KFOX14 Investigates uncovers new documents alleging the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso is buying aborted fetal tissue for research, fetal tissue that may be linked to Planned Parenthood abortions.

From their report:

A Houston-based attorney, Briscoe Cain, said he obtained the information from a Freedom of Information request. He said he found evidence of four Texas medical schools purchasing fetal tissue from a California bioscience company.

TTUHSC El Paso is among those listed as purchasing fetal tissue from Advanced Bioscience Resource Center.

Cain claims the tissue could be coming from abortions at Planned Parenthood because Planned Parenthood gives fetuses to ABR.

“What can be said that tissue purchased from ABR is from aborted babies,” said Cain.

Documents given to KFOX14 Investigates show TTUHSC allegedly purchased parts of fetuses from ABR.

Invoices from ABR to TTUHSC show the school paid at least $4,000- $5,000 for fetal parts/tissue.

The invoices are dated in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and make reference to 2015 requests.

The school allegedly purchased fetal livers, spleens and thymuses (it’s a gland in the base of the neck).

Emails between the researchers and ABR make reference to their specific requests and process for shipping.

KFOX14 Investigates asked the school what type of research the fetus parts were used for, but did not receive a response.

In the e-mails obtained, researchers reference using the tissue for “a humanized mouse.”

“The research being done is humanized mice. Scientists inject the mouse with fetal tissue so the mouse is genetically altered to accept the graphing of human tissue,” said Cain.

Cain represents the activists that made secret recordings involving Planned Parenthood in Houston. His clients now face charges of tampering with a government record.

But Cain claims this new discovery of documents brings to question the link between Planned Parenthood abortions and Texas medical schools.

“Public universities who receive tax dollars are using the tax dollars to purchase these babies’ parts,” said Cain.

KFOX14 asked TTUHSC for an interview and whether it was aware the aborted tissue may be coming from Planned Parenthood.

KFOX14 also asked how the school funds those purchases and how much money has been spent buying fetal parts.

TTUHSC did not answer those questions but sent a statement.

“Research at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso is committed to strictly following all federal and state guidelines. The physicians and scientists at TTUHSC El Paso respect and cherish life. They work tirelessly toward treating patients, as well as developing and finding effective treatments and cures for human diseases,” said Dr. Peter Rotwein, the assistant vice president for research at TTUHSC El Paso.

It is against federal law to sell human fetal tissue for profit. Tissue can be donated with the woman’s consent.

Planned Parenthood has claimed it does not sell parts of fetuses but does donate them.

Some scientists and universities have been working with fetal tissue for years, explaining that it provides invaluable information about the beginning stages of cells.

Cain said his clients next step is to “pass legislation prohibiting the purchase of fetal tissue in Texas.”

Gov. Greg Abbott has pledged to support any legislation to prohibit the use of fetal tissue for research.

According to Operation Rescue:

Many of the documents and e-mails released by Cain were signed by Melissa Farrell, Director of Research for Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast in Houston, Texas, the same Planned Parenthood official who appeared in the fifth video released by the CMP on August 4, 2015.

The invoices that originated from Planned Parenthood divided their bills into two general categories. First was the “reimbursement for study supplies” which appear to be costs related to the fetal tissue. Reimbursement for hard costs is allowable under the law.

The second was “consent payments,” which appears to be a designation where Planned Parenthood ‘hid’ the profit. This payment would be illegal.

In a statement released yesterday, Daleiden explained how Farrell indicated to him how she could cover up the payments or aborted baby specimens in order to make them look like expenses.

“Farrell admitted on camera to undercover investigators that PPGC ‘worded’ the per-specimen charges for fetal specimens as ‘per consent’ in order to ‘frame’ the project budget in a way that will look legal ‘on paper,’” stated Daleiden.

Rampant bacteria + staff problems in abortion clinics says StemExpress CEO calling Planned Parenthood a “volume institution” in baby parts harvesting

The Center for Medical Progress’ eighth video centers on a conversation they have in a public place with Stem Express CEO Cate Dyer. The company was originally operated out of Dyer’s home in rural El Dorado County until she grew it into a very lucrative a multi-million dollar company located in a 19,000-square-foot building in downtown Placerville.

I got really comfortable with tissue and organs,” Dyer once said.

The fetal tissue procurement company tried unsuccessfully to get a restraining order against the pro-life group to censor their first amendment right to release this footage.

