The Story of Two (Three) Doors

In July, 1985, my husband and I paraded through the front door of Methodist Hospital (MH) of St. Louis Park, MN. We came to give birth to a beautiful baby girl, Bonnie Joy. Six years prior to that, I had quietly slipped into the back door of the MH which is also known as Meadowbrook Women’s clinic (MWC). I was single, lonely; frightened at that time in 1979 when I went to the (abortion) clinic…This is the STORY OF TWO DOORS.

When I entered through the front door of the MH, they insisted I ride in a wheel chair. The nurse called me Mrs. Woodley and wheeled me past a nursery room brimming with living, breathing, crying babies. Babies carefully tended and wrapped in pink and blue blankets.

In stark contrast, I entered the back door of MWC. There was no wheelchair. I was given a number for ID and directed to a waiting room after I paid the bill. Anything baby-like was strictly forbidden.

Shortly after I entered the front door my nurse strapped a monitor to my belly. Her relaxed eyes and gently touch were her offerings as she reassured me with “don’t worry; we don’t take any chances with babies.”

For 20 hours three nurses took turns recording and analyzing a rapid little heartbeat. During prenatal classes I learned that at 3 weeks after conception my baby’s heart began to beat and pump blood. Brain waves were present at 8 weeks and at 10 weeks Bonnie Joy was closing her delicate eyelids, puckering her lips and responding to touch.

When I entered that back door in 1979, the baby became an intruder-a formless, featureless blob and a dangerous one. The attitude was simple and single minded: let’s remove it.

Behind the front door, Jody, my nurse, summoned the doctor to my room to review my charts. Papers and printouts. Her eyes didn’t quite meet mine when she said that things weren’t going according to plan. After 20 hours of labor, the baby was in distress and in a difficult position for delivery. “We need your permission to do an immediate C-Section.” The doctor sensed our fear and quickly added, “We will do everything possible to protect mom and baby. We have the resources to keep both of them safe.”

The entire staff worked with only one thing on their minds: “a mother and baby are in distress; we need to save lives.” When I went through the back door, a mother and baby were also in distress, but NO ONE came to save us.

After the procedure was over I rested in the bed at the clinic. A poster in bold stark letters taped to the ceiling read. “If it weren’t for Planned Parenthood where would you be today?” That poster nauseated me more than the abortion. Filled with anger and frustration I began to weep. “You didn’t help me, “I thought. “You had the resources but you didn’t protect me or my baby.”

Today Bonnie Joy is 28 years old. Despite complications in my delivery, my family, society, and MH found resources to save our baby. They spared no expense and employed cutting edge technology to preserve the tine life. That’s what they do inside the front door.

Less than 100 feet away. A few doors down, and one wing over, tiny lives are quietly and matter-of-factly destroyed. That’s what they do behind the back door. I left the front door with a beautiful baby girl who now is a beautiful woman.

It took a third door to heal my back door wounds. Jesus said, “I am the Door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved. And will go in and out and find pasture.”

Now I spend my life pointing confused young women to the Door of life and freedom: Jesus Christ. By entering through this third door, we join a radically different community: a fellowship committed to protecting the lives of both mother and baby.

Abortion training: avoid saying “baby” use “fetus” or “pregnancy” instead

Posted in Abortion Counseling, Abortion Training, Planned Parenthood Counseling with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on January 7, 2016 by saynsumthn

A training manual on abortion tells doctors and clinicians to avoid using the word “baby” and suggests substituting “fetus” or “pregnancy instead.

Early Abortion Workbook

The Early Abortion Training Workbook published by Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health (ANSIRH) which is staffed by former Planned Parenthood and National Abortion Federation (NAF) employees, describes their training this way:

“ANSIRH’s Early Abortion Training Workbook was developed for use in a clinical setting where an experienced trainer or provider is available to lead a discussion of its didactic context and exercises. It is intended to help clinicians learn to identify key elements of informed consent counseling, recognize major psychosocial issues of importance for women who seek abortions, understand the basic steps involved with first-trimester vacuum aspiration abortions and early medical abortion service provision, and identify common complications related to first-trimester abortion care.”

