WashPo notes (outgoing) Komen CEO’s large salary, ignores Planned Parenthood CEO’s larger salary

Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s founder and CEO is stepping down.
Nancy Brinker is joined on her fall on the sword by her president and two board members, all denying the Planned Parenthood debacle had anything to do with it.
It didn’t have to be this way. They could have stood strong in their decision to defund theUnited States’ largest abortion provider, but they couldn’t handle the heat.
Since then no one has been happy. WhileMSM consistently portrays Komen’s loss of revenue as a show of displeasure by abortion proponents, it is just as likely disappointed and previously unaware pro-lifers are now withholding donations.
Jill Stanek states, “I don’t feel one ounce of sympathy for Brinker. She, as a friend of Planned Parenthood, got Komen into its mess. In 1996 Planned Parenthood of North Texas gave her the Gertrude Shelburne Humanitarian Award, and as recently as 2011 Komen sat on that affiliate’s advisory council. (MSM never mentions this part of Brinker’s bio, because it doesn’t fit their portrayal of Brinker as a Republican hack.)”
Brinker learned too late Planned Parenthood is as friendly as a scorpion, and her beloved organization paid dearly for her miscalculation. Ultimately, so did she.
Meanwhile, a Washington Post op ed on Brinker’s demise, “Nancy Brinker’s Komen shakeup too little and way too late,” had nary a contrary word to say about Planned Parenthood or its CEO while noting:
Brinker’s own reputation was on the line as her $417,000 salary and the top executive’s first-class air travel became part of the debate about whether the organization had strayed from its mission.
Jill Stanek is correct to point out the contradiction because as Saynsumthn has been tracking– Planned Parenthood which cried and whined they “needed” Komen funds so badly- pays many of their execs 6 digit salaries. Given that Planned Parenthood brags over 800 Locations that is potentially 800 Planned Parenthood directors and staff making 6 digit pay at the expense of Tax Payers.

Planned Parenthood received $349.6 million in tax dollars in the fiscal year ending on June 30, 2008, and $363.2 MILLION Dollars on Government Grants ( Tax Dollars) in 2009– that is ONE MILLION DOLLARS PER DAY of taxpayer money !!!
Planned Parenthood then took those hard earned dollars away from poor and middle class hard working people and it paid its president, Cecile Richards, $385,163, plus another $11,876 in benefits and deferred compensation. ( View 2008 990 here )
The $385,163 in pay Planned Parenthood President Richards received in the organization’s fiscal year ending June 30, 2008 was recorded in the group’s publicly available Internal Revenue Service Form 990 filed for that year.
Richards also received $346,285 in total compensation from Planned Parenthood and $38,476 in total compensation from related groups in the organization’s fiscal year that ended on June 30, 2009, according to the organization’s Form 990 for that year. In a 2010 PPFA 990, Cecile Richards reported earning $319,245 from PPFA and $35,471 from related PP organizations
Other Officers at the National Level received the following compensation:
CFO, MARIA ACOSTA received $89,691 from Planned Parenthood $5,725 from related organizations and $2,362 in estimated compensations. In a 2010 PPFA 990, Acosta received $242,845 from PPFA and $21,118 from related organizations.
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER MARYANA ISKANDER received $245,814 from Planned Parenthood and $23,696 in estimated compensations. In a 2010 PPFA 990 was compensated $289,166 by PPFA.
VICE PRESIDENT OF DEVELOPMENT KIM MEREDITH received $220,427 from Planned Parenthood $24,492 from related organizations and $24,076 in estimated compensations. In a 2010 PPFA 990 was compensated $145,344 from PPFA and $16,149 from related organizations. Before joining PPFA in 2006, Meredith spent nearly nine years as the chief operating officer at the now defunct and now disaffiliated Planned Parenthood Golden Gate, a Planned Parenthood clinic which squandered tax dollars and will close and never repay their debtors .
NATIONAL POLITIC AND FIELD DIR, ELLEN GOLOMBEK received $203,843 from Planned Parenthood $10,729 from related organizations and $15,288 in estimated compensations, she has since left Planned Parenthood to work in the Colorado Governor’s Administration.
VP OF MEDICAL AFFAIR, VANESSA CULLINS received $248,251 from Planned Parenthood and $15,600 in estimated compensations and In a 2010 PPFA 990 Cullins was compensated $257,907 from PPFA.

