time.

At the time of that Blog post, Sharpe had been sued at least five times.

The patient, who was injured from the abortion Sharpe performed on her, stumbled onto the Saynsumthn’s blog post.

While there she saw a series of comments from a a woman who claimed she took a patient to the clinic and another who claimed she caught VD because of unsanitary equipment:

Although the woman did not leave a comment herself, she responded to the e-mail address of a local pro-lifer who put her in touch with local pro-life investigator Lynn Mills.

Mills told Saynsumthn, that because she stumbled onto this blog- she is now willing to testify before the state about the treatment she received while under Sharpe’s care for an abortion at Women’s Center of Southfield.

According to Mills, the abortionist perforated the woman’s uterus after she went to him for a 23 week and five day abortion. Mills said after the botched procedure, the woman was removed from the abortion clinic out the back door by ambulance. Mills has a recording of the 911 call placed at the time the ambulance was called, which she hopes state investigators will listen to in deciding whether to allow the clinic to continue operating.

Unidentified female caller: She is 29 years old; she’s a female.

Receiver: 29 (typing termination)

Unidentified female caller: She needs to go to the hospital like as soon as possible. Immediately.

Receiver: Termination. Ok. Of.

Abortionist Reginald Sharpe: This is Dr. Sharpe, how are you doing?

Receiver: Good. We’re going to get the paramedics coming that way. I’m just asking the questions and we’ll get them coming to 28505 Southfield, ok?

Abortionist Reginald Sharpe: We need them right now, she has a hole and she’s bleeding.

Receiver: Ok, gotcha. We’ll get them coming.

Abortionist Reginald Sharpe: Ok, about how long do you think?

Receiver: As soon as I hang up on with you will get them coming that way, Doctor. Bye-bye.

Abortionist Reginald Sharpe: Alright.

According to Mills, the woman had to be hospitalized for several days as a result of her abortion.

Mills said the state Attorney General has since ordered the closure of Sharpe’s Woman’s Center of Southfield pending the outcome of an investigation.

A woman who will be testifying at a press conference outside a Michigan abortion clinic got her courage to come forward after reading this blog.

Pro-lifers will call for a permanent end to a Lathrup Village abortion clinic when they gather in front of the Women’s Center of Southfield on Tuesday. The clinic is owned by abortionist Jacob Kalo and abortions are performed by abortionist Reginald Sharpe.

Ambulance removes woman from Michigan abortion clinic

Pro-lifers in Michigan say that a woman was removed from the Summit Medical Center abortion clinic in Detroit, Michigan by ambulance yesterday. This is the second such incident at this abortion clinic since March.

ReginaldSharpe-SummitMedicalCenter03082013-120x160
According to pro-lifer Lynn Mills, “Reginald D. Sharpe was the Summit contract abortionist this am when it happened.”

Not the first time an ambulance was called, according to reports, on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at approximately 6pm an ambulance arrived at the Summit Medical Services abortion clinic in Detroit. A woman is being taken out the back entrance to the clinic by emergency responders. The woman had been counseled earlier in the day by members of the pro-life group Guadalupe Partners. The woman was there for a 2nd trimester abortion.

Abortionist Reginald Sharpe is at the clinic when the woman is being taken out to the ambulance. A few clinic workers are at the back door. Sharpe’s Jeep vehicle is directly to the left of the ambulance–proof that he was there.

This is the same Reginald Sharpe whose clinics recently closed in Detroit and Livonia, MI, and who in October 2012 filed for federal bankruptcy. This is the same Reginald Sharpe who dumped aborted babies in the trash dumpster behind his Livonia Women’s Advisory facility and discovered by Citizens for a Pro-Life Society. See: http://www.imagesofabortion.com. In 2008 a woman died from complications to an abortion Sharpe performed in his Detroit clinic. More recently two other women had to undergo full hysterectomies from botched abortions he performed. see http://www.prolifesociety.com for more details on these cases.

The question is– will this woman–taken by ambulance from Summit– suffer the same fate? It is irresponsible for the Summit clinic to hire Reginald Sharpe considering the great harm he has done to women– not to mention the unborn children he has put to death.

Reginald Sharpe worked for the Women’s Advisory Center, abortion, before working for Summit.

Abortionist Reginald Sharpe, who owned the Women’s Advisory Center, abortion clinic, filed for bankruptcy, alleging assets of up to 50 thousand dollars and liabilities somewhere between 100 thousand and 500 thousand dollars. He was also the subject of three lawsuits, one filed by the family of a 26-year-old Detroit woman who died following an abortion performed by Sharpe.

ReginaldSharpeDeath2008
Here are his workers making light of that death:

Since the closings, Sharpe was hired by the Summit Women’s Center abortion clinic in Detroit.

