Doctor: Infant who survived abortion had expression of ‘grimace’ and ‘looked as if he wanted to cry’

The death of an abortion survivor changed the life of Texas physician Dr. Ron Bryce. During the 1980s when Bryce was doing his residency at a Fort Worth hospital, he attempted to save the infant’s life. As an emergency medicine physician, Dr. Bryce recalled the day he was summoned by the neonatal intensive care unit late in the evening. He recalled receiving a code blue to the operating room and said that he had no idea what the emergency was about.

Upon arrival, he found it unusual that hospital staffers said nothing to him. “They looked at me — no one told me anything.” Then he saw the baby in the corner on a table. The mother was still sedated. Bryce later learned that the baby had survived an abortion attempt. The hospital, Bryce says, committed abortions on poor women “under the radar.”

“It was confusion in the operating room. It was confusion,” Dr. Bryce recounted.

“Usually when we get called to code blue, you have a team-coordinated effort. When I got in there, nobody wanted to talk to me — I just see the baby in the corner up against the wall on a table. It was just odd. I didn’t understand it was an abortion at that time. I just thought the baby was delivered early… it was later I started questioning people when I realized it was an abortion.”

“It really hit me in the NICU when I had the baby in the incubator. I had to write a history of visual for the little guy. Initially it was just confusion. As far as I know, I was the only one that got called in for one of those. There may have been more, but they did not talk about it,” Dr. Bryce told Live Action News. “My gut feeling at that time was that it had happened before and babies were just left to die. The abortionist didn’t want me in there. He didn’t say anything to me.”

Sadly, the child, too young to survive outside the womb at the time, ultimately died.

“The baby was too young to be viable — 21 weeks. I couldn’t just let him die. I took to the baby to the neonatal intensive unit. Some probes were too small. He survived until the next day and then died,” Dr. Bryce stated emotionally.

late-term abortion

21 weeks

Dr. Bryce elaborated further in his book Fingerprint of God:

At the time, I had been a physician for about three years. I had seen a few aborted fetuses who still had a heartbeat. But this infant wasn’t lying limp like the others were doing. He was moving his arms and legs and looked as if he wanted to cry—a rather embarrassing situation for the abortionist. The situation struck me as absurd. Just minutes earlier, this fragile human being had legally been a “nonperson” possessing no rights. Yet, after surviving the abortion, he had magically become a “person” entitled to medical care (however inadequate that care happened to be). The same system that had failed to kill him was now in charge of saving his life.

I stared down at his frail body, emotion arose in my chest with each tiny heartbeat… his breathing became more labored, he grimaced several times—evidence of a struggle with something he had no ability to comprehend. While I could see him, with his eyes fused shut he could not see me. He would never know me or remember me, but I would always remember him. Finally, his grunting quieted, movements ceased, and the grimace passed.

Dr. Bryce believes that “induced labor” was the most likely method of abortion used on the baby he tried to save. “He was born live intact, his skin wasn’t scalded, so it wasn’t saline,” he said. However, “I don’t have the reports from the mother.” (An induced labor or induction abortion is shown in the video below.)

“When they’re dying… I can’t describe it. It feels like the whole universe — a focal point of good versus evil. Especially when you are the one trying to save the child.”

Since the 1970s when the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Roe v. Wade to permit legalized abortion in America, we have heard stories about the so-called “dreaded complication” — a term abortionists have used to describe babies surviving abortions. And there are babies who survive only to be killed outside the womb, which is infanticide. One of the more infamous abortionists known for this is Kermit Gosnell, who killed babies by snipping their necks after they were aborted at his National Abortion Federation-affiliated “House of Horrors” facility in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

When the story broke about how Gosnell kept jars of feet of the babies he aborted, carelessly killed women seeking abortions at his decades long-protected abortion facility, and murdered born babies, Live Action president Lila Rose made this emotional plea:

Live Action News has detailed other instances of babies killed after they were aborted alive:

The story of little Ana Rosa Rodriguez, who survived a late-term abortion after the abortionist severed her right arm, is particularly horrific. In that case, the abortionist stopped the procedure, demanding the child’s mother come up with more money for him to proceed.

Her story was highlighted by pro-abortion talk show host Phil Donahue in the video below:

Dr. Bryce told Live Action News, “Before I treated that little boy, I was nominally pro-life.” Now, he works to end abortion.