Pro-lifers often point out that abortion is a money-making industry selling abortions to vulnerable women in their most difficult time of need. It is true that abortion providers will claim that they only do abortions on women who want them, but it is also true that they have developed clever marketing skills that not only bring the girls in for the abortions, but facilitate the “closure of the sale” as well. This is illustrated well in the ANSIRH training manual below which instructs abortion providers how to respond to an ambivalent patient:

Approrpiate to feder

“In deciding how to proceed,” the training manual states, “it is appropriate to trust your own instincts. Some patients, who may be having difficulty accepting responsibility for their decision, recant in an effort to make the provider or agency “responsible.” In such a case, the provider must ask for a clear statement of the patient’s intent before proceeding. For example:

“I’m not sure if you are ready to go on with the procedure tofay. If you aren’t sure, we can postpone until you are more sure.Do you need some more time?”

Then, the all-knowing abortion provider is very much aware that the woman, who is agonizing over her decision will opt to go through the abortion. In fact, the training manual tells providers, “For many women, this last moment is what they need; when faced with the possibility of NOT going forward, the other option is less appealing and they know they want to proceed,” they write.

In this training manual, ANSIRH also instructs their abortion providers to be careful what words they use … or… for that matter don’t use.

Words to avoid when a woman seeks an abortion: BABY.

The manual suggests that it would be best for abortionists to use the term: FETUS or PREGNANCY:

ABortion Training fetus baby

However, if the abortion bound patient decides to use the word “baby” the manual suggests that it is most likely because the pregnant woman may be “feeling guilt or regret.” And, if the abortion patient wants to know what happened to their “baby” the manual tells those they train to respond like this, “I examine the pregnancy tissue to make sure that you are no longer pregnant.”

ABortion Training fetus baby 2

Then, if the patient asks if the abortion will “hurt the baby” trainees are advised to say, “At this point in the pregnancy, the nervous system is still in a very early stage of development. Most brain cells are not developed and there is no pain.”

It would appear that this kind of manipulative and inaccurate training is working. The use of the term “pregnancy” in place of the rightful term “baby” when describing or counseling for an abortion can be seen across a wide spectrum of abortion businesses.

And in a brochure published by the National Abortion Federation, the term “baby” is substituted for “pregnancy” as it “attached to the uterus.”

“A medical abortion uses two medicines to end a pregnancy. The first one (either mifepristone or methotrexate) weakens the attachment of the pregnancy to the uterus.”

A pregnancy can attach to the uterus?

The Feminist Women’s Health Center abortion clinic chain tells women their D+C abortions are used to “remove the tiny pregnancy.”

“If you are at least 6 weeks by ultrasound, you can choose to have a surgical abortion, in which the cervix is dilated and suction aspiration is used to remove the tiny pregnancy.”

The Philadelphia Women’s Center abortion clinic refers to the “baby” in a second trimester abortion as the removal of a “pregnancy” as well:

When the dilation of your cervix is complete you will be taken to the operating room, and a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) will administer IV sedation. The surgery will begin when the physician inserts a speculum into your vagina in order to view your cervix. If necessary, the physician will then dilate (open) your cervix more by inserting thin, metal rods, one by one, into the opening of the cervix. These rods, also called dilators, gradually increase in width. The physician will then use surgical instruments and vacuum aspiration (suction) to remove your pregnancy. The surgery usually takes approximately 10 to 20 minutes. After your surgery, you will be monitored in our recovery room until you are medically cleared to go home, usually about 45 minutes.

The Houston Women’s abortion clinic also fails to use the term “baby” when it tells women they “remove the pregnancy from the uterus”

“Most commonly known as vacuum aspiration, is performed after we give you oral (vicodin and valium) and IV medication (valium and stadol). A very small plastic tube about 1/10 of an inch is used to remove the pregnancy from the uterus with gentle vacuum. The way Dr.Rosenfeld performs a vacuum aspiration usually takes less than one minute with very little to no pain.”

