Sen. Hillary Clinton at the 2007 Take Back America Conference promised to lift the ban on embryonic stem cell research.

According to the NIH:

In 2000, the Clinton Administration published guidelines governing the use of human embryonic stem cells in the Federal Register on August 23, 2000.

On April 25, 2001, a scheduled review of pending grant applications was postponed to provide President George W. Bush and his new Administration an opportunity to review the issue.

On August 9, 2001, President Bush issued a long-awaited decision on stem cell research. He authorized funding of stem cell research using existing pluripotent stem cell lines that were derived from human embryos before August 9. Such research is eligible for Federal funding if the following criteria are met:
    1) there must have been informed consent of the donors,
    2) the embryos must have been created for reproductive purposes and in excess of clinical need,
    3) there must not have been any financial inducements to the donors, and
    4) the embryos must not have been created for research purposes.

During fiscal year (FY) 2002, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded the first grants to conduct human embryonic stem cell research, including both new grants and supplements to existing grants.

In the fall of 2007, Hillary told the Carnegie Institute, “The Bush administration has declared war on science. When I am president, scientific integrity will not be the exception it will be the rule.”

Then, Senator Clinton said she was “committed” to seeing that stem cell research moves forward. She voted in favor of the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act, and has also worked to expand the budget of the National Institutes of Health.

In 2014, the San-Diego Union reported that Hillary Clinton was advocating for Biotech companies especially those in California:

California (undertook) a very important task in creating a funding stream for stem cell research,” Clinton said. “Other states have followed suit, when it looked as though the federal government would not be doing that. States have a role to play, but we need a national framework.”

Clinton was referring to the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, funded with $3 billion in bond money. The program was created in 2004 by California voters in part because former president George W. Bush, the first president to fund embryonic stem cell research, limited funding to those lines of human embryonic stem cells created by August, 2001. CIRM and the federal government also fund research with many other types of non-embryonic stem cells.

On June 25, 2014, Hillary Clinton was interviewed by Jim Greenwood, president and CEO of the Biotechnology Industry Organization, at their San Diego Convention Center pushing fetal research and GMO’s.

“I don’t want to see biotech companies or pharma companies moving out of our country simply because of some perceived tax disadvantage and potential tax advantage somewhere else,” she said.

“If Washington is not welcoming to this kind of effort, maybe it could be put together by the states that are the leaders in hosting biotech companies,” she said, citing California funding stem cell research when the federal government would not.

She also supported the promotion of GMO or genetically modified seeds which she labels “drought resistant.”

Recently, Hillary Rodham Clinton defended abortion biz Planned Parenthood who sells aborted baby parts to Biotech firms for medical research.

GMO Rice? Bill Gates allocates $14 million for C4 Rice

The Business Mirror is reporting that THE Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), the British government and the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) have allocated $14 million to fund the  second phase of research for C4 rice over the next three years.

In a statement, IRRI said the second phase of the project aims to produce C4 rice prototypes for testing.

“C4 rice” dubbed “the rice of the future” has a built-in fuel injector to better convert sunlight into grain, potentially resulting in up to 50 percent higher production while using less water  and nutrients.

“This is exactly the sort of innovative scientific research that the Prime Minister was calling for at the Hunger Summit at Downing Street earlier this year,” said Lynne Featherstone, the  UK Parliamentary Undersecretary of State for International Development, in a statement.

Prof. Joe Cummins reviews genetically modified rice in Japan and points to overlooked dangers

Japanese experiments in GM rice are technically sophisticated but the human and environmental safety of the GM crops has not yet been full evaluated. In particular, the human cytochrome p450 genes are already known to activate carcinogens. They should not be used in rice, which is an important food crop that is eaten widely as a staple in Japan and many parts of Asia. The extensive use of aggressive CaMV–based superpromoters untested for safety, and the incorporation of human genes will both increase the potential of transgenic DNA to invade human genomes through illegitimate and homologous recombination, with dangerous consequences including the creation/activation of new viruses or cancer .

Tell Congress to stop Genetically Modified Foods- Stop the Monsanto Rider !

Posted in Bill Gates, Genetically Modified Food with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on July 19, 2012 by saynsumthn

From Think Progress—A progressive Liberal Blog:

Buried in the House Farm Bill, approved by the House Agriculture Committee , is the agribusiness industry’s latest attempt to shed regulations restricting new genetically engineered (GE) crops. While the bill’s massive food stamps cuts elicited widespread outcry, the industry quietly inserted provisions to rush new crops onto the market after only a cursory review of their safety.

Three sections (10011, 10013, and 10014) tucked into the middle of the bulky bill work together to eliminate any real review of GE crops. This “Monsanto Rider” got its name from the corporation with a choke-hold on most of the country’s staple crops; Monsanto owns the patents to genetically engineered strains of soybean, corn, sugar beet and cotton, to name a few, as well as many controversial chemical herbicides. Here are some of the rider’s most egregious game-changers:

* Environmental law does not apply. Review of GE crop impacts under the National Environmental Policy Act, Endangered Species Act, or any other environmental law is outlawed. Monsanto has particular beef with NEPA; in 2010 a federal court forced the USDA to conduct a study of Monsanto’s “Round-up Ready” alfalfa, which banned farmers from planting or selling the crop for four years. The USDA eventually approved the crop, even after finding that “gene flow” between GM and non-GM alfalfa is “probable,” threatening organic dairy producers and other users of non-GMO alfalfa, and that there is strong potential for the creation of Roundup-resistant “superweeds” that require ever-higher doses of toxic herbicides.
* No outside scrutiny allowed. The bill makes the USDA the sole authority on GE crops, immunizing applications from review by other federal agencies or outside groups. Furthermore, the USDA is not allowed to accept money to fund a study from anyone who petitions for additional analysis — even if a judge orders one.
* Impossible deadlines. While the USDA has never denied a single application for GE crop approval, the industry is making sure that they never will. Currently, new crops can at least be slowed down by lengthy environmental studies and expert review. But the House Farm Bill forces the USDA to approve or deny any application within one year (with an optional extension of 180 days).
* Approval time bombs. If the USDA fails to meet the deadline, the crop gets automatically approved for commercialization, entirely skipping the review process.

