Pro-life response to New York Times call to censor anti-abortion message

New York Times writer calls for Facebook to censor pro-life message

New York Times (NYT) writer Rossalyn Warren is calling for Facebook to censor pro-life news sites like Live Action News and Life News. In an opinion piece entitled, “Facebook Is Ignoring Anti-Abortion Fake News,” Warren failed to publish any credible research which would rebut a single story published by these two entities, but still thinks they need to be censored, based on her own personal bias.

The NYT describes Warren as a “journalist” but in this case, it is obvious that her pro-abortion bias has overruled everything else. Warren writes, “So far, Facebook and the public have focused almost solely on politics and Russian interference in the United States election. What they haven’t addressed is the vast amount of misinformation and evidenced stories about reproductive rights, science and health.”

To clarify, what Warren means by “reproductive rights” is abortion; what she means by “science and health” is not the truth about when life begins, when a preborn baby’s heartbeat can be detected, or any actual science about the development of the baby or the harm effects of abortion on women. No, that is conveniently ignored by pro-abortion apologists like Warren. Apparently, in an opinion piece, one doesn’t have to any present facts.

Rossalyn Warren wants to censor pro-life news (image: Twitter)

The only reasoning Warren offers for censoring pro-life outlets is the fact that Live Action recently ran a series of articles on the documentary film Hush, made by pro-choice filmmaker Punam Kumar Gill, who refused to blindly believe what she was told about the harmful effects of abortion; instead, the film documents her investigation of the claims about a link between abortion and breast cancer. Warren failed to dispute in any way the film’s research, which was heavily sourced.

To Warren, Gill’s research is “fake news” — yet Warren offers absolutely no proof whatsoever for her conclusion. Yet, ironically, in her piece, Warren criticizes a 2016 blog story on late-term abortions for “failing to cite any sources or studies.”

Warren believes pro-life news sites (already being censored by Twitter) should now be censored by Facebook because they are ideologically driven (as if her views are not):

However, the incentive for the people who write content for anti-abortion news sites and Facebook pages is ideological, not financial. Anti-abortion, anti-science content isn’t being written by spammers hoping to make money, but by ordinary people who are driven by religious or political beliefs. Their aim isn’t to profit from ads. It’s to convince readers of their viewpoint: that abortion is morally wrong….

Well, it’s hard not to view this as morally wrong, once you’ve seen it:

Warren’s use of the term “anti-abortion” is interesting, and reveals Warren’s own ideology herself — as does her Facebook page

Here is Warren “lov[ing]” Polish women who strike against their country’s abortion ban:

Rossalyn Warren loves women who support abortion (image: Facebook)

And here is Warren when Victoria (in Australia) voted to limit protests outside abortion clinics, calling it “amazing news”:

Rossalyn Warren favors limiting abortion protests

To Warren, it’s a “big deal for access to abortion”:

Rossalyn Warren favors abortion rights

Here is Warren sharing a post from ideologically driven Think Progress, a left-wing news site that is radically in support of abortion. Warren clearly takes the pro-abortion position. (No calls from Warren for Facebook to censor Think Progress, by the way.)

Rossalyn Warren shares ThinkProgress’ pro-abortion post

And finally, Warren seems to think “more people need to see” an image of a woman who supports the nation’s largest abortion corporation, Planned Parenthood.

Warren, while failing to state her own pro-abortion bias, wants readers to think she is actually concerned about “fake news.” But she gives herself away when she explains why she thinks Facebook should censor pro-life speech. It’s because, as she says, pro-life sites “dominate the conversation about reproductive rights on Facebook” with what she calls “dodgy studies and scaremongering” which she believes is “drowning out people’s access to credible, researched reporting on abortion.”

