Pro-life leader calls Speaker Boehner’s response to abortion protest “absolute disgrace”

Today, several pro-life leaders from around the nation went to the officers of Speaker John Boehner with a message to GOP leaders: Pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.

Even though the speaker knew the Free The Ban protest was scheduled well in advance, pro-lifers were disappointed when his staff was not available to speak with those who gathered at his office today.

The event follows a similar one in March where eight pro-life leaders were arrested during a sit-in outside Speaker John Boehner’s Office.

This time their numbers were much greater.

According to Operation Rescue, leaders present at the Speaker’s office today included Eric Scheidler of the Pro-Life Action League, Brian Gibson of Pro-Life Action Ministries, Walter and Lori Hoye of Issue 4 Life Foundation, Jeff While, Cheryl Conrad, and Jason Conrad of Survivors, Sarah Howell of CEC for Life, Bud Shaver and Pastor Manny Larzidabal, of Protest ABQ, and others.

House leaders originally planned to pass the late term abortion ban back in January until the vote was sabotaged by Rep. Renee Ellmers, who wanted to remove a rape reporting requirement in the legislation making it easier to get abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Pro-life leaders say that at 20 weeks the unborn child can feel pain, and they were growing impatient that Republicans had not passed the bill.

Their gathering May 7th was intended to further pressure House leadership to get the legislation through and to give the Speaker fetal models of unborn children whose lives hang in the balance each day the bill’s passage is delayed.

Rev. Pat Mahoney, who helped organize the protest, along with African American pastor Rev. Walter Hoye and others, said the group was using the Biblical analogy of the woman who approached the unjust judge and would not relent.

I will say this,” Rev. It would be an absolute disgrace.”

Cheryl Sullenger, senior policy advisor for Operation Rescue, said that they believed that the Speaker was there but that his staff would not come to the door.

Rev. Walter Hoye and and his wife Lori held the exact replica model of a 20 week pre-born child, outside of the Longworth building where Speaker Boehner’s office is.

I held him in my right hand when he weighed a mere 1.9 pounds. There is no way I will support legislation that includes an exception for rape and fails to end abortion in the United States after 20 weeks.”

“I want Speaker Boehner to know that not only do Black Lives Matter but all lives matter,” Rev. Hoye said.

Outside, the pro-life group Survivors of the Abortion holocaust report that Rev. James Conrad, a sibling survivor, and his mother, also a sibling survivor from an illegal abortion, spoke at a press conference urging Speaker Boehner and the GOP House to pass the 20 Week Pain Capable Protection Act.

Bud Shaver Executive Director of Protest ABQ, said that he made two attempts to deliver a petition from New Mexicans and voices from all across the nation calling for a Ban on Late-Term Abortion, but that, “House speaker Boehner refused to open his constituents office to hear the desire of people representing states all across the nation who want to see an end of Late-Term Abortion in our country.”

It’s a huge disappointment that House Speaker Boehner closed his public office in Washington D.C. to the organizations, Pastors, and leaders from all across the country. In New Mexico it is the Radical pro-abortion Democrats that refused to allow a vote to end Late-Term Abortion. Now it’s the Republican majority in D.C. who are apparently doing the same thing,” Shaver said.

Prayer outside Speaker Boehners office freetheban pat mahoney

A few of the pro-lifers went back to the Speaker’s office later in the afternoon but again, no one would answer the door.

“I felt like we were being told that we didn’t matter and neither did the babies that this bill would save,” said Sullenger.

It was disrespectful not to at lease send someone out so we could at least feel like we were heard. Instead, Boehner’s staff turned a blind eye and a deaf ear, not just to us, but also to plight of babies and their moms. It was disappointing, to say the least,” she concluded.

One day after the protest House majority leader Kevin McCarthy told THE WEEKLY STANDARD that the House of Representatives would vote on the bill next week.

According to House Republicans, the requirement that rapes be reported to law enforcement has been removed from the bill. Instead, the legislation requires abortion doctors to ensure that victims have received either medical treatment or licensed counseling at least 48 hours prior to the late-term procedure.

Steven Ertlet at Life News reports, that according to his sources, the rape exception language will be airtight by requiring some sort of documented medical treatment or counseling 48 hours prior to the abortion and provided by physicians or counselors that are outside of the abortion industry. In cases of rape or incest of a minor, the abuse must first be reported to either social service or law enforcement. In addition, abortionists are explicitly required to follow state mandatory reporting laws and state parental involvement laws.

LifeNews said that sources they are in contact with say that provisions of the bill include, “a born-alive infant protection requirement that requires a second doctor be present and prepared to provide care to the child if he or she is born alive and that the child must receive the same level of care as would any other premature infant. The baby must then be transported and admitted to a hospital. The woman is also empowered with a right to sue if the law is not followed, and is provided with an informed consent form that notifies her of the age of her baby and the requirements under the law.”

