As employees speak out, Planned Parenthood’s mask begins to crack

A new phenomenon appears to be taking place at Planned Parenthood. In what was a shock to many, in 2018, political activist president Cecile Richards suddenly announced her resignation, followed by that of VP Dawn Laguens and VP of Communications, Kevin Griffis, among others. Planned Parenthood hired ER doctor Leana Wen — who has called abortion “health care” — to replace Richards, and vowed that abortion will be its focus in 2019. But at the same time, employees of the so-called “women’s rights organization” are spilling long-held secrets and exposing inner workings and toxic attitudes of the organization, founded 100 years ago by eugenicist Margaret Sanger. While these revelations might come as a surprise to pro-choicers, pro-lifers know that the organization’s roots have been rotten since its inception.

Lower level staffers revolt against Planned Parenthood’s corporate greed

While Planned Parenthood as a corporation was busy raking in millions in excess revenue over the past several years, its staffers claim it failed to pay them a decent wage. As a result, Planned Parenthood employees began unionizing. A report from In These Times claims Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains (PPRM) employees first began organizing in 2016, and it was the sixth local affiliate to do so. “In at least two of these cases, the local employer was accused of attempting to squelch worker organizing,” the media outlet reported.

But why did PPRM employees attempt to unionize?

Their key issues included wages—according to the union, the median annual wage for PPRM employees is $35,000, which is at the low end of the median range for health workers given by the Bureau of Labor Statistics—high staff turnover and prohibitively high costs of adding family members to employee health insurance.”

When employees spoke out, staffers claim Planned Parenthood intimidated them.

Suzanne Thorp, who has worked for PPRM since 2013, claims PPRM revoked her ticket to a fundraiser out of fear she would encourage donors not to use their dollars for anti-union efforts. A June 2018 post published on the Facebook page of the PPRM Union Bargaining Team claims the organization called the police after Thorp showed up outside the event. The abortion corporation later denied the claim.

Another alleged staffer wrote about Planned Parenthood’s fight against unionizing on Instagram: “Friends – today is my last day working for Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains…. PPRM’s management have only pushed back in order to keep us from accessing our basic employee rights…. I’ve given the last two years of my life to this cause that I love so much and to see my colleagues bullied like this by the agency they have worked so hard for breaks my f**king heart…”

Grim added in another tweet, “I know @CecileRichards is gone but really is this the new regime? Affiliates spending ‘up to a million dollars’ to block union efforts.”

Employees publicly complain about shoddy treatment 

In addition to low wages, one PPRM staffer took to Twitter to reveal that Planned Parenthood even looked down on employees for taking their rightfully earned work breaks:

“Solstice Fairy” added in another tweet, “Stop shouting ‘SELF CARE!!!!’ at us when we say we need a moment to pee or drink or eat. Taking a lunch break is not self care. It is a federally mandated right of employees working more than 6 hours in a day….”

Other review make it clear that patients are herded through like cattle, stating that “they schedule you patients every 10 minutes.”

Planned Parenthood appears to be rotting from within as staffers expose the organization’s hypocrisy. The most recent example occurred when Planned Parenthood whistleblowers told the New York Times the abysmal way the organization discriminates against pregnant employees.

Prior to that report, Live Action News revealed that Planned Parenthood insiders in Nashville exposed how the corporation’s leaders were prioritizing profits over care, something pro-lifers have known for years.

A brief history: Planned Parenthood’s push for abortion always wins over actual health care

Prioritizing profits over care isn’t new for Planned Parenthood. Years after founder Margaret Sanger died, Alan F. Guttmacher, a physician and former VP of the Eugenics Society, took the reins. Guttmacher was obsessed with population control and led the corporation to become an abortion vendor. Later, Faye Wattleton, an African American woman, was appointed president (chosen, many believe, to quell suspicion of eugenics among the Black community), who doubled down on promoting abortion. Years later, president Pamela Maraldo attempted to tone down the abortion emphasis with an effort to reinvent the corporation into a health care organization, but was ousted by pro-abortion zealots on the inside.

