Gov. Rick Perry links Texas abortion law to death of Joan Rivers

Rick Perry Governor Rick Perry maintains that that the state of Texas has a right to implement safety rules for abortion clinics, “Clearly, the will of the Texas Legislature — which I agree with — that it is a state’s right to put particular types of considerations into place, to put rules and regulations into place, to make a clinic be as safe as a hospital,” Perry stated.

Pointing to the risks that clinics can pose generally, Perry has asked whether the “clinic” where Joan Rivers was treated had the same safety standards in it saying that she might still be alive.

“It was interesting that, when Joan Rivers, and the procedure that she had done where she died, that was a clinic. It’s a curious thought that if they had had that type of regulations in place, whether or not that individual would be still alive,” said the Texas Governor stated in an interview at the Texas Tribune Festival.

Rivers stopped breathing during a procedure on her vocal cords. The exact circumstances of her death are still unclear, but we do know that the Yorkville Endoscopy Center where Rivers was treated actually is an ambulatory surgery center.

Actually , despite the media hype on the comments made by Perry, he wasn’t the first to sound the alarm about the dangers of clinics and surgery.

In fact, when you remove abortion from the mix, you see what the definition of a safe surgical center should be.

When Joan Rivers was first reported as hospitalization because she was not breathing Dr. Nancy Snyderman, NBC News’ chief medical editor, discussed the risks of surgery,on The Today Show, telling the viewers to “make sure YOUR DOCTOR HAS ADMITTING PRIVILEGES TO THE LOCAL HOSPITAL.

But, apparently that advise does not extend to Texas where the state legislature is embattled in court to enforce such a law for abortion clinics in the state.

Nancy Sniderman

Sometimes, the medicine used to sedate someone. The age of which someone is receiving he medications, and sometimes just putting the scope down can trigger and event where a person stops breathing…”, Dr. Nancy Snyderman said, “The really important thing here is that every time you think your are going to have surgery NO MATTER HOW MINOR [ emphasis mine] you have to constantly remind yourself that these things are rare – they can happen. And one more thing I should say, make sure YOUR DOCTOR HAS ADMITTING PRIVILEGES TO THE LOCAL HOSPITAL, because in this case in may well have saved Joan Rivers’ life.”

CONTRADICTION:

The state of Texas and others states around the nation have passed laws requiring abortion doctors to have Hospital admitting privileges within a close range of the abortion clinics they operate. This is in part, because many abortionists fly-in and are not even from the same state where they perform the surgeries.

Yet- Planned Parenthood and all abortion providers are saying that these laws are “extreme.”

We have learned from past examples that if a women dies from a legal abortion the left in this nation says little to improve or scrutinize the condition of the abortion clinic where the surgery occurred. You see, in the world of abortion, the death of women is considered collateral damage only.

The response, unlike that of Joan Rivers, is generally – mov’n on….nothing to see here.

NBC’s medical expert: make sure doctors have hospital admitting privileges

The news has been a buzz about the hospitalization of actor/ comedian Joan Rivers. Apparently Ms Rivers was undergoing a simple surgery when she was taken to the hospital because she was not breathing.

In response, Dr. Nancy Snyderman, NBC News’ chief medical editor, discussed the risks of surgery, major or minor on The Today Show:

Well…isn’t that interesting. Joan Rivers’ doctor having hospital admitting privileges may have saved her life but…when a woman has an abortion we are not to expect the same level of care?

As you know the state of Texas and others states around the nation have passed laws requiring abortion doctors to have Hospital admitting privileges within a close range of the abortion clinics they operate. This is in part, because many abortionists fly-in and are not even from the same state where they perform the surgeries.

Yet- Planned Parenthood and all abortion providers are saying that these laws are “extreme.” A direct result is that abortion clinics are closing in states like Texas because the clinics do not employ doctors who can take care of women if they have to be hospitalized.

In light of this controversy, lets re-read Dr. Nancy Snyderman’s warning, “The really important thing here is that every time you think your are going to have surgery NO MATTER HOW MINOR [ emphasis mine] you have to constantly remind yourself that these things are rare – they can happen. And one more thing I should say, make sure YOUR DOCTOR HAS ADMITTING PRIVILEGES TO THE LOCAL HOSPITAL, because in this case in may well have saved Joan Rivers’ life.

So, I have to wonder..why is it that the pro-abortion left believes that some women deserve protection from the risks of surgery and others do not? After all, after learning that a doctor having privileges at a local hospital may have saved Joan Rivers’ life, requiring abortion doctors to have hospital admitting privileges doesn’t sound so extreme to me.

Joan Rivers, “My mother tried to have an abortion”

Joan Rivers was on the Late Night with Seth Meyers show Monday night talking about her new book “A Diary of a Mad Diva

During the show she began to talk about her family. When she brought up her mother’s abortion attempt a nervous Seth Meyers interrupted Rivers with laughter and pointed out that the show is a comedy.

My parents were not good to me. My mother tried to have an abortion, I was 12 and I remember…[interrupted laughter]..,” Rivers said.

Its not clear if Rivers was being serious about the abortion or not – I suppose you will have to get the book to find out.

In any event, Abortion is a serious issue which takes the life of an unborn child and should not be something you joke about.