“I didn’t realize the humanity — the horrendous things that are going on — until it was right in front of me in my hands,” said Dr. Bryce. “I remember looking down on him. I remember I promised myself that I would not have this death be for nothing.”

Abortion has been a brutal and violent procedure from day one

Doctor sees tiny living baby ‘swimming’ in amniotic sac after ectopic pregnancy

abortion, baby 8 weeks, pregnancy

In 1970, Fordham law professor Robert M. Byrn detailed his objections to abortion in a case published in the Notre Dame Law Review. Byrn, a criminal law specialist, gave explicit details of the abortion procedure in this article and also filed an unsuccessful challenge to New York’s state abortion law. Byrn wrote of the preborn baby, in part, saying, “The fetus at eight weeks has a pumping heart with fully deployed blood vessels and has all other internal organs. The face is completely formed, and the arms, legs, hands, feet, toes and fingers are partially formed. The fetus will react to tickling of the mouth or nose, and there is readable electrical activity coming from the brain.”

Byrn then shared some haunting statements from physician Paul E. Rockwell, M.D., Director of Anesthesiology at Leonard Hospital in Troy, New York, who said, “Photographs of the fetus around the eighth week present an unmistakable human baby with rather blunt features and extremities.  However, such pictures invariably have been taken after the death of the fetus following an abortion,” adding, “It is death which superimposes the bluntness of appearance.”

Rockwell went on to describe his experience seeing a child yet living after treating a woman for an ectopic pregnancy at two months:

Eleven years ago while giving an anesthetic for a ruptured ectopic pregnancy (at two months gestation) I was handed what I believe was the smallest living human being ever seen. The embryo sac was intact and transparent. Within the sac was a tiny (approx. 1 cm.) human male swimming extremely vigorously in the amniotic fluid, while attached to the wall by the umbilical cord. This tiny human was perfectly developed, with long, tapering fingers, feet and toes. It was almost transparent, as regards the skin, and the delicate arteries and veins were prominent to the ends of the fingers.

The baby was extremely alive and swam about the sac approximately one time per second, with a natural swimmer’s stroke. This tiny human did not look at all like the photos and drawings and models of “embryos” which I have seen, nor did it look like a few embryos I have been able to observe since then, obviously because this one was alive!

…When the sac was opened, the tiny human immediately lost its life and took on the appearance of what is accepted as the appearance of an embryo at this age.

It is my opinion that if the lawmakers and people realized that very vigorous life is present, it is possible that abortion would be found much more objectionable than euthanasia.

Rockwell went on to describe gruesome abortion procedures being used at that time, including the saline abortion (see Baby Choice) and hysterotomy abortion, as shown in this 1981 Hayes Publishing pro-life brochure (graphic image warning).

Live Action News has previously described gruesome experiments on living abortion survivors, dating back to the 1930s. University of Pittsburgh anatomist Davenport Hooker conducted research on children who survived surgical abortion by hysterotomy and, in 1952, he assembled his footage into a silent educational film called “Early Fetal Human Activity.” The film showed the muscle activity of six fetuses ranging from 8 1/2 to 14 weeks.” Video from that film can be viewed below (warning: Images may be disturbing to some)…

Byrn also quoted Dr. H. P. Dunn, of the Royal College of Surgeons and Royal College of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians regarding one of the abortion methods used:

“… to dilate the entrance to the womb, then insert a large forceps and drag out the baby and the afterbirth. This is not as easy as it sounds. The surgeon must work by touch alone. He gives a tug – a tiny arm comes away; then other fragments of the body. The head is always difficult; the skull gets crushed; the eyeballs protrude. All the time the bleeding is profuse. When the abortion has been completed,” writes Dr. Dunn.

“The problem of the disposal of the remains has to be faced by the nursing staff. Incineration is the favored method. So ends the life of another human being – thrown out with a mess of blood clots and dirty swabs, unwanted, unremembered.”

Byrn quoted Dunn on another abortion procedure:

“The woman has a general anesthetic, an abdominal incision, the womb is incised from top to bottom and the baby lifted out. It makes some weak movement of its arms and legs, and tries to breathe. Sometimes it manages a pathetic cry like a kitten; then after a few minutes it dies an asphyxial death and lies coldly in a stainless steel bowl.”

The third method is the most “scientific,” added Byrn, describing the horrific saline abortion method, which actually burns off the baby’s skin:

“A large needle,” Dr. Dunn tells us, “is inserted through the abdomen into the womb and a strong solution of salt or glucose is injected. The baby can be felt to make a few convulsive movements, and within a few minutes it dies. In about twenty-four hours labor starts and the already disintegrating baby is delivered.”

