Girl Scouts Partner with Yankee Candles

Posted in Girl Scouts with tags , , , on February 2, 2015 by saynsumthn

“What could be more delicious than a candle that smells like your favorite Girl Scout Cookie?! As an official national licensee of Girl Scouts of the USA, it is with great pleasure that The Yankee Candle Company offers you our new line of Girl Scout Cookie™ Candles and Car Jars® (Air Fresheners). “

That is how Girl Scouts announced their partnership with Yankee Candles on their website.

“These are the perfect gift for troop leaders, cookie managers and Girl Scout volunteers” they say.

Girl Scouts is offering Yankee Candles in four scents: Thin Mint, Trefoils, Coconut Caramel Stripes (Samoas) and Chocolate Peanut Butter (Tagalongs).

Tankee Candles GS

Sadly, Girls Scouts is also offering one additional “scent” every time they partner with Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider.

It is the scent of babies dying – a scent no amount of PR can cover.

Our brand has always valued sharing experiences with friends and family,” said Geoff Medeiros, vice president brand and product development for The Yankee Candle Company, Inc. “We’re excited to offer consumers the chance to make memories with the beloved Girl Scout Cookies in a whole new way.”

Expanding the Girl Scout Cookie brand to candles is a natural fit,” said Barry Horowitz, chief merchandise officer at Girl Scouts of the USA. “We are bringing together two iconic American brands to create a consumer experience that engages the senses and helps tell the story of the Girl Scout Cookie Program, which helps turn today’s girls into tomorrow’s leaders in business, finance, and beyond.

Honestly, not all girls – not the unborn ones.

Girl Scouts threaten pro-life news source for exposing link to abortion giant Planned Parenthood

Posted in Girl Scouts with tags , , , , , on February 17, 2014 by saynsumthn

MemeCookiecottDuring the last two weeks, LifeNews has brought international attention to the link between the Girl Scouts and the Planned Parenthood abortion business and the national boycott of Girl Scouts cookies sponsored by pro-life groups.

The pro-life movement has been concerned for a number of years about the ties between the Girl Scouts and the Planned Parenthood abortion business. Although the Girl Scout organization maintains that it takes “no position” on the issue of abortion, parents, churches, and pro-life activists have long complained of the pro-abortion slant of the Girl Scouts’ resources, role models, and affiliations.

girlscouts5After a series of articles on the boycott and the Girl Scouts-Planned Parenthood link, that featured the Girl Scouts logo to identify the organization, Brian Crawford, an executive with Girl Scouts USA, wrote LifeNews a scathing letter attempting to intimidate us into stopping our reporting on their link and to no longer use their logo or image to identify them as we bring attention to their support for the nation’s biggest abortion business.

In his letter Crawford again denied any connection to Planned Parenthood and he complained about “articles that outline alleged ties to Planned Parenthood,” saying “GSUSA has an obligation to protect the Girl Scout name.”

“Girl Scouts of the USA does not have a partnership or any relationship with Planned Parenthood and does not plan to initiate one,” he claimed.

The letter “demands” that LifeNews no longer identify the Girl Scouts using Girl Scout logos as we report on its link to the abortion company that does approximately one-third of the abortions in the United States. The GSUSA letter lists a date by which LifeNews must guarantee the Girl Scouts it “will comply with our demand.”

Blacks oppose Girls Scout support of Racist founded Planned Parenthood

#Black Org on boycotting Girl Scouts for support of #PlannedParenthood

GirlScouts MemeCookiecott

Planned Parenthood is the nations largest abortion provider. In addition the organization as founded on eugenics and racism as has been well documented by this blog. Now, Black leaders are starting to expose the fact that the Girl Scouts support of Planned Parenthood is immoral because of both racism and abortion.

day gardner 2According to National Black Pro-life Union spokesperson, Day Gardner, “Today the Girl Scouts of the United States of America (GSUSA) continue to disappoint with its support of Planned Parenthood and others who support abortion. They may try to deny this, however, in 2004; the CEO of Girl Scouts USA, Kathy Cloninger stated on national television that, GSUSA partners with Planned Parenthood organizations across the country, “to bring information-based sex education programs to girls.”

Gardner continues, “According to a GSUSA spokeswoman Michelle Tompkins every local Girl Scout council is allowed to work with Planned Parenthood and confirms that some have relationships with the baby killing giant. (mark 3:45)”

“Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas, Girl Scouts Gateway Council and Girl Scouts of Western New York maintain close relationships with Planned Parenthood in coalitions or serve on committees which advocate for abortion and sex education.

