ObamaCare NIH Death panels for the elderly?

Posted in Death Panels with tags , , , , on October 3, 2013 by saynsumthn

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is soliciting applications for federal grants worth up to $275,000 to research ways to provide elderly patients with “palliative care” – even in hospital emergency rooms and intensive care units.

Palliative care is commonly understood to mean medical treatment that focuses on relieving symptoms, including pain, instead of trying to treat or cure the underlying disease.

But researchers will not be studying the use of palliative care to relieve the suffering of dying patients. “Hospice and end-of-life settings are not included within the scope” of the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), the grant notices specifically state.

Instead, they will be looking at new ways to provide elderly patients with palliative care long before they are at death’s door.

The palliative care will be provided in “a variety of settings, including ambulatory care, hospitals (and specific sites within hospitals including specialty wards, intensive care units and emergency departments), assisted living facilities, and short- and long-term care facilities.”

Just-Discovered Letter Shows Margaret Sanger Was Part of Euthanasia Society

In 1938, just a few years prior to the American Birth Control League (ABCL) changing its name to Planned Parenthood, which today is the largest abortion provider in the nation, a group of American Eugenics Society Members and members of Margaret Sanger’s American Birth Control League (ABCL) formed the National Society for the Legalization of Euthanasia.

Heading this pro-euthanasia panel was a man by the name of Charles F. Potter who, in 1938 was also on the ABCL Committee for Planned Parenthood according to a February 1938, New York Times story.

Also on this board was Sidney Goldstein who sat on the American Birth Control League’s National Council and later was on Planned Parenthood’s Board of Directors.

Another member was Frank H. Hankins who was a managing editor for Planned Parenthood founder, Margaret Sanger’s newsletter called the Birth Control Review. Hankins was also an American Eugenics Society member.

Another more famous name who was sat on the advisory board of this panel was Julian Huxley, who was a recipient of a Planned Parenthood award.

Mrs. F. Robertson Jones was also on this panel, she was an ABCL President, wrote for Sanger’s Birth Control Review, and was an honorary board member of Planned Parenthood-World Population and a Board of Director of Planned Parenthood.

ABCL Citizen’s Committee for Planned Parenthood member, Dr. Foster Kennedy, was also on the panel.

American Eugenics Society Member, Clarence Cook Little was the President of Margaret Sanger’s American Birth Control League (ABCL), at the same time he was on this pro-euthanasia panel.

Clarence Little was the president of the University of Michigan, a founding member of The American Eugenics Society, and a board member of the American Birth Control League which would later be known as Planned Parenthood. (Watch Maafa21)

Leon Whitney Acclaims Hitler

American Eugenics Society founder and friend to Margaret Sanger, Leon Whitney, also sat on this panel. Whitney advocated forced sterilization, was published in Sanger’s Birth Control Review, and openly praised Adolf Hitler for his Nazi effort.

MARGARET SANGER AND EUTHANASIA

Margaret Sanger Slee Pathes

It is unclear why Planned Parenthood founder, Margaret Sanger was not listed on the above article because Sanger was clearly involved in the Euthanasia Society. Sanger was a member of the American Eugenics Society and many of their members were on this panel. Sanger admitted that she gave a speech to the Klu Klu Klan and in her autobiography, she bragged that she received a dozen invites from the Klan for further speeches.

By 1952, Margaret Sanger was open about her belief in Euthanasia.

Also listed is Harry Emerson Fosdick, who was a recipient of the Albert Lasker Awards Given by Planned Parenthood in 1953.

Henry H. Goddard is also listed and he was published in Margaret Sanger’s book, The Case for Birth Control.

Holmes ABCL

Also on the list is Samuel H Holmes. According to the film, Maafa21, in a 1929 speech, American eugenicist Samuel Holmes had proposed that mandatory birth control should be used as a tool to eliminate what he called the menace to the white race that had been created by increases in black population. His solution was to have a quota system in which the right to have a child would be controlled by the government and determined by race. At the time, Holmes was on the National Council of the American Birth Control League which would later become known as Planned Parenthood.