READ: Abortion survivor to Congress: ‘If abortion is about women’s rights, then what were mine?’

“Abortion is a brutal and violent procedure, which is fundamentally repugnant to the philosophy of medical practice,” Byrn stated.

Byrn later called the infamous Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion nationwide “the worst tradition of a tragic judicial aberration that periodically wounds American jurisprudence and, in the process, irreparably harms untold numbers of human beings.”

“Three generations of Americans have witnessed decisions by the United States Supreme Court which explicitly degrade fellow human beings to something less in law than “persons in the whole sense,” he said. “Are not three generations of error enough?”

16 infants in Florida born alive after surviving abortion attempts

abortion survivors

Over the past few years, a total of sixteen babies have been born alive after attempted abortions in the state of Florida, according to online reports. The information, collected by the state from abortion providers, is compiled in the report, “ITOP Report of Infants Born Alive, By County Where Terminations Occurred, Florida,” on file at the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). According to a spokesperson from the AHCA, ITOP stands for “Induced Termination of Pregnancy.”

Thus far in 2018, one baby has been born alive in Florida during an abortion attempt. In 2017, there were 11 abortion survivors. There were none recorded born alive in 2016 or 2013, but there were four abortion survivors in 2015.

A previous Live Action News report noted that in 2015 alone, there were several reports of abortion survivors: one in Michigan, five in Minnesota, and, as already mentioned, four in Florida — three in Alachua County and one in Jackson County. That same year, 5,132 elective abortions were reportedly committed on women between the 13th and 24th week of pregnancy; that number has since been updated to 5,195 with a total of 5,695 for all reasons, including various “health” reasons.

Now, only a few years later, that number has increased substantially, especially in Alachua County.

Although the documents do not indicate whether the reports of abortion survivors originated from a hospital or an abortion facility, records currently on file with the state reveal that there are only two licensed abortion facilities in Alachua County where ten babies have been reported to have survived abortion attempts since 2015. One is an abortion facility called Bread and Roses, and the other is the All Women’s Health Center, a chain which operates multiple abortion facilities in the state — including the only licensed abortion facility in Seminole County, where one baby was reported to have survived an abortion in 2017.

State records also show that there are six licensed abortion facilities in Hillsborough County, where three babies survived abortion attempts in 2017. Of those six facilities, two are Planned Parenthood centers. In Jackson County, where one baby survived an abortion in 2015, there are currently no licensed abortion facilities.

In Orange County, where another baby survived an abortion attempt in 2017, there are currently three licensed abortion facilities (down from five in 2016 and six in 2017) including two Planned Parenthood facilities and a late-term facility operated by the infamous James Scott Pendergraft.

Florida’s official definitions for how abortion providers are to file their reports define a baby born alive as one that is breathing, has a beating heart, or has voluntary muscle movements after expulsion:

Was/were the infant(s) born alive during or immediately after attempted abortion? – Select the appropriate response. “Born alive” is defined in 390.011(4), F.S. as: “Born alive” means the complete expulsion or extraction from the mother of a human infant, at any stage of development, who, after such expulsion or extraction, breathes or has a beating heart, or definite and voluntary movement of muscles, regardless of whether the umbilical cord has been cut and regardless of whether the expulsion or extraction occurs as a result of natural or induced labor, caesarean section, induced abortion, or other method.

What happened to the babies who survived the attempted abortions is unclear, as no additional information was available from the reports.

Florida law requires that “[a]n infant born alive during or immediately after an attempted abortion must be immediately transported and admitted to a hospital pursuant to s. 390.012(3)(c) or rules adopted thereunder.” The law also requires that any employee of a hospital, physician’s office, or an abortion clinic who is aware of a violation of the born-alive law must report it.

In 2013, as Live Action News has previously reported, during hearings in Florida about protecting abortion survivors, lobbyist Alisa LaPolt Snow (representing the Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates), admitted to the Florida legislature that Planned Parenthood takes issue with allowing infants born alive after failed abortions to be transported to a hospital.

In the video, the Planned Parenthood spokesperson states that the organization believes the decision about whether to assist a baby who survives and abortion should be left up to the woman and her abortion provider. The shocking dialogue shows the depraved mentality behind abortion – that even if the baby escapes the horrific procedure alive and is struggling to survive on the table, abortion providers still want the power to terminate that child’s life.

