Maryland authorities slow to act against “Gosnell-like” abortion doctor

It’s a story similar to one we’ve heard before: an abortionist currently “under review” by the state continues to commit abortions while the medical board and abortion lobby appear undisturbed.

Recall the case of Kermit Gosnell, who ran what has been dubbed an abortion “house of horrors” in Philadelphia for years, while, despite several complaints, authorities turned a blind eye to his actions.

Now, the pro-life group Operation Rescue has reported that Harold O. Alexander, charged by the Maryland Board of Medicine in 2015 for conducting surgical abortions at an unlicensed facility, has been caught allegedly doing it again – and in response, the medical board intends to keep the complaint “on file.”

Planned Parenthood denies it’s nurse is doing illegal abortions

Planned Parenthood has denied allegations from a pro-life group that a New Mexico Planned Parenthood nurse is performing abortions in violation on state law. As Saynsumthn has previously reported, ProtestABQ, a pro-life group in New Mexico, says they have uncovered documentation showing that registered nurse Vivianne Clark (license number RN-71112) – whom they claim is employed by Planned Parenthood of New Mexico – performed several abortions, some late-term, in violation of state law which requires that only licensed physicians perform abortions. The group has filed a formal complaint with the State’s Nursing Board.

Protest ABQ received documentation on abortions paid by Medicaid Managed Care which showed that Clark, who is a nurse and not a licensed physician as required by state law, received payments for 81 abortions she performed totally $10,396.12 in 2013, a majority which were performed between 17 and 24 weeks prompting the complaint. According to the Albuquerque Journal, the New Mexico Board of Nursing confirmed receiving the complaint and say it has been referred it to the board’s investigators.

On Monday, Planned Parenthood spokeswoman Whitney Phillips responded in a written statement to the Journal denying the charges against Clark, claiming that, “Nurse practitioners with prescriptive authority prescribe mifepristone as requested by a patient.” Adding, “No surgical abortions are being performed by any nurse practitioners.”

But there is a problem with that conclusion:

Documents provided by ProtestABQ appear to show that nurse Clark performed abortions from 17-24 weeks long past the new FDA standards of 70 days or 10 weeks. As the pro-life group Live Action News has previously reported, in March the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that it is relaxing its protocols for the use of the abortion drug Mifeprex. Under the new regulations, it may be described in 200 milligram doses instead of 600, 70 days after the start of a woman’s last menstrual period instead of 49, and with one fewer trip to an abortionist’s office.

In their denial of the charges, Planned Parenthood officials point to a 2007 lawsuit where a judge ruled that nurse practitioners can, according to the Journal, “legally prescribe the drug mifepristone, an abortion drug, to patients without violating the state’s criminal abortion law.”

But, Attorney Angelo Artuso, who filed the complaint in conjunction with Protest ABQ said that is bogus telling the Journal, “A district court order is not precedent.”

Artuso said there should be an investigation noting that Planned Parenthood “believe[s] they have cover, but it doesn’t mean that the Board of Nursing isn’t going to investigate and find that it is contrary to the licensing regulations.”

Planned Parenthood has come under scrutiny in the past for not only pushing medication abortions but not adhering defying guidelines for women’s safety. Kristin Burton Brown explained this in a recent Live Action News article, writing:

At nearly all of its abortion clinics across the nation, Planned Parenthood performs medical abortions (also known as the abortion pill, RU486, and mifepristone) past the FDA recommended guideline of seven weeks. And, at 104 of its clinics across the nation, Planned Parenthood publicly advertises medical abortions past nine weeks, the medical standard set by NARAL and Planned Parenthood itself.

Carmen Feldman, general counsel for Planned Parenthood of New Mexico called the ProtestABQ complaint a “baseless attack” intended to “intimidate and harass providers.”

Artuso said the complaint was accurate because the New Mexico Legislature decided abortions should be performed by licensed physicians.

“We think it’s a good law. If that’s harassment and intimidation, then why not let anyone perform abortions?” he added.

Pro-life group charges Planned Parenthood nurse performed illegal abortions, files complaint

A pro-life group in New Mexico has filed a formal complaint with the State’s Nursing Board accusing a nurse of performing abortions in violation of state law. Protest ABQ, say that they uncovered documentation showing that registered nurse Vivianne Clark (license number RN-71112) performed several abortions, some late term, in violation of state law which requires that only licensed physicians perform abortions. The pro-life group also claims that Clark is employed by Planned Parenthood of New Mexico.

