A pro-life group in New Mexico has filed a formal complaint with the State’s Nursing Board accusing a nurse of performing abortions in violation of state law. Protest ABQ, say that they uncovered documentation showing that registered nurse Vivianne Clark (license number RN-71112) performed several abortions, some late term, in violation of state law which requires that only licensed physicians perform abortions. The pro-life group also claims that Clark is employed by Planned Parenthood of New Mexico.

Tara Shaver, spokesperson for ProtestABQ told Saynsumthn that New Mexico law states that only licensed physicians can perform abortions. Shaver said they discovered the alleged illegal abortions through an IPRA request for Medicaid data since New Mexico is one of 17 states that uses state money for abortions and report on the numbers annually. “You can see from the Medicaid data that she is doing 1st and 2nd trimester abortions up to 24 weeks,” Shaver said.

Shaver sent Saynsumthn a copy of the report. It was dated 2013 and entitled: New Mexico Pregnancy Terminations Paid in Calendar Year 2013, noting that some of the services were performed in 2012, but were paid through Medicaid Managed Care Organizations. An analysis of the report shows that Medicaid paid a total of $160,007.51 for 811 abortions. The report listed several abortion doctors including Curtis Boyd, a late term abortionist who operates in Albuquerque. In the report, Boyd was paid for several abortions he performed between 17 to 24 weeks.

Vivianne M. Clark is also listed as receiving payments for abortions. In 2013, Clark received a total of $10,396.12 for 81 abortions, a majority which were performed between 17 and 24 weeks.

    $6203.22 for 34 Induced Abortions – 17-24 Weeks
    $2470.03 for 12 Induced abortion – 17 to 24 weeks
    $364.29 for 1 – Induced abortion – 17-24 weeks
$1236.45 for 14 Mifepristone oral 200 mg abortions
$122.13 for 20- Misoprostol oral 200 mcg abortions

According to ProtestABQ, the Medicaid data they obtained through a public records request indicates that New Mexico taxpayers have footed the bill for over 200 illegal abortions performed by Vivianne Clark. And, reports provided to ProtestABQ show that Vivianne Clark was paid for abortions as far back as 2012.

Although the location where the abortions were performed is not noted on the reports, Shaver said that Clark is a nurse who works at Planned Parenthood of New Mexico ( Operated by: Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, Inc.) pointing to this online business listing showing Clark as a Planned Parenthood nurse practitioner.

PLanned Parenthood Vivianne Clark

Listings at this website show 2 Planned Parenthood locations where Clark allegedly works. A search on the New Mexico Medical Board website which provides and maintains physician data as part of its official website, shows that there is no licensed physician by the name of Vivianne Clark:

Vivianne Clark NM Medical Board license verification

“It just so happens that the only law in New Mexico apparently not being enforced says that only physicians can perform abortions. She is violating a criminal statute and the penalty is a 4th felony,” Shaver said.

The New Mexico Board of Nursing has confirmed receiving the complaint and say it has been referred it to the board’s investigators, according to the Albuquerque Journal.

A copy of the formal complaint filed with the New Mexico Board of Nursing reads in part:

I have attached proof that Ms. Clark has been reimbursed by New Mexico Medicaid from 2013 to 2013 for abortions she performed in the first and second trimesters, up to 24 weeks of pregnancy.Ms. Clark's actions are in violation of the New Mexico Criminal Abortion Statute (§ 30-5-1, et seq.)

I respectfully request that the Board of Nursing investigate this matter in the interest of public safety and that you take appropriate action against Ms. Clark, including revocation of her license if warranted, for her violation of New Mexico law.

Planned Parenthood has denied the charges.

“It is a disturbing fact that New Mexicans are funding an illegal abortionist through NM medicaid. The over 200 abortions that we have been able to document, based on the NM medicaid data, are only the tip of the iceberg as far as the total number of abortions Vivanne Clarke has performed over the years in clear violation of New Mexico law,” states Bud Shaver, executive director of Protest ABQ in a statement regarding their complaint.

“We are calling upon the New Mexico Nursing Board to do a thorough investigation to get to the bottom of this. Based on what we can already prove, Vivianne Clarke’s nursing license should be revoked immediately,” he added.

