Select Investigative Panel Issues Subpoenas for StemExpress Accounting & Banking Records

Earlier this month, the Select Investigative Panel issued subpoenas to two financial entities — Scinto Group, LLP and Five Star Bancorp — in an effort to obtain StemExpress accounting and banking records, which the fetal tissue procurement business has failed to produce pursuant to previous subpoenas.

At a hearing held on April 20, 2016, on The Pricing of Fetal Tissue, the consensus among witnesses was that a full review of accounting documents by the Select Investigative Panel was warranted in order to determine whether or not StemExpress profited from the sale of human fetal tissue.

“In light of the advice we received from witnesses at our hearing last month, these subpoenas are necessary in order for the Select Investigative Panel to complete a full review of StemExpress’ accounting records,” Chairman Blackburn said. “Documents uncovered by our investigation so far point to the very troubling possibility that StemExpress may have violated federal law by profiting from the sale of baby body parts. We have learned that not only is this investigation warranted, but further examination of accounting records is needed to get the complete facts about what was actually going on.”

Meanwhile, Chairman Marsha Blackburn has sent a letter to Cate Dyer, CEO of StemExpress, requesting full cooperation with the Select Investigative Panel’s efforts to obtain all business and accounting documents from the fetal tissue procurement organization.

“Over the last several months, we have made numerous attempts to acquire business and accounting documents from StemExpress that are necessary to complete our work at the Select Investigative Panel,” Blackburn wrote in the letter. “All of these requests have been met with verbal and written objections from your attorneys. In light of recent public comments you have made and the consensus reached by witnesses at our April 20 hearing on The Pricing of Fetal Tissue that a complete review of StemExpress business and accounting documents was necessary, I am writing to personally request you turn this information over to our investigators.”

Click here to read Chairman Blackburn’s letter, including attachments, sent to Ms. Dyer.

During a hearing held in April by the Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives to examine The Pricing of Fetal Tissue, Fay Clayton, a lead Democrat witness, told the panel that StemExpress should be asked to turn over their banking records and documents to determine if they have or haven’t profited from the sale of baby body parts.

When asked by Chairman Marsha Blackburn about what documents she would request or subpoena from these procurement businesses, Clayton said she’d “have them [StemExpress] come in, put them under oath…and ask them how did you come up with this charge?”

“Now that their own witness has testified about the need for StemExpress to provide us with information we have subpoenaed, hopefully Democrats will finally come to the table and work with us in a bipartisan fashion to encourage attorneys for StemExpress to comply with our requests,” Chairman Blackburn said. “Accounting documents don’t lie, and so far the evidence we’ve compiled shows that further investigation is warranted. Our task is to get all the facts, and it is my hope that all members of this investigative panel will work together in that effort.”

Documents uncovered so far by the work of the Select Investigative Panel shows it is more likely than not that abortion clinics and middleman procurement businesses may have violated federal law by profiting from the payments they collected from the sale of baby body parts. Title 42 USC § 289g-2, which prohibits the transfer of any human fetal tissue for valuable consideration, states that reasonable costs include transportation, implantation, processing, preservation, quality control, and storage — none of which it appears the abortion clinics did based on documents examined at the hearing.

Planned Parenthood baby harvesting CEO supports Hillary Clinton while GOP candidates denounce

Posted in 2016 Presidential Race, Carly Fiorina, Center for Medical Progress, Hillary clinton, Partial Birth Abortion, Stem Cell Research, stem Express with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 17, 2015 by saynsumthn

In Wednesday’s CNN GOP debate the presidential hopefuls went after Hillary Clinton.

CNN GOP Debate Sept 2015

“Hillary is going to have to defend her track record of lying about Benghazi, of lying about her e-mails, about lying about her servers..if you want to stump a Democrat ask them to name an accomplishment of Mrs. Cinton’s.
” said Carly Fiorina, the only female competitor on the stage.

Another topic that came up was the subject of defunding Planned Parenthood, something Congress is set to hear this week.

As Governors, Chris Christi and Scott Walker reminded their supporters that they defunded Planned Parenthood and Ted Cruz called the abortion biz a “criminal enterprise.”

But Carly went for Hillary’s jugular regarding Planned Parenthood funding.

Carly on Planned Parenthood CNN Debate

With a great deal of emotion and conviction, Fiorina suggested that Hillary watch the Center for Medical Progress videos which exposed Planned Parenthood for their bloody baby parts harvesting operation:

As regards Planned Parenthood. Anyone who has watched this video tape…”

“I dare Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, to watch these tapes. Watch a fully formed fetus on the table, it’s heart beating, it’s legs kicking, while someone says we have to keep it alive to harvest it’s brain. This is about the character of our nation. And if we will not stand up and force President Obama to veto this bill shame on us.”

I have documented the long held pro-abortion position of Hillary Rodham Clinton who once praised the racist founder of Planned Parenthood.

Interestingly enough, there is one supporter of Hillary Clinton associated with the Planned Parenthood videos.

Her name is Cate Dyer and she is the founder of Stem Express, whose “specimens” have been implanted into animals and is one of the fetal procurement companies used by Planned Parenthood.

Cate Dyer STem Express Fetal Liver Planned Parenthood

A conversation between Stem Express CEO Cate Dyer and the undercover CMP buyer revealed that the woman who harvests baby parts for Planned Parenthood is a HUGE Hillary Clinton supporter.