Planned Parenthood used the term “remove the pregnancy” rather than “baby” in a pamphlet which describes an early surgical abortion:

In CLinic ABortions

“When your cervix is stretched open enough, the contents of your uterus (womb) are taken out with suction. Suction is used by putting a small plastic tube into your uterus and connecting it to a hand-held or electric suction machine. Surgical tools may be put into the uterus through the opening in the cervix. The way it is done will depend on how long you’ve been pregnant. You may feel cramping during and after the abortion as your uterus gets smaller. Your doctor may also use a curette (a thin surgical tool) to remove the pregnancy. What has been removed will be looked at to help make sure the abortion is finished.”

An example of this kind of spin was described by a Planned Parenthood employee who claims she aborted “the Pregnancy” at Planned Parenthood. In a video message, Shawanna says Planned Parenthood gave her three options:

I told them my situation – they gave me three options: Keeping the pregnancy, have an abortion or adoption. I chose abortion. It was the best option for me at the time…it was the best decision.”

Shawanna used by PP

Shawanna, who is promoted as a patient, even though she works for Planned Parenthood, claims that after she aborted “The Pregnancy” her life became better because she got to finish going to school and became a certified nurses assistant who went on to work for the abortion giant. On the Planned Parenthood promotional video, Shawanna adds that she got pregnant again and was really happy the second time around and this time she kept “The Pregnancy.” She emphasizes that her abortion was good and states that she could not have imagined what her life would have been like if she “kept the pregnancy back then.”

Loving father hands newborn to neighbor after tornado, “Her little hand was cold”

Posted in News with tags , , , , , on January 2, 2016 by saynsumthn

Christmas is often a time of joy and laughter but for many this week disastrous storms turned the holiday into a season of tears. Among several heart wrenching stories, one that involved the love of a caring father emerged after his newborn baby girl became one of the 11 victims killed during Christmas weekend’s deadly outbreak of devastating tornadoes in North Texas. The baby’s father, injured and bleeding, had one request for his neighbor – to take his baby to the hospital.

In a hard hit area just north of Dallas, a rural Collin county family gathered to celebrate the arrival of their newborn baby girl just days earlier. Jose Daniel Santillano along with his wife Zuleyma and 4 children were among many families whose peaceful day after Christmas was suddenly ended by a tornado throwing their mobile home approximately a hundred feet from where it originally stood.

Neighbor, Debralee King explained to CBSDFW what happened just after the storm passed as she saw the baby’s father running toward her carrying the newborn lovingly in his arms.

“At first I didn’t realize what was going on,” she said. “I thought they were glad the storm was over.” King explained, she heard the baby’s father beg her to take his little daughter to the hospital immediately.

It’s like he trusted me with her,” King told an NBC Dallas affilliate. “He wanted me to take her to the hospital. He was frantic. His wife was still trapped at the end of the house inside. He was running across the road with his baby saying, ‘Please help me, take her to the hospital.’ He was hysterical,” she said.

Texas Tornado newborn dies

King was stunned at first, that the man would hand his child over to her, but the loving father had other family members he needed to rescue and he knew his daughter needed help. To most people like myself who watched the devastation unfold as we sat just miles from danger, the loving and trusting response of this father was overwhelming. The emotional story of Jose Daniel Santillano swept through the Texas news sites, but, tragically, the news was not good. Although the baby’s father and mother both suffered injuries and needed to be hospitalized, and their three other children made it out without harm, their 2-day-old newborn identified later as Aeleyah Santillano did not survive.

“I was holding her little fingers, When they’re little they like to curl their little fingers around you. Her little hand was cold…I kept saying please baby, please baby be okay I did the best I could but now begin to think it wasn’t enough it’s just haunting,” King said.

Captain Jim Moody of the Collin County sheriff’s department said that it was unclear whether Aleya Santillano died in the tornado or had briefly survived but the family was devastated with their loss. According to reports, a Blue Ridge church has volunteered to let the Santillanos stay in an empty parsonage while they recover.

Woman creates baby burial gowns from donated wedding dresses

A Michigan woman is turning wedding dresses into infant burial gowns to donate to grieving mothers when their newborn baby passes away. The death of an infant child usually so unexpected that parents rarely have clothes to bury them in, and this is where Angels Above Baby Gowns steps in.