Since 2015, the state of Florida has reported nearly 221,000 abortions (YTD) including over 13,000 “elective” second trimester (13 to 24 weeks) abortions out of a total of 16,000 second trimester abortions for all reasons, including “health of the mother or baby.”

To date, the state has only reported one third trimester abortion since 2015.

Spread SHeet: Florida abortions 2015 to April 2018 YTD

Florida abortions 2015 to April 2018 YTD

Reports detailing health inspections at Florida abortion facilities for 2016 reveal that deficient practices were identified in 23 of the 68 inspections conducted by health officials that year, and 15 out of 55 in 2017. Inspectors found expired medications, missing documents, discrepancies in medical records, inadequate equipment, and one including missing documentation on gestational age, among other infractions. In addition, in 2016, state fines were issued in 20 instances where abortion facilities filed late ITOP reports. The following year, in 2017, fines were assessed in 10 instances for facilities which filed late reports.

Infants born alive inside abortion facilities have haunted the abortion industry for many years, as Live Action News has documented several times. In fact, one national news outlet even dubbed the term the “dreaded complication.” In 2013, Live Action’s undercover cameras exposed the chilling admissions of abortionists inside America’s late-term abortion industry during third trimester abortions and partial-birth abortions. Although these abortionists confess to the humanity of often viable, fully developed children, they inflict inhuman and cruel abortion procedures against them.

In the video above, you can hear one abortion staffer telling Live Action’s undercover patient that “one medical definition of a baby, I think, is, technically, until it’s born. Until then, when it’s in gestation it’s considered a fetus.”

This kind of delusional dehumanization of preborn children is the very reason why abortion is so prevalent today.

Dreaded Complication: Infants born alive during abortion haunt abortion profiteers

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on April 18, 2018 by saynsumthn

The abortion industry would like the public to believe that babies born alive after abortion attempts rarely occur. However, research shows that the so-called abortion live-birth dilemma has been haunting abortion profiteers since the days of legalization.

April 1973, Greater Bakersfield Hospital, Bakersfield, Calif.: A 4 1/2-pound infant was born live following a saline abortion (induced by an injection of salt solution) performed by Dr. Xavier Hall Ramirez. Informed by phone, Dr. Ramirez ordered two nurses to discontinue administering oxygen to the baby. His instructions were countermandated by another doctor; the baby survived and later was placed for adoption.

This above case was one of many highlighted by the Philadelphia Inquirer in a 1981 series entitled The Dreaded Complication.

The Dreaded Complication

Another example from the report described what a Nebraska abortion doctor ordered a nurse, who found a live baby boy crying following a saline abortion attempt, to do. She told the paper the following: “He told me to leave it where it was, just to watch it for a few minutes, that it would probably die in a few minutes.”

In another case from 1974, the paper recounted the prostaglandin abortion of a baby who survived the procedure, only to die later: “One of the nurses said that the baby was alive. They took the baby out of the room. He never did cry, he just made some kind of a noise.”

A young resident was the first doctor to arrive. After detecting a strong heartbeat, she took matters into her own hands. She clamped the umbilical cord and sent the baby to intensive care.

“It was a shock, a totally unique emergency situation, very upsetting to all of us,” the doctor said. “Some people have disagreed with me [about ordering intensive care for an abortion live birth] but that seems to me the only way you can go. It’s like watching a drowning. You act. You don’t have the luxury of calling around and consulting. You institute life-preserving measures first and decide about viability later on.”

In 1989,  Pennsylvania abortion doctor Joseph Melnick was convicted of infanticide after it was proven that a baby he aborted survived the abortion. Hospital staffers where the abortion occurred said that they had detected a heartbeat and saw the baby move and gasp. For this crime, Live Action News contributor Sarah Terzo reported that the judge gave him no fine or jail time – only probation and community service.

By the 1990’s additional incidents of babies surviving abortion were being reported.

In Florida, Miami Right to Life documented the case of a 23-week-old male with Down syndrome, who pro-lifers endearingly named “Baby Special,” after they were contacted by an anonymous caller who claimed she worked at the hospital where the incident occurred. The witness also called the police, telling them that the doctor smothered the baby after it lived through the abortion process.

The report, which was published in the Miami Right to Life’s newsletter just after the incident, said that the medical examiner testified that the autopsy found pockets of air in the baby’s stomach and that the child had taken a breath.

