Report: Planned Parenthood discriminated against pregnant employees

Planned Parenthood staffers are exposing the organization’s abysmal treatment and discrimination against its pregnant employees. The details, published by the New York Times in a stunning exposé, reveal that Planned Parenthood “employers saw accommodating expecting mothers as expensive and inconvenient. Others were unsympathetic to workers seeking special treatment.”

“A dozen lawsuits filed against Planned Parenthood clinics in federal and state courts since 2013 accused managers of denying workers rest periods, lunch breaks or overtime pay, or retaliating against them for taking medical leave,” the New York Times states.

The shocking report reveals how negatively Planned Parenthood viewed pregnant staffers.

The former human resources manager, who requested anonymity, said that executives assumed that when a pregnant worker brought in a doctor’s note, it was an excuse to work less. People who took sick days were perceived as lacking commitment.

The Times spoke to more than a dozen current and former staffers and organizers of the Office and Professional Employees International Union, which accused the abortion corporation “of sidelining, ousting or otherwise handicapping pregnant employees,” and found that:

  • Managers discriminated against pregnant women and new mothers.
  • A pregnant PP staffer was fired weeks after giving birth. Another fired the day she returned from maternity leave.
  • Managers ignored a pregnant staffer’s doctor’s note recommending frequent breaks, asked her to delay maternity leave, and pressured her to return back early. Others had to work long hours with few breaks.
  • Managers declined to hire pregnant job candidates.
  • Supervisors openly debated whether candidates were likely to get pregnant in future, preferring those who were not.

According to current and former employees in California, Texas, North Carolina, and New York, “[M]anagers in some locations declined to hire pregnant job candidates, refused requests by expecting mothers to take breaks and in some cases pushed them out of their jobs after they gave birth,” in clear violation of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), which “provides certain employees with up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave per year.”

Planned Parenthood reportedly “declined to hire one pregnant woman and to promote one new mother.”

A former hiring manager at a Planned Parenthood in California said that when internal promotions came up, supervisors openly debated whether candidates were likely to get pregnant in the near future and preferred those who were not…The former manager said her colleagues felt they couldn’t afford to promote someone only to lose them for several weeks.

Under the Pregnancy Discrimination Act (PDA):

  • An employer cannot refuse to hire a woman because of her pregnancy related condition as long as she is able to perform the major functions of her job. An employer cannot refuse to hire her because of its prejudices against pregnant workers….
  • [A]n employer that allows temporarily disabled employees to take disability leave or leave without pay must allow an employee who is temporarily disabled due to pregnancy to do the same.
  • Employers must hold open a job for a pregnancy related absence the same length of time that jobs are held open for employees on sick or temporary disability leave.
  • If an employee is temporarily unable to perform her job due to pregnancy, the employer must treat her the same as any other temporarily disabled employee…
  • [I]mpairments resulting from pregnancy (for example, gestational diabetes) may be disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)…

The Act also…

  • [F]orbids discrimination based on pregnancy when it comes to any other aspect of employment, including pay, job assignments, promotions, layoffs, training, fringe benefits, firing, and any other term or condition of employment.

Despite many documented abuses, including pregnancy discrimination, Planned Parenthood is granted over $500 million a year in taxpayer subsidies, millions of which flow from the Federal Title X family planning program.

Those Title X requirements state:

Grantees and sub-recipients are obligated to establish and maintain personnel policies that comply with applicable Federal and State requirements, including Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the annual appropriations language. These policies should include, but are not to be limited to, staff recruitment, selection, performance evaluation, promotion, termination, compensation, benefits, and grievance procedures.

Right on cue, when asked about this behavior, Planned Parenthood leadership either denied the validity of a particular claim or stated that it was “investigating the allegations.” This is a common response the abortion corporation employs with abortion-friendly media, a strategy exposed seen after Live Action caught Planned Parenthood lying about retraining staffers following an undercover investigation.

Planned Parenthood masquerades as a women’s health care organization, yet despite netting large profits, it appears from Wen’s statement above that Planned Parenthood has thus far not offered its pregnant employees paid maternity leave.

As a result, staffers like Marissa Hamilton, employed at a Colorado Planned Parenthood, created a Go Fund Me page due to “financial strain” after her baby was born prematurely.

Planned Parenthood’s leadership allegedly looked down on pregnant employees who were reportedly “scared to tell managers they were pregnant.” In desperation, one employee pretended “they were not planning on having children or were gay or single.”

Live Action News has previously documented the discrimination accusation of a former Planned Parenthood employee alleging that her employer made it difficult for her to take medical leave when she was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Planned Parenthood settled that case out of court.

Live Action’s investigations have exposed the true face of Planned Parenthood and recently revealed that abortion, not prenatal care, is the primary “service” Planned Parenthood offers to pregnant patients. Is it any wonder that an organization which profits from ending the lives of over 320,000 preborn babies every year by abortion would treat pregnant staffers so poorly?