On August 21, a California judge lifted a temporary restraining order, and today CMP showed what it had.

In this video release, the CEO of StemExpress expresses an interest in fetal livers which she claims they get a lot of requests for.

“Specifically liver tissue because that’s such an area of demand for us,” Dyer says.

Cate Dyer STem Express Fetal Liver Planned Parenthood

According to CMP, StemExpress, LLC, is a major buyer of fetal tissue from Planned Parenthood which tells the actors that she gets a lot of requests for baby livers. This is reflective in what StemExpress advertises on their website and in a Stem Express catalog that has since been removed.

But, a cached version still exists. For that reason, the screen grabs will look a little distorted than if the actual PDF was available.

Strem Express Catalogue

In the 2013-2014 Stem Express Catalog, owner Cate Dyer, CEO brags that they are the largest provider of fetal tissue globally:

A current (2015) screen grab off the Stem Express fetal liver order page on their website shows how lucrative the selling of human baby livers can be:

Stem Express Fetal Liver costs 2015

More on this here.

Ironically, when Dyer was asked by CMP what amount of fetal body parts would keep her lab happy she responded, “another 50 livers a week” would not be enough.

Cate Dyer volume for us abortion fetal liver PLanned Parenthood CMP

“I mean it’s you know volume for us,” Dyer points out.

“We’re working with almost like triple digit number clinics. So it’s a lot of volume – and we still need more…it’s a lot. So I don’t think you’re going to hit capacity with us anytime in the next ten years,” she added.

She later notes, “Planned Parenthood has volume, because they are a volume institution.”

PLANNED PARENTHOOD SUPPORT:

Cecile RIchards Planned Parenthood ABC

Stem Express said they terminated their relationship with Planned Parenthood after CMP began exposing the depraved baby parts operation weeks ago. However, in this conversation with StemExpress CEO Cate Dyer, Vice President of Corporate Development and Legal Affairs Kevin Cooksy, and Procurement Manager Megan Barr they admit getting lots of support from Planned Parenthood.

Asked if they feel supported from Planned Parenthood prez Cecile Richards and Planned Parenthood Federation of America Senior Director of Medical Services, Dr. Deborah Nucatola who once admitted she would “crush above” or “crush below” the unborn child to protect the specific baby organ she wanted to procure, Dyer responded, “Oh yeah everyone at PPFA [Planned Parenthood Federation of America] and the affiliates.”

INTACT FETUSES
Cate Dyer intact cases fetal Planned Parenthood Stem Express

As shocking as it should sound, Dyer admits the company gets “a lot” of intact fetuses.

“Oh yeah, I mean if you had intact cases, which we’ve done a lot. We sometimes ship those back to our lab in its entirety…So, that would also be great if you have those. Because, again the procurement for us I mean it can go really sideways depending on the facility and then our samples are destroyed and we’re like “really?” This was all so much work and then just to have them be destroyed is awful.”

STAFF AND BACTERIA IN CLINICS:

Cate Fyer Rampant bacteria abortion clinics planned parenthood CMP

In addition to her admission of procuring intact fetuses which implied the baby might have been aborted alive, and allowed to die a violation of federal law, Dyer says that there are bacterial problems inside many clinics.

I’ve seen really rampant – Rampant problems with bacteria in certain clinics. Some where you’re kind of like in question of really should they, really you know.

“I’ve seen staff in certain clinics. I mean I’ve seen all sorts of things come out of clinics,” she said.

FINANCIALLY BENEFICIAL

Stem Express financial profit Planned Parenthood

Dyer also agrees that payments to abortion clinics for fetal body parts should be financially beneficial to them. It is a violation of federal law to sell human fetal baby parts for profit.

The Stem Express CEO asks CMP who she thinks are buyers for a Biotech firm, if they think there are [abortion] clinics out that have been burned, or feel like they’re doing work for research and that isn’t profitable for them.

And then she responds, “I don’t see that either…I haven’t seen that.”

Stem Express financial benefit Planned Parenthood 1

StemExpress publishes a flyer for Planned Parenthood clinics that promises “Financial Profits” and “fiscal rewards” for clinics that supply aborted fetal tissue. It is endorsed by Planned Parenthood Mar Monte Chief Medical Officer Dr. Dorothy Furgerson.