Frank L, Babbott is listed as a Vice President of this Euthanasia Society. Babbott was a founding member of the American Eugenics Society.

Frank H. Hankins – is listed on the Board of Director – his associations are listed above.

Clarence C . Little is also listed on the board of directors. Clarence Little was the president of the University of Michigan, a founding member of The American Eugenics Society, and a board member of the American Birth Control League which would later be known as Planned Parenthood. He was President of the International Fed of Birth Control League, Birth Control Federation President, on the Birth Control review editorial board, A Birth Control Federation of America VP, and on the 1938 Citizen Committee for Planned Parenthood. Among other known Sanger associations.

Charles Francis Potter was founder of the Humanist Society and in 1924 Margaret Sanger wrote an “Introduction for Charles Francis Potter.” Potter was active in the Rhode Island Maternal Health Association, which he served as medical director, as well as Planned Parenthood. He was a member of the American, Rhode Island, and Providence medical societies. In 1967, Dr. Potter was awarded the Margaret Sanger Medal by Planned Parenthood for outstanding service to family planning, after he served 11 years as medical director of its clinic.

President of the Euthanasia Society was Mrs. F Robertson Jones who was also on Margaret Sanger’s ABCL board.

We would later discover that RL Dickinson was President of the Euthanasia Society and Senior VP if Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

RL Dickinson

In 2012 PETER GOODWIN, MD ended his life in accordance with Oregon’s Measure 16 “Death with Dignity Act,” the landmark legislation that he helped craft and champion into law in 1997. . Aside from publicly advocating for Measure 16, he served as chairman of the Oregon Death with Dignity Committee. He was also a member of the Planned Parenthood of Columbia/Willamette board.

In 1964, Evelyn Ames co-founded the Planned Parenthood Association of Nashville. She served as the organization’s southeastern representative for nine southern states, and on the executive committee of the national board of directors of Planned Parenthood-World Population. She was also a founder and member of the board of the Nashville chapter of Concern for Dying, an advocacy group for the right to die. Ames Davis died in 1993.

Esther Instebo delivered donations and filled fundraiser tables for Planned Parenthood and Washington politicians. Instebo pulled her friends into Democratic Party politics. Instebo worked with the euthanasia organization Compassion & Choices to qualify for help in dying under the state’s Death with Dignity law. Knowing that she had that option “greatly improved the quality of the last six months of her life because she knew she wouldn’t have to put up with what she was afraid of.”

According to researcher, Rita Dillar, when Compassion & Choices, formerly The Hemlock Society, convened its June 2012 conference, former Planned Parenthood insider Theresa Connor was a featured speaker. She was public policy director for Planned Parenthood in Washington state for 15 years and instituted the research and strategy behind the 2001 Erickson v. Bartell case “that required employers’ insurance plans to cover prescription birth control under anti-discrimination laws.

Margaret Sanger Planned Parenthood Hero

It is interesting how Margaret Sanger, founded in Eugenics, the American Eugenics Society, and members of the Planned Parenthood all helped establish euthanasia and so-called mercy-killing ideologies in America. The purveyors of death have taken their fanaticism all the way from conception to end of life and no one is outside their bloody grips.

Paul Krugman, Death Panels, Health Care, Taxes and the Disabled

Posted in Death Panels with tags , , , on February 19, 2013 by saynsumthn

Nobel Prize winning “economist” Paul Krugman spoke at Sixth & I Historic Synagogue in Washington, D.C. . During the Q&A session following the lecture, an audience member asked him about the rising national debt.

Eventually we do have a problem. That the population is getting older, health care costs are rising… there is this question of how we’re going to pay for the programs. The year 2025, the year 2030, something is going to have to give… We’re going to need more revenue… Surely it will require some sort of middle class taxes as well.. We won’t be able to pay for the kind of government the society we want without some increase in taxes… on the middle class, maybe a value added tax… And we’re also going to have to make decisions about health care, doc pay for health care that has no demonstrated medical benefits. So the snarky version… which I shouldn’t even say because it will get me in trouble, is death panels and sales taxes is how we do this.