“When a fetus is aborted, sometimes there is some activity in the fetus and you normally don’t do anything. You let the fetus expire. The usual thing is just to take your time, don’t immediately do anything,” the abortionist told authorities. Authorities cleared the doctor saying there was no clear evidence that he smothered the baby.

Baby Special a Down Syndrome baby who survived abortion attempt

In 1993, a New York abortion doctor was convicted of performing an illegal third-trimester abortion which resulted in him severing the arm of a baby which survived his abortion attempt. The public was horrified by the story, causing the abortion doctor, Dr. Abu Hayat, to be nicknamed the Butcher of Avenue A.

The baby’s 20-year-old mother, Rosa Rodriguez, was estimated to be about eight months pregnant when Hayat began the $1500.00 abortion procedure on her.

Image: Baby born alive during abortion

According to the Daily News, Rodriguez described being strapped in stirrups and held down by Hayat and his assistants while she begged him to stop the abortion. She testified that she no longer wanted the abortion after Hayat inserted a four-inch needle in her stomach that appeared dirty, and she began hearing women in other rooms screaming.

Hayat was found guilty of assault on Rosa Rodriguez and her baby Ana Rosa.

After the incident, pro-abortion talk show host, Phil Donahue had the child’s mother as well as the injured infant as a guest on his television show where he described the horror of the incident. Despite the fact that Hayat practiced legally, Donahue attempted to spin the story as unrelated to the abortion issue. The truth is that every day, infants are ripped apart limb by limb during abortions – but the majority are not born alive.

In June of 1993, abortionist Abu Hayat was sentenced to prison but was released on parole in 2006. He was discharged from parole supervision in 2009 and his sentence has been officially deemed completed. He tried to have his name changed but a judge refused his request to do so.

Ana Rosa Rodriguez lost an arm in a failed abortion attempt

Doctors who perform late-term abortions or any abortion for that matter, often convince themselves that a preborn baby is not a person. This distorted view then is easily transferred onto the child if they survive the abortion attempt. An example of this was seen in an interview with late-term abortionist Kenneth Edelin.

In this discussion taped in the 1990’s, Edelin referred to the preborn child in the womb as a “developing mass of tissue within the woman.”

In the early 1970’s Edelin was charged with manslaughter in the death of a 20 to 24-week old baby boy after an abortion. The prosecution claimed that the Boston abortionist tried to asphyxiate the child inside the mother during a C-section type abortion procedure.

The Boston Globe recounted the case this way:

The abortion, which took place in 1973, began as a routine procedure: the injection of a saline solution that usually causes uterine contractions and the expulsion of the fetus. But several tries were unsuccessful, and Edelin completed the abortion by a surgical procedure known as a hysterotomy — making a small incision in the uterus, like a cesarean section, and detaching the fetus from the placental wall by hand.

A photo of the child preserved in formaldehyde was shown to the jurors.

“It looked like a baby,” a juror in the original case told the Associated Press. “[…] it definitely had an effect on me.”

The photo was called inflammatory by the defense, but it had already had an effect on the jury. Edelin’s lawyers argued that since the child was in the uterus, a “person” had never existed, so therefore a person had never died. Edelin was convicted, but it was later overturned.

Edelin, who died in 2013 has been called a hero by Planned Parenthood.

Perhaps the most famous abortion survivor is Melissa Ohden. In 1977, Ohden survived a saline abortion at seven months gestation. In 2012 she formed The Abortion Survivors Network and now works to educate the public on the realities of abortion and how often babies survive the attempt on their lives.

Gianna Jessen also survived a saline abortion and has shared her survival story through speeches and testimonials before the government.

Abortionists don’t want people to know that babies survive abortions, but each of these individuals proves that life really does begin before birth. It is the duty of each of us to respect those lives and allow them the right to be lived.

10 babies born alive after abortions in 2015 – in only 3 states

Documents from three states indicate that babies may be born alive after abortions more often then we might expect. Published data for 2015 shows that ten babies in just Florida, Minnesota, and Michigan were reported to have been born alive following an abortion attempt. The documents indicate that many more may have been born alive after abortions in previous years.

FLORIDA

report from the State of Florida reveals that in 2015, at least four babies survived abortion attempts that year. The information comes from a report entitled “ITOP Report of Infants Born Alive, By County Where Terminations Occurred, Florida,” on file at the Agency for Health Care Administration.