Monsanto paid well for these radical additions. reported that in the first three months of this year, the corporation spent $1.4 million lobbying Washington. Last year, Monsanto spent about $6.3 million total, more than any other agribusiness firm except the tobacco company Altria. Even if the Farm Bill provisions are killed in the Senate, another “Monsanto Rider” was already inserted into the FY 2013 Agriculture Appropriations bill. The company also recently took its aspirations across borders to Mexico, where political pressure has pushed the government to give Monsanto’s genetically modified corn a planting permit.

According to NaturalNews, a more Conservative Blog:
While millions of Americans were busy celebrating freedom from tyranny during the recent Independence Day festivities, Monsanto was actively trying to thwart that freedom with new attacks on health freedom. It turns out that the most evil corporation in the world has quietly attached riders to both the 2012 Farm Bill and the 2013 Agriculture Appropriations Bill that would essentially force the federal government to approve GMOs at the request of biotechnology companies, and prohibit all safety reviews of GMOs from having any real impact on the GMO approval process.

The Alliance for Natural Health – USA (ANH-USA), the Organic Consumers Association (OCA), and several other health freedom advocacy groups have been actively drawing attention to these stealth attacks in recent days, and urging Americans to rise up and oppose them now before it is too late. If we fail to act now as a single, unified community devoted to health freedom, in other words, America’s agricultural future could literally end up being controlled entirely by the biotech industry, which will have full immunity from the law.

Who Loves Monsanto- their Funder: Bill Gates:

Bill Gates loves GM Foods, you know the Eugenics pro-abortion-population control billionaire- that Gates ! The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s investments in Monsanto and Cargill. A US financial website published the foundation’s annual investment portfolio, which showed it had bought 500,000 Monsanto shares worth around $23m. This was a substantial increase in the last six months and while it is just small change for Bill and Melinda, it has been enough to let loose their fiercest critics.

In 2001 scientists at the Epicyte bio-lab in San Diego created the ultimate GM crop—’contraceptive corn’—after researchers discovered a rare class of human antibodies that attack sperm. By isolating the genes that regulate the manufacture of these antibodies, and by putting them in corn plants, the company has created tiny horticultural factories that make contraceptives.

Announcing his success at a press conference, the president of Epicyte, Mitch Hein, pointing to his GMO corn plants and announced, “We have a hothouse filled with corn plants that make anti-sperm antibodies.”

Shortly after the 2001 Epicyte press release, all discussion of the breakthrough vanished. The company itself was taken over in 2004 by Biolex and nothing more was heard in any media about the development of spermicidal corn.

Did it to go underground? Are your taco shells safe? What of your cornmeal or cornflakes? Is this killer cereal already turning up on our breakfast tables..?

According to her LinkedIn Page, Carmen Toft works for Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota

Carmen Toft works for Planned Parenthood of South Dakota and has been active for pro-choice causes through several abortion-related campaigns in recent years. Carmen Toft is one of two Democrats running in District 10 against Jenna Haggar, a Dist. 15 state representative until redistricting last year, and Don Haggar.”Carmen had decided to withdraw as a candidate previous to this incident,” South Dakota Democratic Party Chairman Ben Nesselhuff said in a statement to KSFY. “We look forward to putting this behind us and to having a vigorous debate on the issues for the next several months.”

Planned Parenthood Staffer Hits Girl With Car, Cited for DUI

• A Planned Parenthood abortion business staffer in Sioux Falls, South Dakota was charged with careless driving and Driving Under the Influence of alcohol in connection with a recent traffic incident.

As the Argus Leader newspaper reports, Carmen Toft, 32, a Planned Parenthood official and Democratic candidate for the state legislature, ran into a 7-year-old girl with her vehicle on may 22. Sioux Falls Police spokesman Sam Clemens confirmed the incident and said Toft was charged with careless driving.

As the paper reports:
Toft was driving south on Chicago and stopped at the intersection’s stop sign just after 8 p.m., Clemens said. Toft reportedly told police the child, who was going east through the crosswalk on Eighth Street, “came out of nowhere” on a bicycle as she began driving again.

The child was knocked to the ground and taken to the hospital for possible internal injuries, Clemens said. Toft was cited for careless driving and DUI, he said, but it was treated as a standard traffic offense and no SFPD case report was created.

Toft refused to take a breath test for alcohol on the scene, Clemens said. Anyone cited for DUI in the South Dakota is required to take a blood test, however.
The abortion business staffer, who has been instrumental in working against South Dakota’s twp attempts to ban abortions, refused comment when the Argus Leader asked for an interview. Toft is the South Dakota Public Affairs Manager at Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota.

Ironically, on her Twitter feed, Toft yesterday encouraged a friend to “drive safely” when told her friend was headed out on the interstate on a spare tire.