Democrats Crank Up Death Panel Talk Following Obama Win

Now that Obama has secured another four years in the White House, it is time for the administration to crank out more Obamacare propaganda, specifically arguments about the cost ineffectiveness of keeping old people alive.

Enter the internet’s liberal bellwether, Salon.com. Earlier today, the website posted an article by Matthew Yglesias, a blogger and Democrat operative who spent time at the Soros’ project, ThinkProgress.

According to Yglesias, old folks are “the key issue in the federal budget” and their welfare accounts “for the remarkable lack of apparent cost effectiveness of the American health care system.”

“When the patient is already over 80, the simple fact of the matter is that no amount of treatment is going to work miracles in terms of life expectancy or quality of life,” he writes.

In other words, following Mr. Yglesias logic, if the government is going to address the “remarkable lack of apparent cost effectiveness of the American health care system,” steps need to be taken to reduce cost at the lower end of the curve.

We can now expect more and more Democrats to talk about what was heretofore unmentionable — death panels. Yglesias, in fact, uses the phrase in his headline.

In September, a top Democrat strategist, Steven Rattner, said rationing under Obamacare is inevitable. “We need death panels,” he wrote for the New York Times. “Well, maybe not death panels, exactly, but unless we start allocating health care resources more prudently — rationing, by its proper name — the exploding cost of Medicare will swamp the federal budget.”

Rattner serves on the board the New America Foundation, a George Soros operation that was instrumental in supporting Obamacare in 2010.

During a question and answer session, Gates implied that elderly patients undergoing expensive health care treatments should be killed and the money spent elsewhere.

Gates said there was a “lack of willingness” to consider the question of choosing between “spending a million dollars on that last three months of life for that patient” or laying off ten teachers.

“But that’s called the death panel and you’re not supposed to have that discussion,” added Gates.

Michigan Democrat Congressman John Dingell , the Dean of the U.S. House of Representatives, was the primary author of HR 3200, the first House draft of its version of health care reform. He also voted to approve the final Senate version, which has remained very unpopular nationally.

The octogenarian famously told a local radio program soon after the final March 21, 2010 health care vote in the House that the newly enacted Affordable Care Act, called ObamaCare by its critics, aims to “control the people.”

Krugman: You can call em death panels but they’ll save us money

In 1938, just a few years prior to Margaret Sager’s American Birth Control League (ABCL) changing it’s name to Planned Parenthood, which today is the largest abortion provider in the nation, a group of American Eugenics Society Members and Sanger’s American Birth Control League (ABCL) members got together and formed the National Society for the Legalization of Euthanasia. Are the UK’s Death Panels the future of America also?

In an article published in the UK Daily Mail entitled; Top doctor’s chilling claim: The NHS kills off 130,000 elderly patients every year

NHS doctors are prematurely ending the lives of thousands of elderly hospital patients because they are difficult to manage or to free up beds, a senior consultant claimed yesterday.

Professor Patrick Pullicino said doctors had turned the use of a controversial ‘death pathway’ into the equivalent of euthanasia of the elderly.
He claimed there was often a lack of clear evidence for initiating the Liverpool Care Pathway, a method of looking after terminally ill patients that is used in hospitals across the country.

It is designed to come into force when doctors believe it is impossible for a patient to recover and death is imminent.

It can include withdrawal of treatment – including the provision of water and nourishment by tube – and on average brings a patient to death in 33 hours.

There are around 450,000 deaths in Britain each year of people who are in hospital or under NHS care. Around 29 per cent – 130,000 – are of patients who were on the LCP.
Professor Pullicino claimed that far too often elderly patients who could live longer are placed on the LCP and it had now become an ‘assisted death pathway rather than a care pathway’.

Professor Pullicino, a consultant neurologist for East Kent Hospitals and Professor of Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Kent, was speaking to the Royal Society of Medicine in London.