Planned Parenthood eventually appointed Cecile Richards, who had no health care experience, to supervise the surge of abortions, tax dollars, excess revenue, and CEO salaries — all while Planned Parenthood’s actual health services and clients plummeted. Richards’ goal was to build the abortion corporation into the largest “kick butt political organization” to reinforce Planned Parenthood’s political laundering scheme. She presided over numerous scandals, accusations of fraudthe cover-up of child sexual abuse, and much more.

What is emerging today is a truer picture of Planned Parenthood as its image begins to show cracks, even in the way it treats employees and patients. It has for too long masqueraded as a health care organization while tragically ending the lives of over 320,000 preborn children each year by abortion.

Abortion industry pushes for more minority abortions in TV and movies

Going hand in hand with Planned Parenthood’s announcement that abortion would be its number one focus in 2019 come plans to promote abortion as normal in movies and TV. This effort to change the so-called “stigma” that surrounds abortion by “working with content creators on honest and authentic portrayals of abortion in film and television” will include creating more portrayals of “women of color (WOC)” obtaining abortions — something that should raise the eyebrows of anyone who knows about the eugenic history of Planned Parenthood.

The move comes as women of color are experiencing declining abortion rates.

Planned Parenthood’s former “special affiliate,” the Guttmacher Institute, found that “Black women had the highest abortion rate in 2014 (27.1 abortions per 1,000 women of reproductive age) and white women had the lowest rate (10 per 1,000). Between 2008 and 2014, women of color experienced the steepest abortion rate declines: Rates fell 32%–39% among Hispanic and black women and those who identified with a race other than black or white, compared with a 14% decline among white women.”

“We’ll be enhancing our efforts to destigmatize abortion in the media and across popular culture — including working with the music, fashion, movie, and television industries, and announcing additional public awareness campaigns in the coming months,” wrote the nation’s largest abortion corporation. To that end, Planned Parenthood has a full time “director of arts and entertainment engagement.” Director Caren Spruch’s job, according to her LinkedIn page, is to advance “sexual and reproductive health and rights through pop culture.”

Planned Parenthood’s eugenic agenda was driven by founder Margaret Sanger who strategically worked to convince the Black community to control its population through her infamous “Negro Project.” Sanger is still viewed as a hero by the abortion industry, despite her admission that she met with members of the Ku Klux Klan, advocated eugenics, and supported the use of sterilization to rid the planet of the “unfit.”

Like Sanger’s Negro Project, a review of a 92-page report from the Tara Health Foundation, a philanthropic effort that funds abortion facilities and efforts, reveals an abortion industry insider strategy to promote abortion among Women of Color — namely, “… specific demographic groups (18-19 year olds, Black [WOC] and Hispanic women, and low-income women) that lag behind the national average in their rates of contraceptive use….”

The report includes statistics and analysis from “ANSIRH, the Guttmacher Institute, Ibis Reproductive Health, and the Kaiser Family Foundation.” All of these organizations are heavily involved with abortion. TARA’s founder, Ruth Shaber, previously held research positions at Kaiser Permanente and serves on the Medical Advisory Committee for Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Guttmacher’s founder was a eugenicist that helped mold Planned Parenthood into an abortion vendor. The organization is the former “special affiliate” and research arm of Planned Parenthood.

To monitor this goal, the Abortion On Screen program database was created by Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health (ANSIRH). This group was founded by a board member of the National Abortion Federation who was a medical director and staff physician at Planned Parenthood facilities in California, and it publishes workbooks on abortion training. In the group’s database of abortion in TV and movies, unsurprisingly, “Plotlines in which a character considers but does not have an abortion… are not included….”

At InStyle.com, Gretchen Sisson, Ph.D, ANSIRH sociologist and lead researcher, lamented:

TV often shapes our views of the world…. Women of color and women who are mothers are dramatically under-represented… characters tend to get abortions for self-focused reasons… barriers to accessing abortion are either non-existent or easily overcome…. All of these misrepresentations shape what people know and believe about abortion. They could be doing better.

…[O]ur 2015 report found that nearly 90% of television characters getting abortions were white, the finding that almost half of this year’s plot lines in which a character obtained or disclosed an abortion included black women represents the beginning of a corrective course toward more inclusive storytelling — even as Latina characters remain underrepresented. As the majority of American women who have abortions are women of color, it is essential that their stories are told… if we are to capture the current reality of abortion in our country.