Next in Live Action’s multi-part docuseries showing irrefutable evidence of a decades-long sexual abuse cover-up at Planned Parenthood is an interview that will reveal how the taxpayer-funded organization lied when they told the American people and the media that they were “retraining” staffers. The interview originally aired last year; however, in this current climate of the TimesUp and MeToo movements as well as a growing intolerance for enablers of abuse, it is imperative that the American people know the kind of organization they are being forced to fund through Title X, Medicaid and other state and federal tax dollars.

“Despite Planned Parenthood’s public rhetoric as well as laws requiring it to report suspected abuse, its failure to report has been deliberate and widespread,” Live Action president and founder Lila Rose stated in her group’s initial press release.

“Time and again, rather than reporting abuse to authorities, Planned Parenthood has repeatedly looked the other way and committed abortions on victims as young as 12 years old. “Live Action is releasing this report as the TimesUp movement is exposing both sexual abusers and those who help them cover up their crimes — the people who knew about the abuse but stayed silent,” Rose added.

The Aiding Abusers report, according to Rose, “includes numerous court cases, multiple news media reports, official police reports, state health department records, manager testimonials admitting a failure to report, and statements of underage sex abuse victims saying they were returned to their abusers after forced abortions.”

The next video release of the docuseries reveals how Planned Parenthood lied after being caught on film in an undercover Live Action investigation, displaying a willingness to turn a blind eye to child sex trafficking.

As Live Action News has previously reported, in 2011, Live Action investigators exposed eight Planned Parenthood staffers at seven different Planned Parenthood facilities willing to aid and abet child sex traffickers by suggesting how to get abortions and birth control for their 14- and 15-year-old victims. After Live Action released the undercover footage exposing Planned Parenthood, the abortion chain informed the media that it would retrain thousands of staff members across the country to properly report suspected sexual abuse of minors to authorities.

Ramona Treviño, who was employed as a Planned Parenthood manager in Sherman, Texas, when these so-called retraining sessions were to have occurred, revealed that these “retraining sessions” actually instructed staff how to identify undercover journalists and whether they were being recorded instead of helping employees identify and report potential abuse.

“Planned Parenthood Federation of America went out publicly saying that they would retrain all of their staff on how they reported abuse,” Treviño states in the video interview below:

The alleged retraining was pitched to the media as a way to ensure that Planned Parenthood staffers knew how to identify victims of child sexual abuse or sex trafficking. And, of course, as Live Action News had previously documented, the media accepted Planned Parenthood’s words with zero follow-up.

Treviño, who attended the “retraining,” describes it instead as a training on how to detect if employees were being recorded.

“And, when we were called into this meeting, I – um – went in really believing that Planned Parenthood could redeem themselves. They are going to prove that they really do care about women and  this is something that really concerns them,” Treviño tells Rose in the video.

The former Planned Parenthood manager continued:

I walk into the room and it’s dark – we sign in – and there’s a projector screen pulled down. And, they begin to play all of the previous undercover investigations that had been put out about Planned Parenthood. And I became very perplexed. I thought, you know, what’s going on here? Are we showing these things because they’re trying to show us, you know, what not to do? You know, the things that are wrong- that we don’t do these things?

… I raised my hand and I said, “I’m confused. Like, when are we going to actually begin the retraining? What can I do, as a manager, to take this information back to my staff and… enforce policies and procedures that would help protect women who are experiencing either sex trafficking or abuse, sexual abuse in any way?” Because, that’s a difficult subject to talk about, if you ever have a patient come in who expresses that. And so, I really wanted to know how we dealt with that.

However, despite Treviño’s continued questions, the former Planned Parenthood worker claims she was simply shot down.

… She immediately shot me down, and she said, “We’re not here to talk about that, Ramona. We’re here to teach you how to identify if you’re being videotaped or recorded or entrapped in any way.”

At that moment, my heart just sunk. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I couldn’t believe that we were actually, um, there to train on how to identify if we’re being recorded. Again, it goes back to…do we have something to hide? Why, why is this an issue for us?

“That experience for me left me so disgusted that I couldn’t see how Planned Parenthood could ever redeem themselves after that,” Treviño adds.

This first hand account of that alleged “retraining” has been virtually dismissed by members of the mainstream media, which is regularly rewarded by Planned Parenthood for its silent complicity. Live Action’s Aiding Abusers docuseries and investigative report come on the heels of new proposed rules from The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which would require recipients of federal Title X dollars to report sexual abuse.

In addition to one former Planned Parenthood worker testifying to systemic sexual abuse cover-ups at Planned Parenthood, Live Action previously released video testimony from other former workers, corroborating Live Action’s claims.

“Because of flagrant violations like these, the proposed Title X rule tightening on reporting abuse is absolutely necessary,” Lila Rose stated in the aforementioned press release.

She then called for Planned Parenthood to be investigated and defunded immediately:

“Planned Parenthood has proven that its priority is selling abortions, not caring for the most vulnerable of girls. Planned Parenthood’s culture of cover-up must end, the cycle of abuse of innocent children must end, and Planned Parenthood’s half a billion dollars in annual federal funding must end. Taxpayers cannot be forced to subsidize these abuses of children.”