Dawn Lafferty President of Angels Above Baby Gowns

Founder Dawn Lafferty, said that she created her organization in May of 2014 after watching the story of a mother in Washington State whose son was still born. “They brought her son to her wrapped in a wash cloth and when she got home she decided to use her wedding gown to make and angel outfit for him…That was the start of what later became “Angel Gowns,” she said.

Because of Lafferty’s ability to sew, she immediately searched to see if there was a group in Michigan that she could join. Unfortunately, Lafferty said that she could not find one so, she used Facebook to launch her new mission. According to Lafferty, the response was instant and within hours of posting her idea on that social media site several of her friends told her they would help. Shortly thereafter Lafferty had a basement full of volunteers to start sewing bridal dressing into precious infant burial gowns. She was soon flooded with donations.

“In the first year everything was funded by me,” Lafferty said. But, today Lafferty said her group relies on loving donations from women who want their wedding dresses used for Angel Gowns. As a result of the interest, she has created a list of drop off locations and mailing locations depending on where the donor lives. “We ask that if they would like to ship the gown that it be shipped directly to our studio. We also recommend that the donor remove part of their gown to keep as a momentum,” she said.

In just a year and a half, 2000 members have joined Lafferty’s online group where they coordinate drop off locations throughout the entire state of Michigan. “The volunteers collect the gowns for us and bring them to our studio when they have enough to make the trip worthwhile” she stated, “I have about 30 volunteer seamstresses along with photographers, volunteers that launder and dismantle gowns, a cutting department that is responsible for cutting out all gowns in varies sizes and genders, hand sewers, embellishers, pressers and a packaging department and shipping.”

Once Lafferty’s group finishes the gowns, they put them into little gift packages and donate them to hospitals. The typical package includes a burial/angel gown, a blanket, a hat, headband or bonnet, a burial wrap (which can be used to store ashes if a baby is cremated), and angel ornament, a piece of angel jewelry made from the beads and pearls from a donated gown, a pink and blue infant loss awareness ribbon, and a card.

AABG typical donation

In addition to the Angel Gowns, Lafferty said she hopes to raise funds to purchase a Cuddle Cot. “A Cuddle Cot is a cooling system that is used once the baby is born still to prevent the normal process of deterioration and allowing the family to have more time with the baby. We are also accepting monetary donation to purchase a Cuddle Cot,” Lafferty explained.

To do this, Lafferty said she has received a generous donation of brand new wedding dresses which she hopes to sell to young women on tight budgets, something that will help the new brides as well as grieving parents. “We have met some lovely people who have donated brand new high end gowns to us, so that we can offer them to brides for a donations to help fund our group, “ Lafferty said.

Angels Above Baby Gowns has grown substantially since Lafferty watched at that Washington State news report months ago. Today, Lafferty said they are even outgrowing their space, “We have outgrown our space and work area and are hoping for someone to donate a building for us to use as storage and work space,” she said, “we are all volunteers and we do this from our hearts.”

Those interested in helping in this effort can contact Dawn Lafferty’s Angels Above Baby Gowns Facebook group here.

Viral image shows Dog carrying newborn baby for help

A viral image showing a Dog carrying a newborn for help is prompting some to ask if a canine has more compassion for a human baby than humans do.

Dog finds newnborn

The baby was allegedly thrown away and the dog in Saudi Arabia rescued the child whose umbilical cord was still attached by carrying the newborn infant to a house where the dog allegedly alerted the owners the child needed help. It’s one of those, is this real moments?

According to reports, the newborn was rushed to the hospital and has survived.

As we watch horrific undercover footage of Planned Parenthood using the bodies of babies for research while they are still warm, stories like this make us scratch our heads to ask if a dog has more compassion than many humans.

One of many reasons we would question such a story and wonder if it was true. But, news sources like the Examiner say it is indeed real.

From their report:

“The publication called “Sada” in Saudi Arabia stated it is not clear if the incident took place in the Gulf Kingdom or another country, but said the dog saved the newborn’s life. The paper stated the baby had been abandoned near a trash bin. The baby’s umbilical cord was still attached.

