81 abortion clinics closed or reduced services in 2015

Posted in Operation Rescue, Pro-Life with tags , , , , on December 23, 2015 by saynsumthn

The total number abortion clinics in America continues to decline, following nationwide trend extending back to 1991. In 2015, abortion clinics closed at a rate of more than one per week with 53 abortion clinics shutting down or halting all abortion services.

Operation Rescue surveyed by telephone all abortion facilities in the U.S. from December 1-15, 2015 and found the following:

* 42 Surgical abortion clinics halted all abortion services.
* 11 Medical abortion clinics halted all abortion services.

In addition, a number of abortion facilities reduced services:

* 16 abortion clinics halted surgeries and now offer only medication abortions.
* 12 abortion clinics stopped dispensing abortion drugs and now only offer surgical abortions, noting that the abortion pill was “ineffective” or “too dangerous.”

In all, 81 abortion clinics closed or reduced services in 2015.

Currently, there are 517 surgical abortion clinics and 213 medication abortion clinics remaining active in the U.S., the lowest numbers in decades.

In 1991, which is considered the high water mark for the number of abortion clinics, there were 2,176 surgical facilities offering abortions. Since then, 81% have closed.

“There is a direct correlation between the number of abortion and the number of abortion clinics. When abortion clinic close, abortion numbers decrease and lives are saved,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.

In addition, Operation Rescue obtained data on wait times for abortion appointments and average price of common first-trimester abortion procedures that debunk assumptions that the Abortion Cartel falsely portrays as fact.

The results show that the national average wait for an abortion appointment is 8.5 days, much less that the approximately five weeks it takes to get a dentist appointment.

In Texas, where a 2013 abortion law is being challenged at the U.S. Supreme Court next spring, abortion supporters wrongly claim that the closing of half the state’s abortion clinics has overwhelmed remaining clinics, leading to higher costs and longer appointment wait times in weeks.

However, Operation Rescue’s new data confirms that the average wait time for an abortion appointment in Texas is 6.5 days – two full days below the national average. The cost of a first trimester surgical abortion in Texas is also below the national average cost of $594.74.

“Closures can be at least partially attributable to the Abortion Cartel’s inability to follow the law. Given that propensity, we are confident the trend of abortion clinic closures will continue,” said Newman.

Australian gov detains pro-life leader on false charges of violence #FreeTroyNewman

FRIDAY UPDATE from Operation Rescue: The Australian High Court has ruled that the Ministry of Immigration was justified in withdrawing Troy Newman’s visa and has ordered him deported. Newman will also have to pay court costs.

Newman had appealed the decision to cancel his visa, which was down while he was enroute and without proper notification sought to enjoin the government from deporting him. (MORE)

ORIGINAL POST BY SAYNSUMTHN BELOW:

According to a video uploaded by Operation Rescue president, Troy Newman he has been detained due to a canceled visa from the Australian government.

Newman, was on his way to speak to a pro-life group and said he had no indication that his visa has been revoked until he was on route.

tn

As many of you know I’m scheduled to speak in a national tour with Right to Life Australia from the 1st to the 10th of Oct. But the Australian government revoked my visa at the last minute. The revocation was based on a pile of lies, including the idea that I promote violence. My 25 year history of peaceful, prayerful action speaks for itself,” Newman wrote on his Facebook page.

At one point in his travel between Denver and Los Angeles, airport security notified Newman that his visa had been revoked.

“I was pulled off a plane in Denver and told I could not travel to Los Angeles. And then on to Melbourne Australia. I am scheduled to speak on Friday at Right to Life of Australia’s main convention in Melbourne,
” Newman reported on his Facebook page!

“It is clear that the pro-abortion crowd does not want anyone to hear the truth about Planned Parenthood’s illegal actions. Please pray for me I’m stuck in Denver airport like a man without a country. Please share this video [below] and make it go viral.”

Newman eventually made his way to Melbourne but was detained at the airport and is being held there by security.

