Convicted: pro-choice man who sought death of girlfriend for refusing abortion

Posted in pro-choice violence, Violence against women with tags , , , , , , on June 1, 2015 by saynsumthn

A Connecticut man has been found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder and being an accessory to murder after hiring a hit man to kill his pregnant girlfriend when she refused to have an abortion.

21 year-old Shamari Jenkins, was shot in the back in the murder for hire scheme after her ex-boyfriend, 23-year-old Carlton “C.J.” Bryan (show below on the left ) convinced his friend, 26-year-old Matthew Allen Hall-Davis (shown below on the right) to murder the pregnant woman on April 29, 2013.

Prosecutors say that Bryan “did not want to be saddled with that child.”

Hall-Davis was eventually convicted of murder and weapons charges. He was sentenced to 70 years in prison and an additional five years for criminal possession of a firearm.

Below is a news story at the time of Bryan’s arrest:

http://launch.newsinc.com/?type=VideoPlayer/Single&widgetId=1&trackingGroup=69016&siteSection=nydailynews&videoId=24870366

According to reports, Hall-Davis shot Jenkins, who was four month pregnant, in the back of the shoulder as she sat in her vehicle in what Bryan orchestrated as a “high crime area” so police would not be suspicious of the shooting.

Bryan was in the passenger seat and was not hurt.

The bullet hit Jenkins’ shoulder and traveled through her torso, police said. She and her unborn baby boy were pronounced dead at the hospital.

Prosecutor Cathryn Krinitsky said that Bryan wanted Jenkins dead because she “previously decided to have an abortion but decided not to.”

Witnesses testified that Bryan had talked to them about his anger toward Jenkins, who wanted to have the baby, and how her refusal to have an abortion angered him to the point of wanting her dead.

For his part in the murder, Bryan faces a potential life prison sentence.

Sentencing is set for July 30.

Mark Crutcher, president of Life Dynamics, Inc. has documented that violence against pregnant women who refuse to submit to abortion is not rare.

Under The Radar report pro-choice men force abortio

In the report entitled, “Under-the-Radar Violence in the Conflict Over Abortion,” Crutcher points out that, when Life Dynamics was able to obtain copies of police reports, indictments, court records or other similar documentation for the cases they found, they would almost universally show that when a perpetrator is confronted by an unwanted pregnancy, his first response is not violence but a demand that his partner have an abortion. When violence ensues, it is inevitably a reaction to her refusal to comply.

Adding to this is the fact that the leaders of the contemporary “women’s movement” are acutely aware of this situation and remain stone cold silent about it,” Crutcher states in the report.

For political and public relations reasons, those who most loudly proclaim “a woman’s right to choose,” have shown no interest in “a woman’s right not to choose.” On one hand, they may not approve of women being bludgeoned or killed for refusing to have abortions. But on the other hand, they have made it clear that they are willing to write-off these women as just collateral damage in the war to keep abortion legal,” he says.

Crutcher points out that early feminists who opposed abortion warned society that legalized abortion would become a mechanism for men like Bryan and those he lists in his report to avoid any commitments to the women whose bodies they use or any responsibility for the children they father.

Regrettably, that is what we see being played out in front of us today. American society has now devolved to the point where a male’s responsibility for an unplanned pregnancy he helped to create is often defined as a willingness to pay for half the abortion and provide transportation to the clinic,” Crutcher says.

War on Women UTR

The question is: How would the kind of men who rely on abortion as a safety net react when the women they impregnate are unwilling to jump into it?” he asks.

Pro-choice man on trial for murder of pregnant girlfriend with twins

Posted in pro-choice violence, Violence against women with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on April 17, 2015 by saynsumthn

Trial began this week in the stabbing death of a pregnant teen whose boyfriend allegedly killed her when she refused to have an abortion.

17-year-old Ryan Matthews is on trial for the murder of his 16-year-old pregnant girlfriend, Arrjiana Hill.

Arrinana Hill 920x920

The girl’s younger brother found her murdered in her Texas home March of 2014.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Assistant Brazoria County District Attorney Travis Townsend told jurors he and fellow prosecutor Kurt Sistrunk would show that Matthews, 16 at the time, killed Hill at her family’s Pearland home during a tryst because he feared that his college and sports careers would be ruined if she gave birth.

According to Pearland, Texas police, Hill was pregnant with twins at the time of her death and a paternity analysis determined the Matthews was the father.

A local news report states that when Hill told Matthews that she missed her period he asked her if she “punched herself in the stomach.”

Ryan Antonio Matthews 920x920

According to the police report at the time of the arrest, an examination of Matthews’ cellphone showed online searches relating to pregnancy, including how late a doctor could perform an abortion in Texas, how to cause a miscarriage and if having sex while pregnant is safe for the fetus.

Matthews texts Hill on Feb. 28, 2014, saying, “why risk our life’s education and my sports career?” by having a child.

