Feminist leader ousted from women’s movement for defending right to life

The National Organization for Women (NOW) claims it was the first women’s organization to pass a resolution in favor of liberalizing abortion. NOW founder Betty Friedan openly admitted it was men (Lawrence Lader and Bernard Nathanson) who persuaded her to make abortion part of NOW’s agenda. As a result, abortion drove a wedge within NOW’s membership, resulting in several pro-life members departing the organization.

NOW’s intolerance toward pro-life beliefs drives women away

In 1975, syndicated columnist Nick Thimmesch detailed the dismembership of Karen Lorene Ahern from a NOW chapter in Fresno, California.

“I was hounded out after they learned I was in the pro-life movement,” Lahern told Thimmesch. “They would change meeting places and times without telling me and hassle me at meetings. It’s ironic that I can’t be for equal pay and the other issues and still be against abortion.”

Pro-life feminist on abortion: “These men have women right where they want them”

Pat Goltz joined NOW’s Columbus, Ohio, chapter in 1970 because she opposed the feminist movement being taken over by radicals with a pro-abortion agenda. She wanted to influence members toward a pro-life view.

“I was opposed to them taking a stand in favor of abortion because I didn’t want them corrupting the feminist movement with that because it was so evil…. They weren’t interested,” Goltz told Live Action News.

Goltz became unpopular with NOW leaders after referring to the abortion industry as “baby terminators,” and calling abortion a “male chauvinist rip off.”

READ: Pro-abortion feminism has failed to address the injustices women face

In May 1974, Goltz told a pro-life audience (reports The Fairborn Daily Herald) :

The baby terminators argue that abortion gives the woman the right to control her own body, but when men are making millions of dollars from women trying to control their own bodies I say abortion is a male chauvinist rip off. When women call this rip off liberation these men have women right where they want them…

The feminist movement is dedicated to the gaining of rights for minority groups of which the unborn is unquestionably the most helpless and yet I was kicked out of the National Organization for Women (NOW) because I insisted on defending the right to life of these babies.

No “right to choose” freedom of thought in NOW

Goltz’s conflict with NOW was detailed in December 1974 by commentator John D. Loften, Jr. “It is her outspoken opinion that ‘permissive abortion’ kills unborn young women and men and exploits their mothers, that has brought her into conflict with her sisters,” Loften wrote.

“In voicing her pro-life views, Ms. Goltz has run smack into official NOW policy, while not endorsing abortion does support the so-called women’s ‘right to choose.’ So, now, because she has exercised her own right to choose, and chosen to be against abortion, and because she has engaged in such subversive activities as passing out pro-life literature at NOW meetings and seeking to persuade new members to oppose abortion, tonight, an eight member committee will recommend that her membership be revoked.”

Loften scathingly wrote, “In a letter inviting her to her own burning at the stake, prior to the committee having already lighted the fire, Columbus NOW president Erica Scurr reminded Ms. Goltz (emphasis added):

As you know the ‘right to choose’ is a fundamental tenet of the policy of the National Organization for Women. Members may not speak publicly or act politically in contradiction to this policy and simultaneously maintain membership.

Loften, then inquired of NOW’s chapter president how NOW could remove membership based on Goltz’s beliefs.

Loften quoted Scurr’s response:

This is understood in belonging to an organization. If you’re going to belong to them, you’re going to have to support a policy. And if you don’t support them you’re pretty much going to have to keep your mouth shut.

Goltz told Live Action News that she was expelled from NOW after that meeting.

“They voted against me as soon as I left the room. They can’t defend a bad point of view. They have to stifle a good point of view,” Goltz said. “A lot of these women have had abortions and suffered terribly — so they have to get more and more to agree with them so it is justified. At that meeting I defended the rights of unborn women, and they didn’t like it.”

Goltz now refers to pro-abortion feminism as “passé.”

The founding of Feminists For Life

Banishment from NOW did not deter Goltz, who, in 1972, co-founded Feminists for Life (FFL) with Catherine Callaghan.

“Pat and Catherine were deeply disturbed because the women’s movement was caving into the demand of the patriarchy by allowing itself to be used by rich industrialists, the population control movement and the playboy movement….” wrote former FFL president Rachel MacNair.

“They believed that feminist organizations were failing to provide viable alternatives to abortion for individual women and abandoning them to abortionists and abortion referral services who would exploit their misery.”