Image: Four babies born alive after attempted abortions in Florida in 2015

Four babies born alive after attempted abortions in Florida in 2015

According to a spokesperson from the AHCA, ITOP stands for “Induced Termination of Pregnancy.” The published data (which only goes back to 2014) showed that three babies survived an abortion in Alachua County and one in Jackson County in 2015. That same year, 5,132 elective abortions were reportedly performed on women during the 13th to 24th week of pregnancy. What happened to the babies is unclear, as no additional information was available from the report.

Florida law requires that “[a]n infant born alive during or immediately after an attempted abortion must be immediately transported and admitted to a hospital pursuant to s. 390.012(3)(c) or rules adopted thereunder.” The law also requires that any employee of a hospital, physician’s office, or an abortion clinic who is aware of a violation of the born-alive law report it.

Based on data reviewed for this article, most of the cases of live births following an abortion were reported by a hospital rather than a clinic. But public reports show that abortion clinics have experienced the “dreaded complication” of live-birth abortions as well. Live Action News has detailedseveral instances.

One chilling report from an abortion clinic came in 2005. It was documented in the heart-wrenching phone call below, made after a Florida woman contacted 911, reporting that her friend’s baby was born alive and left to die:

The mother told blogger Jill Stanek that the infant, named Baby Rowan, was delivered alive in the toilet.

“The very moment I saw my son was alive, nothing else in the whole world mattered but Rowan’s safety! I fell immediately in love with my baby boy and was afraid of nothing that I ever feared before. Only one thing mattered to me: getting Rowan help. I begged, repeatedly.”

She then relayed to Stanek how she waited 11 minutes for help to arrive while clinic workers turned ambulance drivers away claiming the call was placed by a hysterical patient.

Baby Rowan

MINNESOTA

The state of Minnesota also requires that abortion staff report whether any abortion resulted in a born-alive infant.

In 2015, there were five born-alive incidents, according to a report of induced abortions presented to the legislature. The cases occurred in “two hospitals, included in Table 1.1 as ‘Independent Physicians,’” according to the report.

Minnesota state law requires that:

When an abortion is performed after the twentieth week of pregnancy, a physician, other than the physician performing the abortion, shall be immediately accessible to take all reasonable measures consistent with good medical practice, including the compilation of appropriate medical records, to preserve the life and health of any born alive infant that is the result of the abortion.

Despite this fact, the report states that all of the infants were reported to “have lethal fetal anomalies incompatible with life and thus no measures were taken to preserve the life of these infants.”

Sadly, none of the babies survived. They were instead left to die, based on their disabilities.

MICHIGAN

report entitled “Number of Reported Induced Abortions by Evidence of Life,” from the State of Michigan, indicates that in 2015, one baby survived an abortion attempt.

The information can be found under Abortion Statistics, published by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). To view the report, scroll under the heading “Abortion,” then “Michigan Occurrences, by Evidence of Life.”

A spokesperson with MDHHS said the term “present” in the report pictured below indicates that life was present in the baby, upon the complete expulsion or extraction from the mother. The reports are sent in anonymously, and MDHHS does not conduct any follow-up to determine what occurred or whether the child survived.

Image: Babies’ evidence of life in Michigan, 2015

Babies’ evidence of life in Michigan, 2015

Information published in the State’s Physician’s Handbook on the Reporting of Abortions shows that abortion providers must answer, “Did the Fetus Show Evidence of Life When Separated, Expelled or Removed From the Woman? (yes/no).”

It goes on to define a live birth from an abortion:

Evidence of life is constituted by breathing, beating of the heart, pulsation of the umbilical cord or definite movement of voluntary muscles. A fetus showing such evidence of life must be reported as a live born, in which case BOTH AN ABORTION REPORT AND A CERTIFICATE OF LIVE BIRTH MUST BE FILED.

Additional abortion reports from previous years show that a number of babies showed “evidence of life” after abortions in Michigan:

Image: Michigan abortion evidence of life, 2011

Michigan abortion evidence of life, 2011

  • 2008 – Out of 25,970 abortions, life was present in one baby, and one was not reported.
  • 2009 – Out of 22,357 abortions, life was present in one baby.
  • 2010 – Out of 23,307 abortions, life was present in one baby. and two were not reported.
  • 2011 – Out of 23,366 abortions, life was present in five babies, and seventeen were not reported.
  • 2012 – Out of 23,230 abortions, life was present in one baby, and two were not reported.
  • 2013 – Out of 26,120 abortions, life was present in two babies, and six were not reported.

