The Pennsylvania Department of State’s Board of Medicine said Tuesday that a search of Gosnell’s abortion and pain management clinic found “deplorable and unsanitary” conditions, blood on the floor, and parts of aborted fetuses in jars. The temporary suspension of Gosnell’s license follows at least two raids at his Family Medical Society by agents from the Drug Enforcement Agency and the FBI.No criminal charges have been filed. DEA and FBI officials declined to comment, citing the ongoing probe.
Gosnell was disciplined, reprimanded and fined $1,000 by both Pennsylvania and New York back in 1996.
Abortion patient, Dana Haynes, ” I felt like he (Gosnell) was going to let me die”. Dana says that she was left by Gosnell in pain and suffering from a botched abortion he performed. Her friends pleaded with Gosnell to help her. She was later taken to the hospital. She tells her story here:
Joyce Evans talks to a second woman who was a patient of Dr. Kermit Gosnell who filed a civil suit against the doctor.
This abortion patient said, was upset when she found out that Gosnell is under investigation and has now had his license suspended“I’m glad I didn’t go through with what the procedure was here. They probably would have killed me,” she said.
More than two dozen frozen fetuses were found at a Philadelphia doctor’s office, according to CBS3 Eyewitness News after authorities raided the building to investigate the death of a woman who allegedly received an abortion procedure, reported the Philadelphia Daily News .
Dr. Kermit Gosnell had an OB/GYN and Family Practice in West Philadelphia up until the raid this week when his license was temporarily suspended.
The State Board of Medicine described the conditions of the clinic as “deplorable and unsanitary” and states “there was blood on the floor, and parts of aborted fetuses were displayed in jars.”
CBS3 Eyewitness News reports that sources told them when investigators searched the building they found the multiple fetuses in a freezer. Some of them were 30 years old.
The fetuses have now become evidence to see if they indicate whether or not illegal late-term abortions were completed.
The suspension order of Gosnell is alleging that on Nov. 20 a woman died after being given treatment by an unlicensed worker, states the Daily News .
The unnamed woman was reportedly at the office for an abortion procedure and was administered drugs by an unlicensed worker. After the procedure, the woman began having an arrhythmia and was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Gosnell’s other patients were shocked at the allegations and what authorities found.
A patient of his told CBS3 , “Very good doctor. Very good doctor. I’ve known him for years from my family.”
This isn’t the first time Gosnell has been reprimanded. In 1995 the state licensing board publicly warned him and said that he “employed a physician’s assistant that was not certified … saw at least one patient and treated him.”
The investigation is pending and Gosnell has not been formally charged with any criminal misconduct.
