A Metro Detroit abortionist is the subject of a Federal investigation on suspicion he performed illegal abortions.

Michael Roth

According to a local news station, police in West Bloomfield said that a search warrant was executed at the home and office of Dr. Michael Roth, a long time abortion provider in the state.

Reports indicate the case stemmed from an accident the abortionist had a few weeks prior where he allegedly hit a special needs child while driving his vehicle.

Sources confirmed to WXYZ that police found 14 containers of human tissue, possibly fetuses, medical equipment and large amounts of Fentanyl, a drug used for pain and sedation, in his car. Police impounded the vehicle where they found unlabeled plastic containers and medical equipment in the trunk.

In addition to the search warrants on the abortion doctor’s home and office, police also executed a search warrant to obtain the “black box” data recorder from the car, news sources state. The containers were taken to the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office for evaluation.

According to Lynn Mills, a local pro-life activist, Roth is a circuit rider who has worked at several Michigan abortion clinics. Mills said that although Roth had an office for many years, he also performed abortions for notorious Michigan abortionists like Jacob Kalo and Abraham Hodari.

She told said that in May of 2014, Roth moved his offices of 25 years to another location on 12 Mile Road in Novi where she immediately began notifying the building owner and tenants about the abortionist’s history.

I knew it was time to push the subject and I decided I didn’t need many people to expose Roth, ” she said.

“All I used were legal documents showing Roth’s questionable activity and substandard care.”

Mills said that in 2004 Roth was placed on probation by the State’s Bureau of Health Professions for performing abortions out of the home of one of his patients.

In 2012, the Michigan Board of Medicine issued Roth a $2,000 fine for negligence, incompetence, and lack of good moral character, after violating public health codes in two abortion procedures, and perforating a woman’s uterus.

Roth is also listed as a defendant in several abortion related lawsuits. Mills said abortion is only part of Roth’s questionable practices. He was also cited for mishandling drugs and storing them in an insecure location at his alleged weight-loss business. In 2002, the state cited Roth for improperly labeling and possession of expired drugs and also noted that his controlled substance license had not been renewed since 1981.

Mills described Roth as the atypical sleazy abortionist who is extremely nasty to pro-lifers and the media. She said that Roth has been killing unborn babies since the Rescue days of the late 1980’s. Mills also told pointed out that by the end of last year, Roth had relocated his office a total of three times.

Mills also said that last year she and several pro-lifers picketed a local Catholic Hospital where Roth had privileges. But, Mills reports, that rather than addressing why a Catholic Hospital would allow an abortionist to practice there, Providence Hospital called security on the demonstrators.

At the time of this story, Roth had not been charged with any crime in the incident although reports indicate the attorney general is looking into the case.

Mills said she will continue to follow-up until Roth’s license is revoked and he is charged with any crimes he has committed. She has urged the public to contact the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) to ask for a summary suspension of Roth’s medical license until a complete investigation can be conducted.

Mills said you can politely contact Michigan LARA at 517-373-1820.

Whole Woman’s Health abortion clinic has been in the news many times, quoted by the news media as opposing regulations by the state under Texas’ new abortion laws. The media has allowed this clinic owner to talk Amy Hagstrom Miller, about how she will be forced to close and have sympathized with her regarding regulating abortion clinics.

Yes- they remain silent about the conditions found at her clinics:

Beaumont’s only abortion clinic has been flagged on 13 violations by the Texas Department of Health.

The October 3 inspection at Whole Woman’s Health of Beaumont turned up potential health issues.

The report says the facility failed to provide a safe environment for patients and staff. The suction machines which were used on patients had numerous rusty spots which, “had the likelihood to cause infection.”

The report also says, “the facility failed to have the EKG monitoring equipment ready if an emergency situation occurred…”

The clinic was also cited for expired drugs on the premises:

This resembles conditions found at a Philadelphia abortion clinic run by convicted murderer Kermit Gosnell. The state found the following there:

EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT : NO RESCECITATION EQUIPMENT: CRASH CART/EKG
• *although Pennsylvania’s abortion regulations, 28 Pa. Code §29.31 et seq., require abortion providers to have functional resuscitation equipment and drugs “ready for use,” Gosnell had no such provisions. The clinic’s one defibrillator, the device used to help revive cardiac arrest patients, had not worked for years. There was only one suction source – the one Gosnell used for the abortion procedures – and no equipment to assist with breathing. And on February 18, 2010, three months after Karnamaya Mongar had died of an overdose of anesthesia, there was no “crash cart” with the drugs necessary to reverse the effects of just such overdoses. Had a ny of these items been present in the clinic, as the law requires, Mrs. Mongar might be alive.

• *Gosnell’s facility also lacked equipment legally mandated for monitoring sedated patients. According to Kareema Cross, the clinic owned one old electrocardiogram (EKG) machine to monitor heart rate and a pulse oximeter, an instrument that is attached to the patient’s finger and measures oxygen saturation in the blood, but these had not worked for at least six years. These instruments are the minimum equipment required to monitor patients who are sedated, according to the certified gynecologist and obstetrician who shared his expertise with the Grand Jury.