In their meeting with the procurement CEO, CMP under cover buyers suggested they supported the Democrat presidential hopeful, telling Dyer and her associates they want to give Hillary more money suggesting that harvesting baby parts would do that.

From the transcript:

CMP Buyer: I would like to be able to add a lot to Hillary Clinton’s purse.
Stem Express Cate Dyer: Me too!
CMP Buyer: Really?
Stem Express Cate Dyer: I mean, ask these guys. The minute she announced her candidacy—I have a signed picture from Hillary, because my sister works in Congress. So it’s on my— I like brought it into work the next day and propped it right on my desk. So, yeah.
CMP Buyer: So, wouldn’t you—
Stem Express Cate Dyer: I’m a huge Hillary fan.

Cate Dyer intact cases fetal Planned Parenthood Stem Express

Let’s not forget that it was former Blood and Tissue Procurement Technician for StemExpress Holly O’Donnell who told CMP that she was asked to cut through the face of a live baby in order to harvest the child’s brains for Stem Express.

Later in their conversation the aborted baby parts procurement CEO stated her love for Hillary again.

From the transcript:

Stem Express Cate Dyer: Yeah, I’m a huge Hillary fan.

Then the StemExpress founder rejoices that Hillary Clinton is into stem cell research:

CMP Buyer: So I can save my money? I don’t need to—
Stem Express Cate Dyer: Well, I’m sure she’s [Hillary’s] gonna need a lot of it…
CMP Buyer: Really.
Stem Express Cate Dyer: Yeah, kind of shocking, her background is an attorney, and she works with health care reform. And so she’s very socially liberal and super into stem cell research and everything, but as far as health care’s concerned, she lines up really well with the conservative group.

Cate Dyer is correct, Hillary once promised to lift the ban on stem cell research.

Hillary CLinton fetal stem cell research

In 2014, the San-Diego Union reported that Hillary Clinton was advocating for Biotech companies of which StemExpress is one, especially those in California:

California (undertook) a very important task in creating a funding stream for stem cell research,” Clinton said. “Other states have followed suit, when it looked as though the federal government would not be doing that. States have a role to play, but we need a national framework.”

PBA-Partial-Birth-Abortion-.image_

PARTIAL BIRTH ABORTION

The conversation then went to the now illegal partial birth abortion procedure.

The Center for Medical Progress has suggested that some of the ways Planned Parenthood has been able to get “intact fetuses” may be from using the prohibited partial birth abortion procedure, which Hillary defended.

In the partial birth abortion procedure, an almost fully developed unborn baby is delivered from it’s mother, feet first, with only the head remaining inside the birth canal. The abortionist then punctures the child in the back of the neck with a pair of sharp scissors. The abortion doctor then sucks out the baby’s brain tissue to collapse the skull and deliver a dead baby.

Hillary CLinton Partial Birth Abortion debate 2003

In the conversation between Stem Express CEO Cate Dyer and CMP investigators they suggest that Hillary should overturn the gruesome procedure:

CMP Buyer: So, that’s why, going full circle, fund Hillary.
Stem Express Cate Dyer: Yeah, that’s true. [laughter] If she can get in—
CMP Buyer: That signature, that autograph, she can put it on the bill to repeal the federal—
Stem Express Cate Dyer: Right! I know.
CMP Buyer: And while we’re at it, repeal the partial-birth, born-alive, whatever— get rid of that.
Stem Express Cate Dyer: Yea, what do you think?
Kevin: I could see it going both way, and I can see her face making both arguments too.
CMP Buyer: You don’t think she’s reliable?
Kevin: No, I’m wondering if she’ll bring in the political courage to do it.
Stem Express Cate Dyer: Yeah. […] She’s a Clinton. [winks]
CMP Buyer: If anyone could do it-
Kevin: There’s a lot of people who could do it. It’s will they step up to the microphone?
CMP Buyer: Will they get a backbone. We could procure that for them.

Hillary defended Partial Birth Abortion when the bill came before the Senate in 2003. Read more about that debate here and watch here.

Rampant bacteria + staff problems in abortion clinics says StemExpress CEO calling Planned Parenthood a “volume institution” in baby parts harvesting

The Center for Medical Progress’ eighth video centers on a conversation they have in a public place with Stem Express CEO Cate Dyer. The company was originally operated out of Dyer’s home in rural El Dorado County until she grew it into a very lucrative a multi-million dollar company located in a 19,000-square-foot building in downtown Placerville.

Cate Dyer StemExpress Planned Parenthood CMP

I got really comfortable with tissue and organs,” Dyer once said.

The fetal tissue procurement company tried unsuccessfully to get a restraining order against the pro-life group to censor their first amendment right to release this footage.

On August 21, a California judge lifted a temporary restraining order, and today CMP showed what it had.

In this video release, the CEO of StemExpress expresses an interest in fetal livers which she claims they get a lot of requests for.

“Specifically liver tissue because that’s such an area of demand for us,” Dyer says.

Cate Dyer STem Express Fetal Liver Planned Parenthood

According to CMP, StemExpress, LLC, is a major buyer of fetal tissue from Planned Parenthood which tells the actors that she gets a lot of requests for baby livers. This is reflective in what StemExpress advertises on their website and in a Stem Express catalog that has since been removed.

But, a cached version still exists. For that reason, the screen grabs will look a little distorted than if the actual PDF was available.

Strem Express Catalogue

In the 2013-2014 Stem Express Catalog, owner Cate Dyer, CEO brags that they are the largest provider of fetal tissue globally:

A current (2015) screen grab off the Stem Express fetal liver order page on their website shows how lucrative the selling of human baby livers can be:

More on this here.