He then urges her to have an abortion as one news outlet reports:

On February 26, according to prosecutors, Hill found out through a home test that she was pregnant.

It was confirmed by doctors the next day.

Then, on February 28, Matthews texted Hill telling her to get an abortion saying, “…so it doesn’t **** up our lives.

Then March 6, according to investigators, Hill told Matthews she was pregnant with twins.

Matthews responded, allegedly by text saying, “WTF? That’s not good news“, “I can’t belive this is **** – ing happing to me.

March 21, the day Hill died Matthews texted her and urged her to meet him after school for a sexual encounter at her house.

The Houston Chronicle reports what happened next:

Hill sends the last text she will ever write at 1:41 p.m., telling Matthews she is with a coach.

The couple leave school together at 1:56 p.m. Video surveillance shows he is wearing blue jeans, a blue shirt, tan leather shoes and a multicolored backpack.

At 2:02 p.m. a car driven by a friend arrives at the guardhouse of the gated Lakes at Country Place community carrying Matthews and Hill. They are dropped off at Hill’s parents house at 3203 E. Cedar Hollow.

At 2:09 p.m. Matthews does a search on his cell phone for “Can you smash a baby in the womb?” and “Can you squish your baby in the womb.”

There is no activity on Matthews phone for the next 34 minutes.

Matthews’ friend picks him up at 3:02 p.m.

Shortly after 4:22 p.m., Hill’s 13-year-old brother, Khistler, gets off a school bus and enters his home to find his parents’ room in shambles. He calls for his sister but gets no response, he testifies. Terrified, he calls his parents. His father discovers his daughter’s body in her room.

Matthews’ attorneys claim their client is innocent.

Matthews has been certified as an adult and has been charged with capital murder where he faces 40 years in prison if convicted.

WWYD? Boy tells pregnant girlfriend she must get abortion

Posted in pro-choice, Pro-Life with tags , , , , , , , on December 5, 2014 by saynsumthn

The TV show What Would You Do has produced an episode of a pregnant women being forced by her boyfriend to have an abortion.

The show uses actors to portray real life circumstances to see how the public would react.

WWYD couple

The interchange occurs inside a restaurant geared for the patrons to overhear the argument to catch their reactions on camera.

In the scenario, the pregnant actor tells her pretend boyfriend she is pregnant.

He gets irritated, accuses her of sleeping around and tells her she has to have an abortion, “You’re ending this pregnancy or I’m ending this relationship,” he insists.

As she sticks to her decision to not have an abortion, the actor playing her boyfriend abandons her in the restaurant and storms out.

WWYD Girls abortion

A table of girls seated by the couple offers the crying pregnant teen a ride home telling her, “He’s not worth it….you should keep the baby.”

WWYD man

As they reset and do the act again, the patrons appear uncomfortable, “How’d you want me to responds yeah, I’m a daddy now?” the young man says loudly, “You wanna keep this baby? I’m going to show you how to be alone, this is what it feels like,” he says as he storms out of the building.

The pregnant actor sits alone crying until one man goes over to ask if the young pregnant woman is okay and needs a ride, “You don’t deserve that, you know,” he tells her.

She is invited to join he and his mom at their table where she tells them she is 16 and doesn’t want an abortion. Although the man’s mother tells her it will be hard to keep a baby at that age, the sympathetic man intervenes and says, “You don’t know that,” in an effort to be more comforting.

What Would You Do if you overheard this conversation in a public place?

Monday, the son of a Florida doctor admitted in court that he intentionally tricked his pregnant girlfriend into taking a drug he hoped would cause a miscarriage. Florida resident, John Andrew Welden pleaded guilty to federal charges of product tampering and mail fraud, admitting that he slipped his ex-girlfriend the abortion drug. According to reports, the 28-year-old man did not want to be a father, so when his girlfriend, Remee Jo Lee, got pregnant, Welden faked a prescription for an abortion pill, switched a label so the medication appeared to be a common antibiotic, and gave her the drug. The drug did its job. The unborn baby died. Welden faces up to 15 years in prison at his sentencing hearing scheduled for Dec. 5.

Last week a 24-year-old Wisconsin man was found guilty after pleading no contest to charges he punched a pregnant woman in the stomach to make her miscarry and then doused her with gasoline. According to the criminal complaint, Tyler Ress poured gas on Carrie Lynn Mayhone and then held a lighter near her, threatening to start her on fire. He punched Mayhone, who was pregnant, in the stomach several times, telling her he wanted to force her to abort the baby.

In June of this year 26-year-old Ryan Timothy Reeves, was arrested and accused of assaulting his pregnant girlfriend. According to the police report, Reeves told his girlfriend if she did not get an abortion, he would stomp on her stomach with his cowboy boots. Reeves has been charged with third-degree domestic assault and second-degree property damage.