Tara Shaver, spokesperson for ProtestABQ told Saynsumthn that New Mexico law states that only licensed physicians can perform abortions. Shaver said they discovered the alleged illegal abortions through an IPRA request for Medicaid data since New Mexico is one of 17 states that uses state money for abortions and report on the numbers annually. “You can see from the Medicaid data that she is doing 1st and 2nd trimester abortions up to 24 weeks,” Shaver said.

Shaver sent Saynsumthn a copy of the report. It was dated 2013 and entitled: New Mexico Pregnancy Terminations Paid in Calendar Year 2013, noting that some of the services were performed in 2012, but were paid through Medicaid Managed Care Organizations. An analysis of the report shows that Medicaid paid a total of $160,007.51 for 811 abortions. The report listed several abortion doctors including Curtis Boyd, a late term abortionist who operates in Albuquerque. In the report, Boyd was paid for several abortions he performed between 17 to 24 weeks.

Vivianne M. Clark is also listed as receiving payments for abortions. In 2013, Clark received a total of $10,396.12 for 81 abortions, a majority which were performed between 17 and 24 weeks.

    $6203.22 for 34 Induced Abortions – 17-24 Weeks
    $2470.03 for 12 Induced abortion – 17 to 24 weeks
    $364.29 for 1 – Induced abortion – 17-24 weeks
$1236.45 for 14 Mifepristone oral 200 mg abortions
$122.13 for 20- Misoprostol oral 200 mcg abortions

According to ProtestABQ, the Medicaid data they obtained through a public records request indicates that New Mexico taxpayers have footed the bill for over 200 illegal abortions performed by Vivianne Clark. And, reports provided to ProtestABQ show that Vivianne Clark was paid for abortions as far back as 2012.

Although the location where the abortions were performed is not noted on the reports, Shaver said that Clark is a nurse who works at Planned Parenthood of New Mexico ( Operated by: Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, Inc.) pointing to this online business listing showing Clark as a Planned Parenthood nurse practitioner.

PLanned Parenthood Vivianne Clark

Listings at this website show 2 Planned Parenthood locations where Clark allegedly works. A search on the New Mexico Medical Board website which provides and maintains physician data as part of its official website, shows that there is no licensed physician by the name of Vivianne Clark:

“It just so happens that the only law in New Mexico apparently not being enforced says that only physicians can perform abortions. She is violating a criminal statute and the penalty is a 4th felony,” Shaver said.

The New Mexico Board of Nursing has confirmed receiving the complaint and say it has been referred it to the board’s investigators, according to the Albuquerque Journal.

A copy of the formal complaint filed with the New Mexico Board of Nursing reads in part:

I have attached proof that Ms. Clark has been reimbursed by New Mexico Medicaid from 2013 to 2013 for abortions she performed in the first and second trimesters, up to 24 weeks of pregnancy.Ms. Clark's actions are in violation of the New Mexico Criminal Abortion Statute (§ 30-5-1, et seq.)

I respectfully request that the Board of Nursing investigate this matter in the interest of public safety and that you take appropriate action against Ms. Clark, including revocation of her license if warranted, for her violation of New Mexico law.

Planned Parenthood has denied the charges.

“It is a disturbing fact that New Mexicans are funding an illegal abortionist through NM medicaid. The over 200 abortions that we have been able to document, based on the NM medicaid data, are only the tip of the iceberg as far as the total number of abortions Vivanne Clarke has performed over the years in clear violation of New Mexico law,” states Bud Shaver, executive director of Protest ABQ in a statement regarding their complaint.

“We are calling upon the New Mexico Nursing Board to do a thorough investigation to get to the bottom of this. Based on what we can already prove, Vivianne Clarke’s nursing license should be revoked immediately,” he added.

Nick Loeb: on embryo fight “Two lives were already created” no different than born child

Nick Loeb told the Today Show that the embryos his ex-fiance wants to “destroy” are already life.

But, Modern Family actress, Sofia Vergara has accused Nick Loeb of being an opportunist and she wants the embryos they created as a couple to be “destroyed.”