“Through a chain of events the Lord has allowed me to get on a plane in spite of many objections by the airlines and Australia,” Newman said.

Terri Butler

According to media reports, Labor member of the Australian Parliament Terri Butler, a pro-choice politician was behind the effort to stop Newman from entering Australia.

The New York Times reported that Butler, wrote to Peter Dutton, the minister for Immigration and Border Protection, saying she was concerned that Newman could inspire “the harassment and intimidation of women accessing reproductive services and professionals offering those services at medical clinics” or even “threats or the commission of acts of violence.”

Newman is on the board of the Center for Medical Progress which has been accusing Planned Parenthood of the illegal selling of baby parts. The group caught several Planned Parenthood top executives admitting to the horrific operation on the babies the abortion business aborts.

“It’s not because he’s anti-choice. It’s because he advocates executing doctors #sept28, ” Butler tweeted after Newman was detained.

Katrina Haller RTL Australia

Katrina Haller of Right to Life Australia said despite the claim Troy Newman has been accused of violence – he and their protests have always been peaceful.

Newman’s peaceful protests are well documented state side and there has never been a substantiated charge of violence against Newman to date.

The Guardian states that Newman’s lawyers, Clothier, Anderson and Associates, said that Newman has never incited violence.

Reporting the following:

Counsel for Newman said the federal government’s decision to prevent the speaker from coming to Australia was flawed because Newman has never incited violence.

While Newman has been arrested for taking part in anti-abortion protests in the US, he has never been charged or advocated violence, the high court heard on Thursday evening.

“The basis of the [visa] finding seems to rest solely on the adverse reaction to my client’s presence in Australia,” barrister Richard Knowles said. “There was no question at all that that my client has ever advocated violence.

Tonight, Australian media reported that High Court Justice Geoffrey Nettle has adjourned the matter until Friday afternoon to give Mr Dutton time to consider the case overnight.

Troy Ne3wman stopped in Australia

They went on to report:

Melissa Newman told ABC’s 7:30 that Australian authorities should free her husband, who is reportedly holed up in a cell in Melbourne Airport.

I don’t know what they’re afraid of. I don’t know what they think he’s going to do here,” she said.

“We just went to another airline and booked our tickets to LAX [Los Angeles International Airport]. When we got to LAX we had our boarding pass, already, because they issued it in Wichita from LAX to Melbourne,” Ms Newman said.

They let us on the plane without any trouble at all.”

According to media reports, Newman arrived in Melbourne via United Airlines flight, which they say now faces a potential fine for carrying him.

As a result of the detainment, pro-life activists are using the hashtag #FreeTroyNewman to call for the Australian Government to let him go.

In a late hour update from Operation Rescue Senior Policy Advisor Cheryl Sullenger, she asked pro-lifers to e-mail Australian minister Peter Dutton (minister@border.gov.au) on Newman’s behalf.

Adding:

Troy has been prevented from communicating with his wife the entire time he has been there. He is now being held at a military facility with no communication –not even a phone call. He is being held like a prisoner without bail. He NEVER received official notice that his visa was cancelled, only hearsay from friends. And he was prevented from flying on his original flight from Denver to LA but a foreign government that should have no power in the US.

“Please drop everything and do it now. I am trying to get a press release out now. We need public pressure.

“They have dropped the “violence angle” and are planning to file new charges of illegal entry even though no one stopped him from getting on plane in LA.

“Please share and let’s flood the minister with objections to Troy’s treatment and demands for his release.

    “Thank you!!!!!”

Troy Newman Praying

Late Thursday evening, Operation Rescue denounced the Australian Government’s poor treatment of Troy Newman writing in part:

Newman was moved from the airport to a secondary facility on a military base where is his being held with criminals. Newman has been denied communication with his wife during his entire unjust detention.