Ironically, when Dyer was asked by CMP what amount of fetal body parts would keep her lab happy she responded, “another 50 livers a week” would not be enough.

“I mean it’s you know volume for us,” Dyer points out.

“We’re working with almost like triple digit number clinics. So it’s a lot of volume – and we still need more…it’s a lot. So I don’t think you’re going to hit capacity with us anytime in the next ten years,” she added.

She later notes, “Planned Parenthood has volume, because they are a volume institution.”

PLANNED PARENTHOOD SUPPORT:

Cecile RIchards Planned Parenthood ABC

Stem Express said they terminated their relationship with Planned Parenthood after CMP began exposing the depraved baby parts operation weeks ago. However, in this conversation with StemExpress CEO Cate Dyer, Vice President of Corporate Development and Legal Affairs Kevin Cooksy, and Procurement Manager Megan Barr they admit getting lots of support from Planned Parenthood.

Asked if they feel supported from Planned Parenthood prez Cecile Richards and Planned Parenthood Federation of America Senior Director of Medical Services, Dr. Deborah Nucatola who once admitted she would “crush above” or “crush below” the unborn child to protect the specific baby organ she wanted to procure, Dyer responded, “Oh yeah everyone at PPFA [Planned Parenthood Federation of America] and the affiliates.”

INTACT FETUSES
Cate Dyer intact cases fetal Planned Parenthood Stem Express

As shocking as it should sound, Dyer admits the company gets “a lot” of intact fetuses.

“Oh yeah, I mean if you had intact cases, which we’ve done a lot. We sometimes ship those back to our lab in its entirety…So, that would also be great if you have those. Because, again the procurement for us I mean it can go really sideways depending on the facility and then our samples are destroyed and we’re like “really?” This was all so much work and then just to have them be destroyed is awful.”

STAFF AND BACTERIA IN CLINICS:

Cate Fyer Rampant bacteria abortion clinics planned parenthood CMP

In addition to her admission of procuring intact fetuses which implied the baby might have been aborted alive, and allowed to die a violation of federal law, Dyer says that there are bacterial problems inside many clinics.

I’ve seen really rampant – Rampant problems with bacteria in certain clinics. Some where you’re kind of like in question of really should they, really you know.

“I’ve seen staff in certain clinics. I mean I’ve seen all sorts of things come out of clinics,” she said.

FINANCIALLY BENEFICIAL

Stem Express financial profit Planned Parenthood

Dyer also agrees that payments to abortion clinics for fetal body parts should be financially beneficial to them. It is a violation of federal law to sell human fetal baby parts for profit.

The Stem Express CEO asks CMP who she thinks are buyers for a Biotech firm, if they think there are [abortion] clinics out that have been burned, or feel like they’re doing work for research and that isn’t profitable for them.

And then she responds, “I don’t see that either…I haven’t seen that.”

StemExpress publishes a flyer for Planned Parenthood clinics that promises “Financial Profits” and “fiscal rewards” for clinics that supply aborted fetal tissue. It is endorsed by Planned Parenthood Mar Monte Chief Medical Officer Dr. Dorothy Furgerson.

CHOPPING UP BABIES NOT FOR EVERYONE:

Dyer also reveals that the aborted baby body parts industry is not for everyone:

“So many physicians are like, ‘Oh I can totally procure tissue,’ and they can’t,” she tells CMP, seeming to indicate that abortion doctors must do the procedure in a special way to obtain useable fetal parts. Federal law requires that no alteration in the timing or method of abortion be done for the purposes of fetal tissue collection (42 U.S.C. 289g-1).

ACADEMIC LABS FREAK OUT ABOUT FETAL BODY PARTS:

StemExPress CSU abortion tissue fetal

In the video, Dyer notes that many academic labs do not like to get fetal body parts because they look like babies.

It’s almost like they don’t want to know where it comes from,” she tells CMP.

“Where they’re like, we need limbs but no hands and feet need to be attached.”

“They want you to take it all off, like, ‘make it so that we don’t know what it is,’ ” she said.

“But, we know what it is,
    ” she said nervously giggling.

And, they’re lab techs freak out and have meltdowns,

The Stem Express head points out that many of the lab techs at Universities get into other areas of research do they don’t have to publish papers admitting they used fetal tissue.

SHIPPING ISSUES FOR FETAL TISSUE BODY PARTS

Dyer notes that fetal tissue is very fragile calling it “insanely fragile.”

“It’s the hardest thing in the world to ship
,” she says.

In speaking about intact fetal heads, Dyer jokes, “Tell the lab it’s coming so they don’t open the box and go Oh God!”

StemExpress is a for-profit biotech supply company that has been partnered with Planned Parenthood clinics across the country to purchase human fetal parts since its founding in 2010. StemExpress’ Medical Director, Dr. Ronald Berman, is an abortion doctor for Planned Parenthood Mar Monte.

The sale or purchase of human fetal tissue is a federal felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison or a fine of up to $500,000 (42 U.S.C. 289g-2). The Sacramento Business Journal reported in June that StemExpress has an annual revenue of $4.5 million.

The video is the eighth released by The Center for Medical Progress in its investigative journalism study of Planned Parenthood’s sale of aborted baby parts.