CHOPPING UP BABIES NOT FOR EVERYONE:

Dyer also reveals that the aborted baby body parts industry is not for everyone:

“So many physicians are like, ‘Oh I can totally procure tissue,’ and they can’t,” she tells CMP, seeming to indicate that abortion doctors must do the procedure in a special way to obtain useable fetal parts. Federal law requires that no alteration in the timing or method of abortion be done for the purposes of fetal tissue collection (42 U.S.C. 289g-1).

ACADEMIC LABS FREAK OUT ABOUT FETAL BODY PARTS:

StemExPress CSU abortion tissue fetal

In the video, Dyer notes that many academic labs do not like to get fetal body parts because they look like babies.

It’s almost like they don’t want to know where it comes from,” she tells CMP.

“Where they’re like, we need limbs but no hands and feet need to be attached.”

“They want you to take it all off, like, ‘make it so that we don’t know what it is,’ ” she said.

“But, we know what it is,
    ” she said nervously giggling.

And, they’re lab techs freak out and have meltdowns,

The Stem Express head points out that many of the lab techs at Universities get into other areas of research do they don’t have to publish papers admitting they used fetal tissue.

SHIPPING ISSUES FOR FETAL TISSUE BODY PARTS

Dyer notes that fetal tissue is very fragile calling it “insanely fragile.”

“It’s the hardest thing in the world to ship
,” she says.

In speaking about intact fetal heads, Dyer jokes, “Tell the lab it’s coming so they don’t open the box and go Oh God!”

StemExpress is a for-profit biotech supply company that has been partnered with Planned Parenthood clinics across the country to purchase human fetal parts since its founding in 2010. StemExpress’ Medical Director, Dr. Ronald Berman, is an abortion doctor for Planned Parenthood Mar Monte.

The sale or purchase of human fetal tissue is a federal felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison or a fine of up to $500,000 (42 U.S.C. 289g-2). The Sacramento Business Journal reported in June that StemExpress has an annual revenue of $4.5 million.

The video is the eighth released by The Center for Medical Progress in its investigative journalism study of Planned Parenthood’s sale of aborted baby parts.

A response to the video published by Planned Parenthood on Twitter claims the claims are fake:

Planned Parenthood responds to StemEXpress CMP Vid

“StemExpress is the ‘weakest link’ that unravels Planned Parenthood’s baby parts chain–they readily admit the profit-motive that Planned Parenthood and their proxies have in supplying aborted baby parts,” notes David Daleiden, Project Lead for CMP.

Congress and law enforcement should immediately seize all fetal tissue files from StemExpress and all communications and contracts with Planned Parenthood. The evidence that Planned Parenthood profits from the sale of aborted baby parts is now overwhelming, and not one more dime of taxpayer money should go to their corrupt and fraudulent criminal enterprise.”

Stem Express responded to the video by issuing a statement which reads in part:

STem Express signIn a “preview” video released immediately following the court’s ruling, the criminal defendants claim StemExpress “admitted” to receiving “intact fetuses” from Planned Parenthood. However, a cursory review of the unedited video or transcript reveals that the entire conversation was unequivocally discussing “intact” fetal livers, which are used by StemExpress for the development of isolated cells that are urgently needed by scientists and medical researchers working to cure cancer, diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease. In fact, CMP itself has previously acknowledged that this portion of the conversation refers solely to fetal livers, but nonetheless continues to lodge unsupported false accusations at StemExpress.

StemExpress’s CEO, Cate Dyer, added the following personal response to these latest allegations:

Cate Fyer of Stem Express fetal body parts Consistent with the company’s prior public statements, StemExpress has never requested, received or provided to a researcher an ‘intact fetus.’ CMP’s and Daleiden’s continued lies reflect a sad attempt to malign StemExpress and me personally. As anyone can see and read, the entire discussion was, in fact, about ‘intact livers,’ which are used by StemExpress to develop and purify isolated cells used by our customers to support their critical scientific research. My use of the term ‘intact cases’ is a medical term of art that refers solely to ‘intact livers,’ as there was absolutely no mention of ‘intact fetuses’ at any point in over two hours of illegally recorded video.”

StemExpress vows to pursue a claim of damages against CMP and David Daleiden for what they describe as, “their illegal conduct.”

Planned Parenthood uses aborted baby parts for humanized mice research

H/T to blogger Jill Stanek who points out that some of the requested “fetal cadavers” from Planned Parenthood in Houston are for experimentation with humanized mice. #humanizedmice .