Clearly, babies are being born alive following an abortion, but Michigan is not following up on what abortionists or their staff are doing to these babies or on what is happening in the unreported cases. According to MDHHS, “not reported” means that neither yes nor no was checked on the required form.

Born-Alive Protection Acts

In 2002, the Federal Born Alive Infant Protection Act passed both Houses of Congress with bipartisan support, due in part to testimony from Stanek, formerly a labor and delivery nurse, who once held a born-alive infant in her arms after the baby survived an abortion performed at an Illinois hospital.

Stanek’s grueling testimony reads in part:

One night, a nursing co-worker was taking a Down’s syndrome baby who was aborted alive to our Soiled Utility Room because his parents did not want to hold him, and she did not have time to hold him. I could not bear the thought of this suffering child dying alone in a Soiled Utility Room, so I cradled and rocked him for the 45 minutes that he lived. He was between 21 and 22 weeks old, weighed about 1/2 pound, and was about 10 inches long. He was too weak to move very much, expending any energy he had trying to breathe. Toward the end he was so quiet that I could not tell if he was still alive. I held him up to the light to see through his chest wall whether his heart was still beating. After he was pronounced dead, we folded his little arms across his chest, wrapped him in a tiny shroud, and carried him to the hospital morgue where all of our dead patients are taken.

Today, thanks to born-alive protections in some states and federally, there has been at least one documented occasion where an abortion provider requested emergency assistance after a baby survived:

This case is believed to be an outlier, as life-saving efforts dedicated to a baby who is born alive after an attempted abortion are rare.

In fact, comments made by a former Planned Parenthood medical director shed light on the real situation that often occurs in abortion clinics and even in some hospitals. Dr. DeShawn Taylor, who was caught in undercover footage by the Center for Medical Progress, told the CMP investigator that identifying “signs of life” after a baby survives an abortion is contingent upon “who’s in the room.”

Kermit Gosnell activity happening at highest levels of Planned Parenthood says Daleiden

On Wednesday’s Dana Loesch show Center for Medical Progress lead investigator, David Daleiden called what was revealed in his latest video exposing Planned Parenthood’s baby parts operation “Kermit Gosnell activity.”

Dana Loesch David Daleidon Planned Parenthood

The latest video, number 7, is horrific and shows eyewitness Holly O’Donnell, a former StemExpress procurement technician describing the day she was called upon to remove brain tissue from a baby born alive, with his heart still beating after a Planned Parenthood abortion.

Gosnell275x

It is Kermit Gosnell activity happening at the highest levels of Planned Parenthood,” Daleiden told Loesch.

Gosnell ran the Philadelphia House of Horrors abortion facility and is serving time in prison for severing the spines of babies born alive.

One of the interesting facts that came out about the Gosnell case was that many within the abortion industry knew what he was doing and remained silent.

In fact, according to media reports, leaders from local Planned Parenthood affiliates knew exactly what was going on:

Daylesteinberg

CEO of Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania Dayle Steinberg began her association with Planned Parenthood in 1978 as a graduate intern, joined the full-time staff in 1981, served as director of surgical services from 1986-1992, then served for eight years as senior vice president, and was appointed president and CEO in 2001.

In February of 2010 WHYY reported that Steinberg denied knowing of any of the horrific conditions at Gosnells’ abortion clinic. They wrote: Steinberg: We do anticipate that women who might have scheduled appointments for abortion procedures at the Women’s Medical Society will be calling Planned Parenthood. and then reported, “Steinberg says she knows that Gosnell has provided abortions in Philadelphia for many years, but says she hadn’t heard of any problems at clinic until the allegations surfaced in recent days.”

PP Lied GosnellBut later, according to Philly.com : Steinberg said this about Gosnell at a public fundraiser: “Steinberg said that when Gosnell was in practice, women would sometimes come to Planned Parenthood for services after first visiting Gosnell’s West Philadelphia clinic, and would complain to staff about the conditions there.

“’We would always encourage them to report it to the Department of Health,’ Steinberg said as she sat with Steinem before Tuesday’s events.”

Despite her obvious contradictions, the media is publishing statements by Steinberg regarding Planned Parenthood’s gruesome operation. Case in point is an August 2015 op-ed where Steinberg accuses the Center for Medical Progress of editing the videos. She also details the many vaccines made from the body parts of aborted children.

