MONTREAL, February 1, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The parents of a 14-year-old girl who died following Gardasil vaccinations provided by the Quebec government are suing the manufacture of the HPV vaccine, pharmaceutical giant Merck Frosst, as well as three doctors and a clinic, for $197,000.

Annabelle Morin died on December 9, 2008 after having received two doses of Gardasil under a program introduced by Quebec in September 2008.

Annabelle’s mother Linda said her daughter received the first shot at a clinic in October 2008, and that the teenager vomited, became confused and incoherent and was unable to speak or walk, according to a QMI Agency report.

Annabelle was taken to hospital where she was diagnosed with a migraine and sent home.

The lawsuit alleges that Annabelle received a second dose of Gardasil at her school on Nov. 24, 2008 and again became ill.

Two weeks later her parents found her dead in the bathtub.

“I was shocked. I didn’t know what to do,” Linda Morin told QMI Agency.

Judicial Watch Uncovers FDA Gardasil Records Detailing 26 New Reported Deaths
Other Adverse Reactions Include: Seizures, Paralysis, Blindness, Pancreatitis, Speech Problems and Short Term Memory Loss

WASHINGTON, Oct. 19, 2011 /Standard Newswire/ — Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it has received new documents from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), detailing reports of adverse reactions to the vaccination for human papillomavirus (HPV), Gardasil. The adverse reaction reports detail 26 new deaths reported between September 1, 2010 and September 15, 2011 as well as incidents of seizures, paralysis, blindness, pancreatitis, speech problems, short term memory loss and Guillain-Barré Syndrome. The documents come from the FDA’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) which is used by the FDA to monitor the safety of vaccines. The documents were obtained pursuant to a September 15, 2011 FOIA request for reports made from September 1, 2010 through September 15, 2011.

Adverse Gardasil events reported to the FDA include:
• The information was received from the patient’s mother…concerning her healthy 14 year old daughter who in August 2007, January 2008, and June 2008, was vaccinated with a first, second and third dose of GARDASIL…It was reported that the patient experienced several symptoms including numbness and tingling in her fingers and toes, fatigue, a really hard time falling asleep, urinary tract infections, ovarian cyst, moody, trouble getting out of bed and seizures. The patient had upwards of 150 seizures following her third shot in June 2008. During her seizures she stopped breathing for periods of 30 to 40 seconds. The patient was diagnosed with Neurocardiogenic syndrome and seizures. It was reported that the patient died due to ovarian cyst. The reporter felt that the patient’s symptoms were related to vaccination with GARDASIL.

• Additional information was received from a newspaper article concerning a 18 year old female…who on 10-MAY-2007 was vaccinated with GARDASIL…in the right arm…The patient who was a college freshman travelled on 05-OCT-2007 to visit her family for the weekend. The patient reportedly felt “slightly ill” upon her arrival and subsequently took an aspirin and went to bed awakening at 1:30 PM the following afternoon “appearing refreshed”. The patient became feverish again that night and woke at 1:00 AM the morning of 07-OCT-2007 with chills and a severe headache complaining that “my headache is about to explode”. The patient was taken to a local hospital, where a brain computed axial tomography (CAT) scan was performed and the brain revealed meningococcal disease in her brain and brain stem. The patient was immediately transferred to another hospital and died the evening of 07-OCT-2007 due to complications of meningitis.

• Information has been received from a physician regarding a 15 year old female who on 26-SEP-2007 was vaccinated with her second dose of GARDASIL for prevention of HPV…Thirty minutes after the vaccination, the patient experienced a headache and that night went home and slept until the next morning. The patient woke up the next day and went to school. The school nurse called the patient’s mother and informed her that the patient felt tingling in both hands. Later that day, the patient was again sent to the nurse’s office due to a shaking sensation all over. Later that evening, things became worse and the patient started crying from the pain and burning in her back. The patient was taken to the emergency room by her parents. In the emergency room, the patient collapsed and was not able to walk; she was paralyzed from the waist down. It was reported that the patient was hospitalized for two months.