“Credible, researched reporting” on abortion? Apparently only groups that agree with Warren are considered credible — groups that promote abortion and are absolutely ideologically driven (though they agree with her). If Warren is truly concerned about ideologically driven “fake news,” as she calls it, then surely she should urge Facebook to censor other ideologically driven sites like Media Matters (where her sources originate), Think Progress, Rewire, or Guttmacher — a former “special affiliate” to abortion corporation Planned Parenthood. If we’re going to censor ideologically driven outlets, we may be censoring almost everything.

Warren insists, “These [pro-life] sites produce vast amounts of misinformation,” she claims, while admitting she got her information from the pro-abortion site Media Matters. She complains (emphasis added), “… stories [from pro-life sources] often generate more engagement than the content produced by mainstream news organizations, said Sharon Kann, the program director for abortion rights and reproductive health at Media Matters, a watchdog group.”

While Warren railed against pro-life news sites for using (in her words) “thinly sourced stories,” she did exactly the same thing, using a claim from pro-abortion staff member Sharon Kann at Media Matters as “evidence” of her claims. According to Kann’s LinkedIn page, the Media Matters “researcher” volunteered for two abortion facilities: Planned Parenthood South Atlantic and the Emma Goldman Clinic. So she’s hardly unbiased. But that doesn’t seem to matter to Warren.

Rossalyn Warren attacks pro-life news sites in NYT

As you can see, Warren omits the fact that the videos (and their claims) posted by Live Action were actually made by an independent filmmaker, not Live Action; she says none of this, deliberately misleading readers.

Sharon Kann volunterred at Planned Parenthood abortion clinic (image: LinkedIn)

According to Kann (the abortion facility volunteer), “People on Facebook engage with anti-abortion content more than abortion-rights content at a “disproportionate rate…” And there’s Warren’s real problem.

In the minds of people like Warren and those at Media Matters, which openly admits it is a “progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media,” you’re only credible if you hold a favorable view of abortion.

But Media Matters, founded by David Brock, described by Politico as “the self-described reformed right-wing hitman who became a key figure in Hillary Clinton’s unsuccessful presidential campaign,” is not impartial. Brock openly supported Hillary Clinton for president and has been described as “a prominent strategist with a web of liberal groups.” His secret meetings have included representatives from several pro-abortion groups, such as “Stephanie Schriock of Emily’s List, Cecile Richards of Planned Parenthood, and Ilyse Hogue of NARAL Pro-Choice.”

Rossalyn Warren (image: Twitter)

Brock’s strategy for defeating his foes includes pressuring Facebook and other social media outlets to “adjust its model to stem the flow of damaging fake news on its platform’s pages.” Brock’s document claims that “journalists” like Ms. Warren will “weaponize our research products to… take action against… the extremists seeking to manipulate it.”

Warren believes that you and I should not have a say in which news we choose to read. Instead, “credible articles about abortion” should only come from “reputable news outlets like the New York Times….” But the “credible” New York Times isn’t so credible. NYT, among other media outlets, reported (without question) Planned Parenthood’s deceptive claims that they would retrain staffers after they were caught offering assistance to an undercover actor posing as a sex trafficker.

It was Live Action News — not Ms. Warren or the NYT — which documented how a Planned Parenthood insider revealed that Planned Parenthood’s “retraining” never happened. And it was Live Action News which also documented how Planned Parenthood’s lied about contacting local authorities about suspected sex traffickers — while the NYT and other outlets never bothered to fact-check.

Warren’s claim that pro-life news receives a higher view rate is not sourced, but if it is true, the reason is simple: people are trending more pro-life, and Warren is bothered by that, so she and her allies resort to cries for censorship — not of their own, ideologically driven “fake news,” but of news they don’t agree with.

Glitter bombs sent to pro-life offices across the country by abortion supporters

Posted in Glitter Bomb, pro-choice violence with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on March 16, 2015 by saynsumthn

A series of glitter bombs have been sent by abortion advocates to pro-life groups across the country.

The latest report comes from Life News in an e-mail message:

    Our office has been bombed!