He said: ‘The lack of evidence for initiating the Liverpool Care Pathway makes it an assisted death pathway rather than a care pathway.
‘Very likely many elderly patients who could live substantially longer are being killed by the LCP.

‘Patients are frequently put on the pathway without a proper analysis of their condition.

‘Predicting death in a time frame of three to four days, or even at any other specific time, is not possible scientifically.

This determination in the LCP leads to a self-fulfilling prophecy. The personal views of the physician or other medical team members of perceived quality of life or low likelihood of a good outcome are probably central in putting a patient on the LCP.’

He added: ‘If we accept the Liverpool Care Pathway we accept that euthanasia is part of the standard way of dying as it is now associated with 29 per cent of NHS deaths.’
The LCP was developed in the North West during the 1990s and recommended to hospitals by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence in 2004.

In a previous post I titled: Death Panels? Is it possible?

I explored this issue:

The recent uproar about Obama’s plan to nationalize health care has spurred much controversy. Hidden within the 1000 page Bill is language that most scholars and lawyers can barely understand and includes legislation which, has scared many citizens. The mere suggestion that an elderly or dying patient would be required to appear before a GOVERNMENT employee to help them with “end of life issues” has sent Obama’s “Plan” into a tailspin.

What I would like to examine here is not the actual language, or whether the bill is really suggesting some sort of a “death panel” for euthanasia or rationing, but whether this type of idea is possible.

To understand some of what drives the fears, we need not look to far beyond the President’s own pick for his Science Czar, Paul Holdren. In the 1970’s Holdren published many books, several which were co-authored with radical population control guru, Paul Ehrlich. Although Holdren may not have absolutely stated that he wanted to add sterilizing agents to the nation’s water supplies to keep the population down, he did say that if the population did not “voluntarily” decrease, this could be one option. And Holdren should know, because he was on panels and in touch with high level government officials, birth control pushers, pro-abortion enthusiasts, and Zero Population Growth experts who were, in fact, espousing this type of coercion. Holdren stated officially that one of his mentors was a Professor he had by the name of Paul Harrison.

Harrison suggested that infanticide was a legitimate form of population control when he wrote this in his book, The Challenge of Man’s Future, from page 87 . ” In the absence of restraint abortion, sterilization, coitus interruptus, or artificial fertility control, the resultant high birth rate would have to be matched at equilibrium by an equally high death rate. A major contribution to the high death rate could be infanticide, as has been the situation in cultures of the past.

Holdren asked this question in an article authored by him, which was published a book entitled, No Growth Society,

Why, then, should we compound our plight by permitting population growth to continue?” He stated clearly that in the 1970’s the US had already exceeded its “optimum population size of 210 million” (pg. 41) and concluded that , ” it should be obvious that the optimum rate of population growth is zero or negative…

Many people are not aware of the fact that State GOVERNMENTS within the United States openly supported Eugenics. In fact, as early as 1907 Indiana had established the first GOVERNMENT “eugenics court” and the last GOVERNMENT Eugenics court was not closed until 1984, that was in Oregon. These Eugenics Courts, were GOVERNMENT Boards and they required the poor, the infirmed, “feebleminded” and minorities, which, included a large population of black people to appear before them to decide who could and could not pro-create. Remember, Eugenics Boards and GOVERNMENT Boards – were one in the same. Many of these underrepresented people groups were forcibly sterilized and coerced into birth control clinics in order to keep their GOVERNMENT welfare! Recently a well-documented film, called, Maafa21, produced by Life Dynamics in Denton, Texas, has exposed much of this abuse. You can get a copy here: http://www.maafa21.com. You can also google Eugenics in North Carolina, and read the GOVERNMENT documents which that state has opened up and get just a sneak peak of what a run-away GOVERNMENT board with this kind of power can do to people.

