911 call at Pensacola Abortion Clinic – February 19, 2015 to INTEGRITY MEDICAL CARE, LLC s/k/s American Family Planning
of Pensacola abortion clinic.

A 29-year-old mother was rushed by ambulance to the hospital on February 19, 2015 for uncontrollable bleeding resulting from an abortion at the American Family Planning abortion facility in Pensacola, FL.

According to Operation Rescue, the abortion clinic owned by disgraced New Jersey abortionist Steven Chase Brigham.

A 2014 article in the New Yorker states:

In 1994, he flew to Pensacola and began performing abortions at the clinic where Gunn and Britton had been employed. He continued to promote American Women’s Services, placing ads in the Yellow Pages affirming that abortion was “A Woman’s Right.”

Some ads for American Women’s Services promoted low prices and free transportation for women who could not afford it; others promised “No 24 Hour Waiting Period” and “No Parental Consent Required.” Such ads appeared in telephone directories in Pennsylvania, even though state law mandated parental consent for minors and a twenty-four-hour waiting period. Just across the state border, in New Jersey, where such laws did not apply, Brigham operated clinics.

In 1996, N.A.F. sent copies of these ads to the attorneys general of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, requesting that they investigate Brigham’s operation and take “appropriate action.” At least within N.A.F., Brigham’s charm had worn off. Some of the organization’s leaders had sat down with Brigham and explained what he would need to do to obtain N.A.F. certification for his clinics. Suzanne Poppema recalls, “We told him, ‘You can’t do second-trimester abortions. You just started out, and you don’t have the skill level.’

[Late term abortionist] Curtis Boyd says, “He did not take our advice—he just didn’t. That’s when we realized he could not be salvaged—that he wouldn’t help himself.” N.A.F. eventually barred Brigham from its meetings.

Although American Women’s Services continued to market itself, over the next decade Brigham’s name stopped appearing in newspaper headlines. He concentrated on opening clinics in Baltimore, Virginia Beach, and Phillipsburg, New Jersey.

Laminaria discovered in woman’s uterus 8 years after abortion

A December 2002 court case summary published in OBG MANAGEMENT revealed that laminaria was left inside a woman who had an abortion eight years prior.

The case from the Westchester County (NY) Supreme Court, accused a doctor working for the abortion clinic of inserting the laminaria into her uterus rather than her cervix causing her to be in pain for years.

From the report:

A 19-year-old female presented to a woman’s center for an abortion.

On the first day of the 2-day procedure, the physician inserted 3 laminaria into the patient’s vagina in order to stretch the cervix. The following day, a second physician performed the abortion under real-time ultrasound.

Eight years later, the patient experienced severe cramping and bleeding, which led to a laparoscopy. Clinicians discovered that the
laminaria used during the abortion remained inside the woman.

In suing, the plaintiff claimed that she suffered cramping and heavy bleeding during menstruation as well as pelvic pain for the full 8 years between the 2 procedures. She contended that the first doctor, who had since deceased, inserted the laminaria into her uterus, rather than her cervix. She further maintained that the physician who performed the abortion was also negligent for not discovering and removing the laminaria.

The doctor who performed the abortion argued the deceased doctor misplaced the laminaria; since there was no trace of them on ultrasound, he assumed they had discharged spontaneously. The defense for the deceased physician claimed the second doctor was fully responsible for not removing the laminaria.

The jury found both defendants liable and awarded the plaintiff $200,000.

VIDEO: 911 Redactions Fail to Hide Late term Abortion Injury

Three months after making an open records request for a 911 call originating from LeRoy Carhart’s Germantown Reproductive Health Services abortion clinic on November 26, 2013, Operation Rescue has finally received a 911 recording from the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service indicating that the patient was hemorrhaging from complications to a late-term abortion.

In addition to taking weeks beyond the statutory deadlines to comply with Operation Rescue’s open record request, the recording was heavily redacted, omitting information that has previously been obtainable by the public, indicating a policy change that actively protects the abortion clinic.

“While the Maryland Public Information Act allows for the records custodian to exercise a certain amount of discretion in what is released, the redactions made in the November 26, 911 recording represent a gross abuse of that discretion at the expense of the public that has a right to taxpayer-funded 911 communications, as long as patient identifying information is removed,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “The omissions of information go far beyond anything we have previously obtained from the Montgomery County Fire Department. However, there have been no changes whatsoever in the MPI or FOIA laws that would account for the policy change. It appears to be a political one meant to protect the abortion clinic from scrutiny.”

