Planned Parenthood Board Member also served on Religious School board

Why is anyone that works for a place which kills unborn children serving on the board of a Christian school?

Bonnie Mills PPGT picBonnie Mills, who currently serves on the board of Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas was once a Trustee of an Episcopal School in Austin Texas.

Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas clearly offers abortions at their many locations across the state:

PP Greater TX abortion

Mills is the President and a Trustee of the Mills Dennis Family Foundation in Austin, TX. She is also on the advisory boards of A Legacy of Giving and Emancipet. Her past board affiliations include Lifeworks, Austin Habitat for Humanity, the ZACH Theatre, Leadership Austin, People’s Community Clinic, Austin Musical Theatre, Fund for Childcare Excellence, and SafePlace.

According to the website I Live Here Give, she also served on the board of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Austin, TX.

This 2010 990 as well as this 2011 990 shows Bonnie Mills as a Trustee.

However, the current list of Trustees on the school’s website does not include Mills ( see here)

Regardless of whether Bonnie Mills is currently on the board of the school or not, the fact that she was on their board at the same time that she served on the board of an abortion clinic chain is very troubling.

  3. You clearly don’t know a lot about St. Andrews–they also have several openly gay faculty members and supported teachers in assigning books like Brokeback Mountain, The God of Small Things, and Beloved. They are an open-minded community that cares about providing their students with a broad and varied education.

Furthermore, Planned parenthood does a lot more than provide women with abortions. That is a VERY SMALL part of what they do–it just happens to be the most publicized because of people like you. They also help women screen for cervical cancer, go through affordable well-woman checks, provide family planning services, and other things that you might take for granted. Bonnie Mills is a credit to our community, and we’re lucky to have her.

I’d really like to better understand why you have a problem with this. You know that board/trustee members have very little impact on what kinds of things are taught in the schools they serve, right? She was drawn to a school that shared her views–she wasn’t trying to convert a religious school to her agenda or whatever other ridiculous thing you might believe.