“Pro-life feminism is the wave of the future and its time has come. People are coming to realize that abortion, which kills innocent children, is not in the best interests of women either,” Goltz told the Athens Messenger in 1974. Apparently many women joined Goltz in her view, as the paper was forced to admit that within just months of their incorporation, Feminists for Life had encompassed members in 30 states and several countries.

Thanks to the courage of many pro-life feminists like Goltz and Ahern, the pro-life movement has flourished.

Witness: Planned Parenthood harvests brains from live baby with beating heart by cutting through his face

Posted in Aborted Baby Body Parts, Aborted baby born alive, Babies Born Alive, Dreaded Complication, Planned Parenthood sells aborted baby parts, stem Express with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on August 19, 2015 by saynsumthn

In the Center for Medical Progress’ 7th video exposing the evil and calculated way Planned Parenthood uses the baby organs from children they abort for experimentation, a former technician describes the removal of organs from a baby who was born alive.

The video recaps previous conversations with several Planned Parenthood workers describing the “intact” way that many “fetuses” are aborted. Their statements reveal a possible intentional manipulation of the abortion procedure, something that is clearly illegal according to federal laws governing the use of human tissue.

In addition, the recap is a reminder that the gruesome Partial Birth Abortion procedure which was made illegal years ago might be the very procedure used by the abortion baby parts organization. The procedure sounds gruesomely similar to partial birth abortion which was outlawed years ago and defended by then Senator Hillary Clinton- see here.

This kind of manipulation of an abortion procedure was denounced by infamous late term abortion doctor, Warren Hern, years prior.

David Daleiden lead investigator for the Center For Medical Progress previously told CNN that Planned Parenthood’s procurement company, Stem Express, “sometimes get fully intact fetuses shipped to their laboratory from the abortion clinics that they work with and that could be prima facie evidence of born alive infants …”

Due to all the public pressure, StemExpress recently said they dropped their relationship with Planned Parenthood.

Deborah Nucatola Planned Parenthood body parts lower extremeties

In the first video released by CMP, Planned Parenthood’s Senior Director of Medical Services Dr. Deborah Nucatola explained how the Planned Parenthood abortionist can “change the presentation” to breech in what some think was describing an illegal Partial Birth Abortion.

In the second release, Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s Medical Directors’ Council President, Dr. Mary Gatter is asked by CMP posing as buyers for a Biotech firm, what she would expect for intact [fetal] tissue?

“Well, why don’t you start by telling me what you’re used to paying!
” Gatter replies.

She explains, “I just don’t want to lowball,” later adding, “But it has to be big enough that it’s worthwhile for me.”

By the 5th video, horrified viewers are taken into the nation’s largest Planned Parenthood abortion facility offering “intact fetal cadavers” which they refer to as “specimens.”

Director of Research for Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, Melissa Farrell, at the headquarters of Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast in Houston, Texas, tells CMP undercover operatives that they will “deviate from our standard” to procure intact babies.

Alter process intact fetal cadavers Planned Parenthood

“We’re going to potentially have some that will be more or less intact and then some that will not be,” Farrell says.

Yeah if we alter our process and we are able to obtain intact fetal cadavers, then we can make it part of the budget that any dissections are this, and splitting the specimens into different shipments is this, I mean- that’s- it’s all just a matter of line items,” she said.

Holly OFOnnell Stem Express fully intact planned parenthood

In video seven, former Blood and Tissue Procurement Technician for StemExpress Holly O’Donnell returns telling CMP about the day she opened her computer to discover that a, “doctor had aborted a fully intact fetus. StemExpress was sending it straight to the lab.”

Perrin Larton

A similar situation appears to be described by another procurement company, Advanced BioScience Resources (ABR) procurement manager, Perrin Larton, who says, “I literally have had women come in and go in the OR and they’re back out in three minutes. And so I thought, what’s going on? Oh yeah, the fetus was already in the vaginal cabal whenever we put her in the stirrups it just fell out.

Ben Van Handel Novogen

The video also features recordings of Dr. Ben Van Handel, the Executive Director of Novogenix Laboratories, LLC. According to CMP, Novogenix is the company that has harvested fetal organs from abortions done by Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s Senior Director of Medical Services, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, in Los Angeles, while ABR is the oldest fetal tissue procurement company and works with Planned Parenthood in San Diego and other clinics around the country. Van Handel admits, “There are times when after the procedure is done that the heart actually is still beating,

Planned Parenthood Mar Monte San Jose

In the shocking video, O’Donnell later describes the harvesting, or “procurement,” of organs from a nearly intact late-term fetus aborted at Planned Parenthood Mar Monte’s Alameda clinic in San Jose, CA.