Her words were published by Philly.com which read in part:

Although none of the Planned Parenthood health centers in Pennsylvania is participating in fetal-tissue donation programs, we recognize their deep value. The polio vaccine was developed from fetal kidney cells, as were vaccines against chicken pox, rubella, hepatitis A, and shingles. So, too, were treatments for diseases that include Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. And thousands of women who chose abortion have found great comfort and a sense of social good from donating fetal tissue to advance medical treatments that save lives. According to an article published by the New England Journal of Medicine, “Virtually every person in this country has benefited from research using fetal tissue. . . By using the public’s unfamiliarity with the history and realities of fetal-tissue research as a back door for attacking Planned Parenthood, abortion opponents have added millions of people to the collateral damage of the abortion wars.”

Planned Parenthood Mar Monte San Jose

Daleiden described Planned Parenthood Mar Monte’s Alameda clinic in San Jose, CA., where O’Donnell was when she removed the brains from an intact born alive infant, as the largest Planned Parenthood facility with a $100 MILLION dollar a year budget. (Keep in mind they also receive tax dollars) and their latest (2012) 990 report indicates this is true:

Planned Parenthood Mar Monte 100 million 990

That same report lists Dorothy L Furgerson as the Chief Medical Director.

Does this name ring a bell? It should, Dorothy L Furgerson endorsed StemExpress and was listed on their brochure claiming a financial profit for those who utilize their services.

Stem Express financial benefit Planned Parenthood 1

In addition to Furgerson, the 990 lists “physicians” Abraham C Cabebe and Karen Webster.

2012 PLanned Parenthood Mar Monte med director abortionists

A 2008, 2009 and 2010 990 for the same Planned Parenthood affiliate lists Ronald Berman and Jesse Joplin.

Ron Berman Planned Parenthood STemExpress

Berman is a StemExpress Medical Director who is also a Planned Parenthood abortion doctor accused by former procurement technician, O’Donnell of getting aborted babies, “viciously fast.” Telling CMP investigators that she imagined Dr. Berman literally, “going into the room, lifting the covers, going in, grabbing and walking out. Like that’s how fast it is, it’s ridiculous.”

Center for Medical Progress Dana Loesch

Daleiden told Loesch that four Congressional committees have opened up investigations into Planned Parenthood. He said lawsuits from StemExpress as well as NAF has not deterred him from releasing some of the most horrific aspects of CMP’s investigation.

Despite the horrifying video evidence, some people still support Planned Parenthood.

For further consideration, the Daily Signal has published a video explaining all of the concerns raised by the videos to date. Watch it here.

Former abortion doc on baby born alive “I killed a near term baby” !

Posted in Babies Born Alive, former abortionist with tags , , , , , , on August 19, 2015 by saynsumthn

From Clinic Quotes website:

Interviewer: She’d deliver a dead baby

Doctor Clark: Deliver a dead baby. But in one case, she did not deliver a dead baby. It was a live baby that she delivered.

Interviewer: Do they not have their skin burned?

Doctor Clark: The skin was burned, it was hard to look at, and hard to realize that I killed a near-term baby. The dates that the mother had given me were wrong, and we had no real way of checking it at that time. Ultrasound and stuff has come in since then, so we can date a baby’s age fairly well, but not, not back then. And the baby was born alive and lived for an hour.

According to Celebrate Life Magazine:

Dr. Grant Clark began committing abortions in 1970, at the county hospital in Eureka. He was on salary, rather than getting paid for each abortion. His story shatters the myths that portray abortion as respectable, morally legitimate medicine that liberates women. And it reveals that abortion ruins a doctor’s profession in myriad ways.

I never maintained the doctor/patient relationship; they avoided me,” Dr. Clark disclosed. “Women didn’t like it [abortion] afterwards; it brought them no joy.” And just as one wouldn’t trust a practitioner of euthanasia as a geriatric doctor, a patient wouldn’t trust a family doctor who was also an abortionist to care for their children, he pointed out.

“It [committing abortions] cheapened my value of human life,” Dr. Clark continued. “It made me look down on pregnancies. … My enthusiasm to save people dropped down. … It’s grotesque. Counting baby parts is nauseating.” He said he never liked committing abortions and was eventually disgusted enough to try talking his patients out of them.

There were also negative consequences for Dr. Clark’s professional relationships. His decision to commit abortions divided him from other doctors and nurses, because many doctors have a low opinion of abortion and those involved in it, he said. “Those who don’t do abortions are emphatic about it,” he commented. “… Abortionists are being isolated from the rest of medicine.”