In response to the concern about death reports among those who received Gardasil, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) insists that “there was no unusual pattern or clustering to the deaths that would suggest that they were caused by the vaccine.”
http://www.cdc.gov/vaccinesafety/vaccines/hpv/gardasil.html

“These reports raise additional concerns about Gardasil’s questionable safety and provide ample reason to end the push to give it young girls and boys. And the CDC’s continued caginess on reported deaths is disturbing,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “Federal, state, and local officials need to stop promoting this vaccine for children.”

In 2008, Judicial Watch launched an investigation of the FDA’s reporting on adverse reactions to vaccinations for HPV. All previous FDA documents uncovered by Judicial Watch, as well as a Judicial Watch special report, entitled “Examining the FDA’s HPV Vaccine Records: Detailing the Approval Process, Side-Effects, Safety Concerns & Marketing Practices of a Large Scale Health Experiment,” are available on Judicial Watch’s website,

Vaccine bill overrides parents on child health, By Rebecca Hagelin

The Washington Times

Culture Challenge of the Week: Government and Sex-pushers Versus Parents

Democratic California Gov. Jerry Brown has a ticking time bomb on his desk: He must sign a recently passed bill by Sunday for it to become law. His signature, however, would set an explosive precedent: The bill would allow children as young as 12 years old to give valid consent – without their parent’s knowledge or permission – to receive vaccines that aim to prevent sexually transmitted diseases.

The groups pushing the governor to sign the bill include the usual “reproductive rights” suspects: the ACLU, NARAL Pro-Choice California and Planned Parenthood, to name a few. Their justification for cutting parents out of the decision-making process is the usual tripe: When it comes to sex, parents cannot be trusted to act in their children’s best interests.

The bill meets an urgent need, says its sponsor, Assemblymember Toni Atkins (a lesbian, community organizer and longtime advocate for LGBT special privileges). She argues that letting individual parents decide whether their child should receive, for example, the HPV vaccine amounts to “playing Russian roulette with kids’ lives.” Why? Because random clinic workers, school nurses or pharmaceutical representatives surely stand in a better position than the child’s parents to judge whether – for that particular child – the benefits of receiving the vaccine outweigh the risks.

Watchdog group finds many deaths and hundreds of serious side effects linked to Gardasil

The FDA adverse event reports on the HPV vaccine read like a catalog of horrors. Any state or local government now beset by Merck’s lobbying campaigns to mandate this HPV vaccine for young girls ought to take a look at these adverse health reports.
-Tom Fitton

On June 8, 2006, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the drug Gardasil. Gardasil is a vaccine against certain types of human papilloma virus (HPV) which is the primary cause of cervical cancer in women.

* Several state and local governments have proposed requiring the vaccine for school girls entering the 6th grade.
* Gardasil is approved for girls as young as nine years old, despite the fact that the youngest girls participating in clinical trials were 11-12 years old.
* A recent study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, also questioned the general effectiveness of Gardasil. Additionally, there has not been a chance to study long term side effects of the vaccine.

Judicial Watch, concerned about the rush to market and mandate a drug with possible serious adverse effects, filed its first Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request on May 9, 2007, and received 1,637 adverse event reports on May 15, 2007. These reports are submitted to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) and used by the FDA to monitor the safety of vaccines.

On August 20, 2007 Judicial Watch filed a request for updated adverse event reports and received 1,824 reports on September, 13 2007. Judicial Watch then filed a complaint against the FDA on October 3, 2007 for failing to fully respond to the May 9, 2007 FOIA request.

Judicial Watch has posted links to the adverse event reports below and continues to monitor VAERS reports submitted to the FDA in relation to Gardasil.

This STD drug was supposed to help girls, not kill them …
19-year-old reported chest pain, nausea; died of ‘cardiac arrhythmia’

Posted: September 28, 2010
Worldnet Daily By Bob Unruh

The case report is terse about the 19-year-old woman who was given Gardasil, a vaccine intended to guard against a sexually transmitted disease, and reported, “Headache, nausea, dizziness, chilling, tiredness, shortness of breath, complained of chest pain, severe cramps.”