“‘I want to see something kind of cool,’” O’Donnell says her supervisor asked her.

“The moment I see it, I’m just flabbergasted. This is the most gestated fetus and closest thing to a baby I’ve ever seen,” she said.

The idea that it is cool to see an aborted unborn child is appalling enough. But what O’Donnell describes next make my stomach literally turn. She describes a baby aborted alive!

Holly OFOnnell Stem Express fully intact planned parenthood

And she has one of her instruments and she just taps the heart, and it starts beating. And I’m sitting here and I’m looking at this fetus, and its heart is beating, and I don’t know what to think.”

The San Jose Planned Parenthood does abortions up to 20 weeks of pregnancy. Referring to the beating heart of the aborted fetus, O’Donnell called it “electrical currents” causing the baby’s heart to keep beating and remarking, “I don’t know if that constitutes it’s technically dead, or it’s alive.”

O’Donnell said the intent was to procure baby’s brain, That means we’re going to have to cut the head open,” she tells CMP.

She was instructed to “go through the face” of this baby whose heart is beating, in order to procure the brain tissue. She emotionally said, “No, I don’t want to do this.”

Holly ODonnell Planned Parenthood heart face organs abortion

Pointing to her chin, O’Donnell details her instructions noting that this Mengle-like order is what caused her to want to quit her job:

She was told to make “an incision right here, and goes, I would say to maybe a little bit through the mouth. And was like, okay can you go the rest of the way?” She reluctantly agreed.

“So she gave me the scissors and told me I have to cut through the middle of the face. And I can’t even describe what that feels like. And, I remember picking it up and finishing going through the rest of the [inaudible]. And Jessica picking up the brain and putting it in the container …And, I’m just sitting there like- what did I just do. And that was the moment I knew I couldn’t work with the company any more…I don’t want to be that person.”

State and federal law require that the same treatment be given to an infant born-alive after an abortion as to a normally delivered baby (1 U.S.C. 8, CA Health and Safety Code 123435). California law also prohibits any kind of experimentation on a fetus with a discernible heartbeat (CA Health and Safety Code 123440). StemExpress has been cited in published scientific literature as a source of fetal hearts used for Langendorff perfusion, which keeps a heart beating after it is excised from the body: http://www.hindawi.com/journals/omcl/2015/730683/

Interestingly, a Florida Planned Parenthood lobbyist actually defended not helping babies born alive after abortion. Her exchange with lawmakers in the state was caught on video:

Timothy Liveright Screen_Shot_2013-06-03_at_12.23.36_PM-240x171

According to USA today, an abortionist who is under scrutiny in Delaware also works for Planned Parenthood in Pennsylvania and New Jersey:

TIMOTHY FOUCH LIVERIGHT currently is licensed to practice only in Pennsylvania, where he said he has worked at Planned Parenthood in West Chester and clinics in Philadelphia. He is not currently practicing medicine there, he said.

He once worked for Planned Parenthood in Trenton, N.J., Liveright said, but he let his license expire in 2011. Agency officials in those states would not comment on Liveright. And Third Age has him listed as Planned Parenthood of the Mercer Area.

And the state of California has him listed there as license. Actually according to Healthgrades, Liveright is working at Planned Parenthood, San Jose if you match the addresses at both websites.

According to Triage Health– Liveright also worked at Planned Parenthood Dover Center in Dover, De. and This website says he worked at 40 E Delaware AveNewark DE 19716 ..but if you look up 140 E Delaware Ave Newark DE 19711 – you get a Planned Parenthood in Newark, DE.

815 Eddy St Ste 100 San Francisco, CA 94109 Shows a Super Pages listing for Planned Parenthood San Francisco formerly known as Planned Parenthood Golden Gate.

In Florida his license has been voided.

By his own account, Timothy Liveright has performed about 50,000 abortions across the country over nearly three-plus decades, most recently for Planned Parenthood of Delaware.

He even played an abortion doctor in a 2010 movie starring Hollywood heavyweights Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams.

Last week, though, Liveright, 68, found himself under scrutiny in Delaware as nurses criticized his practices and behavior during a packed state Senate hearing, and state officials formally accused him of incompetence and misconduct that put patients in danger.