All late term abortions done under the exceptions, must be reported to the Center for Disease Control which will compile the data on a annual basis for public review, he said.

Pro-lifers‬ to present fetal model to ‪GOP‬ leaders in protest at Speaker’s Office over late term abortion ban

It is called the Free the Ban protest and pro-life leaders from several organizations are headed to the Capital Thursday to send a message to GOP leaders: Pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.

Fetal Model 643768793579_n

The event follows a similar one in March where eight pro-life leaders were arrested during a sit-in outside Speaker John Boehner’s Office.

This time their numbers are expected to be much greater.

House leaders originally planned to pass the late term abortion ban back in January until the vote was sabotaged by Rep. Renee Ellmers, who wanted to remove a rape reporting requirement in the legislation making it easier to get abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Pro-life leaders say that at 20 weeks the unborn child can feel pain, but is not the sole reason for banning all abortions.

Polls show that Americans are not comfortable and many oppose late term abortions, which occur legally within the US for any reason possible as demonstrated by these for profit abortion clinic advertisements:

Speaker Boehner and his fellow GOP leaders claim to be for the legislation and say they are working to draft the correct wording for the bill.

But, frustrated pro-life leaders like, Jill Stanek, who once held an aborted child in her arms, says that time is paramount and House leadership has delayed a vote for far too long.

Jill Stanek speaks about aborted baby she held free the ban

Stanek told the media at that March 25th sit-in that she wanted to apply pressure to GOP House leaders to get the late term abortion ban passed.

“I held a little aborted human being until he died, 21 weeks, that this bill would have saved had it been in place. This little abortion survivor was the impetus of a bill passed eventually in the state of Illinois called the Born Alive Infants Protection Act that Barack Obama, a state Senator voted against four times. We expect this sort of treatment of abortion from the Democrat side but we do not expect this treatment from the Republican side. And, that’s what we’ve seen here with the 20 week abortion ban,”
she said.

Almost 4 months have now passed. Innocent children are dying and women are being diminished because of the Republican leadership’s inaction,” pro-life organizers Troy Newman, Rev. Pat Mahoney, and Jill Stanek state on their events page.

The group of over 13 pro-life organizations plans to go to Speaker Boehner’s office on Thursday, May 7th, to, “be a voice for the innocent children who die every day in America from the violence of abortion.”

Among the protest leaders will be Black pastor, Walter Hoye who plans to present Speaker Boehner’s staff with the fetal model of a 20-week-old African-American baby.

My son was born at less than six months gestation. I held him in my right hand when he weighed a mere 1.9 pounds. There is no way I will support legislation that includes an exception for rape and fails to end abortion in the United States after 20 weeks.

I want Speaker Boehner to know that not only do Black Lives Matter but all lives matter,” Rev. Hoye said.

According to the latest stats from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) on abortion, 730,322 abortions were performed in 2011.

Of that number, the CDC reported 7.3% of unborn babies killed by abortion were between 14–20 weeks’ gestation and 1.4% were 21 weeks’ gestation or greater.

A chart published by the CDC for 39 states that reported abortions by gestation (520,304 of the 730,322 abortions reported in 2011) show that in those 39 states:

335,748 abortions were performed at less than 8 weeks
139,775 abortions were performed at 9-13 weeks gestation
17,952 abortions were performed at 14-15 weeks gestation
9,795 abortions were performed at 16-17 weeks gestation
9,709 abortions were performed at 18-20 weeks gestation
7,325 abortions were performed at 21 weeks gestation or greater
    .

A 2014 report published by the Lozier Institute found that the United States is one of only seven countries in the world that permit elective abortion past 20 weeks.

Pro-life leaders determined to send message to Speaker Boehner as protest nears

Posted in Late term abortion with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on March 23, 2015 by saynsumthn

This Wednesday please join us for a pray-in/sit-in at Speaker Boehner’s office as we call for legislation banning all abortions after 20 weeks. Sadly, the House has failed to schedule a vote on this bill. People, it’s time to be a voice for those who have no voice!

Those are the words of a Washington D.C. pastor, and director of the Christian Defense Coalition, Patrick Mahoney, one of three pro-life leaders organizing a public protest at the offices of Speaker John Boehner this week.

Free the Ban Jill Troy Pat

Rev. Mahoney, along with former nurse and well-known pro-life blogger Jill Stanek and Operation Rescue president, Troy Newman are planning a sit-it Wednesday at the speaker’s office because GOP leaders broke a promise and cancelled a vote on the “The Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.”