She died of “acute cardiac arrhythmia.” Said the report, “Attempts to resuscitate her resulted in a sternal fracture, but were unsuccessful and the patient died.”

That’s just one of the 16 new reports that have arrived since the middle of last year that document deaths linked to Gardasil.

“To say Gardasil has a suspect safety record is a big understatement. These reports are troubling and show that the FDA and other public-health authorities may be asleep at the switch,” said Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, the government watchdog organization that investigates and reports on government corruption.

“In the meantime, the public-relations push for Gardasil by Merck and politicians on Capitol Hill continues. No one should require this vaccine for young children,” Fitton said.

Judicial Watch launched a comprehensive investigation of Gardasil’s safety record in 2008 after the drug’s manufacturer, Merck & Co., began a major effort to lobby in state legislatures to impose requirements that girls be given their product. Eventually the Centers for Disease Control suggested the maker back off its campaign.

It was in 2008 when Judicial Watch obtained documents from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration documenting “anaphylactic shock,” “foaming at mouth,” “grand mal convulsion,” “coma” and “now paralyzed” descriptions of the complications from Gardasil. The drug is intended to address the sexually transmitted human papillomavirus, believed by researchers to be an indicator for future cases of cervical cancer. The company wanted it to be mandatory for all schoolgirls.

At that time, the organization’s work uncovered reports of about one death a month, bringing the total death toll from the drug to at least 18 and as many as 20 at that time. The new report documents that there have been at least another 16 fatalities in the months since, along with 789 “serious” reports of reactions submitted to the FDA. Two hundred thirteen of the cases in the most recent reporting period resulted in a permanent disability and 25 resulted in Guillian Barre Syndrome.

Meanwhile: PLANNED PARENTHOOD , the nation’s largest abortion clinic , is giving Gardasil shots to Boys as well as girls:

Missouri Boys Can Get HPV Shots At Clinics
July 22, 2010
ST. LOUIS, MO. – Clinics and health departments throughout Missouri are now offering a vaccine for males that was created to help protect females from certain sexually-associated diseases. Gardasil combats the Human papillomavirus (HPV), a common virus that can be passed during sexual contact and is the main cause of cervical cancer and genital warts.

Some parents don’t feel boys are at risk of getting HPV like girls, says Mary Kogut, vice president of patient services for Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region, which now offers the vaccine for males ages nine to 26. But, vaccinating boys will protect them and help stop the spread of HPV, she says.

Sex virus blamed for rise in head and neck cancers – may bring more forced HPV vaccinations
(Reuters) – The number of head and neck cancers linked to a virus spread by oral sex is rising rapidly and suggests boys as well as girls should be offered protection through vaccination, doctors said Friday.

4/1/2010

Despite an overall slight decline in head and neck cancers in recent years, cases of a particular form called oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) have increased sharply, particularly in the developed world.

This growth seems to be linked to cancers caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), scientists said in a report in the British Medical Journal.

Dead girl’s Mother keeping up her campaign against Gardasil

Lisa Schryver Ericzon’s daughter, Jessica F., died two years ago, and Ms. Ericzon says she believes the Gardasil vaccine was the cause. Ms. Ericzon, Omar, has spent the past two years researching the vaccine and connecting with other parents, in an effort to get her concerns about the vaccine heard.

“We’re getting along. We take it day by day,” Ms. Ericzon said. “I’ve done a lot of research since Jessie died. We cannot prove it, but it seems that there are way too many girls who have been injured or died after getting this vaccine.”

Ms. Ericzon returned home after work Feb. 22, 2008, to find Jessica, 17, dead on the bathroom floor. It was two days after receiving her third dose of Gardasil. Jessica had been complaining of pain in the back of her head since receiving the shot, Ms. Ericzon said.

She said she believes that Gardasil was to blame for Jessica’s death, and during her research on the vaccine, she has tried to contact agencies like the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to voice her concerns.

“Two out of every 1,000 men in the U.S. are diagnosed every year with genital warts, and about six million people in the U.S. are infected with HPV each year.”