No, we were not the victim of the kind of bombing you see on the nightly news that claims people’s lives and causes them to live in fear of terror. Instead, LifeNews has been the victim of pro-abortion glitter bombs.

Over the last few weeks, abortion activists have sent several glitter bomb letters to LifeNews, some with threatening messages. When our staff open the letters, glitter poured inside goes everywhere and makes a huge mess.

    medium_image-550b38554150502dac170100-coalesced

While these glitter bombs are insulting and intimidating rather than life-threatening — they contain an inspiring reminder: the pro-abortion side knows LifeNews is effective!

As the most-visited pro-life place on the Internet – with almost 20 million visitors already this year – abortion advocates know LifeNews is presenting the pro-life message to people around the world and giving them the tools to fight back against the culture of death.

The pro-abortion side knows we’re effective in promoting stories about the brave decisions parents are making every day to reject abortion, even in dire circumstances. The other side sees how we’re pushing back against their false arguments. And they know we’re helping pro-life groups pass pro-life bills to stop abortions!

Life News was talking about a number of other reported incidents where pro-life officers received what has been termed the pro-choice glitter bomb:

Earlier this month, the Daily Caller reported this incident at Rep. Jeff Fortenberry’s office:

glitter bomb for choice

A glitter bomb exploded all over the office of Republican Rep. Jeff Fortenberry’s Nebraska office Wednesday in a strikingly immature effort by abortion activists to protest his pro-life stance.

Congrats, you’ve earned this for trying to deny women their right to choice,” a note attached to the glitter bomb read. “Mind your own uterus.”

Fortenberry’s spokeswoman Jennifer Allen told the Omaha World-Herald that unusual mail to congressional offices is taken seriously because of the potential for actual threats.

Fortenberry’s office said the glitter bomb was reported to police, the U.S. postal inspector and the FBI, Allen said.

Rebecca Wall, whose Linkedin page says that she is the Digital Media Associate at NARAL Pro-Choice America posted this response on Twitter, “FIGHTING FOR OUR RIGHTS WITH STYLE.”

SFL Glitter Bomb

Last Month, Students for Life was the recipient of a glitter bomb to which they replied, “For all the great pro-life work we are doing, abortion advocates sent us glitterbombs. We could not be more excited! Always a great thing to be recognized for protecting life and even better when it includes glitter!

Pro-life Action League has also reported receiving these messages, posting two images on Facebook, “Another delivery at our office today from “Glitter Bombs for Choice.” This time around, they used LifeNews.com’s mailing address as the return address.”

On March 12, 2015, Nebraska Right to Life posted this:

Got our own “Glitter B… for Choice” . Fortunately could tell something was inside so glitter attack minimal. Carry on kids.”

Iowa RTL Glitter Bomb

March 13th, Iowa Right to Life posted this, “Today’s mail brought TWO MORE Glitter-Bombs!! (Four this week!) Those “Glitter-Bombers for Choice” LOVE us obviously. One was mailed out of Nebraska and another one from Oregon. These “gifts” also included tiny metal coat hangers and sweet “love notes.”

Woot! And so we carry on for the lives of the born and unborn!”

An interesting piece published by Priceonomics spells out the history of the so-called tactic using examples all geared toward perceived Conservative individuals or groups. , writing of a glitter-bomb attack on Newt Gingrich in 2011, “25-year-old equal rights activist Nick Espinosa christened “glitter bombing,” a form of protest (political or otherwise) in which public figures are doused in a shimmering shower of copolymer plastics.”

They continued:

Nick Espinosa, the activist who’d started the trend by peppering Gingrich, became the revolution’s unofficial spokesman; in a Huff Post editorial, he clarified its intentions:

I am not willing to sit back and watch the right wing systematically dehumanize and strip group after group of their rights….We are standing up against those who have dehumanized, divided and conquered. We are finding creative and fun ways to expose hatred and bigotry.

