Texas governor Greg Abbott sent out a tweet congratulating the Houston Astros who were up 6 to 2 over the Kansas City Royals in the eighth inning – just six outs away from advancing to the league championship series.

The Tweet stated, “Congratulations to the Astros on advancing,” causing the hashtag #AbbottCurse started trending on the social media site.

From the Houston Chronicle:

Shortly after the tweet – which was quickly deleted – the Kansas City Royals rallied for five runs in the eighth inning to take the lead.

Abbott has two Twitter profiles – both verified by Twitter. One of them – @GregAbbott_TX – is his billed as “Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s Personal Twitter Feed.” The other – @GovAbbott – is for “official news from the Office of Texas Governor Greg Abbott.” The latter sent the jinx-filled tweet.

He later sent this:

Hey @Astros fans. Unfollow –> @GovAbbott. Follow the REAL Greg Abbott right here. No predictions. Just support.

To show his humor in it all, after the Democrat Debate, Abbott tweeted this about Hillary Clinton:

“I don’t believe in curses or jinks. But just in case they really work: Congratulations @HillaryClinton.”

ABbott jinxes Hillary

Hillary is a radical pro-abortion liberal who supports Planned Parenthood despite being caught on undercover video from the Center for Medical Progress selling the organs of babies they abort.

She also praised Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood. Sanger was a known racist who gave Klan speeches and was a proud member of the American Eugenics Society known for the forced sterilization of many Black men and women.

The Dallas Morning News reported : Texas Democratic fundraising revived
08/08/2010 Associated Press

The financial success of Democratic gubernatorial nominee Bill White has revealed a new generation of wealthy contributors who are stepping forward to back Texas Democratic candidates.

Carrett Boone, founder of The Container Store chain, and wife Cecilia have donated more than $700,000 to Democratic candidates and allied groups in the past two years. Namoi Aberly, a former Neiman Marcus executive and former chairwoman of Planned Parenthood of North Texas, has donated more than $200,000. Houston trial lawyers Amber and Steve Mostyn, both 39, have donated $3 million to Democratic candidates this campaign cycle.

The Planned Parenthood Action Fund, the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, announced the addition of five members to its Board of Directors. One of the new members — is Naomi Aberly, (the others: Joanne Egerman, Irma Esparza, Minyon Moore, and Michael Vachon )

Naomi Aberly has been active in more than a dozen civic and political organizations, including Obama for America and Annie’s List. She is a fundraiser for Democratic candidates at all levels. She currently serves on the board of Planned Parenthood of North Texas and is the current chair of their capital campaign, and she is a former board member of the Texas Association of Planned Parenthood Affiliates.

According to BarackObama.com she was on the 2008 OBAMA PRESIDENTIAL NATIONAL FINANCE COMMITTEE

Capitol Inside reports that Naomi Aberly – As the chairman of the board at Annie’s List and one of the group’s largest donors, Aberly oversees a group that’s contributed more money to Democratic candidates in Texas in recent years than any organization that’s not funded exclusively by trial lawyers. Annie’s List has played a key role in electing a significant number of Democratic candidates who are women to legislative and local offices – and Aberly is a big reason why the group has had so much cash to spend since its inception in 2003. Aberly, who’s donated several hundred thousand dollars to the Texas Democratic Trust as well, is a Detroit native who moved to Dallas after graduating from Amherst College to take a job in the retail industry with Neiman Marcas. She gravitated into the political arena after going to work as a volunteer at the North Texas chapter of Planned Parenthood before eventually ascending to the job as the chairman of the non-profit group’s board of directors. She raised significant sums of money for Barack Obama and now she’s doing the same for Bill White in his campaign for governor.

The Heartbreaking Truce
by Mike Huckabee
I received an astonishing email today from a concerned friend who has been very influential in the fight to end the scourge of abortion.

Apparently, a 2012 Republican presidential prospect in an interview with a reporter has made the suggestion that the next President should call for a “truce” on social issues like abortion and traditional marriage to focus on fiscal problems.

In other words, stop fighting to end abortion and don’t make protecting traditional marriage a priority.

Let me be clear though, the issue of life and traditional marriage are not bargaining chips nor are they political issues. They are moral issues. I didn’t get involved in politics just to lower taxes and cut spending though I believe in both and have done it as a Governor. But I want to stay true to the basic premises of our civilization.

For those of us who have labored long and hard in the fight to educate the Democrats, voters, the media and even some Republicans on the importance of strong families, traditional marriage and life to our society, this is absolutely heartbreaking. And that one of our Republican “leaders” would suggest this truce, even more so. Governor Daniels is a personal friend and a terrific Governor, and I’m very disappointed that he would think that pro-life and pro-family activists would just lie down.

Are you ready to stop fighting for traditional marriage? I cannot. I will not.

Can you let the tragedy of abortion go unchecked while we get our financial house in order? I cannot. I will not.

A strong leader doesn’t need to focus myopically on one or two issues – but a strong leader is willing to fight for and defend their principles while rising to meet new challenges and solve all of the existing systemic problems confronting us.

For me these issues are critical. Indeed they are founding principles of my personal conservatism and part of the ideological foundation of the Republican Party.