While the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends Gardisil as part of routine vaccinations for all girls ages 11 to 12, it hasn’t yet made the same recommendation for young men, but the vaccine has been deemed safe by the Food and Drug Administration. Still, concerns over side effects in a small percentage of patients remain, the most serious of which include blood clots and Guillain-Barré syndrome, a disorder that causes muscle weakness and tingling that can lead to paralysis.

Kogut says the vaccine should be given before any sexual activity or exposure to HPV, since the drug only prevents, and cannot cure, HPV. However, that’s not always an option, she admits.

“Even if folks have started having sexual activity, teens and young adults, it’s important to consider getting the vaccine because it may still protect some of the types of HPV that are out there.”

The HPV vaccine is expensive and administered in three doses, but is offered at a reasonable price due to a patient assistance program from Merck and Co., the drug’s manufacturer.

Barbara Hollingsworth: Time for the truth about Gardasil
By: Barbara Hollingsworth
Local Opinion Editor
March 30, 2010

Cervical cancer accounts for less than 1 percent of all cancer deaths, so it was somewhat surprising when the U.S. Food and Drug Administration fast-tracked approval of Gardasil, a Merck vaccine targeting the human papilloma virus that causes the disease, in 2006.

As of Jan. 31, 2010, 49 unexplained deaths following Gardasil injections have been reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (http://vaers.hhs.gov/index). By contrast, 52 deaths are attributed to unintended acceleration in Toyotas, which triggered a $2 billion recall.

No recall for Gardasil, which is required for sixth-grade girls in D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and many other states. Parents can opt out, but few know the true risks.
That was the certainly the case for Mary Davison of Frederick, Md., whose three daughters had the second of a three-shot vaccination regimen in January 2008. Her two younger girls had no reactions, but 20-year-old Mary Katherine felt sick and dizzy.

A subsequent magnetic resonance imaging scan showed that the Hood College student had a major stroke, and she spent almost two months in rehab before she could walk again. However, it wasn’t until the family’s primary care physician refused to schedule Mary Katherine’s third injection that her mom “finally put two and two together,” she told the Washington Examiner.

A month later, Lisa Ericzon of Alexandria Bay, N.Y., found her 17-year-old daughter Jessica dead on the bathroom floor just 40 hours after her third Gardasil injection. The coroner listed the cause as “undetermined natural causes.”

Jessica had pain and dizziness following her second Gardasil shot. “At the time, we didn’t think about any connection with the vaccination,” Ericzon told me. “But later, when I got on the Internet, I found all of the side effects Jessica complained about and three other women told me their daughters had also died within days of being vaccinated.”

One of those women was Emily Tarsell, of Sparks, Md., whose 21-year-old daughter Christina died 18 days after receiving her final Gardasil injection and experiencing fatigue, dizziness, and a pounding heartbeat. “We had no clue that these were all symptoms of something,” her mother said. Neither an autopsy or toxicology screen could determine the cause of death.

An October 2008 CDC report said 28 million girls and women who received Gardasil had no more adverse medical outcomes than those who hadn’t gotten the shots. But in February 2009, the National Vaccine Information Center (nvic.org) used CDC’s own data to contradict the government’s findings: Gardasil was associated “with at least four times as many death and cardiac arrest reports” as a similar vaccine, and “seemed to be associated with an unusually high number of reports of atypical collapse. …”

The August 2009 Journal of the American Medical Association reported that 89 percent of adverse Gardasil reactions submitted to VAERS had “insufficient identifying information to permit clinical follow-up or review.”

Merck denies any of the deaths are related to its vaccine, and the parents involved can’t prove they were. A Merck spokeswoman would only refer me to the VAERS Web site.
“CDC is still saying this is a safe vaccine. With Pap smears, there was no medical reason for fast-tracking FDA approval. They made it sound like it was some kind of pandemic,” Tarsell added. “No one ever calls you, no one ever follows up.”

Indeed, two months after Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., asked CDC to contact Tarsell, she has yet to hear from them. The feds “totally ignored us,” echoed Ericzon.