Sharpe’s medical license was placed on probation in 1998 for illegally administrating drugs and was suspended in 2005 after he botched an illegal 27-week abortion. Sharpe was busted in 2008 for illegally dumping patient records, aborted babies, medical waste, and syringes. In 2010 Medicaid revoked Sharpe’s certification for unspecified “fraud and abuse, false billing, or kickbacks.”

In addition, Sharpe has been sued at least five times:

• March 2006: Sharpe/Northland Family Planning abortion clinic paid a $50,000 settlement for failure to diagnose an ectopic pregnancy, which led to the loss of a fallopian tube.
• January 2009: Sharpe sued for committing an abortion without the mother’s consent. Case is on appeal.
• April 2011: Sharpe sued by the family of a woman who died following an abortion, for perforating her uterus and lacerating a uterine blood vessel, intestines, and liver.
• August 2012: After missing an ectopic pregnancy during an abortion on April 2011, Sharpe sued after the mother’s fallopian tube burst.
• August 2012: Sharpe sued for an August 2011 botched abortion after leaving a baby’s head inside a mother’s uterus and fetal parts floating in her abdomen as well as puncturing her uterus at least seven times.

This lawsuit was also filed against Sharpe, for an abortion the plaintiff felt was not necessary.

In 2005 – The State of Michigan issues a 120-day suspension of Dr. Reginald Sharpe’s medical license, places Dr. Sharpe under a 1-year probationary period, and fines him $5,000 for multiple violations of the Public Health Code.

The MI Dept of Community Health issued the immediate suspension of Dr. Reginald Sharpe’s medical license, after finding that the public health, safety, or welfare required emergency action.

READThe MI Dept of Community Health files an administrative complaint against Dr. Reginald Sharpe for negligence, incompetence, and lack of good moral character, after Dr. Sharpe botched a 27-week abortion, left the facility for 3 hours while the woman bled and screamed in pain, and demanded that EMS personnel not take the victim to the hospital.

After 30 years in operation, Livonia’s last remaining abortion clinic has permanently closed.

YouTube censors another pro-life video

Posted in Abortion, Planned Parenthood, Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 24, 2009 by saynsumthn

The Citizens for a Pro-Life Society (CPLS) say that their video depicting the Catholic funeral and burial ceremonies of abortion victims has been censored by the video-sharing site YouTube – which now has an established reputation for removing pro-life videos and issuing “warning strikes” against their owners’ accounts.

img13

CPLS reports that YouTube pulled the original five-minute film “Requiem for the Disappeared” on August 29. The film shows the remains of 23 unborn children whose bodies were buried after being salvaged last year from trash dumpsters behind abortionist Alberto Hodari’s Womancare abortion clinic in Lathrup Village, MI., and abortionist Reginald Sharpe’s Women’s Advisory abortion clinic in Livonia, MI. The video is accompanied by the song “Tell Me Who I Am,” which was crafted for the video and produced by Mediatrix Records.

“Requiem for the Disappeared” is the third CPLS video removed by YouTube, who also issued a warning strike against the group’s account. YouTube indicated that the video was removed for violating the site’s prohibition against images “intended to be shocking, sensational or disrespectful.

According to the site’s guidelines: “if a video is particularly graphic or disturbing, it should be balanced with additional educational or documentary context and information.”

CPLS argues that the images of the children’s’ remains were given appropriate and respectful context, and were not intended to shock, saying the video was “obviously crafted to teach, to provoke thought, to provide a moral lesson.”

The group said it was considering legal action against YouTube.

I feel strongly that we must call You Tube to responsibility,” said CPLS director Monica Migliorino Miller. “It’s obvious that pro-lifers are consistently discriminated against on this website.”

img24

In August, YouTube removed a video (available here) published by Operation Rescue showing the abusive behavior of a man working for Nebraska abortionist LeRoy Carhart against a pro-lifer. YouTube indicated that the video inappropriately used the site as a “venue for things like predatory behavior, stalking, threats, harassment, intimidation, invading privacy, revealing other people’s personal information, and inciting others to commit violent acts.”

I completely resent the outrageous and false notion that the video was in anyway abusive on our part,” said Operation Rescue’s Cheryl Sullenger. “The threats and intimidation shown in this video were made by the Carhart employee against the pro-life photographer, Larry Donlan. I posted the video with his permission so that the world could see the truth about the abuse and threats that pro-lifers are forced to endure.

Earlier that month, Live Action Films launched a petition against YouTube’s attack against pro-life videos. Live Action has had several of its videos exposing controversial and illegal practices by Planned Parenthood pulled from the site.

Youtube claims to be free of ideological censorship,” said Live Action Films president Lila Rose. “But they are clearly censoring an opinion they dislike, an opinion that goes against Planned Parenthood – which, as many are open about, has a good deal of influence in a lot of mainstream media, and now sadly in the new media, in YouTube.”