Loeb filed motion for control of the embryos in August of last year, but the private matter turned public when he wrote about it a New York Times op-ed piece on April 29. “In my view, keeping them frozen forever is tantamount to killing them,” he wrote.

More from Loeb’s letter:

“When we create embryos for the purpose of life, should we not define them as life, rather than as property? Does one person’s desire to avoid biological parenthood (free of any legal obligations) outweigh another’s religious beliefs in the sanctity of life and desire to be a parent? A woman is entitled to bring a pregnancy to term even if the man objects. Shouldn’t a man who is willing to take on all parental responsibilities be similarly entitled to bring his embryos to term even if the woman objects? These are issues that, unlike abortion, have nothing to do with the rights over one’s own body, and everything to do with a parent’s right to protect the life of his or her unborn child.”
“In 2013, Sofía and I agreed to try to use in vitro fertilization and a surrogate to have children. We signed a form stating that any embryos created through the process could be brought to term only with both parties’ consent. The form did not specify — as California law requires — what would happen if we separated. I am asking to have it voided.”

Loeb then admits he had a girlfriend who had an abortion writing,

“When I was in my 20s, I had a girlfriend who had an abortion, and the decision was entirely out of my hands. Ever since, I have dreamed about a boy at the age he would be now. Later, I was married for four years to a woman with whom I tried to have children, with help from a fertility specialist. The difficulties we had made me feel, more than ever, that the ability to create life was special. When she left me, as I was running for a seat in the Florida State Senate, my dreams of a family were shattered.”

After the couple broke up after four years together, Loeb said he asked Sofia for the embryos and said he, “offering to pay for all expenses to carry our girls to term and raise them.”

“She has refused. Her lawyer, Fred Silberberg, has told reporters that she wants to keep the embryos “frozen indefinitely.” In my view, keeping them frozen forever is tantamount to killing them.”

He then told to the Today Show that two lives had already been created:

Nick Loeb

In the interview Loeb stated:

You know – you know- we filed this back in October, this is not something that’s new.

This has nothing to do with this at all.

This has to do with bigger really moral you no legal or ethical concepts that are out there about lives that we’ve already created and nothing to do with anything else.

It has nothing to do with whether it is her baby or a baby.

    Lives were already created.

You know a lot of the question is why don’t you move on and meet somebody else and and no doubt I would love to do that.

But doesn’t it matter that two lives have already been created?

I wouldn’t just toss them aside – no different than a child that had been born.”

Complaint filed against Democrat after offensive abortion tweet

Posted in Democrat with tags , , , , , , , on July 7, 2014 by saynsumthn

Council_HDavis A South Bend Democrat is in hot water after he tweeted a suggestion that Republicans be aborted.

The tweet from Democrat Common Council member Henry Davis Jr. was offensive enough directed at Republicans but it also appeared to target the mentally handicapped.

The tweet stated, “Maybe if they could have discovered unborn babies with shortage of brain cells you republicans could have been aborted.”

A complaint has been filed against Common Council member Henry Davis Jr. by Rhonda Richards, a Republican resident of the city.

Speaking to the South Bend Tribune Richards described the offending tweet as “just too much.”

The fact that he believes people should be aborted just because they may not have the same brain function as someone else; the fact he wants people aborted at all; the fact he’s so afraid of his potential opponents he would want them aborted before they’re even born – the whole concept of it is just too over-the-top to be tolerated,” Richards said.

The tweet, which originated with another user, originally appeared on Davis Jr.’s Twitter page , a screen grab provided by the county GOP shows, but was later taken down, reports the paper.

“We are disappointed in Henry’s decision to use his official Twitter account to convey such a hateful and twisted message,” GOP Chair Deb Fleming said at the time. “I guess when it comes to Republicans equality and tolerance don’t matter.”

Davis responded by telling the Tribune that his social media accounts are personal and not associated with his duties as a councilman. “That is my Twitter,” he said. “You can’t qualify it as being wrong or right because there are no laws.”

Allegation against Michigan abortionist leads to fine and reprimand

H/T 40 Days for Life Lansing and Lynn Mills:
Theodore_Roumell-e1372111702184

Abortionist Theodore Roumell has been doing abortions at the now closed Feminine Health Care abortion clinic after Alberto Hodari retired. The Flint abortion clinic was in non-compliance with the State of Michigan. Both the medical waste and free-standing surgical license had expired, and following open formal complaints against the clinic, the abortion mill is no longer open, says pro-lifer Lynn Mills.