The strength of glitter is that humor is an incredibly powerful tool for communicating a message — even a deadly serious one. We use humor to give hope to ourselves and each other, while contrasting our approach with the hateful and cruel attacks on our communities.

As long as politicians continue [this trend], they can expect the sparkly showers to continue.”

A 2011 rundown of the glitter-bomb incidents outlined by the AP at that time included:

On May 17, Gingrich and his wife, Callista, were showered with glitter at a book signing in Minneapolis. The perpetrator was Nick Espinosa, an activist and occasional political prankster who yelled at the former House speaker, “Stop the hate. Stop the anti-gay politics.”
On June 16, two activists from the left-wing group CodePink dumped glitter on Pawlenty while he was signing books at a health insurance conference in San Francisco. Before being led away, the activists berated the former Minnesota governor for his conservative views on gay rights and abortion.
On June 18, an activist flung glitter toward Bachmann just after the Minnesota congresswoman finished a speech at a conservative conference in Minneapolis. The activist, Rachel Lang, said afterward that she was protesting Bachmann’s “hateful and anti-gay rhetoric.”

Espinosa has not been implicated in the recent glitter attacks, however, he once told Edge Boston this about his targeting of so-called anti-gay Conservatives , “It’s almost laughable that people like Glenn Beck and Mike Huckabee claim that glitter is assault,” Espinosa mused. “I would laugh if they weren’t assaulting people’s humanity on a daily basis, and if their constant inflammatory rhetoric didn’t produce real violence in the form of the attacks we’ve seen from abortion clinics in the U.S. to summer camps in Norway.

“The fact that they get so upset over something as fabulous as glitter just goes to show that their hateful views are heading towards extinction as a new generation shows its power — we are winning.”

Espinosa told Feministting, “I think that as a man, I need to speak out against patriarchy, and hold my community accountable. As a person who constantly benefits from a society in which my gender is privileged, I see it as my responsibility to act as an ally to women, as part of a lifelong movement toward our collective liberation. I don’t think that women should have to be the ones bringing feminist issues up. They’re not just women’s issues, but basic issues of equality and justice, and as long as we live in a world where women are oppressed, none of us are free. I would also like to see the feminist movement grow out of what has sometimes been a largely white and middle class movement into one that’s more inclusive of women of color and women from the developing world. I think it’s crucial that we see the intersectionality of our oppressions, and build movements that reflect that and build power for all of us.”

A Report by the UK’s Globe and Mail reveals how sending Glitter Bombs to “your enemies” has become a business for some:

Planned Parenthood Ice Cream

After I blogged about the Oregon Ice Cream Parlor- What’s the Scoop – creating a flavor for abortion giant Planned Parenthood – and said that the flavor was not called Blood and Scream – the story was picked up by Life News where it went national.

Other pro-life news blogs like Jill Stanek picked up the story here.

Abortion Giant thanks What’s the Scoop ice cream shop for their support

Posted in Planned Parenthood Event, Planned Parenthood fundraisers with tags , , , , , , , on July 24, 2014 by saynsumthn

After this blog exposed the Ice Cream Fundraiser by What’s the Scoop ice scream shop, the media went nuts.

Whats The Scoop Ice ScreamWTS7_vcjvsb

The ice cream shop, owned by Jodie Ostrovsky , held a fundraiser for Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon which they advertised on their facebook page:

PP Oregon Ice Cream

What’s the Scoop promised to create a special flavor for Planned Parenthood.

After the event was exposed the shop’s owner claimed she was receiving a ton of calls and negative posts on the Whats the Scoop facebook page.

Whats the Scoop flavors

And the media went nuts….pro-abortion media outlets like the Huffington Post blames the backlash on the fact that we called the new flavor : BLOOD and SCREAM. That was picked up by Life News who reported the story as well:

PP HuffPO Ice Cream story 3405_5916649760902142123_n

Whats the Scoop’s owner responded to the controversy by stating, “ We’re proud to have supported Planned Parenthood, because they provide a much-needed service to women in our community and all over the country.”