He now lives on a farm near Allentown, Pa., and for the past few years Liveright flew his single-engine plane to Delaware about once a week to work at clinics in Wilmington and Dover. He’d perform as many as 30 abortions a day, he said, making about $60 per procedure and from $5,000 to $10,000 a month, depending on demand.

Liveright’s work in Delaware came to an abrupt end in April after the state began a second round of investigations in less than a year into complaints that his practices were sloppy and his behavior strange.

Liveright said he often worked for nonprofits and before becoming an abortionist had treated the homeless and patients with AIDS, explaining that he was an advocate of “social medicine.”

When he came to Delaware in late 2002, he worked for Planned Parenthood. He said the experience was rewarding but he let his license lapse in 2005 while he worked for their clinics in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. “I love the organization,” he said.

He returned to Delaware in 2009 after renewing his license, and usually flew every Friday to New Castle County Airport for a day of work at the Wilmington clinic.

It was during this period that he made a brief appearance in the movie, “Blue Valentine,” playing an abortionist. In his one scene, Liveright begins giving the character played by Michelle Williams an abortion, but she decides she doesn’t want to go through with it and leaves the treatment room.

During his second stint in Delaware, Liveright said, Planned Parenthood was beset by “a rather tumultuous administrative set of headaches.”

The Wilmington clinic’s practices also left much to be desired, he said. “I’ve been around, and this place was definitely less well-organized than other places I’ve been,” he said. “A lot of it was management was not at the top of their game.”

Liveright also questioned the judgment of state regulators who investigated allegations by former clinic nurses Joyce Vasikonis and Jayne Mitchell-Werbrich about him and the clinic. They cleared him late last year of any wrongdoing but now consider him a danger, an action he labeled “double jeopardy.”

BACKSTORY:

The Delaware Attorney General’s Office filed a complaint Thursday against former Planned Parenthood abortion doctor Timothy F. Liveright, citing him for unprofessional, incompetent and negligent conduct during his practice at the Wilmington clinic and calling him a “clear and immediate danger to the public.”

Contacted by phone Thursday evening, Liveright, 68, said such charges were “scandalous” for the state to make.

Liveright, who last month voluntarily surrendered his license to practice medicine in Delaware, performed abortions at the Planned Parenthood clinic on Shipley Street. He called the complaint “double jeopardy,” noting that similar complaints were investigated and dismissed last fall.

“It’s pure bullshit,” he said. “They’re jumping on whatever they can jump on. I don’t know what their agenda is, but I don’t think I’m a danger to the public.”

Clinic PP DE

According to the complaint, Liveright was reprimanded by Planned Parenthood of Delaware for “unprofessional, disrespectful, and inappropriate” conduct that included “yelling, screaming, and cursing” in front of employees and patients and sexual harassment of female employees.

The state also charged Liveright with incompetence and negligence related to abortions he performed on five patients from Feb. 12 to March 13 of this year.

Liveright has 20 days to respond to the complaint, according to James Collins, director of the Division of Professional Regulation. The Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline will hear the case or refer it to an administrative hearing officer for recommendation.

Collins said the board has several sanctions available, including license revocation, a fine, suspension, probation and reprimand.

Specifically, the complaint cited Liveright for:

• Oversedating patients

• Performing unnecessary suction procedures

• Failing to properly assess a patient’s airway, lungs and heart prior to administering sedation

• Failing to properly assess patients

• Failing to properly administer oxygen

• Failing to adequately document procedures and results of procedures in patient charts

• Failing to consider alternative treatments

• Causing at least one perforation during surgery

• Failing to properly supervise resident physicians during procedures

• Failing to act with due competence and diligence to avoid unnecessary complications, resulting in patients requiring emergency hospital treatment

Liveright said his attorney will go “full force ahead” in his response to the complaint.

“They’re beating the same drum,” he said. “It’s an echo. They feel they have to do something – but it’s already been done.”

The state started the investigation earlier this year when several emergencies arose after abortions Liveright performed at the Wilmington clinic. A small cadre of anti-abortion protesters witnessed the arrival of ambulances and raised questions. Two former Planned Parenthood nurses then came forward with complaints they had filed in 2012 against the doctor and clinic.

Liveright left the staff of Planned Parenthood in late March. In April, he sent a letter to the Division of Professional Regulation, saying he had “retired from practicing medicine in Delaware and [had] no intentions of ever seeking practice there in the future,” according to the complaint.