UNM Doubles Down on Preventing The Truth From Coming Out About Their Abortion Involvement

Posted in Aborted Baby Body Parts, Center for Medical Progress, Protest ABQ with tags , , , , , , , , on April 3, 2016 by saynsumthn

Life Ministries has released the following:

The Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives has issued 12 additional subpoenas to fetal tissue procurement organizations who continue to refuse full compliance with the panels investigation into the practice of fetal tissue harvesting and the use of the remains in research. According to the NY Times, “Committee investigators say they have uncovered evidence of possible illegal profiteering, questionable consent forms and inappropriate collusion between scientists seeking fetal tissue and abortion providers.”

Three new subpoenas come to New Mexico focused on individuals at the University of New Mexico (UNM) and Southwestern Women’s Options. The subpoenas ask for information such as: studies, research or experiments that individuals have participated in, the number and type of fetal tissue obtained from Southwestern Women’s Options, personnel that procured tissue from SWO and documents proving benefits or compensation for providing fetal tissue.

UNM as a publicly funded institution bears the responsibility of transparency, yet, at every turn they avoid accountability and fight to keep the truth from being exposed about how deeply entrenched their radical abortion agenda is. Whether through our and other pro-life attempts to obtain public records or congressional attempts, UNM just doubles down and is petrified about the consequences of allowing even basic facts about their abortion involvement from seeing the light of day.

Paul ROth EPsey POst Card

Bud Shaver, executive director of Protest ABQ issued the following statement,

“Just this week, we mailed postcards into Albuquerque neighborhoods because we believe the community deserves to know who is responsible for UNM’s radical abortion agenda they are funding with their tax dollars. Of all of the postcards that we have dropped over the past five years, we had to battle to get this one out. UNM tried to prevent the post office from mailing out our postcards. UNM wields a mighty hand over local businesses and our printer was weary about completing the order for us after being notified by the post office that UNM was attempting to block our postcard from going out but Tara did what she does best and had the post office directly email our printer once all the legal issues were resolved and clarified. Here is what the post office said to our printer, ‘Our legal department says we cannot refuse the mailing if it is brought to us as long it is properly prepared and paid for.’ Free speech trumps UNM and their strangle hold over the truth from reaching the community. This is clearly a battle over hearts and minds and that is why we fight so hard…and never back down.”

Rep. Marsha Blackburn says it best in her statement after issuing this new round of subpoenas,

“The Select Investigative Panel is working in a thoughtful and thorough manner to find the facts about what exactly is going on at these abortion businesses and procurement organizations. Unfortunately, some of these organizations have so redacted documents — even after being subpoenaed — that it is impossible for us to get the complete picture of what is actually going on. Others have refused to produce documents required under previous subpoenas, and have threatened to withhold additional subpoenaed information. There should be no resistance to letting all the facts come out — but some abortion supporters seem to be clearly rattled with basic facts coming to light. Therefore, in the interest of completing our investigation pursuant to H. Res. 461, we will continue to issue subpoenas when necessary to ensure information can be gathered in a timely fashion.”

Some claim that aborted fetal tissue harvesting is necessary to make strides in medical research and defend the use of aborted fetal cells in vaccines. We maintain the position that utilizing and capitalizing on the death and body parts of innocent children for any reason is immoral and unethical and should therefore cease immediately.

Post cards expose who is responsible for UNM’s abortion business, says pro-life group

Posted in Protest ABQ with tags , , , , , , , on March 28, 2016 by saynsumthn

A New Mexico pro-life group has just released post cards (image below) to expose who they believe to be behind the abortion business going on at the University of New Mexico. The post card features Dr. Paul Roth and Dr. Eve Epsey.

Epsey was appointed chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB-GYN) at the University of New Mexico in 2014 is also the president of the Society for Family Planning.

Epsey has also been “honored” by the Physicians for Reproductive Health for which she is a former board member along with abortionist Curtis Boyd who ran a training program at the UNM. Epsey was also a 2014 recipient of Planned Parenthood’s Margaret Sanger Award, named after was the advocate of eugenics who founded the abortion business.