ANSIRH celebrated momentum behind Black abortion portrayals:

2018 marked an important moment in fictional abortion stories on television: a shift towards highlighting the nuanced experiences of women of color, more specifically Black women. This year, we identified 18 plotlines where a character has an abortion, discloses a past abortion, or considers getting an abortion. Of those, four of the five characters who obtained an abortion in the course of the plotline were either Black or biracial women.

A recent survey by the Guttmacher Institute discovered that — in their words — “being black,” among other reasons, contributed to women having multiple abortions.

The report found that Black women had a higher rate of prior abortions: “Slightly more than half of Black abortion patients had a prior abortion (54%), higher than any other racial and ethnic group.”

If the overall Black abortion rate is already disproportionately high, strategies like this will likely force that rate even higher. Is this the outcome wanted by the abortion industry? We can only speculate.

Report: Planned Parenthood discriminated against pregnant employees

Planned Parenthood staffers are exposing the organization’s abysmal treatment and discrimination against its pregnant employees. The details, published by the New York Times in a stunning exposé, reveal that Planned Parenthood “employers saw accommodating expecting mothers as expensive and inconvenient. Others were unsympathetic to workers seeking special treatment.”

“A dozen lawsuits filed against Planned Parenthood clinics in federal and state courts since 2013 accused managers of denying workers rest periods, lunch breaks or overtime pay, or retaliating against them for taking medical leave,” the New York Times states.

The shocking report reveals how negatively Planned Parenthood viewed pregnant staffers.

The former human resources manager, who requested anonymity, said that executives assumed that when a pregnant worker brought in a doctor’s note, it was an excuse to work less. People who took sick days were perceived as lacking commitment.

The Times spoke to more than a dozen current and former staffers and organizers of the Office and Professional Employees International Union, which accused the abortion corporation “of sidelining, ousting or otherwise handicapping pregnant employees,” and found that:

  • Managers discriminated against pregnant women and new mothers.
  • A pregnant PP staffer was fired weeks after giving birth. Another fired the day she returned from maternity leave.
  • Managers ignored a pregnant staffer’s doctor’s note recommending frequent breaks, asked her to delay maternity leave, and pressured her to return back early. Others had to work long hours with few breaks.
  • Managers declined to hire pregnant job candidates.
  • Supervisors openly debated whether candidates were likely to get pregnant in future, preferring those who were not.

According to current and former employees in California, Texas, North Carolina, and New York, “[M]anagers in some locations declined to hire pregnant job candidates, refused requests by expecting mothers to take breaks and in some cases pushed them out of their jobs after they gave birth,” in clear violation of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), which “provides certain employees with up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave per year.”

Planned Parenthood reportedly “declined to hire one pregnant woman and to promote one new mother.”

A former hiring manager at a Planned Parenthood in California said that when internal promotions came up, supervisors openly debated whether candidates were likely to get pregnant in the near future and preferred those who were not…The former manager said her colleagues felt they couldn’t afford to promote someone only to lose them for several weeks.

Under the Pregnancy Discrimination Act (PDA):

  • An employer cannot refuse to hire a woman because of her pregnancy related condition as long as she is able to perform the major functions of her job. An employer cannot refuse to hire her because of its prejudices against pregnant workers….
  • [A]n employer that allows temporarily disabled employees to take disability leave or leave without pay must allow an employee who is temporarily disabled due to pregnancy to do the same.
  • Employers must hold open a job for a pregnancy related absence the same length of time that jobs are held open for employees on sick or temporary disability leave.
  • If an employee is temporarily unable to perform her job due to pregnancy, the employer must treat her the same as any other temporarily disabled employee…
  • [I]mpairments resulting from pregnancy (for example, gestational diabetes) may be disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)…

The Act also…

  • [F]orbids discrimination based on pregnancy when it comes to any other aspect of employment, including pay, job assignments, promotions, layoffs, training, fringe benefits, firing, and any other term or condition of employment.