UNSTERILE CONDITIONS:

*The walls appeared to be urine-splattered. The procedure tables were old and one had a ripped plastic cover. Suction tubing, which was used for abortion procedures – and
doubled as the only available suction source for resuscitation – was corroded. A large, dirty fish tank stood in the waiting room, filled with turtles and fish. The dirt-floored
basement was stuffed with patient files, plants, junk, and boxes of un-disposed-of medical waste. The entire facility smelled foul. These were the conditions after the facility had been shut down and cleaned.

Another abortionist with filthy and dangerous clinic quits after Health Department ordered him to cease performing abortions

Pa. cites abortion clinic violations; doctor quits
Pennsylvania health officials say renewed inspections uncovered poor conditions at two Philadelphia-area abortion clinics in the months after a drug investigation revealed a “house of horrors” facility operating for years in the city.

MARK SCOLFORO Associated Press 3/10/2011
HARRISBURG, Pa. —

Pennsylvania health officials say renewed inspections uncovered poor conditions at two Philadelphia-area abortion clinics in the months after a drug investigation revealed a “house of horrors” facility operating for years in the city.

The physician who operated the two Abortion as an Alternative Inc. clinics, in Bensalem and the Germantown section of Philadelphia, received scathing reports and was ordered to suspend performing abortions.

Two days later, Dr. Soleiman M. Soli, 73, announced he would shut down the clinics instead. He then retired, according to the state Department of Health.

Soli’s operations are distinct from those of Dr. Kermit Gosnell, whose Women’s Medical Society in Philadelphia was the target of a major Philadelphia grand jury investigation. Gosnell is charged with eight counts of murder for the deaths of a woman and seven babies born alive, then fatally stabbed in the spine with scissors.

Problems at Soli’s clinics were found after Pennsylvania regulators renewed long-dormant routine inspections of free-standing abortion clinics around the state in the wake of the investigation into Gosnell and his staff.

At Soli’s clinics, the Department of Health found drugs decades past their expiration dates, inadequate or inoperable equipment, poor record-keeping and mishandling of fetal tissue.

“Dr. Soli served his patients for more than 53 years as a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist. He retired last year,” his attorney, Stanley J. Milavec Jr., said in an e-mail response. Milavec said Soli, who retired from practice Nov. 19, was not available for further comment.

An Oct. 26 inspection report of Soli’s Bensalem facility found that drugs and equipment required to resuscitate abortion patients were missing and that it took Soli and a secretary 10 minutes to figure out how to use the clinic’s oxygen tank, the mask for which was found covered in dust.

Dozens of expired drugs and medical equipment were found, some dating back decades, including Benadryl from 1970, a saline vial from 1978, progesterone from 1982 and Depo-Provera from 1989.

Sterile trays of instruments were not wrapped properly and the ultrasound machine, microscope and blood pressure cuffs had not been inspected, certified or calibrated, they said.
Soli’s medical license, first issued in 1967, expired at the end of December and he was placed on inactive status last mont
h, according to the Department of State. The agency’s Board of Medicine had no discipline history for him.

Soli received a medical doctor’s degree from Shiraz University in Iran in 1958, according to American Board of Medical Specialties records.

The Nov. 1 inspection of his Philadelphia clinic also found nonworking or missing equipment and expired pharmaceutical drugs, some that dated back to the early 1990s.

When inspectors inquired about fetal tissue samples inside a cabinet in procedure room, Soli responded that he did not know why they were there and then placed them in a trash bag for disposal, the state agency said. It was unclear how much tissue was handled that way, but the reports said it was used for microscopic examination.

The facility’s only bathroom lacked ceiling tiles, leaving the pipes exposed, inspectors said. They found Soli’s lunch was kept in the same refrigerator as the clinic’s drugs.

“Opened, uncapped needles were also observed lying directly on the floor under the cabinet with the identified medications,” inspectors said.

That was also where drugs for sterile intravenous use were stored, because Soli and his staff said they had to be hidden from neighborhood drug dealers. The inspection reports said the office had been broken into several times.

Soli told the inspectors he did not have a written transfer agreement with a hospital for emergency care, as required, but did have privileges at two hospitals.

Inspectors said Soli’s handwritten notes, in English and Arabic, were so hard to read it took him several minutes to decipher them himself.

After the inspections, the Health Department ordered him to cease performing abortions at both clinics and to file plans of correction.

The reports were provided to The Associated Press by the office of Gov. Tom Corbett more than a month after state officials disclosed the results of inspections of 22 other Pennsylvania abortion clinics following a January Right-to-Know Law request by the AP.

Corbett spokeswoman Janet Kelley said the Abortion as an Alternative clinic inspection reports were discovered as state officials reviewed the other 22 reports.
