Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke has weighed in on the Starbuck’s Race controversy.

Sheriff David Clark gained notoriety on my blog when he weighed in on the Black Lives Matter tweet event which you can read about here.

The tweet sent by Sheriff Clarke, a black man himself, was sent to Mitch Smith, Journalist in the Chicago bureau of The New York Times and read, “If only these faux protesters were asked by media about all the black on black killing or black babies aborted in US every year.

Now in response to Starbuck’s Race Together effort, Sheriff Clarke tweeted: “Can’t remember the last time I saw a Black person inside a Starbucks. They do not have stores in Black neighborhoods.”

One response to the Sheriff’s tweet read, “wonder if the media would promote a conversation @ starbucks about the black abortion rate #blacklivesmatter”

Starbucks, in partnership with USA TODAY, is about to tackle the issue of race in America, so reports USA Today.

Starbucks is receiving a ton of response to their new effort to discuss race.

According to a press release from the company:

“The compendium called “Race Together” is the first installment in a year-long effort designed to stimulate conversation, compassion and positive action regarding race in America. The title of the publication mirrors the words Starbucks baristas have been voluntarily writing on cups this week in support of diversity and dialog.

The printed edition features an unconscious bias experiment – exploring the attitudes and beliefs that guide us, along with an interactive diversity index that asks “what is the chance that the next person I meet will be different from me?” Readers will see how that likelihood has changed since 1960 and is projected to change by 2060.

In addition to two quizzes, USA TODAY includes questions to consider discussing with family, friends and co-workers such as, “How have your racial views evolved from those of your parents?

Partners and customers may join the discussion on social media using the hashtag #racetogether.

According to CNN Money, there has been a backlash:

Corey duBrowa, the company’s Senior Vice President of Global Communications, was personally attacked amid a storm of angry tweets. The executive deleted his Twitter account Monday night, only to rejoin the service less than 24 hours later.

Last night I felt personally attacked in a cascade of negativity,” duBrowa said in a post on Medium. “I got overwhelmed by the volume and tenor of the discussion, and I reacted.”

Now, the Hastag #RaceTogether is being used to educate the public on the targeting of black lives with abortion.

Messages the hashtag read, “Hey Starbucks, what do you think about Planned Parenthood and black genocide? #RaceTogether”

“.@Starbucks US 12% black; 35% abortions kill black kids. Abortion supporters racist, comfortable w/ black genocide? #RaceTogether #Prolife”

“there may be no @Starbucks in the hood but hey…. we got an abortion clinic, dope peddler & liquor store on every corner #RaceTogether”

“Next time I go to #Starbucks I am going to engage my barista about the disproportionate impact of abortion on ppl of color. #RaceTogether”