Also in June, 21-year-old Carlton “CJ” Bryan, was arrested and accused of hiring a hit man to kill his pregnant girlfriend, Shamari Jenkins. Police believe the motive for the murder was over Jenkin’s decision not to have an abortion.

Mark Crutcher, President of Life Dynamics, Inc., a national pro-life organization located in Denton, Texas, has documented that violence inflicted on pregnant women by pro-choice men who want their pregnancy aborted is nothing new.

Life Dynamics has collected data on a large volume of these cases and compiled the data in a report entitled, “Under-the-Radar Violence in the Conflict Over Abortion.”

Crutcher asks, “What happens when men use abortion as a sort of safety net? What do they do when the woman they’ve impregnated won’t jump into the net?

Crutcher warns women, “If he’s going to be pro-choice about your baby, he might be pro-choice about you.”

UnderTheRadar

The report points out that this kind of violence against women is not commonly reported by the media.

According to Crutcher, “In almost every incident in which women are told that they will be physically harmed unless they abort, they are going to comply, never tell anyone and, thus, fade into anonymity. For those who resist and end up on a stretcher or an autopsy table, they can expect to have their experiences hidden under a thick blanket of media deception. When we were able to obtain copies of police reports, indictments, court records or other similar documentation for these cases, they would almost universally show that when a perpetrator is confronted by an unwanted pregnancy, his first response is not violence but a demand that his partner have an abortion. When violence ensues, it is inevitably a reaction to her refusal to comply. However, the media’s coverage of these incidents often contains no mention of abortion. Instead, they either portray women who are attacked for refusing to have abortions as women who are attacked for getting pregnant, or they characterize the incident as one of simple “domestic violence” in which the victim’s pregnancy is basically inconsequential.”

Life Dynamics also documents that the abortion lobby is aware of how common this problem is:

NAF

Crutcher states, “Over the years, we have acquired tape recordings of National Abortion Federation (NAF) conventions in which discussions about women being forced to have abortions were held. The prevailing attitude expressed in these sessions may best be described as one of “convenient indifference.” Attendees will acknowledge the problem’s existence and talk about it in disapproving tones, while making it clear that they feel no obligation to let it influence the way they deal with these women. Their philosophical position seems to be that, even if a woman chooses to have an abortion she doesn’t want because of threats from others, it remains within the “pro-choice” purview since she was still the one who ultimately made the decision. In fact, on the NAF tapes mentioned above, some abortion clinic employees can be heard paraphrasing this very argument and using it to justify their habit of looking the other way. It is a truly bizarre rationalization analogous to saying that women who submit to sexual relations at the point of a gun are not really being raped since, technically, they are consenting.”

“At the clinic level, there are also two additional considerations. First, those who provide abortions have a financial interest in the woman’s decision. If she aborts a profit is made, if she doesn’t a profit is lost. This remains true whether free-will or force was driving her decision. The abortion industry may not approve of women being bludgeoned or killed for refusing to have abortions. But they have made it clear that they are willing to write-off these women as just collateral damage in the war to keep abortion legal.”

Crutcher concludes by pointing out that the early feminists who wrote the equal rights amendment were opposed to the legalization of abortion because of how it would ultimately affect women. “What these early feminist leaders understood is that legalized abortion does not advance the cause of womens’ equality but is, instead, a safety net for sexually predatory and sexually irresponsible males. They were warning that, in practice, legalized abortion would become a mechanism for these kinds of men to avoid any commitments to the women whose bodies they use or any responsibility for the children they father. Regrettably, that is what we see being played out in front of us today.”

Man Hired Hitman to kill Pregnant Girlfriend over Abortion Refusal, Pro-life group says violence is nothing new

Shamari Jenkins was a few months pregnant on April 29 when she was shot and killed while driving in Hartford, Connecticut. Her unborn son was also killed.

The man who allegedly shot her was Matthew Hall-Davis, a friend of her boyfriend – 21-year-old Carlton ‘CJ’ Bryan, who was in the car with his girlfriend when the shooting happened.

But in a surprising turn in the case, Bryan may have actually been behind the shooting, according to court documents released Friday.

Apparently Bryan had asked Jenkins to get an abortion, and she refused. He told a friend that she was ‘trying to ruin his life and he wanted her killed.’

Bryan ‘begged’ Hall-Davis to shoot his 20-year-old girlfriend, according to his arrest warrant. Apparently he ‘wanted to stay with…his other girlfriend,’ Hall-Davis told the police.

The warrant goes on the explain the plan Bryan and Hall-Davis had for carrying out the murder.

Another recent example which received national attention was the arrest and indictment of a Florida man who tricked his pregnant girlfriend into taking abortion pills to abort her pregnancy. Authorities say that 28-year-old John Andrew Welden did not want to be a father, so when his girlfriend, Remee Jo Lee, got pregnant, Welden faked a prescription for an abortion pill, switched a label so the medication appeared to be a common antibiotic, and gave her the drug.
