Make them your own, a speech to Pro-life Waco

I had the honor and privilege to speak to members of the group Pro-life Waco this weekend. Their dedication to the battle to end abortion is inspiring. The group is led by John Pisciotta.

John, who recently created the Facebook page, Hometown Pro-life Action, has organized what he calls “Second Sundays” where he gathers with those interested in fighting abortion and other culture issues in their community. The group consists of several denominations and they invite a speaker every month before addressing local events and issues.

Nobodys Fool Planned Parenthood

Pro-life Waco has gained a reputation for demonstrating against Planned Parenthood and in particular their Nobody’s Fool event. Planned Parenthood in Waco regarded Nobody’s Fool as its hallmark achievement. For two decades pro-lifers worked to shine the light on Nobody’s Fool. Pro-Life Waco created a website www.plannedpromiscuity.com, to expose the reality of Planned Parenthood’s sex education.

As a result of the group’s regular presence outside Planned Parenthood’s abortion clinic, John told me that the local center has now closed.

In addition, the group has organized a CookieCott against the Girl Scouts funding of Planned Parenthood.

Billboards

The group regularly places educational Billboards in the Waco area and they take out ads in their local paper to challenge others about the holocaust of abortion.

The group has recently been protesting area Target Stores for their promoting of the pornographic 50 Shades of Grey message. Saynsumthn has blogged the first 50 Shades Target protest here. Other successful protests have taken place and in some cases the store pulled the merchandise on the mere suggestion that the group would be protesting outside.

I enjoyed meeting and speaking with John and members of his Pro-life Waco group. They are sweet, dedicated, and they put on a wonderful lunch which features John’s Grandmother’s secret recipe spaghetti sauce.

My speech was called, “Make them your own”

If you want to listen to the speech you can listen here.

I mentioned in my speech about finding aborted babies, you can read about that here and view images of the memorial service as well as the aborted children.

Below are the quotes I referenced in the speech:

In his, National Sermons , Speeches, and Letters on Slavery and its war by Gilbert Haven 1869: A sermon entitled, The National Midnight, preached at Westfield, Mass., November 16,1856, Gilbert Haven said this “We are so familiar with the word Slavery, that its real scope and character do not smite the eye with true horror. If this nation stood today, perfectly free from this iniquity, and could behold it approaching its shores, and demanding the sovereignty, we should rise up as one man against the hellish foe…How horrible it’s sin, how horrible will be its punishment !”

In an article published in the Sydney Morning Herald on why Hitler failed, from 1949, Pastor Martin Niemoeller, German Pastor and concentration camp prisoner, said. Hitler “succeeded all to well in becoming lord and master in Germany and everyone shrank back in fear until he came to the Christian Church. That organization had to be brought under his control like all other organizations, but suddenly he began to feel a resistance which was a riddle to him. This resistance sprang from the fact that Christ is by no means a myth, from bygone days but the Lord of the Church who was raised from the dead and is the living Lord and Master. Whose Lordship is not only proclaimed but is exercised.” Hitler gave the order “Thou Shalt Kill” but the people heard the churches order “Thou shalt not kill.

Biographer John Godsey of Wesley Seminary in Washington DC said this of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, “He saw it was the duty of the church not just to bind the wounds of those hit by a madman, but to put a stick in the spokes of his wheel and stop the driver.”

William Wilburforce, A Practical View, published in 1797, “Accustom yourself to look first to the dreadful consequences of failure; then fix your eye on the glorious prize which is before you; and when your strength begins to fail, and your spirits are will nigh exhausted, let the animating view rekindle your resolution, and call forth in renewed vigour the fainting energies of your soul.”

In 1942 Hans Scholl, a medical student at the University of Munich, his sister Sophie, and other brave young people founded the “White Rose” movement, one of the few German groups that spoke out against Nazi genocidal policies… “We will not be silent,” they wrote to their fellow students. “We are your bad conscience. The White Rose will not leave you in peace!”

Sophie School once said, “The real damage is done by those millions who want to ‘survive.’ The honest men who just want to be left in peace. Those who don’t want their little lives disturbed by anything bigger than themselves. Those with no sides and no causes. Those who won’t take measure of their own strength, for fear of antagonizing their own weakness. Those who don’t like to make waves—or enemies. Those for whom freedom, honour, truth, and principles are only literature.”

A Memorial to the German Resistance now reads:
You did not bear the shame.
You resisted.
You bestowed an eternally vigilant symbol of change
by sacrificing your impassioned lives for freedom, justice and honor.