Paul ROth EPsey POst Card
This postcard will be delivered by mail to multiple Albuquerque neighborhoods this weekend. The University of New Mexico is a publicly funded institution and the community deserves to know who is responsible for UNM’s radical abortion agenda.

Bud and Tara Shaver who founded Protest ABQ, said that in 2010 the University of New Mexico placed Dr. Paul Roth in charge of their governing board. Dr. Roth is listed as the chancellor of the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center and dean of the School of Medicine, on the school’s website.

According to a report filed by Tara Shaver, in 2007, UNM launched its free-standing abortion clinic, the UNM Center for Reproductive Health (UNMCRH), which conducts abortions up to 22 weeks gestation, or over half way through pregnancy.

In addition to this off-campus freestanding abortion clinic, there is also a clinic on campus performing abortions up to 11.5 weeks gestation. Known as the Family Practice Center, it offers specialized services in ObGyn through the Department of Family Practice at UNM.

Essentially UNM is running two abortions clinics…

UNM is currently one of 68 universities that participate in the Kenneth J. Ryan Residency Program in Abortion and Family Planning. The Ryan Program, founded in 1999, is a national initiative whose mission is to embed abortion training into residency programs throughout the United States and Canada.

In 2014, members of Project Defending Life met with UNM Regents, including the Board of Regents President Jack Fortner, and the Health Sciences Center Dean, Paul Roth, to express concerns about the blatant disregard for human life at UNM. Unfortunately, those meetings were to no avail.

Now, according to Shaver, “The University of New Mexico (UNM) Board of Regents is attempting to dissolve the Health Sciences Center (HSC) board and demote Dr. Paul Roth (godfather of abortion at UNM).

Could it be that the UNM Regents realize that the Health Sciences Center (HSC) under Dr. Paul Roth’s control has taken the UNM Health system in the wrong direction with Roth’s radically pro-abortion agenda?

According to the New Mexico Political Report:

[UNM Regents Rob Doughty] Doughty and [Marron] Lee’s authored changes removed Roth’s full oversight authority over HSC property, finances, staff and legal matters and subjected them to approval of UNM President Frank.

Shortly before the Regents made a vote, Roth told the public that UNM President Frank would immediately reinstate Roth’s role as CEO. After the vote, Roth said in a statement that he was “grateful” to Frank “for clarifying that I will continue as CEO of the UNM Health System, with all of the responsibilities and authorities commensurate with that.”

Doughty also told reporters after the vote that Roth stays in charge of the “day-to-day operations” of HSC. Still, an HSC spokesman told NM Political Report last week that HSC press relations were in the process of learning “what that entails.”

Protest ABQ has released a statement that although the move is in the right direction, having Roth who allowed these abortion facilities at the University to continues in any roll is just not acceptable and reads:

    Back of Postcard

    Back of Postcard

Some have criticized the UNM regents for acting so quickly to re-adjust leadership at UNM (even GOP leadership) by giving the President of the University, Robert Frank, appropriate authority while bringing Paul Roth more under control. It has been said that for the past five years the University has had two heads, these changes have “removed Roth’s full oversight authority over HSC property, finances, staff and legal matters and subjected them to approval of UNM President Frank.”

For 5 years we have been exposing and applying pressure to those with the ability to end the abortion agenda at UNM. Whether the motivation for change at UNM was rooted in money, a new hospital or damage control due to Paul Roth’s leadership…It is hard for us to ignore the fact that UNM is currently under a congressional investigation regarding the use of fetal tissue and it’s abortion agenda has become widely known during Dr. Paul Roth’s tenure.

It seems as though UNM leadership is moving in the right direction in order to make substantial change, however, Dr. Paul Roth is still the motivating force behind their radical abortion agenda. As Dean of the School of Medicine Roth was the highest authority in giving abortionist Eve Espey the promotion to Chair of the Obgyn department, even though her agenda is to promote abortion here and abroad. Espey also received the Margaret Sanger award in 2014.

In order for UNM to completely abandon their pro-abortion agenda, a few things must be done. Roth and Espey must be terminated and now President Frank has the authority to bring the matter to the Regents for their approval. We are asking the public to contact President Frank and ask him to urge the regents to terminate the contracts of both Espey and Roth.

Please join us in contacting UNM President Robert Frank

*ACGME accreditation does not require that universities have their own free standing abortion facility

“Not only does UNM embrace abortion and run a free standing abortion facility in Albuquerque performing abortions up to 22 weeks of pregnancy, they have also recently been caught red handed using aborted baby body parts in medical research. Are you comfortable with your tax dollars being used to kill and experiment on pre-born babies?”

Please contact UNM President Robert Frank and ask him to urge the Board of Regents to terminate the contracts of Dr. Paul Roth and Dr. Eve Espey.

Pro-life group releases years of investigative research on NM abortion clinics

Inside New Mexico Reproductive Health abortion clinic

In an effort to give the citizens of New Mexico a real look into the state’s abortion industry a pro-life group has put together years of shocking research and presented it to state lawmakers. Life Ministries NM, founded by Fr. Stephen Imbarrato, compiled the information into a 45 minute video which debuted at the State Capital in Santa Fe to New Mexico legislators with the hope that principled politicians will sponsor and pass uncompromising pro-life legislation. New Mexico is one of a few places in the world which allows unrestricted abortions after 24 weeks.

According to Tara Shaver, Senior Policy Advisor for Life Ministries the group of approximately 100 pro-lifers filled the rotunda at the State Capitol January 26th just days after the anniversary of the infamous Supreme Court decision which legalized abortion on demand. Life Ministries NM said the video included footage from Live Action’s investigations as well as reports from Operation Rescue and undercover phone calls compiled by local activists.

Shaver said that she had previously attempted to show lawmakers footage of numerous emergency 911 calls to NM abortion facilities but her efforts were quickly shut down by the 2015 committee chairman. Pro-life State Senator Craig Brandt who’s bill requiring abortionists to have hospital admitting privileges was tabled that same year joined Shaver and Fr. Imbarrato in their presentation.

Life Ministries NM said that after inviting several lawmakers to view the full 45 minute footage many were seen at the video’s unveiling. The pro-life said they have plans to make the full investigative footage public. The first of the 3 part series, focuses on Albuquerque’s late term abortion facility, Southwestern Women’s Options (SWO). According to Life Ministries NM, SWO is called a “Reproductive Health Center” but they claim that the clinic doesn’t offer services other than abortions. “They don’t do well women exams, STD testing or even have the ability to detect a potentially life threatening ectopic pregnancy,” Shaver said.

“SWO is also caught showing how professional their health services are to women in footage obtained by Live Action when they send late term abortion patients to local hotels,” she added and then asked, “Does healthcare really consist of instructing women to unlock their hotel door until the abortionist arrives and in the meantime push your dead baby into the toilet?”

Watch part one below:

According to Life Ministries NM, “New Mexico is currently one of 17 states that has medicaid funded abortions using state tax dollars. Part 2 delves into tax funding of abortions in New Mexico and the shocking revelation of how much Late-Term abortions cost the taxpayers…$8,000-$16,000 the price for a baby’s life!”

New Mexico needs late-term Abortion bill with NO exceptions

New Mexico needs a Late-Term Abortion Bill with NO exceptions for rape, incest, or health.

Video: Why New Mexico Needs A Late-Term Abortion Bill With NO Exceptions

By Bud Shaver, Executive Director of Protest ABQ

Fr. Stephen Imbarrato explains why New Mexico needs a Late-Term Abortion Bill with NO exceptions for rape, incest, or health.

Fr. Stephen Imbarrato with Priests for Life and founder of several pro-life ministries in New Mexico including: Life Ministries NM, Protest ABQ, and Project Defending Life released the following statement:

“I am very excited about the plan laid out by the [Senate-NM] to get a late term abortion ban passed in New Mexico. It is my hope that it is a bill that has no exceptions. I made it clear last year and again this year to the sponsors of the bill that I cannot support a bill with exceptions. Rape, incest, and health of the mother exceptions are not tolerable in pro life legislation. It is important that our Catholic leadership insist that our Catholic legislators support a late term ban with no exceptions. I recently submitted a ban bill to appropriate parties without exceptions that is law in 20 states. Let us unite around a late term ban with no exceptions.”

Father Stephen is a priest with the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, ordained 10 years as a late life vocation. Fr Stephen has been given permission to do full-time national pro-life ministry and is currently a member of the Pastoral Staff of Priests for Life. Fr Stephen is the founder of several pro-life ministries including St Gerard’s CPC in Connecticut and Project Defending Life also Protest ABQ in New Mexico.

Bank of Abortion? Why a Texas pro-life group is protesting Bank of America

Posted in Bank of America, banks, Planned Parenthood Supporter, Pro-life Waco, Protest ABQ with tags , , , , , , , on November 15, 2015 by saynsumthn

A Texas pro-life group is leading a campaign to convince a national financial institution to completely terminate its financial support for Planned Parenthood. According to Pro-life Waco, Bank of America supports Planned Parenthood through a 100% match for all employees donations. In addition to hundreds of thousands of abortions, Planned Parenthood was caught selling baby body parts in under cover videos released by the Center for Medical Progress this past summer.

Bank of America Planned Parenthood prolife waco oct 2015

According to John Pisciotta, director of Pro-life Waco, “The now-disgraced Planned Parenthood has descended below the KKK and tobacco corporations in merit for public respect,” he told Live Action News.

Dubbed the “Bank of Abortion”, Pisciotta said members of Pro-life Waco began their outreach campaign by protesting the Waco branch of Bank of America. Carrying large signs, the group explains to BOA customers what Planned Parenthood does and they ask customers to close their accounts. Now, Pisciotta is asking pro-lifers across the nation to take the truth of what Planned Parenthood does to their local Bank of America branch every week.

“A large number of protesters are NOT necessary for a big impact,” notes Pisciotta. “Even one person at a downtown branch can have a big impact.” he stated.

Pro-Life Waco has a record of successfully targeting those who collaborate with Planned Parenthood. Past efforts include the use of public pressure to expose the connection between Planned Parenthood and the Girl Scouts as well as Susan G. Komen.

John Pisciotta Bank of America Planned Parenthood

According to Pisciotta, national efforts to protest Bank of America are currently going in Dallas (TX), Austin (TX) and Charlotte (NC) where Bank of America’s national headquarters is located.

Pisciotta tells Live Action News that he recently had a person came out of the bank with thumbs up saying, “I’ve just closed my account.”

We have some Austin “regulars” who stop by each week to cheer us on and bless us,” he said.

But Pisciotta said he also gets some criticism. He recently received a letter from a local resident claiming to be a Christian who is “appalled” they are at the bank. The woman, identified as Paula, said the group is grandstanding and called the pro-lifers “sidewalk bullies.” Pisciotta denies the claim, but points out that Paula is obviously an abortion supporter. She told Pisciotta that thousands are donating to Planned Parenthood because of his protests – a claim she could not possibly prove. Paula then referred to Pisciotta’s group as “the worst of the forced birthers,” ending the letter by demanding they “take [their] lying for the Lord back to the epicenter of Baptist crazy in Texas, and LEAVE IT THERE!” (emphasis was Paula’s).

Now, an Albuquerque, New Mexico group has just announced that they have joined the protest.

The pro-life group, Protest ABQ is also joining Pro-life Waco in protesting Bank of America and has released the following statement:

“ProtestABQ is committed to unifying our protest efforts locally and nationally in opposition of the abortion cartel in America. We protest individuals and corporations that perpetuate, condone, and/or support the abortion industry which is killing the most defenseless individuals…children in the womb.”

“It is a great encouragement to know that while we are delivering #ProtestBOA in Austin, our friends from ProtestABQ are delivering #ProtestBOA in Albuquerque.

“BOA is going to feel some pain for financially supporting a so-called healthcare organization named Planned Parenthood. We hope this will lead to a national challenge to Bank of America for its entanglement with Planned Parenthood,” Pisciotta stated.