Rose has also called for the TimesUp movement to join Live Action in exposing Planned Parenthood for decades of enabling sexual abusers.

Black Planned Parenthood Employee Claims he was Fired because of his Race

On February 6, 2013, the United States District Court , Eastern District of Missouri, Eastern Division, denied Planned Parenthood’s motion for summary judgement in a case where they were accused of firing a black employee because of his race.

According to the lawsuit, Edgar Harris, who is African-American filed a civil rights complaint against Planned Parenthood after he was terminated claiming his termination was racist based.

Harris was employed by Planned Parenthood as an armed security guard from March 30, 2009 to September 28, 2011.

Because Harris was scheduled to be in court on September 28, 2011, he asked his supervisor, Tom Hemingway, to find coverage for his shift on that date. On September 27, 2011, Hemingway told Harris that no coverage was available. According to Hemingway, Harris became angry and made the
statement, “I should shoot this place up.”

Hemingway states that he became concerned and asked another employee to speak to Harris. Hemingway left the premises and Harris completed his shift. On September 28, 2011, Cathy Williams, Planned Parenthood’s Vice President of Human Resources, informed Harris that his employment was terminated for making a threat.

Harris then filed a claim for unemployment benefits which was initially denied based on the finding that he had been discharged for misconduct.

After receiving testimony from Harris and a witness from Planned Parenthood, the Appeals Tribunal determined that Harris did not make the threat for which he was terminated and that Harris was
not disqualified from unemployment benefits.

Harris filed a charge of discrimination with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), in which he alleged that he was terminated because of his race. According to Harris’ sworn statement to the EEOC, Williams told him over the telephone that he was terminated because he threatened “to shoot up the place.”

Harris denied making the statement and pointed out to Williams that Hemingway would not have allowed Harris to complete his shift if he had made such a threat.

Harris states that Williams refused to consider Harris’ argument or conduct an investigation and opted to believe Hemingway, who is white, instead of Harris.

Despite terminating his employment for making a violent threat, Williams told Harris that he could come to the facility to pick up his paycheck. Harris states that before his termination, he “always had excellent job performance.”

Teacher fired for speaking out against Planned Parenthood

BilLDiss2Portland, Oregon: On Monday, December 16, 2013 the school board for the Portland Public School District voted to terminate the teaching contract of Bill Diss, a teacher who has been an outspoken opponent of Planned Parenthood. Mr. Diss experienced censure in his teaching career beginning in 2007 when he publically opposed the building of a new Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in downtown Portland. The current action follows Mr. Diss’ opposition to being forced to facilitate presenters from the Teen Outreach Program (TOP), a program administered by Planned Parenthood, coming into his tutorial session to recruit students.

“Bill Diss is a well qualified teacher with a track record of success,” states Dana Cody, President and Executive Director of Life Legal Defense Foundation. “As the circumstances surrounding this termination demonstrate, Mr. Diss has done nothing that would merit being fired from his job. LLDF will pursue every possible avenue in defending Mr. Diss’ rights in this matter, and hopes to see his rights ultimately protected despite PPS’ actions.”

Fired for refusing a Flu Shot, what happened to “My Body My Choice?”

TriHealth, a company in Cincinnati, Ohio, recently fired 150 employees for failing to get a flu shot.

The company offered all of its 10,800 employees free flu shots. Employees had one month to get stuck with the shot.

The deadline was Nov. 16, and employees who did not get the shot were fired last Wednesday.

To keep their jobs, they need a flu shot by Dec. 3.

“The flu vaccine still is the best way to protect our employees and our patients against the flu,” spokesman Joe Kelley said.

This fall, Mount Carmel Health System became the most-recent central Ohio hospital system to require employee flu vaccinations. By late January 2013, OhioHealth said it will begin to hold accountable any employees who disregard a similar mandate that it first told them about during the 2011-12 flu season.

Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center and Nationwide Children’s Hospital began requiring employees to get the vaccine three years ago following the H1N1 flu scare.

At Wexner Medical Center, those who refuse vaccines on religious or philosophical grounds are asked to fill out waivers. Hospital officials try to change their minds by pointing out the science behind the vaccine and the risks of not being vaccinated to them, to patients and to their families.“It’s very touchy, and you walk a thin line between being discriminatory and doing what’s right from a medical standpoint,” Kirk said.

Penalties for noncompliance vary among hospitals. Children’s employees found to be noncompliant might receive cost-of-living pay increases but not merit-pay raises, Cunningham said. At Wexner Medical Center, employees who don’t receive the vaccine by Dec. 31 of each flu season will lose computer access.That leaves most workers unable to do their jobs, with the exception of some maintenance and custodial workers, Kirk said. “It’s gotten people’s attention.” Nobody has been terminated for noncompliance, he said.

OhioHealth employees who forgo the shots are subject to the hospital system’s progressive disciplinary system, though it’s not a firing offense if it is the first blemish on an employee’s record, OhioHealth officials said.