He was detained after his visa was cancelled without notice. He never received official notice of his visa cancellation, which was done to appease a pro-abortion Member of Parliament who lied about Troy advocating the killing of abortion providers to accomplish the cancellation and silence Newman’s peaceful pro-life message.

Newman has never supported violence against abortion providers and statements from a book co-written by Newman have been taken out of context in order to twist the meaning to one that was never intended in the context of the book. Newman’s remarks were in the context of a theological study of a government’s ability to institute capital punishment, and was never in advocation of violent acts against anyone. What was never mentioned by Newman’s detractors was that the book also explained that in addition to judgement is mercy, and the ability to receive repentance, forgiveness, and restoration through Jesus Christ.

Prosecute Planned Parenthood says pro-life leader

Posted in Operation Rescue with tags , , , , , , on September 27, 2015 by saynsumthn

A national pro-life leader is calling for Planned Parenthood to be prosecuted after accusations that they are selling aborted baby parts.

Troy Newman, who is president of Operation Rescue and sits on the board as an adviser to The Center for Medical Progress, said their undercover videos show that Planned Parenthood is breaking the law.

Newman strongly criticized Planned Parenthood supporters in Congress who have attempted to realign the conversation to attack him and CMP lead investigator, David Daleiden, rather than looking at what he calls illegal activities of Planned Parenthood.

Troy Newman prosecute Planned Parenthood

“They are attempting to deflect that Planned Parenthood is violating the law by profiting from the sale of human body parts. That they are manipulating the abortion techniques to put profits ahead of the health safety of women. And, the videos also show that babies are being born alive and being murdered,” Newman stated.

To date, CMP has released 10 videos showing Planned Parenthood executives haggling over the price of organs even admitting they will crush above or below specific body parts to preserve the organs they want to harvest.

Listen,” says Newman, “Planned Parenthood has been caught with their bloody red hands in the cookie jar. They are breaking the law.

The videos have outraged Americans and prompted the majority of GOP Presidential contenders to vow to defund Planned Parenthood which currently receives over $528 million on federal tax dollars annually.

To help apply pressure, Newman is calling for pro-lifers to visit defund Planned Parenthood cards at www.defundPlannedParenthoodnow.com to get postcards that will be physically-delivered to Capitol Hill offices calling for the complete defunding of Planned Parenthood.

The cards read:

Dear Representative,

As people of conscience and American taxpayers, we are sickened and horrified by the recently-revealed videos of Planned Parenthood’s profiteering from the illicit sale of aborted children. We count it as your responsibility to hold hearings, expose this vile practice to all of the American public and eliminate the subsidization of Planned Parenthood.

But Newman said defunding the baby harvesting organization is not enough. He is calling for them to be prosecuted as well.

“What we need more than defunding Planned Parenthood and we do need to defund Planned Parenthood we need to prosecute Planned Parenthood,” he said.

Newman said that every attorney general should view the videos and then investigate and indict the abortionists who he said are clearly breaking state and federal law.

He is also urging pro-lifers to protest Planned Parenthood on October 10th. The latest protest follows one in August where over 78,000 people turned out at 354 sites throughout the United States and in six foreign countries.

Anyone wishing to participate can lead an event or locate one at www.ProtestPP.com.

Pro-life cease and desist letter demands Planned Parenthood prez apologize and retract accusations of violence

The national pro-life group, Operation Rescue said that “Cease and Desist letters” are going out to Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards and ABC News on behalf of their president Troy Newman seeking an apology and retraction of, “false, defaming statements made by Richards during an interview that aired on the July 26 edition of This Week with George Stephanopoulus.

Cecile Richards George STeph Planned Parenthood

According to the group, Richards attacked Newman and wrongly accused him of being “behind” acts of violence, including “the bombing of clinics, the murder of doctors in their homes, and in their churches.”

troy newman

“I cannot stand by while Planned Parenthood’s Cecile Richards and ABC News air false allegations against me that are now being repeated as fact in numerous news sources. I have never condoned violence against abortion providers or businesses and Richards’ patently false statements against me must be retracted,” said Newman.