Following all the flack, Planned Parenthood posted this thank you to What’s the Scoop on their facebook page:

Apparently What’s the Scoop is happy that they helped finance the death of children which Planned Parenthood aborts. Children who might have been future customers of their ice cream parlor ! Shameful !

LifeNews to NAACP: We Won’t Stop Reporting Your Pro-Abortion Position

Posted in NAACP with tags , , , , , on July 15, 2014 by saynsumthn

The online media outlet, LifeNews has issued a response to the NAACP after they sent a threatening letter attempting to intimidate LifeNews and pressure them to stop reporting on its long-standing pro-abortion position and opposition to pro-life legislation to protect black babies from abortion.

LifeNews8_1070353287_n

According to LifeNews:

In February, the NAACP threatened to sue LifeNews.com and Ryan Bomberger, a LifeNews blogger , for a column that took the civil rights organization to task over its abortion position. The NAACP is upset about a column Bomberger wrote at LifeNews titled, “NAACP: National Association for the Abortion of Colored People,” which notes the organization’s 44th Annual Image Awards.

Following the piece, the NAACP sent Bomberger, the director of the Radiance Foundation, and LifeNews a threatening letter claiming infringement on its name and logo for including it in the opinion column. Eventually the NAACP dropped LifeNews from its attempt to silence Bomberger’s pro-life reporting.

In a departure from centuries of case law defending the right to free speech, U.S. District Court Judge Raymond Jackson issued a ridiculous order essentially denying Bomberger’s free speech and preventing him from writing, producing or saying anything criticizing the NAACP over its pro-abortion position.

Not content to stifle Bomberger’s free speech and even though the lawsuit is not final — Bomberger is appealing the decision to stand up for his free speech — the NAACP is now threatening LifeNews again.

The venerable civil rights group sent LifeNews a threatening letter promising legal action and threatening to sue LifeNews for monetary damages for keeping Bomberger’s story online at LifeNews. The NAACP is also upset that LifeNews exposed its opposition to a pro-life bill in Arizona that bans raced-based abortions. In other words, the top civil rights organization in the country that ostensibly is supposed to protect black Americans is opposed to a bill that prevents abortions on babies specifically because they’re African-American!

The NAACP alleges LifeNews is in violation of the court order silencing Bomberger and revoking his free speech.

Unless we receive, by no later than the close of business on Friday, June 13, 2014, your written confirmation that you have [removed these two articles from the LifeNews web site] we intend to bring the matter before the court,” the NAACP threatens in its letter. “We will ask the Court to hold you and organization in contempt … and award NAACP monetary sanctions and other relief.”

Today, LifeNews’ attorney, Michael Norton of Alliance Defending Freedom, issued a response essentially saying the NAACP has no legal leg on which to stand in its threats against LifeNews.

While LifeNews.com was not made a party by your client to this litigation and is therefore not privy to any litigation decisions which either have been or may be made by Radiance or Mr. Bomberger, we understand that both the district court’s decision and this Permanent Injunction have been appealed,” the letter responds. “Thus, its finality is in doubt.

Norton tells the NAACP that “we know of no evidence (and you have presented no admissible evidence) that supports your client’s assertion that LifeNews.com has” violated the court order against Bomberger. “Thus, we know of no good faith factual or legal basis that would, should the threats in your June 6, 2014 letter be carried out, support your client’s claims against LifeNews.com, even assuming that the Permanent Injunction stands following appeal and/or can be legally applied to LifeNews.com.”

The letter promises that if the NAACP “elects to proceed with litigation against LifeNews.com, you may be sure that we will vigorously defend LifeNews.com’s First Amendment speech and press rights and request an award of attorneys’ fees to LifeNews.com.”

Regarding the NAACP’s effort to silence LifeNews, “[Your effort] is without merit and is denied,” the letter concludes.

Black man says NAACP s/b sued for impersonating org that “advances blacks”

Here is one example:
