Gov exposes deficient care at Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Missouri

Planned Parenthood in St Louis, Missouri may lose it’s license to commit abortions following numerous reports of emergency responses summoned to the abortion clinic and claims of health deficiencies by state authorities. If the license is rejected, Missouri could become the first state without a single abortion facility, a concern PP’s president called, “Not a Drill.” But, president Leana Wen is known for her over-the-top and often deceptive language surrounding abortion, prompting the Washington Post to grant her four Pinocchios for using fabricated stats on illegal abortion deaths.  For those interested in the truth on this topic, Live Action News has broken down this data in more detail previously, including also debunking Planned Parenthood’s false claims multiple times.

Planned Parenthood St Louis abortion facility

Instead of the media joining with Missouri Gov. Mike Parson in calling for PP’s dangerous St Louis abortion facility to remain closed until serious problems are corrected, they are instead lauding Planned Parenthood as almost invincible and incapable of placing women at risk. Of course, the media are the same ones that routinely censor reports of women being killed by abortion, and specifically those who die after abortion care at Planned Parenthood facilities.

A report published by Live Action News sheds light into the reason the media should be exposing PP, not protecting them:

“The real public health crisis is what’s been going on unchecked at this abortion facility for years, and which Wen conveniently doesn’t mention. This particular Planned Parenthood facility has had more than 72 ambulance calls since 2009. Not only are they killing preborn babies at this Planned Parenthood, but they’re also maiming women. In addition, multiple health violations have been racked up over the years at this one facility.”

Governor Mike Parson also gave detailed reasons for why Planned Parenthood’s license was not being renewed (watch here).

According to Missouri Gov. Mike Parson:

March 27, 2019: Statement of deficiencies issued by Missouri Health Department for violating the law and providing safe care for women….Health officials identified a series of deficiencies…which needed to be addressed prior to their license renewal deadline of May 30th.

April 3, 2019: State health department started investigation into PP St Louis relating to series of incidents raised concerns about:

  • Quality of care
  • Patient Safety
  • Statutory and Regulatory compliance

April 11, 2019: State Health Department requested (in writing) to conduct interviews with seven physicians performing abortions at Planned Parenthood St. Louis

April 16, 2019: A PP attorney responded saying PP was not obligated to make physicians available for interviews with state health department officials.

April 22, 2019: A PP attorney informed state health department regulators that physicians would now be represented by their own counsel and Department should attempt to schedule interviews with their individual attorneys.

May 16, 2019: PP submitted license renewal applications, final day to be accepted by DHSS a deadline PP was aware of. State Heath Department notified 5 or the 7 physicians declined to cooperate with the interviews.

May 28, 2019:  Two PP Physicians agreed to cooperate with interviews.

“Planned Parenthood has been actively and knowingly violating state law on numerous occasions…In addition, there is concern for the standard of care due to the fact that the significant medical evidence showing at least three failed surgical abortions…records provided by PP indicate that these failed abortions also include the patients returning to PP after realizing they were still pregnant. In another case, a patient’s safety was jeopardized and rushed to an ambulance from PP where an emergency surgery was needed…” Missouri Gov. Mike Parson stated.

The Governor said that the following concerns needed to be addressed prior to any license renewal:

  • Planned Parenthood’s apparent disregard for the law
  • Failure to complete complication records
  • Accuracy of medical records.

“No judge should give special treatment to PP in this instance…If you break the law- there are serious consequences. If you don’t provide a standard of care that ensures the safety of women you shouldn’t be allowed to operate, its that simple…” Gov. Parson said.

2013:

According to the pro-life watchdog organization, Operation Rescue:

[T]he number of medical emergencies requiring ambulance transport have increased dramatically.

Most recently, three women were transported by ambulance to hospital emergency rooms in a 22-day timespan ending on May 15, 2019.  Other recent medical emergencies occurred at RHS Planned Parenthood on April 24 and April 26, 2019.  In all, 74 medical emergencies have been documented at this Planned Parenthood in the past ten years.

The most common abortion complication suffered by women transported by ambulance from RHS Planned Parenthood is hemorrhaging, a life-threating, yet avoidable, condition.

The RHS Planned Parenthood has experienced other major issued in the past year or so:

  • Inability to conduct chemical abortions due to failure to meet new safety regulations.
  • CEO Mary Kogut resigned last October and has not been replaced.  Postings several other positions also remain unfilled.
  • Failure to expand abortions into Springfield and Joplin as planned, due to inability to meet licensing requirements.
  • Up to a 20-day wait to obtain surgical abortions, as confirmed by Operation Rescue, perhaps because the current medical director is moonlighting at an abortion clinic in Illinois.
  • Failed inspection report in 2017 with multiple safety violations, and where the Medical Director questioned whether hand-washing between glove changes was a new standard.

Below is the press release from the state regarding Planned Parenthood’s abortion facility in St. Louis.

Planned Parenthood files unprecedented lawsuit against Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services with licensure renewal process still ongoing

Planned Parenthood refuses to fully cooperate with investigation into concerns about patient safety

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Planned Parenthood has filed suit against the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) while its application for renewal is still under review.

DHSS received Reproductive Health Services of Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region’s application for renewal on Thursday, May 16, 2019, which was the last day that it would be accepted by DHSS. The St. Louis, Missouri, facility’s license, which is renewed annually, is set to expire on May 31, 2019. Last year, the organization submitted its renewal application on April 27, 2018, with a May 31 renewal date.

Planned Parenthood’s statutorily required inspection occurred March 11-13, 2019, and an investigation has been ongoing since. Planned Parenthood was notified in early April that due to ongoing concerns about potential deficient practices, interviews would need to be done with the physicians providing that care. These concerns are not limited to, but include: 1) violations of Missouri law; 2) violations of applicable Missouri regulations; 3) standard care for patient safety as evidenced by, but not limited to, at least one incident in which patient safety was gravely compromised; 4) failed surgical abortions in which patients remained pregnant; 5) concerns about quality control and communication with a contracted pathology lab; and 6) failure to obtain informed consent.

The continued refusal of several physicians to cooperate in interviews regarding DHSS’s ongoing complaint investigation obstructs the State’s ability to verify that this facility is in compliance with all requirements of applicable statutes and regulations, which Missouri law requires DHSS to do before renewing a license.

Only on May 22 did Planned Parenthood change their previous position and agree to comply with Missouri regulations which require pelvic exams at the screening prior to abortions so that information learned from the pelvic exams could increase the safety of the procedure.

On May 28, only after filing their lawsuit did Planned Parenthood again change another previous position to comply with Missouri law that the same physician who does the preoperative counseling will also perform the abortion.

As of May 29, Planned Parenthood has still not agreed to full compliance.

“DHSS will continue to act in good faith to do our statutorily required duty to regulate facilities to help keep people safe and assure compliance with the law,” said Dr. Randall Williams, director of DHSS. “The unprecedented refusal by Planned Parenthood to fully cooperate as they have in the past heightens our regulators’ concerns about what their investigation has revealed to date.”

26th medical emergency at Planned Parenthood in 2017, Center had Expired License reports Pro-life group

Planned Parenthood with Expired License Calls Ambulance for Patient Suffering Seizures

By Cheryl Sullenger, Operation Rescue where this article originally appeared.

Cincinnati, OH — An ambulance responded to a medical emergency at the Mt. Auburn Health Center Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Thursday, July 27, 2017.

An emergency radio dispatch recording, obtained by Operation Rescue, indicated that a 20-year old pregnant woman was suffering a seizure. A fire unit, Engine 32, and Medic 3 (ambulance) were dispatched to the Planned Parenthood facility located on Mt. Auburn Avenue.

According to witnesses on the scene, the fire unit was first to arrive at 10:36 a.m., followed three minutes later by the Medic 3 ambulance.

After about 10 minutes, a conscious woman was brought out on a gurney and loaded into the ambulance for transport to a nearby hospital emergency room.

This is the twenty-sixth medical emergency at a Planned Parenthood abortion facility that has been reported to Operation Rescue so far in 2017 – already far ahead of the Planned Parenthood emergencies recorded in 2016 when there were 28 emergencies reported over the entire year.

“At this time last year, we had recorded only 14 medical emergencies at Planned Parenthood abortion facilities. 2017 looks like it will be a record-setting year, but that certainly not the kind of record we want anyone to set,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “However, we know we don’t hear about every incident, so we know the number of women suffering life-threatening abortion complications is actually much higher.”

The facility came under fire for not having a valid hospital transfer agreement, a requirement for licensing as an Ambulatory Surgical Facility in Ohio. Last year, the Ohio Department of Health issued Planned Parenthood a new ASF license after it dropped earlier efforts to revoke it.

That license expired on May 31, 2017. Nevertheless, Planned Parenthood continues operating — and placing the lives of women in danger — with the expired license.

This screenshot of Planned Parenthood’s facility license page shows they have been operating on an expired ASF license.

“Given that this facility was operating under an expired facility license at the time of the emergency, this Planned Parenthood should be closed pending a thorough review by the Department of Health,” said Newman.

A 911 recording obtained by Operation Rescue gave details of a very similar medical emergency at the Cincinnati Planned Parenthood in 2015. ( watch below)

Other medical emergencies at that facility were discovered in Ohio Health Department documents leaked to Operation Rescue.

In November 2016, Operation Rescue reported on a number of visits made by the city sewer department to the Planned Parenthood abortion business, which was experiencing backed up drains – a problem that has since persisted.

23 health violations at Georgia Planned Parenthood while Ohio investigates fetal disposal

A local media outlet in Georgia combed through five years of state health inspections from local abortion clinics and found several disturbing violations. WSBTV, channel 2, said they spent a month looking at the health documents after the release of undercover videos showing Planned Parenthood’s baby parts operation.

State inspections Georgia Abortion

In their investigative report, after they learned that these abortion facilities were not improperly disposing of aborted babies, Channel 2 said they wanted to see exactly what the state had found after performing a complete inspection of abortion facilities. They also wanted to know how often the inspections are done. So, they said the TV station filed an open records report with the state asking for state inspection reports of licensed abortion clinics dating back five years.

Georgia Abortion facility inspections list

What WSBTV discovered would horrify the public. According to their report, the following violations were documented during state health inspections of these so-called “safe and legal” abortion facilities:

    Expired Medications and medical instruments
    Unsterilized equipment
Sterile and nonsterile supplies stored in the same room
The vent in a biohazard room taped off with cardboard
    Stirrups wrapped in duck tape
Iodine swabs used to prevent wound infections expired by 10 years
Soiled linens in surgical rooms to name a few.

In addition, the TV station discovered that one of the abortion clinics cited by the state was a Planned Parenthood facility located in Augusta. According to their findings, that Planned Parenthood abortion clinic had 23 health or safety violations in one year alone and was fined by the state. However, they also discovered that health inspectors did not return to the Planned Parenthood abortion center to see if the violations had been corrected until two years later.

Virginia Gallaway with the Faith and Freedom Coalition told channel 2 that she was shocked because restaurants were inspected more frequently than abortion clinics.

Interestingly, Staci Fox, Planned Parenthood’s Southeast CEO which heads the Planned Parenthood mentioned in the report, claimed the inspections might be deceiving because of an unsubstantiated bias against them. But, this kind of excuse is simply a PR move for Planned Parenthood.

Meanwhile, Ohio’s attorney general has announced that three of the state’s Planned Parenthood clinics (Bedford Heights, Cincinnati, and Columbus) have been illegally disposing of the bodies of aborted babies by throwing them in landfills. “Disposing of aborted fetuses from an abortion by sending them to a landfill is callous and completely inhumane,” Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said in a news release. “It is important the public be aware that these practices are taking place at these Ohio facilities.”

But, Stephanie Kight, president and chief executive officer of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Ohio
has denied the allegation telling Reuters that, “Planned Parenthood contracts with vendors to handle fetal tissue in a respectful manner and in accordance with the law”.

DeWine began the investigation to determine whether fetal tissue was selling fetal tissue, or abortion trafficking, in violation of Ohio law. Investigators requested documents and financial records from Planned Parenthood organizations as well as companies they contracted with. Although the investigation did not find that fetal tissue was sold by Planned Parenthood affiliates in Ohio, the investigation did show that the disposal methods documented by the Planned Parenthood affiliates violate Ohio Administrative law, which requires that a “fetus shall be disposed of in a humane manner.”

A press statement released Friday by the Ohio AG named the specifics:

All three Ohio Planned Parenthood affiliates have sent fetal remains to companies which disposed of the fetuses in landfills.
Additionally, the Planned Parenthood facility in Bedford Heights stated it uses only one company for disposal. However, that company stated to investigators it does not accept fetal remains for disposal as a corporate policy.

Planned Parenthoos dispose fetuses landfill

13ABC Action gave additional details:

“Planned Parenthood said some fetal tissue is donated for medical research, but such donations are illegal in Ohio. A Planned Parenthood state leader has said no donation program exists here.

“During DeWine’s investigation of the tissue sale issue, he said his office found that Marietta, Ohio-based Accu Medical Waste Service, Inc., a waste disposal company used by Planned Parenthood affiliates in Cincinnati and Columbus, sent the remains to a Kentucky landfill.

“An Accu Medical official told DeWine’s office that his company uses a standard treatment for biological waste called “autoclave” involving a high-pressure steam treatment to kill infectious material.

The investigation determined that fetal remains taken by Lake Forest, Illinois-based Stericycle from a third Planned Parenthood affiliate, in Bedford Heights in suburban Cleveland, ended up in a different landfill. DeWine’s office didn’t identify that landfill.

“Kight referred questions on disposal to the companies. A man who answered the phone at Accu Medical Waste Service who wouldn’t give his name said all employees had been instructed not to comment.

Stericycle said in a statement it has a long-standing policy against accepting fetal remains. DeWine’s office said Planned Parenthood uses the company to dispose of its biological waste including aborted fetuses.”

DeWine said that he has referred his investigative findings to the Ohio Department of Health for further action.

Inspectors find aborted babies inside Planned Parenthood POC freezer

An unannounced inspection by state health investigators which resulted in the suspension of a South Carolina Planned Parenthood facility this past summer also revealed how aborted babies were stored in a biohazard freezer. The horrific details, captured in a SC state health inspection report are eerily similar to those captured by the Center for Medical Progress while undercover at a Houston Planned Parenthood abortion facility.

Planned-Parenthood-Gulf-Coast-freezer

In that video, Center for Medical Progress (CMP) “buyers” were taken into Planned Parenthood’s back pathology room where they ask to view any “fresh specimens” i.e. aborted babies. With a BIG smile on her face, the Planned Parenthood assistant told CMP, “We had a really long day and they are all mixed up in a bag,” she states as she giggles. And then they tell CMP that they keep the “specimens” frozen.

SC Inspection Planned Parenthood fetal tissue

The inspection report from the State of South Carolina lays out a similar system where aborted children are kept in a freezer at a Planned Parenthood in Columbia. The gruesome details are documented in the August 31,2015 on site inspection the Bureau of Health Facilities Licensing performed at Planned Parenthood of South Atlantic on Middleburg Drive.

Planned Parenthood south carolina

The unannounced inspection at the Columbia Planned Parenthood was requested by Governor Nikki Haley and conducted by the South Carolina’s Department of Health and Environmental Control’s Bureau of Health Facilities Licensing and Bureau of Land and Waste Management to determine compliance with state laws.

During the walk through of the Planned Parenthood abortion clinic investigators identified two locations where biohazard waste was stored. The first one, although it contained bio-hazardous waste, did not contain any fetal tissue. But, when inspectors asked if there were any other places where “POC’s” or products of conception were kept, Planned Parenthood staff replied, “Yes, in the POC room in the freezer.”

South Carolina Planned Parenthood abortion freezer inspection fetal tissue

According to the document obtained by Saynsumthn, inspectors followed the Planned Parenthood staff in the “POC room” and opened the “upright freezer which had a biohazard sticker in the top right hand corner.” Inside the freezer were several metal shelves lined with blue disposable pads. One shelf had a large red plastic biohazard bag that was tied with numerous (in excess of 20) smaller red plastic bags, the report stated.

Planned Parenthood staffers told inspectors that “individual products of conception” or as pro-lifers rightly describe them, aborted preborn children, are placed in a smaller red biohazard bag after examination by the physician i.e. abortionist. They are then placed in the large bag in the freezer, the inspection report notes.

Inspectors then asked Planned Parenthood staffers what the next step would be for the “fetal tissue” or preborn aborted children in the freezer. Abortion clinic staffers told inspectors that on the day of “medical waste” “pick up” that the large bag would be placed in a cardboard box in the “biohazard room” and sealed and labeled where a manifest would be generated. It would then be passed off to the “transporter” or the medical waste pick up company.

The storing of aborted children in freezers until they can be “transported” was also described in detail by Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast when, in an unprecedented move CMP undercover investigators were able to film what takes place in these “POC labs.” A transcript of an April 9, 2015 conversation CMP had with Melissa Farrell, Director of Research for Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast read in part:

“After the physician has confirmed the tissue correlates with gestational age, tissue is placed in a biohazard container and gets discarded into a single container and then is placed in the freezer. Anything after 16 weeks is immediately placed in the freezer after the procedure. And it is all sent away once a week for incineration. So that’s kind of the scope.”

In another portion of the conversation the Planned Parenthood staffer told CMP:

“Under a sample acquisition protocol where everyone that’s coming in gets approached, not just African-American or whatever, everyone gets approached about donating fetal tissue, maybe we can even think, and I recognize that a lot of this has to be fresh, but maybe even banking, a tissue banking part, that we have it built into the consent form-protocol-in the event that you don’t have a use-first trimester, you don’t have a use for it currently, you saw the refrigerator freezer space we have, we have plenty of space. We can store it, and then if you have a need, because some researchers start with frozen specimens or preserved specimens first, we could look at doing that as well.”

Planned Parenthood inspection Jenny Black

The storing of aborted babies inside freezers, as creepy as it sounds, does not appear to be a violation of health laws.

However, in addition to the way the Columbia, South Carolina Planned Parenthood stored the aborted fetuses, the document did list a host of health violations found by the South Carolina State Health Inspectors and detailed them in a September 11, 2015 letter addressed to Planned Parenthood CEO Jenny Black.

Those violations include the following:

Documentation on personal background information on 2 staff members was not available for review.
The facility did not have documentation on training in infection control for 2 staff members.
The facility did not comply with a provision of the Women’s Right to Know Act…In 5 of 25 medical records reviewed, the record documented that an abortion was performed sooner than the required 60 minutes after an ultrasound.
Planned Parenthood did not adhere to and follow provisions for tissue examination and disposal and did not have a written policy and procedure regarding registration of fetal death or death certificates.
Planned Parenthood’s emergency drug cart did not have a listing of contents on the cart.
Expired medications were stored in the patient care areas and pharmacy.
Products of conception resulting from abortion procedures were not managed and properly disposed of by incineration according to regulations.
Several abortion records involving minors did not include the names of their mother or father.
In 25 out of 25 of the medical records reviewed by inspectors, the names of clinical assistants in attendance during abortion procedures was not documented in the record.
In 4 of the 25 medical records reviewed, abortions were not reported to the Office of Vital Records within the required 7 days but were reported between 13 and 33 days. And in one of the records reviewed, the record did not document that the abortion was reported at all.
Sterile gloves were stored and mixed with non-sterile supplies including non-sterile examination gloves .
Waste meeting the definition of “infectious waste” was not managed and properly disposed of by incineration.

Planned Parenthood COuth Atlantic abortion clinic suspended

State officials then suspended the license of the South Carolina Planned Parenthood facility. Despite previous claims from CEO Jenny Black that monetary penalties were not issued, the documents shows that Planned Parenthood was fined $7500.00 and ordered to submit a plan of correction.

Planned Parenthood south atlantic monetary fine suspended abortion inspection

According to the Island Packet:

Planned Parenthood paid a $7,500 penalty for 21 cited violations and submitted correction plans by the Sept. 28 deadline but asked DHEC to reconsider some of the violations, putting the suspension on hold…DHEC cleared Planned Parenthood’s Columbia clinic on Nov. 6, and the organization withdrew its request, Department of Health and Environmental Control Director Catherine Heigel said.

Ohio Right to Life has issued this release:

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Today, Ohio Right to Life obtained documentation of enforcement actions against three abortion facilities by the Ohio Department of Health. Among them is a $25,000 fine issued to Planned Parenthood of Bedford Heights due to severe violations of health and safety standards. Such violations include the facility’s failure to adhere to infection control policies, including exposed urine samples. Other health inspector discoveries include:

no experienced director of nursing on staff
improper storage of eight containers of human tissue
3-month overdue follow-up documentation for hospitalized abortion patient with perforated uterus
incomplete documentation for abortion patient who was hospitalized for bleeding
use of expired and undocumented chemicals and equipment used on surgical suction hoses

Further enforcement actions by the health department were taken against Northeast Ohio Women’s Center, which was denied a license to practice surgical abortions due to multiple health and safety violations, including failure to properly train staff, lack of a director of nursing, and expired medications and pregnancy tests.

“We’re deeply concerned, though admittedly unsurprised, that multiple abortion facilities are jeopardizing the lives and health of women,” said Mike Gonidakis, president of Ohio Right to Life. “The real war on women is being waged everyday in these unsafe and unsanitary abortion mills. These reports shock the conscience and reaffirm our resolve to protect life from Ohio’s abortion industry.”

This week, ODH also issued an administrative order to close the last remaining abortion facility in Toledo. Capital Care Network of Toledo (CCN) was unable to secure a transfer agreement with any Toledo-area hospital which caused health officials to begin the closure process last year. CCN attempted to enter into a transfer agreement with an out-of-state hospital at the University of Michigan. Because the hospital is located 52 miles away from CCN, the Department of Health ruled that it does not meet health and safety standards.