Preview of Maafa21:

One other important fact you may not be aware of is the history of the founding of the first group who fought for the legalization of Euthanasia. Most people are not aware that many of the exact same people who originally founded the idea of legalized euthanasia in the US, were the same ones who were on the Board of Planned Parenthood Founder, Margaret Sanger’s American Birth Control League (ABCL). To examine this closer – all you have to do is get a copy of the New York Times from January 17,1938.

In 1938, just a few years prior to the American Birth Control League (ABCL) changing it’s name to Planned Parenthood, which today is the largest abortion provider in the nation, a group of American Eugenics Society Members and Sanger’s American Birth Control League (ABCL) members got together and formed the National Society for the Legalization of Euthanasia. Heading this pro-euthanasia panel was a man by the name of Charles F. Potter who, in 1938 was also on the ABCL Committee for Planned Parenthood according to a February 1938, New York Times story. Potter was the leader of the First Humanist Society and organized this entire pro-euthanasia group.

Also on this pro-euthanasia board was: Sidney Goldstein who sat on the American Birth Control League’s National Council and later was on Planned Parenthood’s Board of Directors. Another member was Frank H. Hankins who was a managing editor for Planned Parenthood founder, Margaret Sanger’s newsletter called the Birth Control Review. Hankins was also an American Eugenics Society member. Another more famous name who was sat on the advisory board of this pro-euthanasia panel, was Julian Huxley, who was a later recipient of a Planned Parenthood award.

Mrs. F. Robertson Jones was also on this panel, she was an ABCL President, wrote for Sanger’s Birth Control Review , was an honorary board member of Planned Parenthood-World Population and a Board of Director of Planned Parenthood. ABCL Citizen’s Committee for Planned Parenthood member, Dr. Foster Kennedy, was also on the pro-euthanasia panel. American Eugenics Society Member, Clarence Cook Little, who was the President of Margaret Sanger’s American Birth Control League (ABCL), at the same time he was on this pro-euthanasia panel. American Eugenics Society founder and friend to Margaret Sanger, Leon Whitney, also sat on this panel. Whitney advocated forced sterilization, was published in Sanger’s Birth Control Review, and openly praised Adolf Hitler for his Nazi effort. Planned Parenthood founder, Margaret Sanger was not on this panel, but she was a member of the American Eugenics Society and many of their members were on this panel. Sanger admitted that she gave a speech to the Klu Klu Klan and in her autobiography , she bragged that she received a dozen invites from the Klan for further speeches. Planned Parenthood is the nation’s largest Population Control and some would say “Eugenics Control” organization and they receive millions of dollars from the US GOVERNMENT. Care to ask why????

It is important to know this because the “population Control” , “Zero Population Growth”, “Planned Parenthood” crowds are buzzing around this administration and have been heavily involved in government decision making for years. In fact, Sanger’s Planned Parenthood organization receives over $1 million dollars a day from the Government to sterilize and abort this so-called over-populated society. Planned Parenthood’s own research arm, the Alan Guttmacher Institute , reports that Black Minorities receive 5 abortions to every 1 white baby aborted in this nation. Is this coincidence or a form of racist and eugenic targeting? Remember that when they removed the GOVERNMENT Eugenics Courts, they appear to have replaced them with Federal Funding of Population Control Groups, like Planned Parenthood.

So , could we see potential “Death Panels” in Nationalized Health Care, or Co-op Health Care? You Bet! Look at those who have been advocating for euthanasia and abortion for many years and you will see that they receive large amounts of funding from the GOVERNMENT already. Do you really believe that if we can form GOVERNMENT Eugenics Boards which forcibly sterilized thousand of Americans, murder 50 million unborn children through abortion with the blessing and funding of the GOVERNMENT to the nation’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, and form euthanasia panels to legalize the act, that we would never have GOVERNMENT death panels? Then…think again !

Government tells NHS – Don’t resuscitate disabled kids or children with learning difficulties ( Death Panels and Eugenics?)

Mencap is calling on the government to make the NHS safe for people with a learning disability, following the publication, today (Wednesday 15 February), of a new report ‘Death by indifference: 74 deaths and counting’, which finds continued institutional discrimination in the NHS.