Answers to nearly identical questions posed by a Montgomery County dispatcher on a 911 recording from a similar abortion emergency at GRHS on July 9, 2013, were released in full. That recording and accompanying video, which showed Carhart escorting a woman on a gurney out of the clinic to an awaiting ambulance, was shown on Fox News.

“We suspect that the news broadcast prompted Carhart or his attorneys to intimidate the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service into covering up information that is damaging to him,” said Newman. “If that is what happened it is a complete abuse of the system.”

In spite of the over-redactions, Operation Rescue was able to determine that the patient was hemorrhaging based on the line of questions asked by the emergency dispatcher, including a question concerning whether the patient requiring emergency medical assistance was on any blood thinners.

“Questions about blood thinners are only asked if there is heavy bleeding involved,” said Newman.

The November 26 incident was videotaped by local pro-life activists. Witnesses on the scene described a visibly pregnant woman who was wheeled out of the abortion clinic completely covered in a sheet.

The patient was rushed to Shady Grove Hospital where she underwent emergency surgery, according to information received by Operation Rescue.

911 Carhart Nov 2013

Germantown Reproductive Health Services is one of the few abortion clinics that openly offers abortions through all 9 months of pregnancy. It is not equipped to handle the serious late-term abortion complications that occur there.

Carhart, who lives in Nebraska, holds no hospital privileges anywhere and has not since 1982. This creates continuity of care issues for patients who routinely suffer life-threatening abortion complications at GRHS. For example, in February 2013, Jennifer Morbelli died from complications to a 33-week abortion done by Carhart who was unreachable by family and hospital staff as her condition deteriorated. However, the Maryland Board of Physicians declined to hold Carhart accountable for his failure to provide Mrs. Morbelli with the same continuity of care that is required from other physicians.

Operation Rescue documented four medical emergencies, including Morbelli’s death, involving Carhart last year alone. Three of the incidents took place in Germantown and the fourth at his abortion clinic in Bellevue, Nebraska.

“Carhart has a network of enablers that have thus far shielded him from accountability for hurting one woman after another. Now it appears that the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services has joined that network of secrecy that ensures that more women will suffer injury or even death in the future,” said Newman.

Operation Rescue has just obtained a 911 recording of an emergency call placed from the Cleveland Surgi-Center last September that details horrific abortion complications suffered by a woman who was said to be only sporadically breathing and whose lips were turning blue.

According to an employee of the Cleveland Surgi-Center that first placed the call on September 14, 2013, the 24 year-old woman had a history of seizure disorders for which she was taking the medication Depakote. The woman began to experience seizures after the abortion procedure.

Safe abortion? Ambulances arrive at Boston Planned Parenthood clinic

Operation Rescue is reporting: Ambulance Transports Victim from Boston Planned Parenthood Abortion Clinic

Dangers of abortion underscore the need to defund the abortion giant

Boston, MA — Two ambulances and a fire truck arrived around mid-morning at the Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Boston, Massachusetts, on Friday, January 7, 2011, according to eye witnesses. Pro-lifers on the scene said they saw one woman wheeled out the front door on a gurney and loaded into one of the awaiting ambulances. The incident was reported by Bill Kotter of Operation Rescue Boston.

While it is unclear the exact nature of the emergency, there is a clear pattern in the abortion industry to call ambulances only in the event of a life-threatening emergency.

“Ambulances at abortion clinics make them look bad and drive off business. Even when life-threatening abortion complications exist, we have seen numerous examples where abortion clinics have refused to call ambulances, so in this case, you could say the woman was lucky,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.

110 cases of “adverse effects” found with RU486 in Australia

Failures recorded as demand soars for abortion pill
BY: Jamie Walker From: The Australian October 02, 2010

THE first failures of the abortion pill have been reported in Australia amid a surge in the take-up of RU486.

Therapeutic Goods Administration data shows use of the controversial drug increased greatly in the second half of last year after a national chain of day clinics was licensed to use it. In NSW, terminations with RU486 went from none to 1154 between July and December. In Queensland it increased from four to 323 and from 42 to 412 in Victoria.

Also known as mifepristone, RU486 is generally used with another drug, misoprostol, to induce abortions that can take place at home. But in 14 Australian cases the drugs failed and the termination had to be completed surgically. A further 110 cases of “adverse effects” were reported by the 81 doctors authorised to prescribe RU486 as at the end of last year, including those at the Marie Stopes organisation, which operates 13 clinics in the eastern states, ACT and Western Australia.

Complications involved retention of placenta remains and other “products of conception”, information released to Tasmanian Liberal senator Guy Barnett through parliamentary estimates shows.