Despite many documented abuses, including pregnancy discrimination, Planned Parenthood is granted over $500 million a year in taxpayer subsidies, millions of which flow from the Federal Title X family planning program.

Those Title X requirements state:

Grantees and sub-recipients are obligated to establish and maintain personnel policies that comply with applicable Federal and State requirements, including Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the annual appropriations language. These policies should include, but are not to be limited to, staff recruitment, selection, performance evaluation, promotion, termination, compensation, benefits, and grievance procedures.

Right on cue, when asked about this behavior, Planned Parenthood leadership either denied the validity of a particular claim or stated that it was “investigating the allegations.” This is a common response the abortion corporation employs with abortion-friendly media, a strategy exposed seen after Live Action caught Planned Parenthood lying about retraining staffers following an undercover investigation.

Planned Parenthood masquerades as a women’s health care organization, yet despite netting large profits, it appears from Wen’s statement above that Planned Parenthood has thus far not offered its pregnant employees paid maternity leave.

As a result, staffers like Marissa Hamilton, employed at a Colorado Planned Parenthood, created a Go Fund Me page due to “financial strain” after her baby was born prematurely.

Planned Parenthood’s leadership allegedly looked down on pregnant employees who were reportedly “scared to tell managers they were pregnant.” In desperation, one employee pretended “they were not planning on having children or were gay or single.”

Live Action News has previously documented the discrimination accusation of a former Planned Parenthood employee alleging that her employer made it difficult for her to take medical leave when she was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Planned Parenthood settled that case out of court.

Live Action’s investigations have exposed the true face of Planned Parenthood and recently revealed that abortion, not prenatal care, is the primary “service” Planned Parenthood offers to pregnant patients. Is it any wonder that an organization which profits from ending the lives of over 320,000 preborn babies every year by abortion would treat pregnant staffers so poorly?

Taxpayer-funded Planned Parenthood hiring director to push for activist judges

Taxpayer-funded Planned Parenthood is seeking to hire staff to push for activist, pro-abortion judges in the hopes that abortion without restrictions will be upheld at any cost. Though the American public holds an unfavorable view of abortion on demand, Planned Parenthood has looked to the courts to protect abortion since the Supreme Court legalized it nationwide in 1973. Now, the nation’s largest abortion business sees cracks developing in that protective wall.

Three weeks ago, during the Supreme Court confirmation hearings of Brett Kavanaugh, Planned Parenthood posted a job opening for a Judicial Nominations Director. Could this indicate that the abortion corporation is worried?

Planned Parenthood Federation of America posted this ad to its LinkedIn pageIndeed.com, and Daybook jobs. It reads, “Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) seeks a dynamic and effective Director, Judicial Nominations who will report to the National Director of Legislative Affairs in the Office of the Vice President of Policy and Government Relations.” That person, according to LinkedIn, happens to be Dana Singiser, who was added to PPFA’s team while working in the Obama White House in 2011. According to the announcement, Singiser is deeply entrenched in Democrat party politics.

Notice that the job posting doesn’t mention abortion; however, just as in the case of Brett Kavanaugh, that’s what judicial fights are really about for Planned Parenthood.

What exactly will a Judicial Nominations Director do for Planned Parenthood?

According to the posting, “The Director will… be responsible for executing a strategic, intense campaign that educates members of the Senate on the harmful records of nominees, elevates for Planned Parenthood supporters and affiliates what is at stake for reproductive health and rights.”

In addition, Planned Parenthood’s Judicial Nominations Director will be responsible to “[l]ead in-depth research in consultation with Litigation & Law including review and analysis of nominee’s case law and writings; interrogation of nominee’s personal and professional beliefs, associations, and memberships; as well as general opposition research in order to identify each nominee’s vulnerabilities and be able to drive a cohesive national narrative that informs in-state target Senator campaigns.”

“Interrogation of nominee’s personal and professional beliefs….” Interesting.

Planned Parenthood masquerades as a healthcare organization; yet, as Live Action News has previously reported, the organization’s former CEO, Cecile Richards, openly stated that it aimed to be “the largest kick-butt political organization.”