After Dec. 31, Mount Carmel employees won’t be able to work until they’ve complied with the new vaccination policy, spokesman Jason Koma said.

In Missouri, a Mercy Hospital employee is facing disciplinary action after refusing to get a flu shot.

The hospital adopted a mandatory flu shot policy this year.

“It is in the best interest of our patients,” Chief of Quality at Mercy Hospital Keith Starky said. “We know that influenza is a leading killer for the elderly and it is just not a risk we can take.”

The policy states that employees can forgo the shot for a few specific reasons, including religious.

The employee refusing to take the flu shot said she is a Christian.

“My religious reasons request was denied,” she said.

Sam Yette Dies:

Newsweek’s First Black D.C. Correspondent Samuel F. Yette, 81, a journalist, author and educator who became an influential and sometimes incendiary voice on civil rights, died Jan. 21 at the Morningside House assisted-living facility in Laurel. He had Alzheimer’s disease.

“My dad would like to be known for teaching,” Michael Yette said. “He was a natural teacher, and he wanted to spread knowledge and wisdom to particularly his people to help them advance the lives of his people, and journalism was his tool of preference in doing that.”

However, Yette’s controversial book “The Choice: The Issue of Black Survival in America” put him in headlines. It came to be used as a textbook on 50 college campuses, including DePaul University, the University of Chicago and the University of Nebraska, he said, as well as at traditionally black schools such as Howard University.

“The book dealt with things they did not want people to know about at the time,” Yette told the Tennessee Tribune, which he joined as a columnist, in 1996. “There were those well-placed in our government who were determined to have a final solution for the race issue in this country — not unlike Hitler’s ‘Final Solution’ for Jews 50 years earlier in Germany. I wrote this and documented it. It caused the Nixon White House to say to Newsweek in effect, ‘Don’t come back until you are rid of him.’ “

Yette charged that he had become “unacceptable on the scene” as a correspondent for Newsweek as a result of the book, and filed suit. He was represented by Clifford L. Alexander, former chairman of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission who went on to become secretary of the Army, consultant and board member at Fortune 500 companies and interim chairman and CEO of Dun & Bradstreet.

“I don’t mean to be pejorative or vindictive when I say this,” Yette said at a 1972 news conference, “but had I been a nigger instead of Black, a spy instead of a reporter, a tool instead of a man, I could have stayed at Newsweek indefinitely,” Jet magazine reported.

In 1956, Yette became a reporter for the Afro-American newspaper. He covered several major civil rights events, including the 1957 march on Washington and numerous events organized by the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Southern Christian Leadership Conference.

In the mid-1980s, Mr. Yette started his own publishing firm, Cottage Books, and reprinted his book in 1982. He released a book in 1984 titled “Washington and Two Marches, 1963 & 1983: The Third American Revolution,” a photographic journey of the civil rights movement written and photographed in collaboration with his son, Frederick.

Even though Samuel Yette was also one of the first and very distinguished Black journalists to work for Newsweek, after he published his book, The Choice” which exposed high level attempts of Black Genocide through birth control , abortion, and additional means , he was fired by Newsweek. Yette claims his superiors told him that the “Nixon Whitehouse” wanted him out of Washington.

In One chapter on Birth Control

Yette exposes President Nixon’s White House Conference on Food and Nutrition of December 2-4, 1969. In Mr. Yette’s words it, “was worse than a farce.” President Nixon opened the conference with 3 recommendations designed to reduce the number of hungry people! He suggested no measures for the relief of hunger in America.

1. He wanted everyone to have a guaranteed minimum income of $1,600 a year. (This is less than welfare was paying at that time.)
2. A supposed expansion of the food stamp program that would be tied into and compliment the welfare reform package in #1. (His plan would have actually reduced the amount of food stamps. Less money + less food =more hunger.)
3. Provide family planning services to at minimum 5 million women in low-income families.

This last proposal was part of a plan formulated by Dr. Charles Lowe of the National Institute of Health. The plan recommended Congress pass a law that:

1. Made birth control information and devices available to any and all girls over the age of 13 with or without parental consent.
2. Allowed mandatory abortions for unmarried girls within the 1st three months of pregnancy.
3. Mandatory sterilization for any unmarried girl giving birth out of wedlock for the 2nd time.

In that book, Yette describes how civil rights activist, Mrs. Fannie Lou Hamer was at that Conference on hunger. When she heard about the birth control proposals she grabbed about a dozen young black men, walked into the room, and demanded to be heard. She spoke about ten minutes on the evil results of this plan and the conference dropped it from consideration.

THE COVER BLOWN:

According to Samuel Yette, Black Civil Right Advocate Mrs. Fannie Lou Hamerhad a passion for her people and her interest and understanding of how powerful the political process was in America led her and others to create the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party to challenge the Credential Committee in Atlantic City, New Jersey in 1964 to be seated rather than the regular Democrats who they exclaimed were “illegally elected” based on discriminatory practices against blacks statewide. “We Will Not Accept The Compromise”, stated Mrs. Hamer.