“Without Capital Care Network, life in Toledo will be safer for women and children” said Gonidakis. “This week, our government assured all of us that women’s health and patient safety is priority number one. It is deeply troubling that some people are advocating for this illegal operation to remain open, putting women’s lives at risk.”

Planned Parenthood Keystone had a novel excuse for failing to report the ambulance transfer of a patient to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, as required by law.

plannedparenthoodoffice8 Orange CA 2009 (1)

When DOH inspected Planned Parenthood Keystone’s Allentown abortion clinic on February 27, 2014, it was surprised to learn a patient had begun hemorrhaging after her abortion on March 15, 2013, and taken to the hospital by ambulance.

This was a surprising because DOH is supposed to get a report from any medical facility within 24 hours after such an occurrence, and it didn’t in this case.

Planned Parenthood’s excuse?

Its Patient Safety Officer and Associate Medical Director “determined that this event did not constitute a serious event or incident…. Abnormal bleeding after a surgical abortion is not unusual nor is it unanticipated,” quoting from the report.

PP Allentown Keystone

The Health Department report reads: the patient presented to the facility on March 15, 2013, for an elective in-clinic abortion. CF1 performed internal suction and documented no products of conception were found. CF1 requested an ultrasound be performed. Further review revealed CF1 documented the patient’s uterus was empty. CF1 completed a second internal suction of the patient’s uterus. CF1 documented no products of conception were found and requested a second ultrasound be performed. CF1 documented no products of conception were found. Continued review of MR6 revealed the patient began with excessive bleeding with noticeable large clots. CF1 instructed CF2 to administer Methergine (medication used to manage hemorrhage) 0.2 milligrams (mg) intramuscularly (IM). The patient’s excessive bleeding continued and CF1 instructed EMP3 to call 911 to request ambulance transport of MR6 to the hospital’s emergency department (ED).

Interview with EMP2 and EMP3 on February 27, 2014, at approximately 2:00 PM confirmed CF1 performed internal suction two times on MR6, and each time there were no products of
conception found. Continued interview confirmed the patient had excessive bleeding, was given Methergine, and transferred to the hospital ED for excessive bleeding following an in-clinic abortion.

A request was made of EMP1 and EMP2 on February 27, 2014, for the facility’s internal investigation and the facility’s report of MR6’s transfer from the facility to an acute care hospital emergency department. No investigation or facility report to the Department or Patient Safety Authority were provided. Phone interview with EMP1 on February 27, 2014, at approximately 2:15 PM revealed if the facility did submit this occurrence, it would have been submitted as an incident and not a serious event.”

In 2013, Planned Parenthood of Northeast, Mid-Penn & Bucks County and Planned Parenthood of Central Pennsylvania merged and the new entity is called Planned Parenthood Keystone.

In January a sign on the door of the Birmingham, Alabama Planned Parenthood said they were closed.
Planned Parenthood Birmingham

A statement from Planned Parenthood to the media read, “We are slowing down our services in Birmingham temporarily in order to upgrade our operations.”
Now, the abortion giant claims that they suspended operations in at the Birmingham facility because of illegal activity conducted by two former staff members.

The abortion giant told MyFoxAl that the staff members were allegedly selling illegal prescription medicine in the parking lot. Planned Parenthood says they reported the activity to investigators along with the state board of nursing and board of medical examiners.

Spokesperson Nora Spencer says the group is upgrading operations and speaking with the Alabama Department of Public Health about scheduling an inspection before re-opening.

Blogger Jill Stanek uncovered more from a lawsuit filed by Planned Parenthood prior to these allegations becoming public.

Stanek Writes:

Planned Parenthood’s lawsuit left it and doctors killing babies in Alabama open to exposure. And expose this brief does. From page 6 (paragraph breaks and underline added):

Finally, the evidence will show, contrary to plaintiffs’ assertions (Doc 173 at 12), that the State has a legitimate need for additional credentialing for abortion doctors.

There are immediate reasons to question the competence and ethics of at least two of the five doctors (40%) who work for plaintiffs as well as their employees more generally. Dr. A is currently being sued for malpractice arising from his misdiagnosis of a patient at a Birmingham abortion clinic. Dr. P2 is currently being prosecuted by the federal government for Medicaid fraud.

And Planned Parenthood’s Birmingham clinic was recently closed after an employee of Planned Parenthood unlawfully sold prescription drugs in the clinic’s parking lot.
