Thousands protest hospital transfer agreement with Planned Parenthood
An estimated 2,000 abortion opponents showed up Tuesday night at the El Centro City Council meeting to protest a transfer agreement to Planned Parenthood.
Planned Parenthood has been building a health center on Fourth Street in El Centro.
El Centro Regional Medical Center, a city-owned hospital, signed a key transfer agreement needed for Planned Parenthood to operate a clinic where abortions, among other surgical procedures, will be performed.

We were a powerful presence at the ECRMC Board of Trustees meeting! Nearly 2000 people crowded into the parking lot outside of the Education Center singing praises and praying as Attorney David Gibbs III, Pastor Walter Colace, Pastor Chris Nunn, Marty Ellett, and Kori Peterson spoke on our behalf.
Mr. Gibbs was able to explain to the board their right to refuse to sign the transfer agreement and reassure them that if Planned Parenthood were to sue that he and the full weight of the NCLL (National Center for Life and Liberty) ncll.org/ would be available to defend against Planned Parenthood. As Mr. Gibbs expressed, if Planned Parenthood were to sue, “…they would lose!” Despite the board’s closed session vote that ignored the will of the people, we must continue our prayerful protest. We must not back down or go away. We must educate ourselves in the issue of abortion and be ready to answer the debate with loving but factual information that will educate but also heal. As much as we know that abortion is wrong, let us not forget the many many people who have been victims of the misinformation campaign led by Planned Parenthood.