Below is the ABC interview with Cecile Richards:

A press release from Operation Rescue states:

Operation Rescue began as a peaceful protest movement that engaged in non-violent civil disobedience at abortion facilities. Since then, under Newman’s leadership, Operation Rescue has evolved into a well-respected watchdog group that focuses on documenting and reporting substandard and unlawful practices within the abortion industry and seeking enforcement of existing abortion laws.

Operation Rescue Planned Parenthood cease decist letter

The demand letter, sent by Operation Rescue’s Chief Counsel, Brian Chavez-Ochoa, stated that Richards’ statements on the ABC News show hosted by George Stephanopoulus were “reckless and malicious. Its reckless and malicious conduct gives rise to substantial liability for defamation.”

The interview was prompted by the release of undercover videos made by the Center for Medical Progress that show evidence of Planned Parenthood’s involvement in the illegal selling of aborted baby remains. Newman appears to have been targeted by Richards because he serves as a Board Member for the Center for Medical Progress.

The videos also show evidence that Planned Parenthood’s abortionists illegally alter abortion procedures to ensure that marketable organs are protected during the abortion process.

The pro-life group continued saying:

At least one video describes the use of the banned Partial Birth Abortion method in which living babies are extracted from the birth canal and killed before they can be fully birthed. This gives rise to concerns that some of the babies have been born alive then killed for their organs, which can fetch hundreds of thousands of dollars for Planned Parenthood affiliates.

ABC Cease Decist letter Planned Parenthood troy newman

Planned Parenthood is lashing out and trying to deflect from their own appalling and allegedly illegal behavior by attacking me. With ongoing criminal investigations in at least 11 states, Planned Parenthood is desperate to change the subject. I cannot allow Richards to make statements that damage my good name just so she can shift public attention away from what is really going on inside her abortion clinics,” said Newman.

Last week, the National Abortion Federation (NAF) was granted a preliminary injunction against the Center for Medical Progress in an attempt to silence the pro-life group from releasing more damming video evidence of a possible illegal baby parts business.

A temporary restraining order has also been granted to Stem Express, the tissue procurement company used by Planned Parenthood.

Both orders are temporary as parties prepare to make their case for or against them before a judge in the near future.

The latest transcripts released by the Center for Medical Progress revealed that Planned Parenthood was using aborted baby parts for humanized mice research.

The use of aborted baby parts implanted in animals is not new and the gruesome experimentation has been documented on this blog here.

Police officer comes in conflict with abortion 1992

Posted in Operation Rescue, Police Abuse, Pro-choice People, Pro-Life, Pro-life History with tags , , , , , , , on January 5, 2015 by saynsumthn

I came across a 2010 blog post by Tony Perkins which recounted his face to face conflict with abortion as a police officer in Baton Rouge, Louisiana during a pro-life Operation Rescue protest.

img315

Ironically, I had never heard his observations before as I was actually a reporter on the scene during those same protests.

Having grown up in a Christian home and having accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior at the age of nine, I just assumed that I was pro-life, even though I can’t recall ever hearing a sermon on the topic. After all, I thought, aren’t all good Christians pro-life?” Perkins writes.

It was 1992 and Operation Rescue launched the “Summer of Purpose” outside the Delta abortion clinic in Baton Rouge.

religious bigots Operation Rescue Carole Novielli

Perkins recalls the event, “In the summer of 1992, I came face to face with the realization that being pro-life was more than a slogan on a bumper sticker—it was an understanding that what some have relegated to a mere political issue is in fact at the very nexus of a God-honoring, just society.

That July, Operation Rescue—a nonviolent pro-life movement that was all over the news at the time—came to my hometown of Baton Rouge to conduct a “rescue” at one of the city’s two abortion clinics. This amounted to basically just sitting and praying—and sometimes singing hymns—in front of the clinic. The purpose was to get pregnant women to pause and rethink their abortion decision. As a veteran officer working with the Baton Rouge Police Department Reserves, I had a front-row seat to the event. And what I experienced would rock my world.”