” It is still a society in which an injured man must show his ability to pay before getting hospital services, but his daughter or wife can be aborted or fed birth control pills, at public expense…For these and other reasons the recent death of Mrs. Fannie Lou Hamer …was noted here and across the nation not only with personal sadness, but also with stern political reflection.

When the charades of Richard Nixon included a White House Conference on hunger in 1969, Mrs. Hamer was among the hundreds of authentic grass-roots persons brought here to confir with the highly paid experts.

But the conference (whose name was changed from a conference on hunger to a conference on “Food and Nutrition”) was in reality, one great fraud against the poor.

Instead of seeking ways to feed the hungry, the back stage plan was to get the poor unwittingly to endorse a plan to eliminate from the society those who were hungry.

For example, a panel of medical experts pretended to be studying was to insure proper nourishment for babies and pregnant women. Instead it adopted-in the name of the poor at the conference- a resolution providing for:

– Birth Control devices for young girls, free, and with or without parental approval;

– Required abortions of unmarried girls discovered during the first three months of pregnancy; and

– Forced sterilization of any such girl giving birth out of wedlock a second time.

Only one black person-a nurse-was a member of that panel.

Yette continues, In my reportorial role, I found Mrs. Hamer for a reaction to the newly passed resolution.

She responded with shock and outrage at the deception, “I didn’t come to talk about birth control, ” she protested, ” I came here to get some food to feed poor, hungry people, Where are they carrying on that kind of talk?”

Hearing the location of the panel, she gamely pulled herself up on a cane, and made her way to the panel’s meeting room. Along the way she beckoned several black men, who followed seriously intent on doing her will.

She went straight to the front of the room and demanded to be heard.

With the power and conviction of personal tragedy, she told how she, herself, had once been sterilized under the guise of an unrelated surgical procedure. She told how such tools as their resolution in the hands of racist medical personnel would mean tragedy for the black and poor.

Finally, with several large black men at her side, Mrs. Hamer demanded that the resolution be reconsidered. It was, and voted down. But she could not stand and watch forever.

Though she saw the deception and illuminated the society’s most immoral contradictions , she, like the hope and moral vigor of he 1960’s ran out…

The author of the tribute above, Mr. Samuel Yette also suffered persecution for exposing the sinister plot to exterminate blacks with population control methods.

Planned Parenthood’s list of “Bad Apples” may not be so “isolated” !

News of the recent firing of a Planned Parenthood manager in New Jersey, after being caught on tape advising a man posing as a sex trafficker on how to get treatment for underage girls, makes it appear that the organization only has one “bad apple” in their network of abortion clinics. The National Planned Parenthood Federation acted swiftly to put out the fires and try and establish that they had only “One bad apple” and it was taken care of.

We were profoundly shocked when we viewed the videotape,” said Phyllis Kinsler, CEO of Planned Parenthood of Central New Jersey. The employee, she said, had behaved in a “repugnant manner that is inconsistent with our standards of care and is completely unacceptable.”

In the tape, released by the anti-abortion activist group Live Action, an employee identified as Amy Woodruff, an office manager, tells the man and his female companion to encourage 14-year-old girls to say they’re older to avoid triggering additional reporting requirements.

For the most part, we want as little information as possible,” she said in the video. Asked whether 14-year-olds could get abortions at the clinic, Woodruff suggested the man take the girls to another clinic where “their protocols are not as strict as ours.”

Sound Familiar, it should, in 2008, after the same group of undercover journalists stung Planned Parenthood an Indiana Planned Parenthood was forced to suspend a counselor shown advising what she thought was a 13-year-old girl to cross state lines for an abortion without informing her parents — and without the clinic following the law to notify authorities of sexual abuse of a minor:

Betty Cockrum, Planned Parenthood of Indiana’s president and CEO, issued a statement saying the assistant violated the group’s policies on reporting abuse. (Really, just one “Bad Apple, huh?” )

Blaming the journalists Planned Parenthood laments, “While this video was altered and edited from its original form, it is clear the actions by the employee in question were unacceptable. A thorough internal review of this matter has taken place and the health center assistant shown in the video is no longer employed by PPIN,” the statement said. (So here we go, caught red handed, they throw another employee under the bus, that is “One bad Apple” …or is that now Two, I can’t keep count !)

Planned Parenthood of Indiana did not identify the aide.

State law requires sexual acts between an adult and a child younger than 14 to be reported to police or child welfare officials. In the December 2008 videos, the Mona Lisa Project exposed two Planned Parenthood clinics in Indiana. As public scrutiny mounted, both clinics either fired or suspended employees, and state prosecutors launched investigations into Planned Parenthood of Indiana.

But wait…it continues. Two more Planned Parenthood clinics in Phoenix, AZ were caught on tape concealing statutory rape. In a developing multi-state child abuse scandal, these are a continuation of Planned Parenthood clinics implicated. Employees deliberately neglect their legal obligations to report statutory rape, and instead offer secret abortions. No word whether Planned Parenthood fired those bad apples or not.