A response to the video published by Planned Parenthood on Twitter claims the claims are fake:

Planned Parenthood responds to StemEXpress CMP Vid

“StemExpress is the ‘weakest link’ that unravels Planned Parenthood’s baby parts chain–they readily admit the profit-motive that Planned Parenthood and their proxies have in supplying aborted baby parts,” notes David Daleiden, Project Lead for CMP.

Congress and law enforcement should immediately seize all fetal tissue files from StemExpress and all communications and contracts with Planned Parenthood. The evidence that Planned Parenthood profits from the sale of aborted baby parts is now overwhelming, and not one more dime of taxpayer money should go to their corrupt and fraudulent criminal enterprise.”

Stem Express responded to the video by issuing a statement which reads in part:

STem Express signIn a “preview” video released immediately following the court’s ruling, the criminal defendants claim StemExpress “admitted” to receiving “intact fetuses” from Planned Parenthood. However, a cursory review of the unedited video or transcript reveals that the entire conversation was unequivocally discussing “intact” fetal livers, which are used by StemExpress for the development of isolated cells that are urgently needed by scientists and medical researchers working to cure cancer, diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease. In fact, CMP itself has previously acknowledged that this portion of the conversation refers solely to fetal livers, but nonetheless continues to lodge unsupported false accusations at StemExpress.

StemExpress’s CEO, Cate Dyer, added the following personal response to these latest allegations:

Cate Fyer of Stem Express fetal body parts Consistent with the company’s prior public statements, StemExpress has never requested, received or provided to a researcher an ‘intact fetus.’ CMP’s and Daleiden’s continued lies reflect a sad attempt to malign StemExpress and me personally. As anyone can see and read, the entire discussion was, in fact, about ‘intact livers,’ which are used by StemExpress to develop and purify isolated cells used by our customers to support their critical scientific research. My use of the term ‘intact cases’ is a medical term of art that refers solely to ‘intact livers,’ as there was absolutely no mention of ‘intact fetuses’ at any point in over two hours of illegally recorded video.”

StemExpress vows to pursue a claim of damages against CMP and David Daleiden for what they describe as, “their illegal conduct.”

Judge grants TRO to Stem Express which collects Planned Parenthood baby parts

A Press Release issued by Stem Express, a fetal tissue procurement company tied to Planned Parenthood’s baby harvesting operation, which also provided human fetal kidneys to implant in animals (read here), claims they have been successful in obtaining a temporary restraining order against the pro-life group publishing damaging under cover videos.

The restraining order will remain in place until a hearing on Aug. 19.

It states:

On July 28, 2015, a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge issued a temporary restraining
order (“TRO”) prohibiting the Center for Medical Progress (“CMP”) and David Daleiden from releasing any illegally and secretly recorded videos of StemExpress employees and awarding other relief to our company.

StemExpress sought a TRO on the grounds that CMP and Daleiden violated California’s
anti-wiretapping law under Penal Code § 632 (Invasion of Privacy Act). The court granted our TRO and will consider our request for a preliminary injunction next month.

We will continue to pursue all available legal remedies against CMP and Daleiden.

According to Yahoo News:

In a statement Wednesday, center leader David Daleiden said StemExpress was using “meritless litigation” to cover up an “illegal baby parts trade.”

“The Center for Medical Progress follows all applicable laws in the course of our investigative journalism work,” he said.

StemExpress is a Placerville-based company started in 2010 that provides human tissue, blood and other specimens to researchers. Planned Parenthood is one of the company’s providers of fetal tissue.

A company spokesman said StemExpress is “grateful its rights have been vindicated in a court of law.”

In the third video released by The Center for Medical Progress, former Stem Express employee, Holly O’Donnell, who worked as a licensed phlebotomist told CMP that she unsuspectingly took a job as a “procurement technician” at the fetal tissue company and biotech start-up StemExpress in late 2012 after responding to an ad.

Stem Express is a company that hires procurement techs to draw blood and dissect dead fetuses and sell the parts to researchers,” the former employee states.

The owner, Cate Dyer, she used to be a procurement tech and then she went and started her own business. And now she’s making a lot of money based off the poor girls who half the time don’t even want to get abortions.” O’Donnell adds.

STatement on Stem Express from CMP

A response to the lawsuit has been published on the pro-life group’s website and reads:

StemExpress, a for-profit company partnered with over 30 abortion clinics, including Planned Parenthood, to harvest and sell aborted baby parts and provide a “financial benefit” to Planned Parenthood clinics, is attempting to use meritless litigation to cover-up this illegal baby parts trade, suppress free speech, and silence the citizen press reporting on issues of burning concern to the American public. They are not succeeding—their initial petition was rejected by the court, and their second petition was eviscerated to a narrow and contingent order about an alleged recording pending CMP’s opportunity to respond. The Center for Medical Progress follows all applicable laws in the course of our investigative journalism work and will contest all attempts from Planned Parenthood and their allies to silence our First Amendment rights and suppress investigative journalism.

Cost of fetal liver from Stem Express who procures babies from Planned Parenthood

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on July 29, 2015 by saynsumthn

Besides the invaluable cost of a human life, aborted babies are being harvested for their organs. One of the most valued parts if the liver, so I decided to see what a fetal liver actually costs.

After news that Stem Express was in the baby parts industry with Planned Parenthood, I started looking around to see what I could find.

Stem Express financial benefit Planned Parenthood 1

I have already written a little about them here and here if you’d care to read those posts.

After a little digging online, I happened upon a Stem Express catalog that has been removed.