Planned Parenthood’s own figures indicate that while profitable abortions are on a steady decline nationally, it holds nearly 35 percent of the abortion market share.

In addition, almost every year since 2000, Planned Parenthood’s revenue has exceeded its expenses by tens of millions of dollars (yearly surpluses range from $12.2 million in 2001 to a high of $155.5 million in 2010). And yet, it still receives half a billion dollars from taxpayers annually.

To help maintain its growing abortion market share and tax funding, Planned Parenthood’s Judicial Nominations Director will work to:

  • [C]reate a clear path for defeat and delay of targeted nominations.
  • [E]xecute in-state 360 campaigns that hold Senators accountable for appointing judges that value and protect access to abortion.
  • Create grassroots strategies that build movement and leverage the Planned Parenthood base to link the importance of judicial nomination fights to the security of the issues we value.
  • Develop tactics that tie harmful nominees to cross-movement issues, to the overall Trump agenda, and to the consequences of lifetime appointments of extremist judges to the future of progressive rights.

This organization’s idea of a “harmful nominee” would be any judicial originalist who vows to look at the case and judge the merits against the original intent of the U.S. Constitution rather than some perceived right, like abortion on demand, not stated in the document.

Planned Parenthood receives over $500 million dollars a year from taxpayers, yet despite its dwindling health services and customer base, it is invested in placing radical activists on the court who will continue to force Americans to fund and uphold its abortion empire, while striking down any and all abortion restrictions.

Planned Parenthood has been embroiled in multiple scandals: accusations of fraud and abuse of taxpayer dollars like those given to it through Medicaid; failure to report child sexual abuse despite it being required to do so to receive Title X funding; referral for an FBI investigation into the illegal selling of aborted baby body parts — and the list goes on. Yet, with its half a billion in tax dollars yearly, it is clear that the abortion corporation’s influence over judicial nominations at the local and federal levels would only serve to benefit its own abortion business.

Planned Parenthood’s political organizer president Cecile Richards recently expressed concern about accusations brought by women claiming to have been sexually harassed by men in power. While these accusations and admissions are greatly concerning, it seems Richards has overlooked her own back yard, so to speak. Plenty of Planned Parenthood employees have had their own share of troubles in this arena.

CALIFORNIA

Jorge Martin-Santana

According to Sacramento Superior Court records, Jorge Humberto Martin Santana was arrested in 2013 and charged with one count of misdemeanor sexual battery, under criminal code PC 243.4(E)(1), which reads in part:A California jury found a Planned Parenthood medical assistant guilty of misdemeanor sexual battery after inappropriately touching a patient during the course of his duties at Planned Parenthood.

Any person who touches an intimate part of another person, if the touching is against the will of the person touched, and is for the specific purpose of sexual arousal, sexual gratification, or sexual abuse, is guilty of misdemeanor sexual battery…

In February of 2015, Martin-Santana pleaded “not guilty,” but on April 9, 2015, he was sentenced to 140 days in a sheriff’s work project and three years of probation.

DELAWARE

Timothy Liveright Planned Parenthood abortionist accused of sexual harassment

In 2013, Planned Parenthood RN Jayne Mitchell-Werbrich, who worked at Planned Parenthood Delaware’s Dover and Wilmington clinics, told blogger Jill Stanek that abortionist Timothy Fouch Liveright had sexually harassed employees and patients.

“I have noted Dr. Liveright inappropriately look up and down patients as well as staff members in a sexual kind of way. He actually stands back with a grin and slowly directs his eyes up and down a patient’s body.”In 2013, Planned Parenthood RN Jayne Mitchell-Werbrich, who worked at Planned Parenthood Delaware’s Dover and Wilmington clinics, told blogger Jill Stanek that abortionist Timothy Fouch Liveright had sexually harassed employees and patients.

Jayne resigned from Planned Parenthood after her letters of complaint to management were ignored. The nurse also said she observed Liveright “acting condescending to African American patients by implying they were ignorant,” among other charges.

Liveright worked for several Planned Parenthood locations.

A Delaware Medical Licensure complaint filed against Liveright claims Planned Parenthood reprimanded him for “unprofessional, disrespectful, and inappropriate” conduct, including “yelling, screaming, and cursing” in front of employees and patients and “sexual harassment of female employees.”