And in Alabama, a Planned Parenthood counselor in Birmingham was caught on hidden camera telling an alleged 14-year-old statutory rape victim that the clinic “does sometimes bend the rules a little bit” rather than report sexual abuse to state authorities. This is the seventh Planned Parenthood clinic implicated in a multi-state child abuse scandal involving the deliberate and unlawful suppression of evidence of statutory rape.

After telling the counselor that her “boyfriend” is 31, Rose asks, “Is it a problem about my boyfriend?” The counselor, identified as “Tanisha” in the video, responds, “As long as you consented to having sex with him, there’s nothing we can truly do about that.” Rose then says that her boyfriend “said he could get in big trouble,” and Tanisha acknowledges that “he could, especially if your parents find out that he’s 31.” She then tells Rose that the clinic manager, OB/GYN Dr. Desiree Bates, “sometimes does bend the rules a little bit” and states that “whatever you tell us stays within these walls” and “we can’t disclose any information to anybody.”

However, Alabama code 26-14-3 requires health professionals to disclose suspected cases of sexual abuse to state officials immediately.

When to ‘bend the rules a little‘ means hiding a case of statutory rape from Child Protective Services and looking for ways around the parental consent requirement, Planned Parenthood becomes directly responsible for ensuring that statutory rapists can continue their abuse of young girls,” Rose said.

(I must ask Planned Parenthood, what happened to THAT Bad Apple? )

The Associated Press has reported that Planned Parenthood of Birmingham has been placed on probation, not by Planned Parenthood but by state health officials.

From the article, Alabama health officials have put the Bir­mingham clinic of Planned Parenthood of Alabama on a year-long probation after an inspection revealed multiple problems, in­cluding not adequately verifying parental consent from minors getting abortions and not reporting a potential case of child sexual abuse.

Planned Parenthood of Alabama en­tered into an agreement with the health department promising to deliver, a plan to correct its deficiencies.

And here’s is the apology, right on target….”We take concerns about the quality of our services seriously, and we have en­tered into an agreement with the state out­lining steps we will take to assure that all of the state’s concerns are addressed,” said Felicia Brown-Williams, spokeswo­man for Planned Parenthood of Alabama.

Jumping back to 2011, after this undercover sting video was released in New York, Planned Parenthood announced they would be “Retraining staff”

According to Yahoo News – Health care provider Planned Parenthood will retrain employees who deal with patients in how to report potential risks to minors, following the release of secretly recorded videotapes by an anti-abortion group that alleges they show clinic staff counseling a man posing as a pimp for underage prostitutes.

Planned Parenthood, said it was changing its disciplinary policy to termination in all proved cases in which there has been a failure to report. The policy previously included punishments such as leave without pay and retraining. With the announcement, Planned Parenthood hoped to blunt the public impact of what it called a misleading ( THERE IT IS – THE PATTERN OF BLAME THE JOURNALISTS***) string of covertly taped videos being released by Live Action, an anti-abortion group. On the videotapes, Planned Parenthood employees are heard telling a man who says he runs a “sex business” how to get medical care and abortions for under-age prostitutes.

Federation spokesman Stuart Schear emphasized that the training was not new ( WOW – NOT NEW….I GUESS THE TRAINING MUST HAVE BEEN WORKING???) but was meant as a refresher. He said training will follow state laws where affiliates have clinics.

We want to be crystal clear for those millions of people who come to us and trust us that we will never put a minor at risk,” he said.

But…is this isolated…and why does Planned Parenthood keep getting caught covering for perverts, sexual abusers and pimps? Does Planned Parenthood “care about minors?”

NO – It is NOT isolated. In fact, Several years ago, Mark Crutcher of Life Dynamics spent months preparing an exhaustive report on the questionable activities Planned Parenthood pursues. The response to the tapes and the report, which became public in early 2002, was silence from most legislators and the vast majority of the media and of course Planned Parenthood. In 2008, Live Action released the recording of a call to an Idaho Planned Parenthood Director of Development in which the caller pretended to be a racist donor who wanted to reduce the number of black people. The Planned Parenthood employee said she was “excited” to take the donation.

After the video was released, Planned Parenthood of Idaho officials “fixed” the bad press they were receiving for the racist donations, by issuing an apology for what they called an employee’s “serious mistake” in encouraging a donation aimed at aborting black babies.

They also criticized the group, for trying to discredit Planned Parenthood employees in seven states in a series of tape-recorded phone calls last summer. ( I can see a pattern developing: apologize, say it is one bad apple and blame the journalists? )

The call to Idaho came to Autumn Kersey, vice president of development and marketing for Planned Parenthood of Idaho.

On the recording an actor portraying a donor said he wanted his money used to eliminate black unborn children because “the less black kids out there the better.

Kersey laughed nervously and said: “Understandable, understandable. … Excuse my hesitation, this is the first time I’ve had a donor call and make this kind of request, so I’m excited and want to make sure I don’t leave anything out.”

In like manner to the other “Incidents”, Planned Parenthood of Idaho “firmly and unequivocally” denounced racial bias, admitted making a mistake and said the group had taken corrective action.