But, a cached version still exists. For that reason, the screen grabs will look a little distorted than if the actual PDF was available.

What the document contains may explain Planned Parenthood’s desire for the livers of the babies they abort:

Standards Stem Express

In the 2013-2014 Stem Express Catalog, owner Cate Dyer, CEO brags that they are the largest provider of fetal tissue globally:

Cate Fyer of Stem Express fetal body parts

The addition of new products is not the only area of growth we have experienced. Relocating our main headquarters into a new state-of-the-art facility added 17,000sqft to our workspace. The team has grown by 30%, recruiting people from companies such as Genentech and Telik. We added an on-site procurement center specializing in the collection of leukapheresis and bone marrow. Continuing to be an industry leader in procurement, we realized exponential growth with regard to human tissues such as cadaverous tissue, umbilical cord blood, diseased tissue and tumors. Finally, StemExpress is now the largest provider of maternal blood and fetal tissue globally

The document goes on to say:

StemExpress is a global biotechnology company that was founded in May of 2010. We have the largest variety of raw materials available in the industry. Combined with our access to raw material, StemExpress is also your one stop location for fresh, fixed and cryopreserved human primary cells. Our human tissue products range from fetal to adult tissues and healthy to diseased samples.

StemExpress procures specimens from various hospitals and clinics throughout the United States. We are licensed and/or certified in accordance with local, state and federal requirements. Our IRB approved protocols and consents protect you as well as our donor’s privacy in accordance with HIPAA guidelines. The StemExpress team takes pride in being researcher oriented and our goal is to build strong, responsive, and long-lasting relationships with our clients. By partnering with StemExpress, we can reduce the time your team spends isolating cells or collecting raw materials. Let us take your research to the next level.

In the Center for Medical Progress videos exposing the Planned Parenthood / Stem Express aborted baby parts harvesting scheme, the need for fetal livers came up over and over again.

Planned Parenthood intact-livers

In the first video released, Planned Parenthood’s Senior Director of Medical Services Dr. Deborah Nucatola id heard telling what she thought was buyers of a Biotech company, “I’d say a lot of people want liver. And for that reason, most providers will do this case under ultrasound guidance, so they’ll know where they’re putting their forceps. The kind of rate-limiting step of the procedure is the calvarium, the head is basically the biggest part. Most of the other stuff can come out intact. It’s very rare to have a patient that doesn’t have enough dilation to evacuate all the other parts intact.”

planned-parenthood-video-crush-b

Nucatola went on to say how she would crush the unborn baby above and below the desired organ,” Exactly. So then you’re just kind of cognizant of where you put your graspers, you try to intentionally go above and below the thorax, so that, you know, we’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m going to basically crush
below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact. And with the calvarium, in general, some people will actually try to change the presentation so that it’s not vertex, because when it’s vertex presentation, you never have enough dilation at the beginning of the case, unless you have real, huge amount of dilation to deliver an intact calvarium. So if you do it starting from the breech presentation, there’s dilation that happens as the case goes on, and often, the last, you can
evacuate an intact calvarium at the end. So I mean there are certainly steps that can be taken to try to ensure—

She goes onto to say that the abortionist can “change the presentation” to breech in what some think was describing an illegal Partial Birth Abortion.

More on owner Cate Dyer and the Stem Express beginnings from Sacramento State University:

The company initially operated out of Dyer’s home in rural El Dorado County. Her initial investment was $9,000. Her first month’s income was $800 –and then the business took off, earning several hundred thousand dollars within 18 months. Dyer predicts that this year the company will double its 2013 revenue. StemExpress, with its sparkling cell-isolation laboratory and cutting-edge blood and bone marrow donation center, is headquartered in a sleek, 19,000-square-foot building in downtown Placerville. Dyer still maintains close ties to her alma mater. Seventy-five percent of her laboratory staff –including cell biologists, microbiologists and a geneticist –are Sacramento State alumni. And she hires Sac State students for summer internships. They are paid and receive college credit for their work.

Among StemExpress’ clients are Yale, Harvard and Stanford universities and such companies as Genentech and Pfizer.

“I got really comfortable with tissue and organs, and I loved the human body, loved all of it. I saw organ transplant teams come into the ER when a donor had died. The hospital needed someone to assist in organ collection, and I was good at procurement, so they tagged me to assist with the organ transplant teams. That’s when I got exposed to organ and tissue collection. That was the first ‘light bulb’ for me to start this company.”

Dyer was employed by a small Bay Area company that specialized in collecting tissue for medical research. “I came in contact with researchers who said they waited six to eight months for adult liver tissue. I couldn’t believe it,” she says. “I asked, ‘Why don’t you get it from the transplant banks if they can’t use it?’ The thing is, the banks spend a lot of money doing that type of collection, and they’re not about to hand it over to a researcher for $500 or $1,000. Transplantable corneas are worth about $24,000 to eye banks, for example. So I became passionate trying to figure out how to change those things. I didn’t know where it would lead. I just saw it as a problem and wanted to fix it.”

Stem Express is now a multi-million dollar company that provides human blood and tissues for researchers all around the world.

Dyer said that samples can get as specific as age, gender and ethnicity, she told a local news outlet.

In 2012, according to the most recent 990 filed Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest paid Sheehan $323,037 base compensation plus $6,000 in BONUS INCENTIVE COMPENSATION (wonder why?) $5169.00 in deferred compensation and $675.00 on other compensation for a total of $334,881.

CMP also captures undercover footage of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains’ (PPRM) Vice President and Medical Director Dr. Savita Ginde.