Mills told a local radio station that she discovered a law about controlled substances and then filed a complaint with the Attorney General against abortionist Roumell and she predicts three more abortion clinics will close because of this complaint.

Roumell owns the WomanCare abortion clinics.

Now the allegation Mills filed against abortionist Theodore Roumell has resulted in both a fine and reprimand of Roumell’s Pharmacy/Drug Control license as of April 9.

COMPLAINT:
Theodore Louis Roumell complaints

On April 9, 2014 the MICHIGAN BOARD OF PHARMACY DISCIPLINARY SUBCOMMITTEE filed a Consent Order and Stipulation which led to the action.

DISCIPLINE:
Roumell Discipline 2014

As a result the abortionists license is restricted. His California license appears to be unaffected by the Michigan action- however- it is possible that California has not been notified as of yet.

Roumell still under investigation
Theodore Roumell

In a separate allegation filed by 40 days for Life Lansing, they claim that Roumell and his clinic are “cited for failure to offer an ultrasound viewing to an abortion client who told us that she wanted to see her baby but wasn’t given that chance. Michigan Law requires providers to offer a live viewing or photo of the baby in the womb. That allegation is still under administrative review with the Bureau of Health Care Services.”

Patient writes complaint against Planned Parenthood after switching to ObamaCare

Posted in Planned Parenthood Navigator, Planned Parenthood ObamaCare with tags , , , , , , on April 17, 2014 by saynsumthn

A patient who just switched her insurance to ObamaCare has posted a complaint against Planned Parenthood in South Austin on the Complaint Board:
S Austin PP

SHE WRITES:
“I’ve been going to Planned Parenthood for over two consecutive years now for my birth control shot. I just recently got health insurance under Obama Care. I went three months ago, using my insurance for the first time. I asked about the insurance over the phone before I drove down there for my appointment. I was told my insurance was accepted. I arrived and was told I couldn’t be seen that day because the doctor couldn’t ‘work on me’ with the insurance I have. So I rescheduled for a new day. It’s hard for me to schedule an appointment in the first place because of work, and finding child care for my four year old. I went back on my rescheduled day, and walked out unseen that day because the lady at the counter couldn’t find my insurance. I talked with her over the next THREE days, she then told me they DID accept my insurance but they couldn’t figure out how to find it or use it, but I was scheduled another appointment and given my shot for free. I signed a waiver stating so.”

Complaints Board

I now, three months later, due for my next shot, called to make an appointment. I called twice on two different days trying to schedule an appointment, during business hours and the phone just rang and rang, my call never got picked up. I finally get a hold of a person and am immediately put on hold for 10 minutes. For the two years I’ve been coming here, I have scheduled an appointment every time. This time, a very unpleasant sounding lady tells me they do this on a walk in basis. I’m confused, but ok whatever, ill walk in. Before I waste my time driving down there, I ask her about my insurance. I told her I had issues using it last time, I wanted to make sure everything was going to be ok with it this time. I was told very rudely that no, they do not accept my insurance. I tried to explain to her that I was told by another employee last time that my insurance was accepted. She kept cutting me off until I finally told her thanks anyway. I called back and asked by name for the lady who helped me last time, I was put on hold for about 5 minutes and the same rude lady picked the phone back up and told me she was with a patient and could she get my name and phone number and would have the lady call me back. I gave her the information and the call was ended. I then immediately called my insurance provider to see if they could tell me if planned parenthood accepted my insurance. The lady told me yes, they do accept this insurance. I told her my issue, and she asked me if I could hold and she was going to call them. She asked to talk to the manager and left a message with him. I never received a call back from planned parenthood, and called back again today. I spoke with a different lady this time, and she transferred me to the manager, she said he was walking in the office as she was transferring my call. It rang maybe twice and went to voicemail. I left a message with my name and phone number asking him to call me back. Have not received a call back and I left the message 4 hours ago. I am SO disgusted with this customer service. They sure showed me they don’t care about me or my business, and I have taken my business elsewhere. The customer service given to me was unacceptable. I work in customer service and I KNOW if I treated someone the way I have been treated, I would be getting complained against, and at the least written up by my supervisor.”