In 2013, media reported that Liveright surrendered his license to practice medicine in Delaware, but a November 2017 query reveals that Liveright’s Pennsylvania license is still active.

FLORIDA

In July 2008, the Miami Herald reported that Planned Parenthood’s national office cut ties with several Florida centers after accusations of “terrible mismanagement and possibly fraud,” including alleged sexual harassment against a former CEO:

The disaffiliation allowed the national organization to wash its hands of the local chapter once known as Planned Parenthood of South Palm Beach and Broward Counties.

The chapter is dealing with many problems, including harassment complaints and possible misuse of nearly $450,000 — slightly less than they received in public funding in 2005.

ILLINOIS

Several female patients claimed Illinois Planned Parenthood physician, Carl E. Burpo, “engaged in improper conduct during a gynecological examination” at Burpo’s office and at Planned Parenthood, where he worked part-time. He was eventually indicted on 21 counts of sexual misconduct.

One complaint alleged that Burpo fondled patients’ “breasts and in some cases made other sexual advances toward seven patients in 1990 and 1991 while examining them.”

A 1993 report states that Burpo was suspended from practicing at Planned Parenthood. A jury acquitted him in two of the cases but in February 1995, the Illinois Supreme Court reinstated eight of the criminal sexual assault charges.

His medical license was suspended in 1995.

MASSACHUSETTS

Roger Ian Hardy

Former Planned Parenthood abortionist Roger Ian Hardy was forced to surrender his Massachusetts medical license in January 2014, amid allegations that he sexually molested patients during fertility treatments at Fertility Centers of New England.

Operation Rescue notes, “Why Hardy eventually left Planned Parenthood is unknown, but a Boston Globe article published on May 1, 2014, indicates that Hardy’s abhorrent sexual misconduct stretched back as far as 20 years. Hardy was working for Planned Parenthood during that time, in which Planned Parenthood abortion patients were likely exposed to molestation by Hardy as well.”

MINNESOTA

In 1987, the Minnesota Board of Medical Examiners revoked the license of Hideo D. Mori for alleged sexual improprieties involving 10 patients over 23 years in Grand Meadow. A report states that administrative law judge Allan W. Klein found Mori had “inappropriately massaged some of his patients, telling one of them… that he needed to stimulate her genital area to fit her properly for a diaphragm.”

Klein wrote that Mori claimed to have romantic feelings toward the patient, caressing her body and kissing her to make her sexually aroused, understanding “that it was not medically indicated.”

NEW YORK

The NY State Department of Health accused Planned Parenthood of Rochester and Monroe County physician, Joseph L. Lizardi, of sexual misconduct, including sexually stimulating one patient and telling another she was pretty while touching her breasts.

According to the document, Lizardi was also accused of speaking with another patient in an “obscene, threatening and disparaging manner.”

OHIO

On December 29, 2004, 46 year-old Planned Parenthood volunteer, Jerry Steven Gonzales, was convicted of raping a 12-year-old boy, as well as unlawful sex with a minor and two counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving juveniles, for incidents with two 16-year-old boys. In addition, he was convicted of felonious assault for having sex with a 17-year-old boy and not telling the victim about his HIV status. The incidents occurred at Gonzales’ home in Ohio.

Police claim Gonzales pleaded guilty to a “similar, misdemeanor charge in Michigan in 1989 but was not required to register as a sex offender.”

Gonzalez worked as a volunteer at Planned Parenthood of North West Ohio’s HIV Outreach center until his arrest on October 12, 2004.

Gonzalez was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

TEXAS

Planned Parenthood CEO arrested for indecent exposure

According to the county clerk, the charges in Thornton’s case #2012-469-378 were dismissed on February 28, 2013, in the “interest of justice.”

In 2010, Thornton helped Planned Parenthood purchase a closed facility — renamed Planned Parenthood Women’s Health Center, Inc. — after the owners retired.