Savitaginde-pic-from-ohio-app2Previous to the three year baby parts investigation Ginde was sued by an abortion claiming the abortion facility forced her to undergo an abortion without anesthesia and then left part of her baby’s body inside of her.

In 2009″ Planned Parenthood bragged that their “clinical research” was enhanced by Ginde writing in a PPRM publication:

PPRM’s leadership role in advanced reproductive health care and clinical research has significantly grown with the appointment of Dr. Savita Ginde as medical director in 2004. Prior to PPRM, she conducted numerous clinical research trials within the reproductive health care specialty and, fortunately for us, continued this practice upon joining our team.

Adding:

The Clinical Research division is currently working to increase PPRM’s participation in clinical trials and behavioral and environmental studies. Our goal is to become a research leader within Planned Parenthood Federation of America and to continue providing high quality care to our clients.

In 2010 alone Savita Ginde, as the Medical Director of Planned Parenthood took in over $269,000 in salary.

By 2012, that amount rose to $270,327 in reportable compensation for only 20 hours a week of work plus $21,335 in OTHER COMPENSATION!

This is where my ability to remain without emotion kicks in.

What they show in the next view moments behind the walls of the Planned Parenthood lab brings back haunting memories for me. That is because years ago, I found and later buried the remains of several aborted children from a local abortion clinic.

Baby Parts PP 2

I realize the CMP video is exposing the gruesome industry of trafficking in baby parts, but, I must stop here and focus on these children.

To Planned Parenthood these children are just “specimens” whose organs get them additional dollars in their already profitable industry.

Planned Parenthood sees this in a baby

That attitude is emphasized by a former Stem Express employee in the CMP vid.

Holly Odonnell Stem Express Planned Parenthood

Holly O’Donnell is a licensed phlebotomist who tells CMP that she unsuspectingly took a job as a “procurement technician” at the fetal tissue company and biotech start-up StemExpress in late 2012 after responding to an ad.

“Stem Express is a company that hires procurement techs to draw blood and dissect dead fetuses and sell the parts to researchers,” the former employee states.

The owner, Cate Dyer, she used to be a procurement tech and then she went and started her own business. And now she’s making a lot of money based off the poor girls who half the time don’t even want to get abortions.” O’Donnell adds.

Cate Fyer of Stem Express fetal body parts

In a previous post on how aborted baby organs are implanted in animals I note that, Cate Dyer, CEO and founder of Stem Express, has claimed that all “donors”, that is the pregnant women seeking the abortion and not the unborn child whose kidney’s were taken, are, “properly consented through an Institutional Review Board (IRB) consent, and donors are made aware of the potential use of any sample that we collect.”

In addition, I detail the IRB’s rules on fetal tissue research which governs the industry.

The IRB review boards states on the HHS website, “The fetus has a unique and inextricable relationship to the mother. It cannot consent to be a research subject. These circumstances have aroused lengthy public debate on the ethics of fetal research, and led to special federal regulations that guide IRB deliberations about fetal research. The fetus may also be an indirect subject of research when women who may be pregnant participate. Research involving pregnant women is also regulated.”

IRB Fetal Research

However, in detailing how to obtain aborted fetal tissue, the IRB says the following should be followed:

The decision to terminate a pregnancy and procedures of abortion should be kept independent from the retrieval and use of fetal tissue.
The timing and method of abortion should not be influenced by the potential uses of fetal tissue for transplantation or medical research.
Payments and other forms of remuneration and compensation associated with the procurement of fetal tissue should be prohibited, except payment for reasonable expenses occasioned by the actual retrieval, storage, preparation, and transportation of the tissues.

Addressing the possibility of research on a live fetus where the mother has already decided to have an abortion, The IRB says that, “The National Commission for the Protection of Human Subjects wrestled with this problem and concluded that there is no difference between the moral status of a fetus destined for abortion and that of a fetus to be carried to term. Therefore, only those research procedures that would be acceptable for a fetus going to term may be performed in anticipation of abortion.”

O’Donnell emphasized to CMP that the partnership Stem Express has with Planned parenthood gives them a financial benefit.

The 24-year-old phlebotomist said she had no idea she would be procuring organs from aborted fetuses.

The harder and the more valuable the tissue, the more money you get,” O’Donnells says in the video.

So, if you can somehow procure a brain or a heart you’re going to get more money…I guess that’s an incentive to try and get the hard stuff,” she said.

Baby
But, she said that she did not want to lose the job and even though she passed out in shock when she first saw the area where the babies are dissected, she went along with it for the job.

She then describes her first day at a “Concord clinic” where she met the staff and looked over in a corner where there was a “little white tray with pie dishes on it.”

And then I see someone come in with a bottle of something and there was blood in it…Then they went over to the sink and they emptied it out on a strainer and put it on the pie dish and light it up. And I’m like looking and what’s going on…

Aborted Babies pie boal PP

And my trainer comes over and she puts on gloves and she grabs some tweezers and she’s picking the parts away from the vaginal tissue…

So, I’m looking and I don’t know what’s going on. I had no idea this is what was going to be happening especially my first day, And she’s literally she has tweezers and she’s like okay well this is a head, this is an arm, this is a leg. And she hands them over to me and oh here you go can you show me some of the parts I just showed you?”