Girl Scouts of Western New York works closely with Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion groups in programs aimed at early teen-aged girls.

Girl Scouts of Northern California refers “at risk” girls to Planned Parenthood for help with family planning.

The almost hilarious thing here–is that Planned Parenthood doesn’t “plan” parenthood. They are in the baby killing business, and killing the baby totally destroys all thoughts of parenting and demolishes hope for a family.

Planned Parenthood is being sued in Chicago for allowing 24 year old Tonya Reeves to bleed to death in 2012 after a botched abortion when a hospital was less than 2 miles away.

tonya-reaves-0722 “In 2002, 25-year-old Diana Lopez went to a Planned Parenthood clinic in Los Angeles for an abortion. Before the day was over, Ms. Lopez–like Ms. Reaves–had bled to death from a botched abortion.

09/20/03 | Color | 5star | | A17 | Metro | jcp 7185 | abortion004_mac.jpg “In 2003, 18-year-old Holly Patterson entered a Hayward, California Planned Parenthood clinic seeking a chemical abortion. She died seven days later of an incomplete abortion. There are hundreds of these stories!

Why would the Girl Scouts want to align their organization with Planned Parenthood which besides killing children — is also responsible for emotional distress and physical trauma in women — and in some cases the deaths of young women and girls?

The bottom line is that Girl Scout leadership today promotes an ideology that embraces sexual and reproductive choice to girls encouraging promiscuity and abortion. Mothers need to know this and so do the young girls who hoped to someday wear that spiffy green sash.”

Ryan_Scott_Bomberger_2Ryan Bomberger of the Radiance Foundation, “The Girl Scouts still proclaim to be honest and courageous, while denying their continual collaboration with the nation’s largest and undeniably dishonest abortion chain. Abortion doesn’t make the world a better place, unless you agree with the deeply racist and elitist pseudoscience of eugenics – the foundation of Planned Parenthood.”

alveda-kingAlveda King, niece of Martin Luther King Jr, “We continue to receive reports that the Girl Scouts continue to support pro-abortion advocacy groups and continue to teach our young girls promiscuity. You hate to think that it could be so; I know I do. Everyone loves their cookies, even if you don’t buy them because of weight issues, most everyone has tried them at one point or another. And although their cookies are good, the agenda of the Girl Scouts, at least at the National and International levels, is not good. It’s my understanding that each Girl Scouts Council gets to decide what they will do and what they will teach our girls. However, they don’t get to decide where that money from the sale of the cookies will go. In fact, of the $3.50 (cost of a box of cookies), the local troop only gets .59. The rest goes to other expenses and $1.89 goes to the Council to do with/partner with whoever they please. So before you purchase a box of cookies from a local Girl Scouts troop, find out what they teach their scouts and what the Council does with their portion of the money…Know the truth about the GSUSA and Planned Parenthood. ”

Pro-life Boycott of Girl Scouts Launched Over Abortion Support

Pro-Life Waco launches national boycott of Girl Scout cookie sales

GirlScouts MemeCookiecott

Waco, Texas As more and more examples of Girl Scouts of the United States of America’s (GSUSA) support and acclamation of abortion rights activists come to light, Pro Life Waco calls for a “Cookiecott” of the reported $700 million in Girl Scout cookies sold each year. The most recent outrage is GSUSA praise for Wendy Davis and Kathleen Sebelius as role models for girls. Both are adamantly pro-abortion—even for late-term abortions.

Over a dozen national pro-life organizations are supporting the boycott. Boycott participants are asked to give adults at cookie sales a flyer explaining why they are not purchasing cookies this year.

Radio ads (listen here) for the boycott begin to run on Thursday January 30 in Waco (KBBW), Plainview (KVOP), Temple (KTEM), Midland/Odessa (KCRS), and Navasota (KWBC).

John Pisciotta will direct this boycott for Pro-Life Waco as he did the Waco boycott of cookie sales in 2004. For that controversy, the local Girl Scout council sponsored a Planned Parenthood program for a decade and honored the executive director of the Planned Parenthood abortion facility with a “Woman of Distinction” award.

According to Pisciotta “The radio ad makes it clear that the catalyst prompting this boycott is the recent use of social media by GSUSA to promote Texas Senator Wendy Davis and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius as worthy role models for our children. Davis and Sebelius are notorious for their support of abortion on demand – including late-term abortion.”