“According to Health24.com, readers have called the entire situation “one of the most heartwarming animal-human encounters ever witnessed; a dog picked up a newborn where it was abandoned and took it to a nearby house.” Those who posted the pictures said the “dog carried the baby to the nearest house.” The occupants of the home rushed the baby girl to the hospital. “The baby’s life was saved by the dog,” and just had some superficial injuries, the paper said.”

The story has also been reported in Emirates247.com as well as LiveLeak.

Dog saves newborn

While there is skepticism as to whether this image is indeed a true picture or not there have been incidents of dogs rescuing newborns in the past which Saynsumthn has covered here.

And in this story below- a family’s pet dog alerted it’s family to check on their baby who was not breathing:

Baby pic used in Taco and Beer challenge for abortion rights

Posted in NARAL, Pro-choice People, RH Reality Blog with tags , , , , , , , on August 26, 2015 by saynsumthn

Last year, Andrea Grimes over at the pro-abortion RH Reality blog started a “Taco and Beer challenge” to raise funds to support the killing babies in the womb.

2014 Taco and Beer abortion challenge

2014 Taco and Beer abortion challenge

It was launched on the heels of the ice bucket challenge which I blogged at the time.

Grimes explained the abortion event in 2014 this way:

“The Taco or Beer Challenge couldn’t be simpler: You eat a taco and/or drink a beer, and you donate to an abortion fund. The only ice you’ll need for this challenge is the ice in your cooler, or maybe the ice in your water if you get a particularly spicy taco.”

And she claimed that abortion supporters raised $30,000 to support unregulated abortion on demand.

This month, Grimes launched a 2015 version of scarfing down a taco and guzzling beer while contributing to the slaughter of unborn children by writing:

Taco and Beer challange abortion 2015

“The 2015 Taco or Beer Challenge launches today—the anniversary of our unintentionally auspicious beginning—and lasts through September 18. Abortion funds, abortion funders, and reproductive freedom fighters around the world are hosting Taco Tuesday launch parties to celebrate. We’re calling it International Taco or Beer Challenge Day, and more than two dozen events are already planned around the world, with more to come in the next four weeks. You don’t need to complete your ToBC on Tuesday! You can do it any time before September 18…It’s about funding legal abortion care. You can’t complete the ToBC without donating to an abortion fund. It’s literally the only requirement, and therefore the most important one.”

RH REality Taco Beer 2015

The abortion rights group has created a website where participants can upload pictures they hope will encourage others to take part in by donating.

One image already published and tweeted today by NARAL shows a little baby, whose mom apparently believes it would have been okay to kill before his birth.

NARAL TAco and Beer challenge 2015 Baby'

NARAL described the baby as, “The littlest Taco Or Beer Challenger.”

Makes me want to barf! If NARAL and Grimes and all their abortion loving supporters had their way babies like that would never make out of the womb to a Taco and Beer event.

Instead their tiny arms, legs, head, brains and whole bodies would be shipped off to a procurement company to be harvested for experimentation.

Center-for-medical-progress-planned-parenthood-_4074235482570710431_n

Speaking of harvesting baby organs, right on cue, Planned Parenthood also tweeted their support of the event:

Planned Parenthood Taco Beer abortion

The abortion clinic chain has been embattled in a controversy after the pro-life group, Center for Medical Progress uploaded several videos exposing their gruesome baby parts harvesting operations.

Not surprising, neither Grimes nor RH Reality Blog or anyone else associated with the fundraiser has criticized Planned Parenthood’s harvesting scheme.

In fact, they approve of their supporters donating to them:

Planned Parenthood Grimes Taco Beer abortion

Writing on their Tumblr page:

the Taco Or Beer Challenge is about encouraging people to give abortion stigma a big fucking taco-covered middle finger by being loud and proud about directly funding abortion.

Well…Ms. Grimes I won’t raise one finger for abortion, but according to this image taken from a petri dish of aborted children inside a Planned Parenthood path lab, looks like raising fingers, arms, legs, livers, kidneys, and other baby parts is what abortion is all about.

Enjoy your Taco and Beer while you focus on this:
