GOP lead presidential contender Donald Trump has referred to Planned Parenthood as an “abortion factory” and is now calling for them to be defunded.
This comes as Congress begins to debate the issue.
-
“The biggest problem I have with Planned Parenthood is the abortion situation. I mean it’s like an abortion factory frankly and you can’t have it! And You just shouldn’t be funding it. It should not be funded by the government,” Trump said previously on CNN’s “New Day.”
Tiesday, on Fox’s Bill O’Reilly show, Trump emphasized his called for Planned Parenthood to be defunded:
-
“I’m not supporting Planned Parenthood…I’m against Planned Parenthood…totally against. I’m against it…A lot of people say its an abortion clinic I’m opposed to that. I wouldn’t do any funding as long as they’re doing abortions and they are performing abortions so I would be totally opposed to funding,” he said.
In early August, the Senate failed in their effort to stop the use of taxpayer funds to Planned Parenthood. Instead, Republican leadership blocked a recorded vote on amendments to defund Planned Parenthood. The call for defunding reached a crescendo following the release of several videos by The Center for Medical Progress, exposing Planned Parenthood’s horrific operation of baby parts harvesting.