The law would outlaw abortions after 20 weeks when many believe that there is documentation that unborn children can feel pain.

11036266_909158659105047_3768329217566775935_n

It was so disappointing to have you pull the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act from being voted on earlier this year.” the group wrote in an open letter to the Speaker recently.

The letter continues:

“It was even more troubling to have this life-saving legislation withdrawn on the eve of the 2015 March for Life, when hundreds of thousands of Americans had come to Washington, D.C. to embrace human rights and equality for all, and we were promised it would be passed on January 22.

“Although we are sure this was not your intention, millions felt betrayed by your actions and those of the Republican House leadership. Just one day before scores would be marching in the harsh winter conditions of January, we were still being assured a vote would happen the next day.

Imagine our further sense of betrayal that, almost two months later, no vote has been rescheduled for the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.”

Protest organizers have called the failure of Republican party leaders to introduce the bill not only a betrayal of the pro-life movement but a betrayal of America’s children.

We expect them to act,” Newman said in an interview with WorldNet Daily, “It’s exactly why the voters put them there. It was in their platform, what they ran on.”

troy newman

Newman’s determination to send a clear and uncompromising message to party leaders on Wednesday came through loud and clear just days before the sit-in will take place. Newman said he won’t back down, “We are going there to put pressure on Boehner to get this bill pushed forward,” he told Saynsumthn.

Newman questioned Boehner’s leadership in passing a law most Americans support, “This is the the most “pro-life Congress” in US History but they can’t pass a bill they passed last session?” Newman asked.

abortion-jill-stanek

Stanek says that she helped organize this protest after Rep. Renee Ellmers sabotaged the bill when it was originally supposed to be brought forward, that was January 22nd this year, the anniversary of Roe, the law which legalized abortion.

After that, I, for the most part, kept my silence, waiting… and waiting… and waiting for the GOP House leadership to circle back and fix their mess,” Stanek writes on her blog.

The GOP must have mistaken our silence for indifference – when really it was a grand display of unmerited patience – because after January 22 the House leadership went silent itself about the 20-week ban.

“So finally a small group of us said enough and organized a protest for March 25, at 11:00 a.m., at Speaker Boehner’s office, at whose door the buck stops.”

John Boehner

A week before the protest is to occur, Speaker Boehner told Life News that there is no purposeful delay in bringing the bill back to the floor, that it is very important to him and he and Republican leaders are committed to bringing it back to the floor for a vote.

I’m proud to lead a pro-life bipartisan majority in the U.S. House of Representatives,” Boehner said.

John Boehner 2

The Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act is the most significant pro-life legislation to come before Congress since enactment of the ban on partial-birth abortions, and it remains an important priority for our majority. We have a moral obligation to defend the defenseless, and we will continue to fight to ensure our nation’s laws respect the sanctity of unborn human life,” the Speaker added.

But protest organizers were not convinced by the Speaker’s grand standing as evidences by Stanek’s response to Boehner, “Words, words,” she writes.

11068240_916943381659908_2170996575457217449_n

Stanek’s impatience comes from her own personal experience of holding a dying aborted child in her arms, “For me, it always comes back to the 21-week abortion survivor I held until he died. That sweetheart would be alive today had a 20-week abortion ban been in place.”

Days before the protest, Stanek told Saynsumthn that she is feeling determined to see that the GOP knows she is not going away as a voice for these children, “Wherein lies one of the pro-life movement’s problems. We’re obviously not respected or feared enough to have had someone(s) in the political party that is supposed to uphold our interests carefully shepherd the 20-week abortion ban through the process like it was truly a Big Deal.

Right now I am feeling determined… angry… fed up… and disgusted,” Stanek said.

patmahoneydc

Rev. Mahoney is encouraging pro-lifers to join them on Wednesday, citing holocaust survivor and Nobel Peace prize winner, Elie Wiesel, on the group’s events page, “The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference. The opposite of art is not ugliness, it’s indifference. The opposite of faith is not heresy, it’s indifference. And the opposite of life is not death, it’s indifference.”

We cannot be indifferent when it comes to standing for innocent human life and equality for all! Join us on March 25! ‪#‎freetheban‬,” Rev. Mahoney writes.

“I, as a nurse at a hospital in Chicago, held an abortion survivor for 45 minutes until he died, and he was 21 weeks old,” Stanek told WorldNet Daily. “An abortion ban such as this would save babies like I held. This is very real to me. I have actually seen and held the babies that the House is just playing around with willy-nilly right now.”

I have determined next Wednesday will be a fitting time to remind politicians, and even we in the pro-life community, about that little guy and others like him, and attempt to restore a sense of urgency on saving these babies from an agonizing, tortured death,” she said.