“The Davis and Sebelius outrage is only the tip of the iceberg for the legitimate concerns about the Girl Scouts that have been brought to light over the last decade,” states Pro-Life Waco President John Pisciotta. As part of this effort, Pro-Life Waco is providing Cookiecott participants with an informational flier they can download and distribute to inform others of the many issues surrounding the Girl Scout organization.

Additional points of concern leading to this year’s Cookiecott include:

• GSUSA, with over 2 million girl members, maintains relationships with many pro-abortion advocacy groups.
• Girl Scout curriculum, sold and promoted by every local Girl Scout Council, commends pro-abortion organizations and individuals as role models.
• Across the country, local Girl Scout Councils honor and promote both abortion rights advocates and pro-abortion politicians.
• GSUSA is the largest member organization of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), making up a third of its 10 million members and paying approximately $1.5 million annually to WAGGGS. WAGGGS aggressively promotes youth reproductive, sexual, and abortion rights.

Pro-Life Waco is not alone in taking action regarding the Girl Scout concerns. Last month, Missouri Right to Life released an updated Policy Statement on Girl Scouts USA, urging citizens “to consider carefully whether to participate in Girl Scouts or support them in any way.”

Pro-Life Waco is a community-based organization. For nearly twenty years, Pro-Life Waco has been committed to ending abortion and promoting chastity.

Kelly File roundtable on controversy over Girl Scouts and Wendy Davis

Why Should You Be Concerned?

Girl Scouts USA (GSUSA) recently promoted pro-abortion politicians, Senator Wendy Davis and HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, as women to be honored for their accomplishments in 2013. Many other pro-life concerns exist about the Girl Scout organization including:

GSUSA, with over 2 million girl members, maintains relationships with many pro-abortion advocacy groups.

Girl Scouts’ curriculum for girls, sold and promoted by every local Girl Scout council, recommends pro-abortion role models/organizations such as Betty Friedan, Gloria Steinem, Geraldine Ferraro, Hillary Clinton, Amnesty International, Population Council, ACLU, National Organization For Women (NOW) and others.

GSUSA and local Girl Scout councils connect girls to resources promoting abortion rights and inappropriate sexual content via official Girl Scout social media accounts.

Across the country, local Girl Scout councils honor and promote abortion rights advocates and pro-abortion politicians; suggest girls work with organizations that fight for abortion on demand; and invite girls to attend events related to abortion rights advocacy and other controversial issues.

GSUSA is the largest member organization of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), making up one-third of its 10 million members worldwide and paying approximately 1.5 million dollars annually to WAGGGS based on the number of registered GSUSA members.

WAGGGS, which states that “anyone who is a Girl Guide or Girl Scout is automatically a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts,” aggressively promotes youth reproductive/abortion and sexual rights, specifically on behalf of its 10 million members.

RUSE: Say no to Girl Scout Cookies
Left-wing political agenda undermines girls, families

When our sweet little neighbor in her brown camp uniform came knocking on our door this year, we had to say no. I told her mother that I didn’t want to hurt Katie’s feelings, but I couldn’t support the Girl Scout cookie sale anymore because I’d learned too much about the organizers’ agenda, primarily their support for abortion and partnership with Planned Parenthood.

I worried that my “political” stand would cause uneasiness between us, but her response put me at ease: “Well,” she said, “they do use unpaid child labor to make their sales, and the troop only gets 10 percent of the revenues anyway.”

True. According to the Girl Scouts’ website, the lion’s share of the money goes not to the troop but to bureaucrats up the chain of command in multicounty councils. The national office gets a piece of the pie, too, in the form of royalties based on gross annual sales volume – about 200 million boxes per year.

It’s a sacrifice, because I love the cookies and the cuties who sell them, but enough is enough.

I remember the Girl Scouts being flaky way back in the early 1970s. When I was a Brownie, I was told to recite some chant and step over a mirror. If I had known the word, I would have called it “pagan.” Even an unchurched girl of 7 could smell a rat.

Last year, the Girl Scouts decided to admit boys who dress as girls. When asked to admit a cross-dressing 7-year-old boy, a Colorado troop leader demurred, explaining to his mother, with tact and irrefutable logic, that her son couldn’t be a Girl Scout because he has “boy parts.”

The troop leader was chastised by the mom as being insensitive and promptly was overruled by the Girl Scout top brass, who, in a statement said, “If a child identifies as a girl and the child’s family presents her as a girl, Girl Scouts of Colorado welcomes her as a Girl Scout.” Perpetuating this cruel charade on the little boy and forcing little girls to participate in it is “inclusiveness” to the Girl Scouts. To others, it’s child abuse.