Pro-life group to Mayor: Work on removing late term abortion reputation instead of silencing pro-life people

Posted in Protest ABQ with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 29, 2015 by saynsumthn

The Mayor of a New Mexico city has called out a pro-life group for showing the truth of abortion and they replied by accusing the mayor of doing nothing to end late term abortions in their city.

ProtestABQ recently drove their pro-life “truth truck” into the Albuquerque neighborhood of Democratic City Council Candidate Pat Davis to expose how he supports killing children in the womb and what that looks like.

Truth Tructh Protest ABQ

Mayor Richard Berry, who calls himself pro-life, is getting heat from residents who say they do not want the images in their neighborhood.

So, instead of calling out the pro-abortion politician, the mayor posted a YouTube video to call for ProtestABQ to stop driving their truth trucks into Davis’ neighborhood.

Mayor Richard Berry

“What I’m doing today is asking them to stop that activity,” he said.

“There’s nothing we can find that would legally stop them from doing this,” Berry said. “But I’m standing up as a mayor and asking them to advocate for a position, but in a way that’s respectful for our kids in our community, Mayor Berry told KRQE.

Tara Shaver, spokesperson for ProtestABQ responded to the Mayor’s video:

“The reason why Protest ABQ has resorted to what some people consider extreme tactics is a direct result of Mayor Berry’s lack of action regarding the out of control abortion industry and his very own city. Mayor Berry as well as our self proclamined pro-life Governor Susana Martinez have not lifted one finger to save even one preborn child’s life but instead allow children to be subjected to the brutal action the images we use capture. Instead of trying to silence and trample on our First Amendment constitutional rights, Mayor Berry should work on removing Albuquerque’s shameful reputation of being the late term abortion capital of the nation. Instead of siding with pro-choice interests he should work to fulfill the responsibilities that his constituents elected him to fulfill.”

Shaver is referring to the late term abortion facility operated by abortionist Curtis Boyd. Protest ABQ recently accused Boyd’s Southwestern Women’s Options of possibly being involved in gruesome baby parts harvesting operations.

sws-options1-497x280-1-320x198

While the media has been all over this story they refuse to show the public the truth of what abortion looks like. And now, thanks to this Mayor they are focusing more on the images than on the kids that are being slaughtered by abortion.

Meanwhile, the pro-abortion council hopeful called the tactic intimidation adding, “I don’t believe for a minute that city hall has any business getting between a woman and her doctor on medical issues, so we’ll just have to agree to disagree.”

Davis complained about the protest on his Facebook page, writing:

For the second day in a row, my neighbors (and their kids) have endured these protests because I don’t believe city council has any business getting between a woman and her doctor.

“Everyone has a right to participate in the political process, but this is unnecessary. Help me send a message by voting early (open now!) and volunteering to turn out our neighbors to vote.”

While a few people liked the post and approved of Davis’ pro-abortion position, one reasonable resident asked him a pointed question, writing,”Reality is gruesome to look at sometimes. Why are the images of what is going on more offensive than the actual activities?”

The trucks are not the only way ProtestABQ is getting out the message that Pat Davis is pro-abortion.

Earlier this month, they sent Albuquerque residents graphic mailers also exposing Davis’ abortion positions.

The message read:

Pat Davis: Too extreme for City Council District 6, and you can expect more of this if he’s elected.
    Davis champions this…

Pat Davis ABQ abortion mailer

According to Bud Shaver, the mailer was meant to be graphic because, as the mailer states:

While Davis claims to be “progressive” he really champions archaic practices such a late-term abortion. Davis will not bring progress to ABQ but instead, he will ensure that barbaric late-term abortions will continue in our city.

A vote for Pat Davis is a vote against the women and children of Albuquerque.

The residents of Albuquerque deserve to know where aspiring politicians stand on pre-born child killing,” Shaver added.

The election will be held October 6th.

Protest ABQ has worked tirelessly in New Mexico to close the infamous Southwestern Women’s Options late term abortion facility operated by abortionist Curtis Boyd. They have also worked to pass strict abortion laws educating the public with truth trucks that show what abortion does to unborn babies.