The Center for Medical Progress released a 5th video showing the nation’s largest Planned Parenthood abortion facility offering intact fetal cadavers which they refer to as “specimens.”

Center for Medical Progress, posing as buyers for a Biotech company sat with the Director of Research for Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, Melissa Farrell, at the abortion-clinic headquarters of Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast in Houston, Texas.

CMP’s 5th video transcript implies Planned Parenthood is using the aborted babies for “mice” studies and “Humanized mice”.

_______________________________________________________________________

An article published in Science in the News a Harvard Graduate Student Group at the Harvard Graduate School of the Arts and Sciences explains humanized mice:

Humanized mice are otherwise ordinary breeds of lab mice that have human cells, tissues, or organs. These types of mice are frequently used by immunologists, who give the mice a mostly-human immune system, but they can also be used to study other body systems. This permits researchers to study different aspects of human biology and the effects of certain drugs or disease treatments using experiments that would otherwise be unethical to conduct on a human being and don’t have safer substitutes.

How are mice humanized?

Fetal liver and thymus tissue used as well something Stem Express gets big bucks for

The process of humanizing mice requires the transfer of 17-19 week old human fetal tissue into young mice, 6-8 weeks of age, with weakened immune systems. If a mouse with a normal immune system received human tissue, it would start to reject the tissue immediately after the transfer because its immune system would recognize the added tissue as foreign. This process, graft rejection, also happens in humans who receive incompatible organ transplants. Therefore, researchers use mice with a genetically weakened immune system for the humanization procedure. These genetically immunosuppressed mice tolerate the presence of foreign human tissue for long enough to conduct experiments [].

    Capture

Because a mouse’s body is full of its own immune cells, it is essential to remove these cells to create “space” for the human immune cells to populate. To do this, the mice are subjected to a sub-lethal dose of irradiation. Next, to create a niche where the cells can be constantly replenished, the scientists make a small surgical incision to implant human fetal liver and thymus tissue underneath the mouse’s kidney. Finally, human stem cells are injected directly into the mouse’s blood. 17-20 weeks after this procedure, the reconstitution is considered complete when the cells have divided sufficiently to populate their “home” in the mouse’s body. A number of variations to the technique can be introduced depending on the experimental question that needs to be addressed, but most labs follow this general procedure.

These details from the Jackson Laboratory talk about, “engrafting human CD34+ hematopoietic stem cells (hHSCs) alone (hu-CD34 NSG™) or in combination with human fetal thymus and liver tissue transplanted under the kidney capsule.”

But, according to their website, the Jackson Laboratory was founded in 1929 as The Roscoe B. Jackson Memorial Laboratory by Clarence Cook Little an advocate of eugenics.

Little created the first inbred (genetically uniform) mouse strains and wanted to use them experimentally to establish that cancer was a genetic disease, not an infectious disorder, as was widely thought at the time. He gained initial financial support for the Laboratory from Detroit industrialists Edsel Ford, president of the Ford Motor Company, and Roscoe B. Jackson (for whom the Laboratory is named), president of the Hudson Motorcar Company.

In a previous post, I explain how aborted baby parts are being implanted into animals and how some of those parts are coming from Stem Express, a fetal tissue procurement company used by Planned Parenthood.

The research, co-authored by Eugene Guhe founder and CEO of Ganogen, Inc., a biotech company in Redwood City, California, raises a number of ethical questions, including whether it is acceptable to use human fetal organs in research, or to transplant human organs into animals. If the research moves forward, it must be determined that the organs were obtained with proper consent, and that the research was conducted with adequate oversight, experts told CBS News.

Fetal Kidney donation

On their website, Ganogen, Inc., says that they have found a way to successfully transplant human fetal kidneys, livers, hearts, lungs, and other organs into animal hosts using advanced microsurgery.

“After transplantation, the fetal organ continues to grow and mature. It even demonstrates function, and in the case of the kidney, can keep the host animal alive all on its own,” they explain.

According to CBS, Gu and his colleagues obtained human fetal kidneys from Stem Express, a Placerville, California-based company that supplies researchers with tissue from deceased adults and fetuses.

On their website, Stem Express writes that their “human tissue products range from fetal to adult and healthy to diseased, and we also collect bone marrow and leukapheresis for isolation.”

They go on to say that, “Working with hospitals and clinics across the United States, all human tissue and blood procurement is performed in accordance with IRB-approved protocols and consents. Protecting the privacy of our researchers and donors is always the highest priority at StemExpress.