Karl Eastlund was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho in November of 2011 after serving for five months in the interim position.Karl joined Planned Parenthood in 2003 as the Chief Financial Officer and quickly became the organizations Chief Operating Officer.
According to a 2009, 990 filed by Planned Parenthood of Central Washington, Eastlund made $100,648 base compensation , $5,000 in Bonus and incentive pay,$3,408 in retirement and other compensation, $5654 in non-taxable benefits, for a grand total of $114,710. Eastlund only worked on average 37.50 hours per week for that salary.
Former CEOs Anna Franks received $212,513 from the tax funded Planned Parenthood and Medical Director Sara Cate was paid $145,683
Planned Parenthood of Central Washington has now become Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho and given the salary of their previous CEO Anna Franks, it is expected that Eastlund will earn well over $200,000 from the TAX FUNDED organization.
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER MARYANA ISKANDER received $245,814 from Planned Parenthood and $23,696 in estimated compensations

in 2012, Debby D’Arcangelo was named the new president and CEO of the Planned Parenthood Association of the Mercer Area.
In 2009, Planned Parenthood of Mercer County paid their President and CEO Xan Blake $$129,315 annually to work an average of 35 hours per week according to their 990 on file with the IRS. In addition, the CEO received $6357.00 in other compensation for a total pay of $135,672.00.
Allison Howe the VP of Health Services raked in $79,933.00 for her 35 hours of work each week and was additionally compensated $2398.00.
Elizabeth Dumont Planned Parenthood’s VP of Finance got a whopping $77,758.00 and a compensation of $2,333.00 for her 35 hours of work each week.
These figures do not account for each Planned Parenthood director – there are over 800 locations, making six digits in many cases as welll….
Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s Web site shows that it performed 332,278 abortions in 2009, up 8,270 from 2008. Why should the taxpayer be forced to fund abortion?
Planned Parenthood also PROFITED $64 million dollars in that same year ! Why do they need you and I to fund them?
But, Planned Parenthood’s profits are politicians gains. Just look at this analysis from Open Secrets which monitors 501C3 organizations and how they distribute and collect their funding:
The organization’s political action committee, for example, donated more than $148,000 to federal candidates — almost all Democrats –– during the 2010 election cycle. The PAC spent more than $443,000 overall.
Planned Parenthood also recorded $905,796 in independent expenditures during the 2010 cycle — money spent in support of, or in opposition to, federal political candidates, largely through advertisements. The top beneficiaries of this money were Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) and Patty Murray (D-Wash.).
In 2010 alone, Planned Parenthood and a California affiliate together spent more than $700,000 on federal lobbying efforts, a Center for Responsive Politics analysis of federal lobbying records finds. By comparison, all other organizations that primarily advocate for abortion rights collectively spent $247,280 on federal lobbying efforts during the same period.
So, not only does taxpayer money make Planned Parenthood officials RICH FAT CATS, they also expand the coffers of the politicians who support them- see how the cycle works?
Planned Parenthood also PROFITED $64 million dollars in that same year ! Why do they need you and I to fund them?

While Planned Parenthood touts itself as an organization dedicated to women’s reproductive health, more than one-third of the executives surveyed in the new report (36%) are men and only 12 percent of them have any health background while 11 percent have some sort of political background.
The report also surveyed the salaries of the top employees of the abortion business, which maintains its headquarters in new York City. The report shows Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards and her chief lieutenants are paid well.