Sounding a bit familiar and true to the pattern, Planned Parenthood stated, “A fundraising employee violated the organization’s principles and practices when she appeared to be willing to accept a racially motivated donation,” said CEO Rebecca Poedy in a written statement. “We apologize for the manner in which this offensive call was handled. We take full responsibility for the actions of the fundraising staff member who created the impression that racism of any form would be tolerated at Planned Parenthood. We took swift action to ensure that each of our employees understands their responsibility to communicate clearly with donors about the fact that we believe in helping all individuals, regardless of gender, race, or sexual orientation, make informed decisions about their reproductive health care.”

The next day The Idaho Statement granted Planned Parenthood adequate space to make a further statement, ” Planned Parenthood adamantly rejects racist policies or practices…That’s why it is so disturbing to hear a secretly tapes conversation between a racist caller and a Planned Parenthood staff member which leaves the erroneous impression that the organization accepts racist donations…In Idaho an employee made a serious mistake when she appeared to be complicit in the donor’s racist request.” [WAIT FOR IT…] ” Planned Parenthood took swift corrective action and instituted a proactive initiative to help the staff respond to people who call with offensive agenda.”

Then the Planned Parenthood spokesman continued, and this is where they make the all to often heard “Isolated Incident” claim, “This employee had an exemplary record with PPI and feels absolutely awful. The statements in the recording absolutely do not represent how we or the employee feel. However, this is a serious matter and the employee has been suspended pending further investigation.”

And then in typical pattern Planned Parenthood blames the journalists,”We decry these smear tactics, which work against the public good and even give a bad name to those who oppose us through legitimate means. There is a continuum of behavior by extremists ranging from unethical deception to outright violence to use any means necessary to attack Planned Parenthood, and this behavior should not be rewarded. “

But…is it true that this was an “Isolated Incident”? Well…would Planned Parenthood lie?

Let look back as far as the 1980’s when, Faye Wattelton, a former President of Planned Parenthood herself admitted that Planned Parenthood takes RACIST DONATIONS. It was an admission she made in an interview on CNN.

Go to 52 seconds of this segment of the powerful documentary Maafa21 and listen to Wattleton admit that Planned Parenthood knowingly takes racist donations: Be sure to listen further to what another Planned Parenthood President admitted to (Alan Guttmacher) :

Couple this with the admission by Planned Parenthood’s founder: Margaret Sanger –that she was invited over a dozen times to speak to the racist KLAN after giving at least one speech to them. She admitted this in her autobiography and to this day, Planned Parenthood has named their top award the “Margaret Sanger Award.”
But…what do Planned Parenthood’s employees have to say about their alleged “racism”, let’s look at the case below:

Case of LaMarilyn FADEYI v.PLANNED PARENTHOOD ASSOCIATION OF LUBBOCK, INC.,

Defendant Fadeyi is a black female who was employed by Planned Parenthood for seven years. She alleges that Planned Parenthood engaged in various acts of racial discrimination against her during the course of her employment, ranging from discriminatory scheduling and distribution of office resources to the executive director’s giving her and another black employee an application for membership in the Ku Klux Klan. Fadeyi filed complaints with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Texas Commission on Human Rights, but both dismissed her complaints for lack of jurisdiction because Planned Parenthood had fewer than 15 employees at all relevant times. Planned Parenthood fired Fadeyi two working days after receiving notification that the EEOC did not have jurisdiction to entertain her complaints.

Fadeyi then brought suit in district court under § 1981, alleging racial discrimination in her employment and termination. Planned Parenthood filed a motion for summary judgment, arguing that Fadeyi’s claim should fail because she could not show the existence of a contract, an essential element in a § 1981 action. The district court agreed and granted Planned Parenthood’s motion. Fadeyi timely filed this appeal.

Congress, through the Civil Rights Act of 1991, amended § 1981 to add a broad definition of the phrase “make and enforce contracts,” which includes “the making, performance, modification, and termination of contracts, and the enjoyment of all benefits, privileges, terms, and conditions of the contractual relationship.”. Fadeyi argued that Congress intended to reach the very conduct that plagued her at Planned Parenthood during her employment and in her termination.

The district court, however, dismissed Fadeyi’s complaint, concluding that, as an at-will employee, Fadeyi had no “contract” of employment on which to base a claim under § 1981. Under well-established Texas law, the employer may, absent a specific agreement to the contrary, terminate an employee for good cause, bad cause, or no cause at all.

The court ruled against Planned Parenthood and ordered the case a :REVERSED AND REMANDED. They wrote, “We therefore conclude that the district court erred in granting summary judgment to Planned Parenthood solely on the basis that Fadeyi had no contract on which her § 1981 claims could rest. Accordingly, we reverse the judgment of the district court and remand for further proceedings consistent with this opinion.

Another Lawsuit [PDF] against the Planned Parenthood/Chicago Area brought by a PP/CA nursed who was fired by PP/CA Associate Medical director Darryn Dunbar. The nurse accuses Dunbar of anti-Semitism and of trying to increase his power and status at PPCA eliminating persons connected to Dr. Pelta.