But it shouldn’t be surprising: The Girl Scouts have a cross-dresser in the front office.

Ten years ago, Girl Scouts media relations officer Joshua Ackley was frontman for the “homopunk” band the Dead Betties. In publicity shots, he’s dressed in women’s clothing, and in music videos, he appears to be naked and feigning masturbation. The video for “Hellevator” portrays a woman being strangled in an elevator shaft while Mr. Ackley flashes a menacing grin.

Today he issues press releases, posts news and views on the Girl Scouts’ blog, and tries to mollify moms who are concerned about Girl Scout ties with Planned Parenthood. In fact, it was Mr. Ackley who facilitated the Girl Scouts’ “no adults allowed” workshop at the United Nations – the workshop in which the Planned Parenthood sex brochure “Healthy, Happy, and Hot” was offered, although part of Mr. Ackley’s job is to deny it.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if someone like Mr. Ackley was behind the Girl Scouts’ recent scandal: a guidebook that tells girls to check with the leftist, George Soros-funded Media Matters before believing what they read in the news.

As boys send in their orders for Brownie beanies and tights, the Girl Scouts have declared 2012 to be “The Year of the Girl,” announcing that they will be “working to break down societal barriers that prevent girls from leading in their own lives.” What barriers? What does “leading in their own lives” even mean? Forgive me for thinking it has something to do with sex or abortion.

Several years ago. a quarter of the Girl Scout councils nationwide admitted to partnering with Planned Parenthood, the nation’s abortion giant. When questioned about the affiliation on NBC’s “Today Show,” Girl Scout CEO Kathy Cloninger had no compunction in confirming it.

The Girl Scouts have been “pro-choice” for years, but now they’ve been caught supporting promiscuous sex for girls. The Planned Parenthood sex guide offered at that “girls only” U.N. meeting offered this advice on Page 11: “Some people have sex when they have been drinking alcohol or using drugs. This is your choice. … If you want to have sex and think you might get drunk or high, plan ahead by bringing condoms and lube or putting them close to where you usually have sex.”

Heard enough? There’s a lot more at

Earlier this month, a young Girl Scout employee, Renise Rodriguez, made the mistake of stopping by the office to do extra work on her own time in a T-shirt bearing the words: “Pray to End Abortion.” A supervisor ordered her to turn the shirt inside out or leave the office. She left, for good.

So should we all.

Girl Scouts “Dishonored” by Planned Parenthood?

Girl Scouts’ Stumble Boosts Christian-Based American Heritage Girls 3/30/2004
By Martha Kleder
Planned Parenthood connection raises questions about GSA’s priorities.

What started as a local boycott of Girl Scout cookies in Waco, Texas, has blossomed into a nationwide investigation into the connection between the Girl Scouts and Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider.

At the same time, the Christian-based American Heritage Girls (AHG) is picking up new members and troop leaders thanks to the controversy.

“We are Christ-centered, not spiritually principled (GSUSA’s words), and that makes a huge difference,” American Heritage Girls founder Patti Garibay told CWA. “Just since the article in the March 22, 2004, USA Today, we have had 800,000 hits to our Web site, over 400 requests for information through the Internet, along with countless phone calls to our office, and we have been dealing with this issue for several weeks before that story ran.”

Garibay added that AHG now has 2,800 girls enrolled and 450 volunteers across 22 states. Since this renewed attention on the Girl Scouts’ unwholesome alliances, Garibay says, Heritage has seen an increase in membership interest.

“We have 25 pending troops right now, and in just two days we have sent out 15 information kits. Those kits, which begin the troop charter process, have to be purchased, so that indicates serious interest,” she added.

But while those contacts are boosting AHG ranks, Garibay says they are far from joyful.

“We have also been doing a lot of counseling,” she added. “People are just heartbroken to learn of these activities between the Girl Scouts and Planned Parenthood. However, this is really nothing new.”

Girl Scouting’s secretive alliance

The alliance between the Girl Scouts and Planned Parenthood appeared at first to be limited to the Bluebonnet Council of Girl Scouts in central Texas. It has since been revealed that the close association is nationwide and reaches to the top of the Scouting organization.