Holly Odonnell described aborted baby parts Planned Parenthood

So, I did what she said and the moment I took the tweezers I put them in the dish – I remember grabbing the leg and I said this is a leg and the moment I picked it up I could just feel like [inaudible] and pain. Like I never felt like that before like shoot up through my body. And I started to…I blacked out.

“They got the smelling salt. woke up in the recovery room and looking around- was really embarrassed. You know, who faints at their first job? And one nurse looks at me and is like, Oh – you’re new huh? And, I’m like yeah. Don’t worry it still happens to a bunch of us…Some of us don’t ever really get over it.

“And, I remember leaving that day like what have I gotten myself into,” O’Donnell stated.

Although I can relate to what she saw having a similar shocking reaction to the body parts I found of aborted babies (shown to the left), I was reminded of an old episode of Quincy.

Quincey

In the TV series centered around a medical examiner who solves crimes, Quincy played by Jack Klugman was in a rush to get through a scheduled police training session using cadavers.

Without preparation or warning, Quincy quickly removes the sheet from the dead victim causing each officer to faint at what they see.

But, this is not fiction, this is real.

Tragically, the behind the scene images of aborted babies shown in the CMP video are a haunting reminder of what I saw so many years ago.

And so….we must remember who the real victims of this Mengele-like operation are: Unborn Children!

planned-parenthood-video-crush-b

Shortly after the first Planned Parenthood videos from CMP were released showing their top medical directors bragging about crushing above or below specific human organs or using a “less crunchy” technique to procure “whole specimens” I wrote an Op-Ed reflecting on the horror where I ask, “When it comes to Planned Parenthood’s ghoulish crimes, are we all guilty?”

Writing in part:

I am sitting at my desk, taking a moment of reflection over the past week, what I have witnessed, listened to and read. I am disturbed – even haunted and somehow – I am not surprised.

The news of Planned Parenthood’s grisly baby parts operation has been a daily source of news, social media posts, blogs, and videos. I have been caught up in it all, and now…I reflect.

I think about what is happening in this nation – of 42 years of legalized abortion on demand.

As I ponder what has taken place this last week, I am not shocked that babies are being chopped up and sold for parts like an old car in a junkyard.

I am not shocked, because every day, more than 3,000 beautifully formed, innocent babies are snuffed out in their mother’s wombs by abortion.

What shocks me more than hearing what groups like Planned Parenthood are doing with their remains is the lack of concern for these tiny humans on a daily basis.

Continuing:

Are we not moved to tears by the mere ripping apart, in early suction abortions, of their innocent arms, legs lungs and kidneys on a daily basis? Can we not envision the horror of the abortionist’s knife grasping the limbs, torso, and head of the second trimester unborn child in a D&E abortion?

We have to ask ourselves these tough questions.

Which is more evil? An abortionist who finds ways to profit from every aspect of the bloody procedure or an apathetic sideliner who scolds him for unethical business practices instead of for his murderous actions? Have we become so accustomed to abortion that the real crime of it – the taking of a valuable human life, created in the image of God – is not the overall cause of our outrage?

Yes – Planned Parenthood MUST be defunded, investigated, and exposed.

Yes- the harvesting of human baby body parts is a gruesome industry.

But, we can never forget where those “parts” come from.

Aborted baby arm

They are removed from a human baby who is brutally executed for convenience and then chopped up inside a death mill and sold for spare parts.

Is this really what “feminism” and “choice” and “empowerment of women” has come to?

Is this what America wants to go on record being in favor of?

As I wrote in my Op-Ed, Nazi Holocaust survivor Eva Kor once pointed out that despite the evils of Hitler’s regime, good people stayed silent:

Hitler was a terrorist who rose to power because good people said nothing, she said.

“The key word here is terrorist. Terrorists have no respect for human life,” she said. “In Germany, not all Germans were Nazis. There were many good Germans — but nobody spoke up.”

Who will speak up for these babies?

You can read the entire Op-Ed here and you can visit my blog post where I witnessed the bloodied remains of aborted babies here.

New research: harvest organs from aborted fetuses to implant in animals

UPDATE NOTE: This blog was posted before The Center for Medical Progress (CMP) released videos showing Planned Parenthood’s operation of harvesting aborted baby parts. As I note in this post, Stem Express, which procured fetal parts from Planned Parenthood is listed as a source for these babies implanted into animals. The Washington Examiner writes of Gu, that, through his start-up research company, Ganogen, Gu has obtained fetal organs from StemExpress, which is being investigated by the House of Representatives Select Investigative Panel on Infants’ Lives. It is noteworthy that Gu and Stem Express owner Cate Dyer have authored a response together to the Select Panel investigating the use of fetal tissue.

It is now feasible to remove a kidney from an aborted human fetus and implant the organ into a rat, where the kidney can grow to a larger size. That was a statement written in an article published by The Genetic Literacy Project.

It’s possible that further work could find a way to grow kidneys large enough that they could be transplanted into a person, the researchers said, although much more research is needed to determine whether this could be done, the article states.

The new findings are published in the American Journal of Transplantation.

eugene-gu

The research, co-authored by Eugene Gu (Guhe) founder and CEO of Ganogen, Inc., a biotech company in Redwood City, California, raises a number of ethical questions, including whether it is acceptable to use human fetal organs in research, or to transplant human organs into animals. If the research moves forward, it must be determined that the organs were obtained with proper consent, and that the research was conducted with adequate oversight, experts told CBS News.

On their website, Ganogen, Inc., says that they have found a way to successfully transplant human fetal kidneys, livers, hearts, lungs, and other organs into animal hosts using advanced microsurgery.