2. In 2005, Planned Parenthood employee Aymara Castro said Planned Parenthood of Houston and Southeast Texas subjected her to “unlawful sexual harassment, and to disparate terms, conditions and privileges of employment because of her sex.” She won her claim, filed with Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), which found Planned Parenthood had “failed to take corrective action to stop the harassment and retaliated against her for engaging in protected activity.”

WASHINGTON STATE

1. In 2008, former abortionist for Planned Parenthood of Columbia-Willamette, George Elliott Kabacy, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Tacoma, WA, for possession of child pornography. Kabacy was not practicing at Planned Parenthood at the time of his December 2006 arrest. According to the US Attorney’s office:

Kabacy admitted in his plea agreement that he knowingly possessed more than 8,000 images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Kabacy also admits to possessing videos of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, both on his computer and on 36 compact disks. Some of the images depict children under the age of 12. Kabacy admitted that he communicated with other people over the Internet, expressing his interest in having sex with minors and exchanging more than 40 images of child pornography with these other people over the Internet.

Kabacy’s OregonWashington State and California medical licenses were later revoked. 

2. Douglas Attig was accused by authorities of inappropriate, sexually oriented comments and contact with patients.

The commission’s statement of charges alleges that Attig repeatedly spanked, kissed and hugged a patient, also sending her “copious amounts” of inappropriate and suggestive e-mail.

The complaint, filed in 2000, does not state where the incidents occurred. While there is no indication the assaults occurred at Planned Parenthood, news reports show that the organization admitted Attig occasionally committed abortions for them after he was targeted by an explosive device in 2001.The commission’s statement of charges alleges that Attig repeatedly spanked, kissed and hugged a patient, also sending her “copious amounts” of inappropriate and suggestive e-mail.

On July 13, 2001, the Board suspended Attig’s license but issued a stay allowing him to continue to practice on a probationary term.

Many additional troubling actions by Planned Parenthood have been documented, including a failure to report child sexual abuse. Reports also show that victims of sex trafficking are sometimes taken to Planned Parenthood centers for forced abortions by their pimps.

Planned Parenthood staffer charged with felony embezzlement

A fired Planned Parenthood staffer has been charged with felony embezzlement in Oklahoma County District Court, according to a local media outlet. Kelly Lee Smith, 38, worked at Planned Parenthood’s first facility in the state to offer abortions, located in Warr Acres. A report published by Newsok.com said the abortion staffer was arrested October 11, 2017, after she allegedly used a Planned Parenthood credit card to buy lingerie, hotel rooms, amusement park attractions, and a cruise.

Authorities allege that between May and August of 2017, Smith fraudulently charged over $23,000 across nine states and Mexico. According to NewsOk.com, Planned Parenthood fired Smith on August 28. The paper reported that additional unauthorized credit card charges by Smith included clothing, pet supplies, beauty products, waxing services, electronics, pedicures, home decor, child care, and fast food, according to the affidavit.

Police reported Smith embezzled an additional $2,424 in cash that was supposed to be deposited into the Planned Parenthood bank account, the paper added.

Smith is not the first Planned Parenthood staffer to be accused of theft.

In July of 2013, a Planned Parenthood employee who worked as the organization’s accountant pled guilty to second-degree grand larceny after stealing over $100,000 from the organization.  WIVP reported at the time, that between August 2012 and March 2013, 44-year-old Melissa Kwoka forged checks from Planned Parenthood of Western New York to herself and her husband, according to a criminal accusation by the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.

According to the Buffalo News, Kwoka was originally sentenced to six years in jail and five years probation on the contingency that she repay $102,733 to the abortion corporation. The paper reports that, “The judge ordered her to make monthly payments for 10 years of $647.78 to Planned Parenthood to cover $77,733 of the stolen amount. The judge also ordered $208.33 monthly payments to M&T Bank, where the checks were drawn, to cover $25,000 the bank paid Planned Parenthood for failing to catch a portion of the thefts.”

However, after failing to abide by the terms and pay the stolen funds back, in June of 2015, Kwoka was sentenced to three years in prison.

Why this thief was hired by Planned Parenthood, which receives over half a billion dollars from the taxpayer each year, is a mystery to begin with. Live Action News previously reported that Kwoka had three previous convictions for theft offenses before her employment with the abortion business. In addition, Kwoka was accused of stealing over five hundred dollars from a friend’s bank account while on bail after her embezzlement conviction.