Girl Scouts CEO Kathy Cloninger admitted on NBC’s Today Show that many troops have alliances with Planned Parenthood and that those relationships would continue.
Across the nation the alliances have taken many forms:

• In Waco, Texas, the Bluebonnet Council places the national Girl Scout logo on posters for Planned Parenthood of Central Texas’ annual summer sex-education seminar for fifth to ninth graders.
• That Council also gave a “woman of distinction” award last year to the executive director of Planned Parenthood of Central Texas.
• Nevada’s Frontier Council Web site advertised a March 20 feminist conference featuring Planned Parenthood President Gloria Feldt and a workshop on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered issues.
• In 2003 the Girl Scouts of Connecticut honored a Planned Parenthood official for her outstanding work in promoting “healthy practices” in local troops.
• The Girl Scout leadership manual gives visits to health clinics like Planned Parenthood as an acceptable option for Brownie troops. Brownies are for girls six to eight years old.
These are just a few of the ties uncovered by Jim Sedlak of Stop Planned Parenthood International (STOPP), an American Life League affiliate. On April 5, STOPP plans to release a report, available on-line, listing all 315 councils of Girl Scouts of the USA, and their affiliation with Planned Parenthood.

“The alliance between the two groups is definitely supported at the highest levels of Girl Scouting,” Ed Szymkowiak, STOPP’s national director, told CWA. “But one thing that has stood out in the investigation is just how local an issue this is. We have had councils that said they do not affiliate with Planned Parenthood, we have had councils that have refused to answer the question and still others have said they do not now, but will not rule out the possibility.”

“One council executive director told us that there is nothing prohibiting a local troop leader from initiating such a relationship, even if the area council has no connections to Planned Parenthood,” he added. “Parents really need to watch this issue on their local level.”

Similar dilemma sparked AHG’s founding

Controversy has followed the Girl Scouts for some time. The Cincinnati, Ohio-based American Heritage Girls was formed in 1995 after “flexibility” was adopted within the Girl Scout promise, allowing girls to replace the word “God” with concepts of their own choosing.

Garibay says that was just one of many changes she witnessed.

“This issue about ties between the Girl Scouts and Planned Parenthood is nothing new,” she said. “We saw the same thing 10 years ago in our area that the folks in Waco just discovered. To this day, the Girl Scouts continue to align themselves only with pro-abortion groups. So, I was not surprised when The Waco Tribune ran an article indicating that the Girl Scouts USA had not apologized for the affiliation, but simply backed away to end the bad press.”

Along with the abortion culture, the Girl Scouts also tacitly endorse lesbianism as an acceptable lifestyle.

“And it was in 1994 that then-Surgeon General Dr. Joycelyn Elders made positive comments about lesbian Girl Scout leaders,” Garibay added. “We regularly hear from folks across the country about lesbian activity within their local troops or regional councils.”Other efforts include a push to de-feminize the program by removing badges for all traditionally feminine or domestic-related pursuits and replacing them with career-focused activities.

The Girl Scouts have also taken steps to remove as many references to faith as possible from the program.

From the Girl Scouts of the USA Web page “Girl Scout Beliefs and Values,” the national organization makes clear that its chief value is a “spiritual”-based diversity. Leaders receive the following instructions:

• Even if your troop is all of one faith, the Girl Scout meeting is not an appropriate place for prayers and hymns. Girl Scouts is not a religious organization.
• Help girls to be sensitive to all spiritual beliefs when picking readings for ceremonies, or songs for around mealtime. The songs and readings chosen can celebrate similarities as well as differences in beliefs. Avoid references to “God” as being a specific deity.

“Prayer is now banned at Girl Scout meetings,” said Garibay. When I was a Scout, you would at least say a brief prayer of thanks before snack time, or sing Christmas carols in December, but not anymore.”

The purge of religion has been taken a step further, Garibay says. Even living out your own faith has become taboo.

“People are now being asked to step down as troop leaders because they, personally, are ‘too religious,’” she said.

American Heritage Girls: A growing option

“When developing American Heritage Girls, we wanted to make sure that Christian values would remain at the core,” Garibay said. “We took the advice of my friends in the Boy Scouts, and we stay away from all government or United Way funding. [Editor’s note: About 60 United Way chapters have withdrawn support of the Boy Scouts over the Scouts’ refusal to allow homosexual troop leaders or members.]

“We operate on a charter system, so that the chartering organization owns the troop. We charter to churches and Christian schools, so that the AHG troop operates just like any other ministry under their wing.

“We require that all troop leaders sign a statement of faith,” she added. “But the girls who attend are not required to. All girls are welcome.”
