Pro-life Ohio Senate candidate criticizes “establishment GOP” and state pro-life group for endorsing opponent
A shocking video uploaded by pro-life leader Janet Folger Porter, who is running for the Senate in the state of Ohio, not only challenges the pro-life stand of her opponent, Larry Obhof, but that of the pro-life group which has endorsed him.
Although Porter served as Legislative Director of Ohio Right to Life (1988-1997) where she successfully lobbied for passage of the nation’s first Partial-Birth Abortion Ban, which sparked the national debate in Congress and throughout the country, Ohio Right to Life PAC is endorsing her opponent Larry Obhof, who she says has refused to pass the most pro-life bill ever before the Ohio legislature. The organization was founded by the grandfather of the pro-life movement, the late Dr. Jack Wilke.
Porter’s pro-life resume is long and includes the passage of the Woman’s Right to Know Law (Informed Consent & 24 hour waiting period), Parental Consent, Fetal Homicide, Clinic Regulations, Adoption Reform, Patient Protection from starvation & dehydration, and removed abortion funding. She has been endorsed by James Dobson, Gov. Mike Huckabee and Phyllis Schlafly, among others.
Porter is critical of Ohio Right to Life for their endorsement of Obhof after he failed to pass the pro-life Heartbeat Bill, which she authored. And, she is not alone. She has assembled former Board members to speak out against the ORTL endorsement in a video she has uploaded to YouTube:
In her video, Ernie Saunders, a former board member of Ohio Right to Life and a supporter of Porter, now calls the organization, which has endorsed Porter’s opponent, “Ohio right to regulate.”
In addition, a former Ohio Right to Life PAC member also criticizes the organization, “They will endorse less pro-life people over more pro-life people…” states Lori Viars, a former PAC member who supports Porter.
“Janet Folger Porter of Senate District 22, pro-life champion, nationwide leader on the pro-life issue not endorsed over a guy who refused to help pass the Heartbeat Bill. It’s just very very sad,” she added.
“Janet Folger Porter is interested in stopping the baby killing not regulating them,” Rep. Nino Vitale from Ohio District 85 states.
Before founding Faith2Action, Janet served from 1997-2002 as the National Director of the Center for Reclaiming America, founded by Dr. D. James Kennedy where she hosted Reclaiming America with Janet Folger, a 60-second commentary that aired daily on 550 radio and TV stations and received the National Religious Broadcasters’ “Genesis Award,” as well as the Excellence In Media “Silver Angel Award.“