“He is still accountable for any actions that may have occurred while he was licensed here,” Collins said. “He is still subject to sanctions.”

Liveright has performed abortions in several states across the country, but several of those medical licenses are no longer in effect. He still is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania. When asked if he was practicing there, Liveright said, “None of your business.”

PP Baltimore Jane Mitchel WDelaware Planned Parenthood staffer RN Jayne Mitchell-Werbrich, , who worked at Planned Parenthood Delaware’s Dover and Wilmington clinics for 3-1/2 months in 2012, spoke to Jill Stanek and revealed many troubling aspects of the abortion clinic she walked out of.

Jane claims she sent documentation and letters of complaint about the abortion clinic to Planned Parenthood who ignored them.

Other incidents, excerpted from a letter Jane wrote to her bosses (with slight grammatical editing):

“During a procedure that another doctor was performing, Dr. Liveright entered the room to see how things were proceeding. The doctors had a conversation regarding the faulty equipment in front of the patient…. After the doctors finished their conversation, Dr. Liveright struck the patient’s right lateral thigh with force with his opened hand, stating ‘BREATHE!’ The patient, shocked and puzzled, looked at me as if to say, ‘What is he doing?’ I suggested that Dr. Liveright must have some sort of unusual technique to help distract patients from the discomfort of the procedure. The patient looked at me, rolled her eyes, held my hand tight, and tried to relax and concentrate on her breathing. That is when Dr. Liveright peeks around the curtain (as he had not exited the room) and plays peek-a-boo with the patient. The patient then rolls her eyes and shakes her head stating, ‘He’s not right.’ The entire time this is happening, the other doctor is continuing to dilate the patient! I then stated, ‘Goodbye Dr. Liveright,’ as I pulled the curtain around his head….”

“Sexual harassment: I have noted Dr. Liveright inappropriately look up and down patients as well as staff members in a sexual kind of way. He actually stands back with a grin and slowly directs his eyes up and down a patient’s body.”

Jayne said management told her Liveright had previously been disciplined for sexual harassment against a staff member.

Jayne’s letter also described Liveright as a racist in a bizarre incident with an African-American patient:

Dr. Liveright enters the room… and states… ‘Did you know that the Belgians took over Africa and did really bad things?’…. He continues to carry this conversation on with himself while he roughly dilates and then belittles the patient…. (by the way, a patient that is crying and holding on to my hand tight, as I try to distract her from him)…. He states, ‘The United States does the same thing. Did you know that?’ The patient, with tears falling down her cheeks, shakes her head, indicating, ‘No,’ which Dr. Liveright replies, ‘I didn’t think you’d know anything about that. Yup, the United States is a big bully.’”

Jane is one of two former employees of Planned Parenthood Delaware – both registered nurses – have publicly called for investigations into the operation’s practices.

What I believe should happen is that Planned Parenthood should no longer be self-regulated,” said Joyce Vasikonis, a Dover nurse who also worked at the Wilmington site. Vasikonis was interim surgical services manager when she resigned last August.

Vasikonis describes herself as “radically pro-abortion,” but said she could not continue to work under the conditions she saw.

According to the Washington Post, the two nurses testified at a state Senate hearing about problems at the facility.

“He was a very small part of it,” nurse Joyce Vasikonis said Thursday about Liveright. “The biggest issue for me was sterility. The staff didn’t know how to maintain sterility from beginning to end.”

Vasikonis, who worked at the clinic from October 2011 to August 2012, said Liveright often failed to wear sterile gloves during abortions, but that she never saw any problems with the actual physical procedures themselves.

She also said she never saw Liveright yelling or cursing, but that she did witness an incident of sexual harassment. That incident involved Liveright teasing a young female intern about a cellphone photograph of a pierced penis that he and another male employee were looking at.

Liveright said the two nurses had legitimate concerns — not about him, but about Planned Parenthood.

“Planned Parenthood is partly to blame for all of this,” he said. “They’ve allowed this circus to continue. It’s partly because they never listened to these women to begin with.”

Liveright promised to clear his name but said he bears no ill will toward the agency.

“Women are taken care of. Abortions are done,” he said. “A couple of complications, but by and large no problem. People can complain about nit-picky stuff and the nurses were on a rampage because no one would listen within the organization.”

Despite the unwelcome allegations and the fact that he thinks Planned Parenthood has “blackballed me,” Liveright said he would consider working for them again.
