She assisted her husband who took the lives of babies, but now Pearl Gosnell wants to “get her life back.”

The wife of Kermit Gosnell, Pearl, worked in the procedure room according to the Grand Jury Report. Pearl now feels she’s left “holding the bag” after Kermit shamed the family, turned down a plea deal that would have kept her out of prison, and refused to speak at his murder trial, her lawyer said Tuesday. “You can tell from the arrogance that he displayed — turning down the deal, as well as refusing to speak — he’s left her holding the bag in terms of talking to the public and apologizing,” defense lawyer Michael Medway told The Associated Press. “Her name is still Gosnell, unfortunately,” he added. “I guess it’s like being Mrs. Frankenstein.”

Medway will ask for probation so his client can “get her life back.”

*Pearl Gosnell, helped out in the office. Pearl assisted with abortion procedures on Sundays and days the clinic was normally closed. She worked at the clinic as a full-time medical assistant from 1982 until she married Gosnell in 1990. After that, she said, she worked there “maybe every other day,” bringing “paper towels, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, soap.” On Sundays, she assisted in the procedure room and monitored the patients in the recovery room. Pearl claimed that she was certified to take temperatures and blood pressure by Lyons Technical Institute, but could not produce any records because, she said, the school had closed. She is licensed in cosmetology.

Pearl Gosnell, 51, has spent two years on house arrest and could be sent to prison Wednesday for racketeering and performing an illegal abortion. Her husband, Dr. Kermit Gosnell, had turned down a plea offer that would have let her keep their house and stay home on probation with their teenage daughter.

Gosnell was convicted of three counts of 1st degree murder for the deaths of three babies born alive during abortions.

Jurors were stunned over some of the graphic details in the case.

Medway says Pearl Gosnell is remorseful for what happened.

“It’s not that she didn’t know, she didn’t know to the extent about what was really going on,” Medway said.

Pearl Gosnell’s attorney says the case has put a strain on the couples’ daughter who is in high school and their 20-year-old son who is thinking of changing his last name.