We also use our patented medical device, the arterial flow regulator, to make the fetal organ compatible for transplantation into the adult animal host.

“After transplantation, the fetal organ continues to grow and mature. It even demonstrates function, and in the case of the kidney, can keep the host animal alive all on its own,” they explain.

According to CBS, Gu and his colleagues obtained human fetal kidneys from Stem Express, a Placerville, California-based company that supplies researchers with tissue from deceased adults and fetuses.

On their website, Stem Express writes that their “human tissue products range from fetal to adult and healthy to diseased, and we also collect bone marrow and leukapheresis for isolation.”

They go on to say that, “Working with hospitals and clinics across the United States, all human tissue and blood procurement is performed in accordance with IRB-approved protocols and consents. Protecting the privacy of our researchers and donors is always the highest priority at StemExpress.

The company, which operates in more than 30 procurement sites across the United States and delivers product to hundreds of researchers worldwide has an online market of fetal cells that be purchased:

According to Gu, people who donated the fetal tissues gave consent for the kidneys to be used in research.

The researchers transplanted the fetal kidneys into adult rats that lacked an immune system (so as to avoid tissue rejection), and connected the animals’ blood vessels to the organs using a challenging procedure that involved tiny stitches, about three to four times smaller than the width of a human hair.

Kidney Transplant fetal Ganogen abortion

We did this study in rats as proof-of-concept to show that human fetal organs can indeed survive in an animal host, can function to keep the animal alive, and can grow larger over time,” Gu told Medical Daily. The rats survived roughly four months after the transplant, and one even lived for 10 months.

Cate Dyer, CEO and founder of Stem Express, claimed that all “donors”, that is the pregnant women seeking the abortion and not the unborn child whose kidney’s were taken, are, “properly consented through an Institutional Review Board (IRB) consent, and donors are made aware of the potential use of any sample that we collect.”

IRB Fetal Research

The IRB defines a Fetus as, “the product of conception from the time of implantation until delivery. If the delivered or expelled fetus is viable, it is designated an infant. (Hereafter, the term “fetus” will refer to a living fetus unless otherwise specified.) The term “fetus” generally refers to later phases of development; the term “embryo” is usually used for earlier phases of development.

Research involving the human fetus raises special concerns for IRB reviewers, the review boards states on the HHS website, “The fetus has a unique and inextricable relationship to the mother.

IRB Research abortion fetus

Under the section: CONSIDERATIONS, the IRB address abortion, “If abortion is involved, the investigators may have no part in either the decision to abort or decisions about the timing or the method to be used; no change in the abortion procedure that would present more than minimal risk to the fetus or its mother can be introduced for research purposes. No monetary or other inducements (e.g., free care) may be offered to a woman to induce her to terminate her pregnancy for research purposes, IRB states.

In another section the IRB addresses research on non-viable fetuses, “A fetus is judged nonviable if it cannot possibly survive to the point of sustaining life independently, even with the support of available medical therapy, and will therefore die. Research involving a nonviable fetus that would either artificially maintain vital functions or hasten their failure is forbidden. Ethical considerations call upon investigators to maintain the dignity of this dying human subject and to avoid unseemly intrusions in the process of dying for research purposes.

In all research in which human fetuses are the subjects of research, the consent of the mother on behalf of the fetus is required. As a general rule, the consent of the father on behalf of the fetus is also required before a fetus may be enrolled in research. Exceptions to the requirement that the father provide consent are permitted if: (1) the father’s identity or whereabouts cannot reasonably be ascertained; (2) the father is not reasonably available; or (3) the pregnancy resulted from rape,” IRB states.

Rats Human Kidney abortion fetus

In addition to kidneys, the researchers have also transplanted human fetal hearts into rats, Gu told CBS, which details the process.

Ultimately, the researchers plan to transplant the kidneys into larger animals, such as pigs, where the organs could grow large enough to be transplanted back into people, Gu said.

Hank Greely, an ethical and legal expert on biomedical science at Stanford Law School outlined his concerns, “The key issues are the existence of the pregnant woman’s consent and the total separation of the decision to abort from the decision to let the fetal remains be used in research,” Greely told Live Science.

In other words, a woman must have already decided to have an abortion before she can be asked whether she is willing to donate the fetus for research.

We feel that our research is more palatable than all the other researchers who use taxpayer money to fund their research involving aborted human fetal tissues, which is the vast majority of major biomedical research labs,” Gu said to Medical Daily.

Addressing his use of harvested organs from aborted fetuses, Gu says he and his colleagues “do not want to encourage abortions in any way, shape, or form. … If the organs are available, it is better to use them to save somebody’s life rather than throw them into the trash bin.”

Undoubtedly, writes Medical Daily, Gu’s argument is probably echoed in many research labs around the world. That said, most people would still find the details of his work unsavory… unless of course they needed a kidney, they say.

But, they fail to mention, religious, pro-life people, and many others find the use of aborted fetal tissue or organs for research morally objectionable.

SECOND UPDATE: CMP’s 5th video transcript implies Planned Parenthood is using the aborted babies for “mice” studies and “Humanized mice”.

The Center for Medical Progress released a 5th video showing the nation’s largest Planned Parenthood abortion facility offering intact fetal cadavers which they refer to as “specimens.”

Center for Medical Progress, posing as buyers for a Biotech company sat with the Director of Research for Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, Melissa Farrell, at the abortion-clinic headquarters of Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast in Houston, Texas.