Anyone who wishes to join Stanek, Newman, and Rev. Mahoney can get additional information on the group’s Facebook page. For updates as the protest unfolds follow the hashtag #freetheban on twitter.

AHA members attack when pro-life leader announces sit in over 20 week abortion ban

Posted in AHA, Jill Stanek, Late term abortion with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on March 9, 2015 by saynsumthn

A Law is proposed to eliminate abortions after 20 weeks – when GOP Representative Renee Ellmers sabotages it on the 42nd anniversary of Roe v. Wade, pro-lifers reacted by protesting outside her offices.

Jill Stanek Ellmers Robin Marty

Republican leaders respond by saying the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act would be introduced again but, to date, it’s been been three months and the leadership has done nothing.

Now, Jill Stanek, Pat Mahoney, and Troy Newman are organizing a sit-in at the officers of Speaker John Boehner and guess who is having a conniption fit?

Not the speaker, but Abolish Human Abortion (AHA).

When Jill posted this to her Facebook page, members of AHA pounced:

Jill Stanek Sit In Abortion

20-week abortion bans are undoubtedly ageist. Jill Stanek knows this,” writes Matt Ferro, director of an abolitionist society.

Matt Ferro Jill Stanek

________________________________________

Deanna Evans-Cook, the administrator of another Abolitionist Society had this to say, “Sitting is going to do as much as marching and taping your mouth shut. You need to re-read Romans 1:16, Jill, or just admit you deny the truth.”

Deanna Evans Cook Jill Stanek

__________________________________________________

Toby Harmon a known leader in Abolish Human Abortion posted this, ” Jill, when will you begin walking in the footsteps of your relative Levi Coffin instead of being the kind of person who opposed him?”

Jill Stanek AHA

Rick Small whose Facebook page says he works at Abolish Human Abortion wrote this, “Jill, Do Genesis 9:6, Proverbs 24:10-12, Matthew 22:39, Mark 12:31, and 1 John 4:20-21 have 20-week limits on them?”

Rick Small Jill Stanek

As Jill Stanek explained, the emotion she experienced holding a 21-week-old abortion survivor at Christ Hospital years ago has made this 20-week ban very personal.

I hope Republican leadership does not think that with the passage of time pro-lifers will forget about the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. This is why I am coming to Washington, D.C., from Illinois for the protest,” Jill said in the press release.

Free the Ban protest 32_7098722087914781723_n

“We want the Pain Capable Act called for a vote, and for it not to be any more watered down than it already was. There should have been no rape/incest exception. But removing the reporting requirement would not only give late-term abortionists a big loophole, it would hurt pregnant rape victims as well as other potential victims of sexual perpetrators whose crime should be prosecuted,” Stanek pointed out.

Now, to recap, three pro-life leaders are risking arrest to pass a law that would protect babies.

Will it end all abortions? No.

Did these three leaders write the law? No.

But, instead of trying to protect children who would die after 20 weeks, AHA criticizes those who will.

Jill Stanek Held Aborted Baby

In answering her critics, Jill has posted this response, “I have exhausted myself responding to AHA’s all or nothing rhetoric, or “principled incrementalism,” and just don’t anymore. But for your benefit…

“The default position of all prolifers is immediatism. But we live in a country where abortion is legal throughout all 9 mos, similar to when the evil of slavery was legal.

“So we work on multiple strategies: changing laws, educating the public, helping of mothers in crisis, etc. We save the babies we can when we can.

“This is comparable to the Underground Railroad, Corrie ten Boom, Irena Sendler, lifeboats on the Titanic, Shifra and Puah, etc etc etc.

“AHA will say incrementalism is giving permission for some babies to die. But those babies are legally to destined to die. We are not giving permission.

“In fact, there is no such thing as an immediatist law. Even the Life Begins at Conception Act is incremental.

“AHA will then say there is “principled” incrementalism vs “unprincipled,” which AHA defines.

“So the LBAC ACT may save US babies, but it leaves all other babies to die in all other countries in the world where abortion is legal. So AHA is saying “and then you can kill the baby” to the countries of China, NKorea, Australia, etc., but that is more moral than a rape/incest exception? I’d say AHA is letting millions and millions of more babies die, applying the logic it imposes on me.

“And what abt babies conceived and killed by IVF? And what abt babies killed by hormonal contraception?

“Unless you pass a worldwide ban against abortion, IVF, and hormonal contraception, your law will be incremental.

“I come at this from the perspective of having held a 21 wk abortion survivor 45 min until he died. This isn’t theory to me, and I don’t have time for legalists who feel superior for taking a loftier position. This is urgent to me, and I think it’s sickening to express willingness to let the baby I held die until all can be saved.”

Well…I think Jill stated her position rather well.