I remember that event well. Day after day the pro-lifers held 24 hour prayer vigils outside the abortion clinic. Each team of prayer warriors would meet the other team with a greeting in song – then quietly- the shift change would take place. I watched the police sit behind a huge fence they had erected to protect the child killers inside.

At roll call one evening, word came of the pending demonstration,” says Perkins, “I was taken aback by the negative and almost hostile reaction from some of my fellow officers. As the protest drew closer, the city spared no expense in mobilizing a tactical response that rivaled a small military operation.

“A public street was blocked off and an 8-foot chain-link fence was erected down the center of the road to keep the praying protestors from accessing the area around the clinic. In my nearly ten years of law enforcement and international antiterrorist work, I had never witnessed such a response to a planned peaceful protest.

“Why did the prospect of peaceful protestors elicit such an aggressive and militant response? I wanted to find out, so I purposefully chose not to work during the demonstration. Instead, I went to the clinic each morning that week as an observer to gain greater insight and clarity into this protest and the controversy surrounding it.”

I too was there early morning and late evening. I was there the entire week.

The day the protesters decided to block the clinic was amazing. They gathered early in the morning and broke off into battalions of sorts. Prayer support, worshipers, and rescuers.

Leading the protest were the worshipers and following behind them were several local pastors.

One by one, they approached the narrow gate entrance- read from the Holy Scriptures, knelt down and placed their bodies between the clinic and the babies scheduled to die that day.

As pro-lifers knelt down, evil swarmed in and I wondered why the police did not remove the abortion protesters who were taunting the rescuers.

The pro-choice protesters held rubber snakes and threw liquid on the pastors telling them it was HIV infected urine. It was a clear picture of good vs. evil and of light vs. darkness.

Perkins recounts what he saw, “Every morning I would arrive at the abortion clinic (along with my personal video camera), and in the evenings my wife and I would attend church services with those who were praying for and publicly standing for an end to abortion.

“Should God’s Word or man’s feckless opinion rule in our lives and laws? Clearly, evil will rule if God’s people remain silent.”

I witnessed the police also taunt, harass, chase, and beat pro-life protesters.

Perkins also witnessed the abuse, he writes, “The experience was a pivotal moment in my life. The overly aggressive and—in a handful of cases—violent behavior of some officers against the peaceful protestors (all of which I was capturing on video) underscored for me that this was no mere “political” issue. It went to the core of who we are as a people.

“Persuaded that others needed to witness the real situation, I gave my video footage to a local TV station, which then aired the shocking clips each night. I also wrote about what I saw in a local publication.

“This venture into eyewitness reporting didn’t sit well with department officials, and as a result, I was suspended from the force. What I witnessed that week was one of those rare occasions when we are given the opportunity to see beyond the skirmishes to the real battle that is raging for the hearts and minds of people.”

I also witnessed the beauty of a single Black woman, opposed to abortion, walk across the field as she could no longer remain in the area of those who would not risk arrest. I watched as a Black police officer begged her to return to the line of protesters and not make him arrest her Her head shaking “no” she crossed her arms and went into his arms signifying her identity with unborn babies who have no rights at all.

The beauty of this week was that many lives were saved and children lived. The church arose and God’s Kingdom came face to face with darkness and overcame.

img291

I want to be clear, I witnessed some police abuse but other officers were professional. Pro-lifers have been on the receiving end of police abuse from time to time, which I have documented before. One day, we hope law enforcement will step up and protect unborn life. One day….until then it is up to the people of God to take a stand for these innocent unborn babies.

As Perkins so eloquently states, “Should God’s Word or man’s feckless opinion rule in our lives and laws? Clearly, evil will rule if God’s people remain silent.”

Perkins now heads the pro-life organization, Family Research Council.
