Planned Parenthood accused of secretly referring patients to Gosnell, late term abortionist closed by the state and facing murder charges, black leaders speak out

“I’m not calling them [abortion] clinics. They are slaughterhouses. We have got to do something. My problem today with the African-American community, whether it be clergy or otherwise, we don’t fight anymore.”” Bishop Aretha Morton of Tabernacle Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral near Wilmington. Building housing Delaware abortion clinic up for sale
Del. firm allegedly tied to Phila. case

A building in Wilmington where Pennsylvania prosecutors allege late-term abortions were started by a doctor facing murder charges in Philadelphia is up for sale.
A woman who answered the phone at Atlantic Women’s Medical Services Inc. declined to comment, but a listing by Jack Stape Realtors of Brandywine Hundred is asking $795,000 for the Baynard Boulevard building. Atlantic Women’s Medical Services will leave the building following the sale, said Jeff Stape, owner of Jack Stape Realtors.

“We’re selling the real estate and the building will be vacant,” Stape said. “I’m hoping we can take a negative situation and have a positive user come in and utilize the building. It’s a decent building in a good location.”

Dr. Kermit Gosnell, who is accused of killing infants delivered alive following late-term abortion procedures, worked part time at Atlantic Women’s Medical Services.
Philadelphia charges against Gosnell and nine employees are related to incidents at his West Philadelphia Women’s Medical Society clinic, but a grand jury report indicated he routinely started late-term abortion procedures in Delaware at the Baynard Boulevard location and completed them at his Pennsylvania clinic.
Gosnell began treating at least six patients in Delaware and then sent them to Philadelphia, according to evidence considered by the grand jury.

Prosecutors said that one of seven live newborns Gosnell is accused of killing by severing their spinal cords with scissors belonged to a teenage girl who first visited him at the Wilmington clinic. He took her to the West Philadelphia site because she was too far along to get an abortion under Delaware law, prosecutors said.
Two of Gosnell’s charged employees were from Delaware: 42-year-old Lynda Williams of Wilmington and 51-year-old Sherry West of Bear.

Groups that have protested against the clinic were happy to hear it would be leaving — although no one is publicly saying if it will be moving to another location.
“Obviously, Atlantic Services made a business decision and the clergy made a moral decision,” said the Rev. Christopher Bullock of Canaan Baptist Church. “And sometimes moral decisions and business decisions do not see eye to eye.”

Bullock and several other black ministers from the Wilmington area called for state and federal investigations into Atlantic Women’s Medical Services in February.