Among her complaints, the nurse charges that PP failed to ensure the presence of an anesthesiologist, licensed physician or registered nurse in or around the recovery room when sedation patients are present, and that unlicensed employees were performing ultrasounds.

Dunbar fired Chesis on April 10, 2007. Her lawsuit included accusations and counter accusations. Mind you, these were alleged by PP employees, not pro-lifers:

1). “… changing dates on ultrasounds so that patients would have to pay a higher price for abortion services. …”
2). “… failure to ensure the presence of an anesthesiologist, licensed physician or registered nurse in or around the recovery room when sedation patients are present. …”
3). “… unlicensed employees with no medical training were performing improper ultrasounds and were making ultrasound diagnoses. …”
4). “… prescrib[ing] Depo-Provera to a patient with a history of depression” with the counter claim that “prescribing of Depo-Provera to patients with depressive orders is not prohibited. …”

Employees also sued Planned Parenthood/Chicago Area and PP/CA CEO Steve Tombley.

In one suit, Dr. Murray Pelta, O.B. Gyn, medical director at PP/CA for ten years, is suing Planned Parenthood and its CEO Steve Trombley for firing him in violation of his employment agreement.

In his Verified Complaint [PDF], Pelta states that he did favors for Trombley, like writing “discreet” medial prescriptions for Trombley’s personal use, without recording or reporting them.

Pelta listed the following revelation as the reason for his termination, a fitting term:

In January 2007, a pregnant former PP/CA board member and current PP/CA employee asked Dr. Pelta to perform a confidential abortion upon her. She stated that, for various reasons, she wanted to avoid disclosing her pregnancy to other PP/CA board members and employees.
Although Dr. Pelta initially advised her to go through proper channels, she persisted and, in large part because of her position as a former PP/CA board member and current PP/CA employee, Dr. Pelta finally relented.

The woman specifically requested that Dr. Pelta keep the procedure a secret and not make a PP/CA record of the abortion. Dr. Pelta had maintained such confidentiality for abortion services provided to other PP/CA board members that, at their request, he kept confidential and did not record.

In light of these factors, Dr. Pelta agreed to the woman’s request. On or about Jan. 19, 2007, Dr. Pelta successfully performed the procedure without complications. He did not charge the woman, nor did he receive any benefit for performing the abortion.

In Washington, D.C., the family of 13-year-old Shantese Butler filed a $50 million suit against Planned Parenthood after a botched abortion left the girl permanently injured and infertile. The abortion involved a teenager who was a victim of rape and the abortion left her with significant medical problems.

Emma Jean Butler took her daughter Shantese Butler to Planned Parenthood Metropolitan on September 7, 2006 for an abortion after Shantese was a victim of sexual assault.

According to the lawsuit, Shantese Butler sustained significant physical damage as a result of the abortion.

The abortion resulted in severe abdominal bleeding, severe vaginal injury, severe injury to the cervix, significant uterine perforation, and a small bowel tear. As a result of the injuries, Butler will be unable to have biological children the rest of her life.Students for Life of America reports that Shantese was left with “severe abdominal bleeding, severe vaginal injury, severe injury to the cervix, significant uterine perforation and a small bowel tear.” In addition, parts of the unborn child were found inside Shantese’s abdomen.

In Nebraska, Planned Parenthood refused to disclose the terms of a settlement with another victim whose botched abortion resulted in a perforated uterus, massive blood loss, an emergency hysterectomy, permanent infertility, seizures, and lifelong pain and suffering. According to the suit obtained by Life News, the woman instructed the abortionist and his assistants to stop, but was told: “We can’t stop.” The Planned Parenthood employees held her down to complete the procedure.

• In an article by Rita Diller called: Missing Millions: which ran in the Washington Post, Diller’s investigations reveals that audits from the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) investigating Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s (PPFA) show the organization, which gets billions in tax payer money, spent just $657.1 million between 2002 and 2008 from federal government grants and programs, but Planned Parenthood’s own annual reports show that it took in $2.3 billion from government grants and programs during the same time period. PPFA expenditures of federal money average just 32 % of its government income from 2002 through 2008. Diller asks, where are the Missing Millions? Okay- where are they…so far no one including our own US Government will force Planed Parenthood to answer that question. That’s your money and mine !

*Former Lufkin clinic employee alleges fraud in suit against Planned Parenthood Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast is a defendant in a federal lawsuit after a former Lufkin clinic employee alleged a multi-million-dollar billing scheme. The complaint names Karen Reynolds as the whistle-blower in the allegations brought against her former employer of 10 years. The updated complaint, filed in October 2011, alleges that while Reynolds was employed as a health center assistant, she was instructed by the organization to maximize billing revenue when the government was fitting the bill through Medicaid and the Women’s Health Program.

WA.: Planned Parenthood of the Inland Northwest will pay the state $345,000 after settling a 2009 audit that uncovered the clinic used incorrect codes and provided insufficient documentation for some claims billed to Medicaid. During that time, the clinic collected about $7.6 million from Medicaid.