David Nova

In 2011, a Planned Parenthood executive in Virginia was jailed on charges he stole wine from a Roanoke county store. David Nova, vice president of Planned Parenthood Health Systems in Roanoke, was charged with three counts of petty larceny. According to Roanoke.com, which reported the story at the time, “The charges stem from bottles of wine Nova took through a self-checkout line at the Cave Spring Kroger. The incidents occurred on two separate dates in January, according to online court records.”

According to a report published by Life News, Nova claimed to have reported the incident to police after the “pimp” left his facility:

On February 4, David Nova, vice president for Planned Parenthood Health Systems Inc, told the News Virginian that ‘police were notified after the man left.’

‘The employees on these edited tapes in Roanoke and Charlottesville acted professionally in their interactions with the fake patient,’ Nova said in a released statement. ‘In both cases, they promptly reported the incidents to their supervisors.’

But FOIA’d documents obtained later by Live Action indicate that this was not true.

For his crime, Nova was ordered by a judge to serve three weekends in the Roanoke County Jail. But, according to media reports, the charges were dismissed after Nova completed his jail time. Nova’s attorney called his arrest “personal” and said it has nothing to do with his job.

In 2004, Nova, then CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Blue Ridge received Planned Parenthood’s “Jimmy Award,” to “help advance the Vision for 2025 by rewarding bold and creative thinking.”

A newsletter published by Planned Parenthood Health Systems since the incident indicates that this did not affect his standing with Planned Parenthood. In fact, Nova’s LinkedIn page currently shows that he is employed as VP of Communications and Strategic Initiatives for Planned Parenthood Health Systems, Inc., although the page may not have been updated.

In 2008, a Rhode Island ABC affiliate reported that the 59-year-old CEO of a Planned Parenthood in that state had been caught shoplifting at the Warwick Mall.

Planned Parenthood of Rhode Island President and CEO Miriam Inocencio, a veteran of the organization, was caught by police after allegedly stealing an $89 Liz Claiborne blouse from the local Macy’s Department Store, the report claimed.

990 filed by Planned Parenthood of Rhode Island in 2010 shows that the former CEO earned nearly $100,000 in salary and compensation in 2008.

Inocencio’s LinkedIn page reveals that she served as President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Rhode Island from 1997 to 2008. She previously worked at Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s International division from 1984 to 1992.

The Planned Parenthood president pleaded out in court and agreed to reimburse the store. Inocencio told the media that she later voluntary resigned from Planned Parenthood but added that she was proud of what she accomplished during her 13 years as their director.

Planned Parenthood CEO Theft

In 2002, Inocencio, a black Cuban-American woman, indicated that she was originally hired by the abortion business because of her ethnicity.

In a piece she penned to Non-profit Quarterly, Inocencio wrote that prior to Planned Parenthood hiring her in the mid-1990’s, the staff at the Rhode Island Planned Parenthood was overwhelmingly white.

“For many years the PPRI staff and board had, with few exceptions, remained overwhelmingly white and middle-class and almost exclusively English speaking,” she said.

Inocencio added that “pressure from external systems […] along with other motivations resulted in the board’s decision to hire a CEO of color, and this made for a relatively smooth transition to a multicultural organization.”

What those “other motivations” were was not specified but as Live Action News has well documented, Planned Parenthood’s founder Margaret Sanger made sure that Planned Parenthood was knee deep in eugenics. And, the organization’s ties to eugenics continued far beyond their founder, as Live Action News previously documented.

Today, with the help of Planned Parenthood, abortion disproportionately affects minority Black and Hispanic communities.

In contrast to Planned Parenthood staffers who are involved in theft, former Planned Parenthood whistleblowers have exposed the abortion corporation’s own trouble with numbers by accusing the tax-funded organization of Medicaid fraud. And, as Live Action News has documented, Planned Parenthood has been cited in several states for overbilling abuses and Medicaid fraud. In addition, Planned Parenthood has been cited for violating patient privacy and has been exposed for failing to report child sexual abuse.