The new report looks at what progress has been made since the publication of Mencap’s original ‘Death by indifference’ report in 2007.

It confirms that, although some positive steps have been taken in the NHS, many health professionals are still failing to provide adequate care to people with a learning disability. The report highlights the deaths of 74 people with a learning disability in NHS care over the last ten years – highlighted in an article in The Guardian on 3 January – which Mencap believes are a direct result of institutional discrimination and could have been avoided.

NHS accused of putting ‘do not resuscitate’ notices on patients with learning disabilities without consulting with their families
By Daily Mail Reporter

A leading charity has accused NHS staff of thinking patients with learning abilities are not worth treating, often giving them ‘do not resuscitate’ notices without telling their families.

A Mencap report said the deaths in NHS care of 74 people with learning disabilities could have been avoided – and were a direct result of institutional discrimination.

Mencap said the staggering number of deaths had occurred in the past decade, and it called on the Government to ‘make the NHS safe for people with a learning disability’.
Its report – titled Death By Indifference: 74 Deaths And Counting – found continued discrimination in the NHS, and examined the progress made since the publication of its original Death By Indifference report in 2007.

The charity said that, although some positive steps had been taken in the NHS, many health professionals were still failing to provide adequate care to those with learning disabilities.

In particular, it pointed to the inappropriate use of ‘do not resuscitate’ (DNR) orders on such patients.

The report said: ‘The inappropriate use of DNR orders has remained a constant feature of many Mencap cases. There have been circumstances where DNR notices have been applied without the knowledge or agreement of families, and applied hastily in inappropriate situations, solely on the basis of the person’s learning disability.’

Report authors said they uncovered common errors made by healthcare professionals, including failure to abide by disability discrimination law, ignoring crucial advice from families, failing to meet even basic care needs, not recognising pain and distress, and delays in diagnosing and treating serious illness.

Mencap said it believed this was underpinned by an assumption by some healthcare professionals that people with a learning disability were not worth treating.

Mark Goldring, Mencap chief executive, said: ‘The report confirms that, five years on from our landmark Death By Indifference report, many parts of the NHS still do not understand how to treat people with a learning disability.

‘At Mencap we continue to hear heartbreaking stories of unnecessary deaths and pain. Sadly we believe that these cases are just the tip of the iceberg.’
A Department of Health spokeswoman said: ‘This Government has made very clear its commitment to improve the health of people with learning disabilities.
‘We share Mencap’s concerns that some people with learning disabilities may not be receiving the high-quality healthcare that they should expect.’

In the conclusion to its report, Mencap says: People with a learning disability have a right to the same quality of healthcare as those without a learning disability. Getting it right for them will also mean getting it right for all vulnerable people, such as older people and those with dementia.

‘The government must act to make all the changes necessary to make good healthcare a right for all.

Included in the report are case studies typical of what Mencap believes to be institutionalised discrrimination in the NHS:
‘Alan MacDonald died suddenly in Lister Hospital, Stevenage, on 20 December 2009, aged 53.
‘He had lived independently with his wife, supported by carers.
‘Alan had Down’s syndrome and a moderate learning disability, and was considered by his family to have a “full and active life”.
‘Three days before admission to hospital, Alan was noted by his family to be “in fine form”. However, on December 15, 2009, he was admitted to hospital with abdominal pain and diarrhoea.
‘From the time Alan was admitted, his family felt they had to “beg” staff to treat him, only to be met with “hostility”.
‘A member of Alan’s family who is a doctor… said: “I felt the nurses on the ward did not respect a gravely ill patient with special needs and a grieving family. Instead of using respect, tact, care and understanding, I and the rest of Alan’s family were faced with hostility, disrespect and no consideration for the distressing situation”.
‘The cause of death was multiple organ failure, sepsis and bronchopneumonia.
‘After a protracted complaint against it by Alan’s family, the hospital has finally apologised for the attitude of some of its nursing staff. But, for the family, the lack of respect shown for their loved one is something that will never be forgotten.’
