Pro-lifers who were attacked by pro-choice woman: We believe in forgiveness

Pro-lifers from the group Created Equal say they are willing to forgive a violent pro-choice woman who attacked them as they exercised their 1st Amendment Rights in Ohio.

Fox and Friends Created Equal

Mark Harrington founder of Created Equal and Seth Drayer who was attacked were on Fox and Friends when they made the statement that they were willing to drop the charges if the pro-choice woman who attacked them would sit down and speak with them:

“We’re willing to drop the charges,” Harrington tells Fox News, “In fact, I’ve asked for a meeting with her – if she’s willing to apologize. Seth and I are both Christians, we believe in forgiveness, we’ve already forgiven her. But, if she’s not remorseful she needs to own up to what she’s done.”

The attack took place this week as I detailed in my previous post:

According to the pro-life group, Created Equal, Seth Drayer, Created Equal’s Director of Training, was physically attacked while leading their interns in outreach in downtown Columbus, OH.

At first the angry pro-choice woman began encroaching into the private space of the pro-life teen:

She then kicks the sign the pro-life teen was displaying:

Proabort 4

Next she turns her vicious anger against the camera person – attacking him:

Proabort 5 camera

Proabort 6 attacks cameraman

And in a true cowardly fashion- she runs off vandalizing more signs as she goes :

Proabort 7 runs off

Proabort 8 more vandalism

When warned that police have been called she responds with a ton of expletives and assaults the pro-lifer again:

proabort 9

She tells him, “No uterus – no right to talk about it. Understand me mother-fu****?”

She then boards a city bus and before it can leave- the police arrest her:

proabort arrested

Watch the video: Warning- very graphic language !!

Created Equal’s Executive Director Mark Harrington responded, “Violent attacks on pro-lifers are becoming more common. Pro-lifers need to be winsome and be willing to take verbal and physical abuse if necessary in order to remain faithful to our pledge to be non-violent. We also should take precautions to reduce the likelihood of these attacks, be prepared to film them and prosecute the perpetrators (if necessary) to the fullest extent of the law. We understand the risk we take each time we go into the marketplace of ideas with a message as counter-cultural as showing the victims of abortion. However, despite the threat we will not shrink back from representing the victims…Please pray for the perpetrator of the attack. She is likely post-abortive and needs to come to repentance for the attack.”

Holocaust Survivor on Forgiveness

Holocaust survivor Eva Kor was subjected to life-threatening and invasive experimental tests at the hands of Nazis when she was 10 years old.

She was taken to Auschwitz in May 1944, along with her father, mother, two older sisters and her identical twin sister, Miriam.

She and Miriam were “guinea pigs” for SS doctor Josef Mengele’s experiments on twins, Kor said in a phone call from her Holocaust museum in Indiana. Mengele viewed twins as genetic control groups.

After 10 months in Auschwitz, only Miriam and Eva — then Eva Mozes — walked out of the camp when they were liberated Jan. 27, 1945. The rest of her family was murdered.

Despite enduring severe illness, starvation and humiliation, Kor said she has forgiven all of the Nazis. The author of “Surviving the Angel of Death: The True Story of a Mengele Twin in Auschwitz,” she travels the world promoting her message of forgiveness and sharing her story of survival.

Eva Kor

Wise words from Holocaust survivor Eva Kor. Kor founded the CANDLES Holocaust Museum and Education Center museum.

“By the time I was born, my destiny was decided, as were the destinies of so many Jewish children. The Nazis had no use for Jew-ish children.”

“Everybody always says when we talk about tragic human events such as genocide, never again. That’s an important idea, never again. If I want to help prevent genocide from happening, I’d better understand it. What made it possible for a guy like Adolf Hitler to rise to power? If we can understand that, maybe we can use that to prevent other terrorists from rising to power.”

Hitler, she said, took advantage of the poor economy that followed the Great Depression. “Hitler told them he could make their lives much better and many people believed him. Instead of solving the crisis, he blamed the Jews. So that is another thing to remember: anytime a ruler or president starts blaming people, looking for scapegoats instead of taking responsibility, that’s a dangerous sign.”

Hitler was a terrorist who rose to power because good people said nothing, she said.

“The key word here is terrorist. Terrorists have no respect for human life,” she said. “In Germany, not all Germans were Nazis. There were many good Germans — but nobody spoke up.”

Tears Fall by BarlowGirl – A pro-life song about forgiveness and regret

I have had the same dream many times.
It haunts my mind.
It starts with a life but it ends every time.
Oh, so many faces that this world will never see.
A reason for your life but your heart will never beat.

May the tears fall down.
Let them soften this ground.
May our hearts be found.
God, forgive us now.

Oh, what have we lost because we chose?
Well never know.
And loving you is better than feeling alone.
And all our claims to freedom have become these heavy chains.
And in the name of rights we keep filling nameless graves.

May our tears fall down.
Let them soften this ground.
May our hearts be found.
God, forgive us now.

Let the tears fall down.
Let them soften this ground.
Let our hearts be found.
God, forgive us now.

Clinic assailant cancels abortion

By: Mark Stodghill, Duluth News Tribune 2/17/2010

Mechelle Hall dabbed tears from her eyes Tuesday as she pleaded guilty to second-degree assault for brandishing a knife and threatening a woman who urged her not to get an abortion.

Yet, she revealed later, she never got it.

Hall, 26, of Superior, admitted her crime in a St. Louis County courtroom under questioning by county prosecutor Nathaniel Stumme. Public defender Laura Zimm told Judge David Johnson that, under terms of a plea agreement, Hall would receive probation and wouldn’t have to serve any jail time. It was a routine, perfunctory court hearing.

The surprise came when Hall was reached by phone at her Superior home Tuesday evening. She said she never had the planned abortion. Hall said she decided to keep the baby after being confronted by anti-abortion protesters Leah Winandy and her mother, Sarah, on Nov. 24. She said she was stressed out and they made her realize that she didn’t want to end the life she was carrying inside her.

Hall was asked if there was anything she’d like to say to the Winandys.

“Thank you for being there,” she said. “If they weren’t there, I probably would have gone through with it and regretted it for the rest of my life. It probably would have gone the other way. I’m sincerely sorry for doing that to her.”

Reached at her northern Wisconsin home Tuesday evening, Leah Winandy, 21, said she was protesting abortions on behalf of Pro Life Ministries of Duluth and handing out pamphlets on First Street outside the Building for Women when confronted by Hall.

“I was there to ask mothers not to kill their babies at the abortion clinic,” she said. “She [Hall] was walking toward me. She pulled out a knife and waved it at me saying ‘Don’t come near me.’ I said, ‘Please don’t kill your baby. Fear God.’ I came to the edge of the courtyard. I said, ‘Look and listen to your ultrasound.’ She turned around and came back with a knife and held it up to my throat.”

Winandy said she was contacted by the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office and asked if she would be agreeable to Hall receiving probation instead of a guideline prison sentence. She agreed.

“I forgive Mechelle for what she did; I do forgive her because God has given me forgiveness in my heart for her,” Winandy said.

Hall said she will learn the sex of her child at her next ultrasound next month.
